Was craving dumplings and so hubs and I ended up here for lunch. They had just opened so we were the first ones in. Nice and clean space, moderate amount of tables and seating, and super cute artwork on the walls! We ordered tons for the two of us, with plenty of leftovers to take home (well, except for the dumplings lol). Here's what we got: Shredded Bean Curd Salad (4/5) - Anytime there's a bean curd salad on the menu, I'm 100% gonna get it. This one was decent. Fragrant sesame oil flavor and even better with some chili oil added to it. Wood & Silver Ear Mushroom in House Dressing (3.5/5) - This was great texture wise, but a little one dimensional on the flavor. Sesame oil was the main flavor I could taste. Green Beans Sautéed with Oyster Sauce (5/5) - We have never once been steered wrong by green beans at a dim sum place. These were no exception. Flavorful with a nice crunch. Our fave veggie to get! Pork Xiao Long Bao (4.5/5) - Can't go to a dumpling place and not get an order of their XLBs. We got the 8 piece pork flavor, and they were solid. Not as hot as I wanted them to be, but still super yummy! Shrimp Dumplings (4/5) - These were good too. We always get an order of har gow wherever we go, and these were solid. Juicy Pan Fried Pork Buns (5/5) - These were phenomenal! We have never had juicier or more flavorful buns. The crunchy bottom gives such a nice contrast to the soupy interior. We demolished these! All of our food came out really quickly, and our server was very attentive, checking in with us often. The restaurant was quite clean, lots of bright lighting inside. We were really happy with our food and our visit here! Can't wait to come back!
I had always wanted to try this place so my fam decided to take me here on Father's Day. Dumpling Hours is located in the back of the AMC theatre. They opened at 11:30am on a Saturday. When arrived around 11:50am, we were greeted by the friendly staff and no need to worry about waiting on a table. The following orders: Juicy Pan-Fried Pork Buns (A must order) Black Truffle and Pork Xiao Long Bao Pork Xiao Long Bao Shrimp Pork Chives Dumplings Shrimp & Pork Siu Mai (6Pcs) Steamed Pork Buns Out of all of the orders, the Juicy Pan-Fried Pork Buns were my absolute favorite! They do warn you, so becareful when taking a bite due to the hot broth inside the bun. All of the staff done a wonderful job prepping our orders and checking on our tables if we needed anything.
Quite Decent! Cucumber salad with garlic, makes a great light appetizer to share! I really like their Hot & Sour Soup. The Pork Xiao Long Bao, it was juicy and meaty. Their Braised Beef Noodle Soup is pretty good. The radiah is more on the firmer side. Braised beef, IMO, super savory.
After a morning of cherry and mulberry picking, this place really was a good wind down meal! We were able to enjoy our dishes family style. The service was good and fast. We ordered on our phone and it was very easy for us. Will be back if I'm ever in the area.
Came for lunch on a Saturday. Dumpling Hours has a large corner storefront with plenty of seating and tables. The inside is pretty clean and spacious, and you can watch employees making dumplings at the front. We ordered the pork XLB, okra with garlic, jellyfish appetizer, beef noodle soup, Dan Dan noodle, and an iced tea. Everything was great. The XLB had incredibly thin wrappers and lots of juice inside. The jellyfish appetizer was light and refreshing without too much oil like some places do. The okra was fresh and flavorful. Our only complaint was that the noodles in both the beef noodle soup and Dan Dan noodle were a bit softer than we prefer; we typically like our noodles with more bite. Service was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They even gave us a dessert on the house - a jelly with watermelon, strawberries, and dried fruits. It was light, tasty, and not too sweet with very generous fruit topping. Highly recommend!
If you're in Brentwood, this is the spot for dumplings. The name says it all dumplings all day, every day, and they don't miss. The beef rolls are crispy, flaky, and packed with flavor. The juicy pan-fried dumplings have that perfect golden-brown crust with a burst of goodness inside. The xiao long bao? Always a hit just be careful, those soup dumplings will humble you if you're not patient. Trust me I know lol! Honestly, you can't go wrong with any dumpling on the menu. If you're indecisive, just pick one they're all solid. The place is clean, the staff is friendly, and the ambiance is cool. Whether you're here with friends or on a solo dumpling mission, you'll leave happy & full. Nice to have a place like this out in the Brentwood/ borderline Antioch/ Oakley area.
Came here on a Sunday night about 20 mins before closing. We were waited on quickly, but didn't feel rushed. It was just the 2 of us, so we got: -Ginger and scallion noodles - a little too sweet for my preference, but hit the spot with the soy sauce and chili oil at the table -Hot and Spicy Pork Xiao Long Buns - SO GOOD!! Wish we had gotten more, but it was already after closing when we tried them. -Juicy Pan-fried Pork Buns - Another delicious item! They get their juicy name from being filled with soup. But be careful! They can be really hot when they reach the table, and when I tried to bite into one, juice/soup rained all over the table, my phone, and my arm! -Steamed Pork Buns - these were just okay. I think we meant to get the BBQ pork buns instead. We had also ordered the cucumber salad with crushed garlic, but it made its way to the other table by mistake. When we pointed it out to our server, we just asked that she'd take it off our bill. Instead, she gave us a thing of hot and sour soup to go. To be honest, we didn't want the hot and sour soup. But she packed it up for us and handed it to us saying it's better because it's more expensive than the cucumber salad. We felt bad telling her no, so we just accepted it. Looking back, we should've just declined and requested the cucumber salad to be taken off our bill, since they probably get rid of the hot and sour soup at the end of the night anyway. Other than that occurrence, everything went well, and we will be back for more soup dumplings!
I've been here a handful of times, and this experience was no different than my previous ones. We came for brunch time on a Saturday and were seated immediately. Unfortunately, even though it didn't seem to be too busy, after we were seated, it seemed as if there server completely forgot about us. We were waiting about 20 minutes until the server finally came around to take our orders, and maybe another 20 minutes for the food to come out. The food is good, but definitely not like the authentic dim sum you can get in Chinatown for a cheaper price. An honorable mention, however, is definitely the crab and pork XLB! Very tasty with a strong crab taste. When we were close to being finished, we realized we never even received the fried chicken we ordered, and just decided not to get it. This place is good for the area since dim sum is very limited, however it's definitely not the best. It is worth checking out if you're in the area and in the mood for some dim sum.

