Decided to hunt down a few different locations and this one popped up in the hunt. Location is a small space in a little plaza. Staff was friendly, recommended the strawberry donut. Price was 2 bucks a donut, so towards the higher side. Donut was fresh, dense with a heavy sugar shell and a strong artificial strawberry flavor. Not bad, but I prefer the lighter yeasty style donuts than the denser, sugar laden ones. As a local donut shop, it's good. The quality is there, but the donuts are not my style. They are good classic dunker style doughnuts though.

When my wife worked in West Hartford, Elmwood was a popular office destination for lunch, because they gave you a free cookie with every sandwich! Their menu is an embarrassment of tempting riches, with pastries, pies, deli and breakfast sandwiches, cookies, cupcakes, donuts, full cakes, breads, and rolls of every flavor and description. We stopped in yesterday for a few assorted odds and ends- cookies, donuts, and a wonderful loaf of soft rye bread. The donuts were obviously fresh made and well executed. They were smartly packaged too. I tried parts of a cruller, a crumb, a cherry, a chocolate toasted coconut and a toasted coconut. All tasty. Great texture. High quality donuts. Gerry's has a classic vibe. There are some tables and some counter seats. Everybody I saw got takeout. Service was helpful and efficient.
