The day I lost my mother, I spoke with him expecting compassion, patience and professionalism during one of the most difficult moments of my life. Instead, I felt dismissed and disrespected. Throughout our conversations, he repeatedly interrupted me, talked over me, and even threatened to hang up the phone. Rather than listening to my concerns, he continued trying to persuade me to purchase an urn from his website after I had already explained multiple times that I had purchased one through Amazon. This was my first experience making funeral arrangements. I'm an only child, my father had already passed years ago and now I had just lost my mother. I was navigating the entire process alone, overwhelmed, grieving, and simply trying to do the best I could. Instead of receiving understanding and guidance, I felt like I was treated with impatience and hostility, which only made an already heartbreaking situation even more difficult. Over the course of a little more than a month, I spoke with Mr. Giancola approximately 5 times, and at least 3 of those conversations became unneccesscarily confrontational. I remained respectful in every interaction, addressing him politely, saying "please" and "thank you" and doing my best to communicate calmly. Unfortunately I did not feel that same respect was returned. As our conversations continued, I began to feel that I was being treated differently. While I cannot know the reason for his behavior, the experience left me questioning whether bias may have played a role. Regardless of the reason, I left every last conversation feeling unheard, disrespected and emotionally drained. It is heartbreaking that my mother's final arrangements are associated with such a negative experience. During a time when families need empathy, compassion, and professionalism the most, I did not receive any of those qualities from the OWNER. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this funeral home. I hope no one else has to endure additional stress and emotional pain while grieving the loss of a loved one. But not only was that enough for him, he learned of my review and I'm assuming didn't like what was said he reached out to a family member of mine who happen to live in Chicago because I live in another state and this family member happened to be the one to go pick up my mother's remains this guy ( MARK THE OWNER) convinced my relative who only interacted with him twice and is unaware of the horrible experience i had, to leave a more positive review for his liking which was absolutely irrelevant being that my relative only spoke to Mark twice then Mark (THE OWNER) calls me today not to apologize for his actions but to remind me of how "helpful" he felt he was and how "comforting" he's been to me and advised me to reconsider my review and give him points for allegedly being "helpful" and "comforting" the nerve of this guy!!!

The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Before his passing, we had an initial visit with Michael regarding plot selection and he was helpful with helping us pick the location that best met our needs. No pressure, just a friendly visit and discussion. After he passed, we then worked with Sherry and Arlene to purchase the plot, casket, vault, shroud, death certificates, etc. The cost was substantial, but I imagine it is likely in line with other Jewish cemeteries in the area. Included in the cost is perpetual care of the grounds so there are no additional fees down the road. The chapel for his service was very nice and all of the people working there that day were super friendly. They live streamed his service which many in my family used. They also provided the ability to download the service which I decided to do. Shalom Memorial received the death certificates a few days afterwards from the village and we picked them right away so we could begin sending them to those who needed them. I really can't think of anything that I didn't like or was disappointed in.

While this process is always difficult, it couldn't have been easier or more smooth. Tony was wonderful: caring, thoughtful, resourceful, patient, and quick. He moved us through the decision-making process easily, recommended a rabbi and a Shiva location, and made things happen.