Dumpling Hours' calling card is its Juicy Pan-Fried Pork buns. Its distinct crunchy bottom, plus a surprise soup inside the pork bun is such a delight. Overall, we really enjoyed the food here at Dumpling Hours. The Ginger and Scallion noodles were delicious, and of course the Xiao Long Bao was a delight. We actually came into the restaurant, 30 minutes before closing and the staff was accommodating and let us dine in the restaurant. So what gives for a 3-star rating? The food was good, and the staff were great. Well, Dumpling Hours priced their dim sum at an expensive price point. I reckon their prices are higher than all of the dim sum restaurants in the area. That Ginger and Scallion noodles is $17 and barely for two. Regardless, the Juicy Pan-Fried Pork buns is spectacular enough for us to come back here in Dumpling Hours, in moderation of course.
This was our pit stop for lunch on the way home from cherry picking. I don't know much about what Brentwood has to offer besides u-pick farms, so it was an ok Yelp find with a few hits and a few misses. The best thing we got was the sheng jian bao (pan fried pork buns). The outsides were crispy, the insides were perfectly juicy, and the filling was good. The xiao long bao and dry fried green beans were also good. The *new* shrimp dumplings (which are actually har gao, not reg steamed dumplings) were so mushy we couldn't pick any up without the wrapper falling apart and half of it staying behind on the steamer. And the green onion pancakes were also underwhelming--oddly dense and crunchy instead of flaky and light.
Seriously I just can't say enough great things about this restaurant. Located next to Creasian, Dumpling Hours is a good fix for those with a dumpling craving while wanting other dining options besides dumplings. Plenty of parking (spaces are a bit tight). In addition to dumplings and other traditional Taiwan style favorites, Dumpling Hours have other dining options. The Beef soup was decent and but their dumplings, Chicken Wings, and Brussel Sprouts are must try. The ordering is different. Their preferred method is to scan the QR code on the table to place your order and the waitstaff will bring your food (quick service). Getting their attention to bring you drinks can be challenging. Dumpling Hours feels like an informal restaurant, almost like a cafeteria with standard chairs, tables and crows, but it gets the job done!
We found Dumpling Hours on yelp after making the trip to Brentwood to pick cherries from San Jose. We were skeptical about this place since were spoiled from having such good dumplings in sj and Cupertino. We were pleasantly surprised! We ordered pork potstickers, pork XLB, sesame and chili wontons, and pan fried pork buns. The vegetarian springrolls were complimentary! The skins on the dumplings were really thin with a good bite. Overall flavors were mild and pretty good! If we are ever in the area again we would skip on the sesame and chili dumplings- we weren't w fan of how peanutbuttery it was. My favorites were the regular pork XLB and pan fried pork buns- they pack a lot of soup in them! Our waitress was extremely kind and overall made us smile by how warm she was. Had dinner here yesterday. It was decently busy especially for a Thursday early evening but not crowded or loud. The building is cute, I like the artwork! We ordered the fried chicken (wings) appetizer, juicy pan fried pork buns, shrimp and pork potstickers, and egg fried rice. Ended up being plenty of food for just the 2 of us and we had to take about half home. The wings were amazing, definitely my husbands favorite. Fried perfectly so the skin was crunchy and coated in a sweet & spicy sauce. Wasn't too sweet or too spicy, just right. The juicy pan fried pork buns were my favorite and are always a hit! They stay pretty hot on the inside with the liquid but cool down pretty quickly once you poke them/bite into them. The potstickers I thought were alright. They were open ended so tended to have the ingredients almost slide out one end. I would've preferred them to be a bit more crispy and had just a pork option (instead of pork and shrimp) but they weren't bad. Lastly the egg fried rice (which I didn't get a photo of) was a little disappointing. It looked more like steamed rice with egg rather than fried, and tasted kind of mushy. It was a bit lacking in flavor, would have liked some garlic or onion flavor in there. It was better when topped with the pork bun juice or soy sauce. Next time we want to try the noodles instead! Overall we had a good experience dining in. When you're done you just go up to the counter (without a bill) and they calculate your total there and you pay. Kinda nice so you don't have to wait for the bill, you can just get up to pay whenever you're ready. We ended up spending about $60 for the 2 of us for the wings, 2 dumplings, and fried rice. Would like to come back and try more dumplings, garlic green beans, and noodles! read more
Wow, hidden gem in the 'burbs, nestled in a mall-ish complex. Not busy and fast service. Scallion noodles were tender and perfectly seasoned, chicken wings were so crispy. Both dumplings we got were so fresh, juicy, soft, so flavorful!!! So good, whew. read more

