I have been wanting to try Dumpling Queen since it opened, I'm so glad we finally made it over! The airstream is so cute, the patio area is friendly and inviting and who doesn't love fire pits! The staff were both super helpful and quick to make quality recommendations. The dumplings were piping hot (as they should be) despite the cold cold weather and of course the XJC dumplings were tasty per usual. We tried the chicken, pork and pork with shrimp dumplings and my favorite was for sure the shrimp and pork, especially with the hot mustard aioli and black garlic ginger sauce. Really, really enjoyed the black sesame and the ginger ice cream that they offer for dessert. Looking forward to coming back in the summer for a chill night on the patio! read more

I order only dumplings from this place. This might be a hidden gem in Reno. Prices are very reasonable, service is very fast and the ambiance is okay! If you have a late-night craving for dumplings in Reno, this is the best place! There is another place within UNR that serves the best dumplings, but that place remains closed during the Summer session! read more

This is such a gem I almost don't want to disclose it. Amazing outdoor patio area. Large projector that we were able to watch college football on. Simple menu to not over complicate things. Pork, Shrimp and pork, or chicken. choose some sauce(s) and go . They have pork buns too i think, but those aren't my jam, so I just stick with the dumplings. Come in here. Smash some dumplings and love your life! read more

If you know me, you know there's one food that reigns supreme in my heart: xiao long bao. I will literally drive an hour out of my way in the Bay Area to hit up some of my favorite dumpling spots, and when I heard that Reno FINALLY had a place that served them, I just about had a heart attack. It seemed like THE perfect place for my hundredth review! The concept is cute enough- dumplings are prepared out of a little air stream trailer parked Abby's Highway 40 bar (which is also very cute, but I didn't get anything there to review). Plenty of outdoor seating and a large TV playing football, although when I went none of the heating elements were on. You place your order at the trailer and then you wait for about 15 minutes while they steam the dumplings. The good- Pricing is decent- 5 dumplings for $7, 10 for $13. I opted to get two different types of dumplings, the shrimp/pork and the pork dumplings. They also are working on a vegetarian option. Where the meal really shone was the sauces. I got the chili crisp and the black vinegar and both were really good. I also appreciated the volume of sauce that you get. The meh- the dumplings are prepared from frozen dumplings (per their site, a partnership with XCJ Chinese Street Food out of Washington). I'm happy to have ANY dumplings, so I'm not gonna be picky, but compared to a traditional xlb place where they're making them there they're just okay. The bad- Every. single. one of my dumplings ripped because the cook crammed all of the dumplings into one little basket. When the dumplings touch each other the delicate skin rips and all of the soup pours out. I thought it might be me but looking at other people's pictures, it seems like that's just how they serve them here. Major bummer. Will I be back? 100% I will because I'm a (censored) for dumplings and I'll take what I can get. However, I hope that they reconsider how they serve them. Traditional places serve takeout xlb in small flat aluminum cups or spaced out in an appropriately sized takeout container. Maybe they could consider one of these options so we don't lose the soupy goodness? read more

Only soup dumplings I've found in town. Hits the spot always. Love the outdoor seating area with the fire pits. And they got a DJ on the weekends that's always a vibe! I always do the 10-10-10 for all three flavors and all the sauces! Takes a minute to cook but the staff is always nice :) read more

About a 12 min walk from the circus circus so we decided to give it a try. Food is nothing special. We believe it to all be bought it frozen and steamed to order. Came here on Saturday around 6:00pm and surprised we and another couple were the only ones there. I'm giving this place a 4* for the ambiance and 3* for the food. read more

