My family and I have ordered here at least 3 or 4 times and it's always been good and consistent. The ones who are complaining might be ordering the wrong things or simply just don't understand this type of Chinese cuisine (Chinese food is more than just orange chicken and walnut shrimp, duh). I love the vegetable dumplings, the noodles are handmade and you can taste the difference, and the xiao long baos are a favorite. I also enjoy their green onion pancake and beef roll. Disappointed overall. We tried Dumpling Village out because of the great reviews. We ordered House Fried Chicken Wings, Popcorn Chicken, Lamb Skewers, Pork Xiao Long Bao, Sautéed Egg with Tomatoes, Salt and Pepper Pork Ribs, and Sliced Szechuan Beef. Total with tip and delivery was over $90, and we threw away almost all of the food. It was that bad. Most of the food was very salty and fried. The kids liked the popcorn chicken and white rice. My wife liked the eggs and tomatoes. Reminded us of when we stayed with some friends in Beijing. The dumplings were very soggy. The sliced beef was cold, which was unexpected, and tasted like it was cold leftover meat from a bowl of Pho. The "ribs" were a huge disappointment as they were mostly deep fried fat and gristle. We couldn't taste the meat at all. Just all salt, fat, and batter deep fried. Skewers and chicken wings tasted salty and greasy. There are many good Chinese food restaurants in town. How do you scold at the only customer present for ordering from the 'wrong' site? How would the customer know to use one website versus another? We ordered directly from YOUR website. I went here last month and it was my first time. The guy who took our order was very helpful and nice. He suggested items for us to try. Today, I went back and ordered some more because they were just filling and delicious. I ordered the pan friend pork bun dumplings; they were so nice and juicy. I also order the pork and cabbage dumplings, my current go-to! We also ordered the popcorn chicken and to be honest, they were very cheap for the big bowl they gave us. We also ordered Pork Belly Bao. I thought the portions would be small, but they are very generous of their portions. Coming home from LA to be with my family during covid, one of the things I expected to miss the most were my weekly trips to the SGV for really good food. Rancho has been steadily improving over the years in its variety and authenticity of different foods (the Sichuan restaurants on archival and baseline are all very solid) but I was still worried life wouldnt be the same without a good weekly bowl of noodles. Thank goodness Dumpling Village exists. The food doesn't just compete with the SGV main stays--it in some dishes surpasses them. The Chongquing Spicy Noodles here are among the best I've had anywhere. The braised pork belly is THE best I've had: sweet, savory, and almost too tender for chopsticks. Seriously exceptional. Much of the rest of the menu is also a cut above: sizzling beef plate is crazy tender, green beans are delicious, and nothing is too oily. The namesake dumplings are quite solid as well. The prices are beyond fair for the quality and quantity of food. I'd be remiss not to mention the kindness of the owner, who spent five patient minutes with my mom trying to figure out a dish she was describing off of Yelp pictures (#89, I believe, which also ROCKS.) He also maintains one of the most covid safe restaurant experiences in Rancho, which means a lot in these times. I really love Dumpling Village. This place is a small, straight up, no frills place for great dumplings! That said, what really blew me away was that I came here during Coronavirus, and I asked for a cup of water, and the owner gave me a whole ice cold bottle of water, for free! First of all I am disappointed to leave a negative review. Upon arriving around lunch time at a surprising empty restaurant. My wife and I entered the restaurant with no greeting. We sat down on a table because my wife doesn't like table booths. Immediately after sitting we were told to by the short hair Chinese lady to relocate because they were going to clean the floors in that area. We moved to the middle aisle table. Again we were told to move to the far left tables which are booths. The tone of the waitress voice was a little alarming. My wife is half Chinese and in some customs and cultures in china they have that type of tone and can perceive as rude. I am Filipino American and also a military Veteran so I am already hot and bothered from how we are treated. Immediately my wife and I before we even ordered said we ain't going back here again.