Omg! This is the best place EVER. I cannot wait for a location to open near me. I loved every single item we ordered. We started off with the cucumber salad. We got one of everything to taste. However, my favorite dumpling was the pork one. I really did enjoy the food, and I couldn't stop eating even when I was sooooo full. The location in Berkeley is scheduled to open soon (I think) and honestly. I can't wait! Get a little bit of everything so you won't feel like you missed out. We also got the wonton soup, but really you can do without since there's so many options with the dumplings. read more

Starting off with the GREAT Juicy Pan Fried Dumplings . They legit EXPLODE flavor in your mouth. Hands down the best thing I've had here. I do love their green beans but $15 is too steep for me considering I can buy a whole bag and do this at home for cheap. I understand the dumplings being expensive bc they're hand made, but we got weird peanut butter on our pork wontons w/ Red Chili sauce . It didn't even taste or feel like peanut sauce, just peanut butter. The problem with that is it wasn't even supposed to be on there according to the food item description. This is a really huge deal for people with peanut allergies and could be dangerous if someone just put peanut butter in random dishes. Overall, I'm sure there's other tasty dishes here, but it's out of my price range for this type of food. read more
We were in the mood for Chinese food, but didn't want the typical generic stuff. We had heard good things about Dumpling Hours so decided to give them a try. We were wary of the menu items because of our unfamiliarity with much of the terminology, but the server was very helpful and friendly and helped us make our choices. The steamed Hot & Spicy Pork Xiao Long Bao and was delicious! Very delicate and crazy with flavor! The Juicy Pan Fried Pork Buns were also amazing! Not what I imagined, so I was totally impressed with the flavor and texture. A word of warning, these came to our table very hot, so let them cool a little before taking a bite, otherwise, you might squirt the hot juices on yourself (or neighbor!) Also got the Dan Dan Sesame Paste Dry Noodles, which was good but not what we were expecting. Next time we'll focus on the dumplings Dumpling Hours is a great addition to the food choices in Brentwood, something we really need out here. Everything we had tasted fresh and flavorful! My new favorite restaurant! Had to be in Antioch for business and tried this place with a friend. I have been there twice now and can't wait to go back! The service is fast and friendly and the food is unbelievably delicious and the presentation is great. Both times I went I tried different things and took recommendations from the server. The cucumber salad is so refreshing, the shumai is tasty, the green onion pancakes are delicious, all the xiao long bao on the menu is amazing and the juicy pan-fried pork buns are out of this world! They have a Chinese jasmine beer that is incredibly good! Can't recommend it enough! read more