Love this hidden food truck behind Abby's Highway 40 in downtown! Can't really find soup dumplings anywhere else in Reno. Tried the shrimp and pork, chicken, both bao buns the veggie and pork and the scallion noodles! A few sauces offered to make the perfect bite. The patio here is awesome with huge TV and the fire place has plenty of seating as well. I love this space, there's so much outdoor space and it's great for a evening out, there's firepits that you can sit around and the ambiance is great. I came to Abby's for one of their movie nights and ordered the student special of 10 dumplings and an Arizona for $11 and then also ordered their noodles. It ended up taking around 30 minutes for my order to come out and probably closer to 45 minutes for my friends. I felt bad because there was only one employee working in the airstream and he had quite the line of people and was clearly getting overwhelmed with the amount of work he had. The food was tasty and I love the dumplings here but I hope they hire more so that way the service time is quicker and the employees get to enjoy their job a bit more. read more

I don't know if these are house made XLBs but all I'm going to say is that they taste a lot like the Mila dumplings from Costco. I also saw one of the workers pull the bao buns from a bag. The dan dan noodles resembled more spaghetti bolognese than authentic Dan Dan noodles. I mean at least you get to eat by a fireplace. read more

The place is out of the way but has plenty of parking. The outdoor seating is great with two fire pits large screen TV and plenty of tables and chairs. The food is just ok. Ordered the XLB and when I took a bite I expected it to be super hot but it wasn't. The way it came it came in paper containers made it hard to pickup without popping them. We tried both the noodles dishes and they were just ok too. For the price we paid I would not come again. read more

Food was just ok no where near worth the hour long wait, 30 minutes longer then the estimate wait so I had to stand and wait in the snow for them to finish heating up the pre-prepped food. Wasn't clear this was just a small food truck behind a bar. Parking lot said for bar patrons only or you'd be towed but it was really for dumpling queen too because they are affiliated. read more

The cutest little airstream serving up delicious treats. Nestled in the back of Abby's 40 l. It's has a wonderful outdoor seating area. Or you can sit inside the Air Conditioned bar. I am a noodle queen so when I saw the dumpling queen offering noodles I had to stop by. I ordered the Dan Dan Spicy Noodles. Perfect cooked noodles topped with spicy pork, peanuts and scallions. I'll definitely be back to try the vegan garlic version. read more

This restaurant is out of a trailer next to a bar. The dumplings were decent. One of the sauces we ordered was not included. The chicken dumplings had much less flavor than the pork ones. I had never tried the bbq veggie buns before. They have a very interesting texture to them and the flavor of the filling was great. I ordered 15 chicken and 5 pork dumplings and 2 orders of the buns. It was not enough food for the 3 of us who ate, which was myself and my two kids. Keep that in mind, especially if getting the food to go. Service was okay. read more

What an awesome little hidden gem. Located in the patio of Abby's Highway 40 Bar, it's an airstream truck that makes soup dumplings to order. We ordered 10 pork soup dumplings and a bbq pork bun. We were told 15 minute wait, so we headed inside the bar and ordered some drinks. We were here around 9pm, they had 2 fire places going, music, and a hockey game on a projection screen, we grabbed a table and waited for some of the best dumplings Reno has to offer. The chili garlic oil was amazing! We also had their black vinegar ginger soy sauce was pretty good too. I will definitely come back and order more dumplings. read more

Such a cool spot! I had heard about Dumpling Queen on instagram and it has been on my list of places to try. They have a gravel parking lot in the back with plenty of places to park. We came on a Saturday evening and the ambience is such a vibe! They had March Madness games being projected on a TV screen, string lights lit, and the fire pits going. The large fire pit might be the biggest one I've ever seen. Not only was it aesthetically pleasing, but it also gives off quite a bit of heat to keep you warm on cooler nights. There is a bar next door that shares this patio, so you can go in to get a drink and bring it outside to enjoy with your food. I am in grad school so was able to get their student deal which is 10 dumplings + Arizona iced tea for $10! I got the pork/shrimp dumplings with soy sauce and chili crisp sauce. The wait wasn't too long, we enjoyed sitting out by the fire and watching the game in the meantime. The dumplings were delicious! The dumplings themselves were not too thick or thin, they did not fall apart while eating them. Plenty of filling on the inside. It would've been useful to have a soup spoon in addition to the chopsticks since I was eating each one in 2 bites and did not want to lose too much of the soup from the inside. The chili crisp sauce was amazing! I used it for every dumpling. My husband tried the chicken dumplings and thought the pork/sausage ones were better. I wish they had more side options available, the only things on the menu besides dumplings were spicy peanuts plus some desserts. 10 dumplings were not enough to fill me for an entire dinner for the night (my husband and I are both over 6ft tall and had been skiing all day, we might need more food than the average person!). I'm sure they might expand their menu eventually, but some type of side to go with the dumplings would be nice to make it feel like a fuller meal! I would come here again in the warmer months for an appetizer or late night snack and to hang on their patio, but probably would go elsewhere if looking for a full meal. read more