Hidden amongst The Shops in Brentwood is the best kept secret in Contra Costa. The folks at Dumpling Hours craft the most authentic of authentic soup dumplings (小籠包 or XLB). Scalding and bursting with pork flavor soup in a finely molded, not too thin or thick, casing. A heft ball of pork and veggies. Everything fresh and working harmoniously. One cannot find them as good as Dumpling Hours (or its sister restaurant in San Francisco) outside of Shanghai or Taipei. Not in New York. Or LA. It's right here, and it's in our backyards. Also, the dumplings and fried dumplings were just as thoughtfully prepared as the XLB. Wings were crunchy and packing umami. Jellyfish and tofu skin salad were refreshing. Only thing lacking was the braised beef noodle soup, which was devoid of flavor. That's all right, as everything else was flawless. read more

So glad this is conveniently located in Streets of Brentwood.very nice ambiance,staff are friendly but not enough staff during busy hours,food is very good,i got my fix on dimsum soup,price is ok but they could be more generous on the amount of food,it was. a good experience on this restaurant,specially with their jasmine tea that actually have a real flower inside the tea pot. read more

We came to this restaurant after strawberry picking to have lunch and ordered some pork buns and xiao long bao. Pork buns came really quickly but we are not fan of it because its skin is not crispy at all. Xiao long bao came really slow but it's really good and one of the best ones I have ever had. The service is a bit on the slow side that day and at the end we have to go to the front desk to checkout. read more

We need to grab lunch and it needed to be delicious. Who doesn't love a good dumpling? Visiting family and was on Yelp just looking for anything that caught my eye. This place did just that. Then I read some reviews and drooled over photos! Came on a Thursday after 1. Was greeted and seated upon entering. Place had a few patrons. Music overhead was light and there is a huge tv on one end of the room that was set to the Lifetime channel. We were seated at a half booth table for 4. There were 3 of us. One of us is vegetarian so in searching on Yelp that was one of the pre-req's...some vegetarian options. We ordered the following: For apps: 1. Fried spring rolls (vegetarian): did what it needed to. Crunchy, fresh ingredients and paired with a side of sweet and sour for dipping pleasure. 2. Pork wontons: These were cute delicious pouches of pork meatballs fried in a wonton wrapper. 3. Cucumber and garlic: Refreshing and always a must! Great palate cleanser. For hunger quenching: 1. Pork XLB (8 pc): juicy, oh so JUICY! Delicious! 2. Vegetarian dumpling (8 pc): filling was delicious. Great ratio of all the things you want stuffed in a veggie dumpling. 3. Pan Fried Pork Bun: these reminded me of christmas stockings. I don't know why. But these suckers retain their heat so beware! Definitely a scorcher. 4. Crab and Shrimp XLB (4 pc): these were substantially bigger than the pork XLB but delicious nonetheless. 5. Garlic Green beans: crispy and vibrant in collar. Garlicky delicious! 6. Crispy Honey Chicken Wings: batter was oh so crispy and did not weigh the chicken down. That honey sauce was sticky and complimentary to the deep frying. So when we visited there was a promo that if you ordered $75 worth of food you were gifted an order of their Crispy Honey Chicken Wings. Such a delicious gift! Customer service was wonderful. Waitress kept out water glasses filled and checked on us a couple times. The only thing disappointing is the lack of sweets or desserts. The closest thing on their menu to a dessert was a pancake with red bean paste. Please add some desserts to your menu..pretty please.... We'll be back! read more

Service was very good, but more importantly, the food is authentic. Clean , not over powering, and quite refreshing. I ordered pigs ears, scallions pancake, Shao lung bao, pork dumplings, fried pork bun, braised beef noodle soup, spicy beef noodle soup, Ja Jung mien, and fried chicken wings. All was very good, but my favorites are the spicy beef noodle soup, fried pork buns, and pigs ears! Can't wait to go back and try more! read more
Great dumpling place! Their xao long pao comes in 4 or 8. Price for 8 ranges about $15, highly recommend their spicy edition. The cucumber salad was so flavorful and crunchy. I also tried the Dan Dan noodles with pork which is a sesame sauce. Chicken wings is also good and they have a special if you spend more than $60 dollars, you get a free order of their crispy chicken wings. Service was good, my party came in right when they open. They also have an option to order online on your phone. It's pretty quiet inside and service is attentive. read more

Authentic Yum Cha, small selection but what they have is very tasty and delicious. Ham sui gok is my favorite, Ji ma kua is my wife's favorite! Also Lo mia gai is very fresh and big! Will definitely go back often!! Some of the staff doesn't speak Chinese so you will need to figure out what their description really mean like Ham Soy gok is described as fried Mochi! Haha that's a Japanese word and food not Chinese. In any case everything we tried was good. read more

We ordered way too much food. Two more baskets of steamed dumplings came out after this photo was taken. And still for all of it it was only $100 for the three of us to feast and take home a few. Highly recommend, good for date night, girls brunch, and kids would love it too. Very happy we have a great dumpling spot now read more