Location wise, this place is not in the best part of town, but what they have done with the place is really nice! Beautiful outdoor patio seating area with fire pits, a screen, and string lights. In terms of food, the temperature of the food was off. Lukewarm rather than hot. The dumplings too also didn't seem handmade and reminded me of Trader Joe's soup dumplings. Services fast friendly, wait was about 40-50 minutes. For the price, not sure I would get again. read more

This place was a little hard to find.. but then we saw the signs to park in the rear. The girl there was super friendly and helpful with our orders. We tried the 5 piece classic pork dumpling and the 5 piece chicken. Both were good...the pork were probably better than the chicken. The broth (soup) in the soup dumplings were good in both. The broth in the chicken dumplings reminded me of the flavor of won ton soup. There is so many dumplings available in other cities but considering that we dont have many choices available here... they were good. The only thing was the size of them... they were pretty small. This place is a delicious hidden gem on 4th street, by the St. Vincent's. Outdoor seating only. Kinda romantic, private. We had a fantastic time. 30 dumplings and two beers for $60, including tip. Delicious dumplings in a unique, vibrant location. I tried both the chicken and the pork soup dumplings, excellent! Enjoyed inside Abby's with a dark beer and two recommended sauces - mustard and a vinegar blend. Seasoned and served perfectly, could have been a bit hotter (I like my food steaming!) In town working for the week in Tahoe. My daughter wanted dumplings so found this place and took the drive. I am so glad we did. The dumplings are cooked to perfection and quite tasty. So much so that I had to pick up another 10 when I completed my initial order. Nice calm setting to chill and enjoy the great weather. The gents working were very hospitable and quick to get our food out. 10 out of 10 for me. Run don't walk if you want some good grub!! read more

Dumplings were tasty, but not as hot as they claimed to be. Ours came out slightly more than lukewarm which took away from the flavor honestly. They also only had chili oil and hot mustard available. I was disappointed at first but when I mixed together it was actually bomb. The chili oil is not spicy at all, which I'm sure would disappoint some folks but it was perfect for me. Overall, probably really good when you're drunk lol. But not the best when sober. Atmosphere was nice though, hanging lights and plenty of seating around bonfires outside. read more

I really wish this place was better :( The online ordering wasn't working so I called and the woman I spoke to hated her life. She decided to take this out on me. So not a great first experience to begin with. The dumplings are only OK. They are not handmade and not worth the price (seriously not worth it) BUT if you are bar hopping in that area then the other reviews are right! These would be great for a snack after a few drinks. Do NOT recommend just eating here for dinner though. read more

I think I've discovered the perfect bar food. This place has a very small menu currently but what they offer is absolutely delicious! If you want to place an order on a cold day and head back inside of Abby's to get warm, have no fear! They have a buzzer system so you can grab your order! The rich New Zealand stir fried lamb and shiitake mushrooms over pea shoots was a fabulous hearty dish on this chilly March evening. The braised short ribs were so tender no knife was needed, they flaked apart with the fork. And the e mein noodles were perfectly al dente. The dinner wrapped up with a crème brûlée that only Kwok's could pull off - red bean. Creamy smooth. Not overwhelming. The perfect burnt sugar layer on top. The regular menu is just as delicious.
