We are back. The snow melted so we could drive here. I love this food. We've having green tea with the meal. We ordered two Mantu's. No soup today. That's a disappointment. I love the soup here. Plus with this cold weather it would be extra welcome. Service is good as always. He welcomed us back. They do have some pictures on the wall to help make the place feel more comfortable. Honestly this is one of the best meals in Richmond. You know when you take your first bite and you immediately start nodding your head yes to those around you? That is this place. Don't be deterred, you will leave full happy and eager to have it again. If they offered a cooking class to learn how to make some of their delicious offerings, I would be the first in line to take the class. Incredible. Wow... this is the best kebab in RVA. This restaurant just opened and I am so glad I saw a Facebook post about this restaurant. It is tucked inside of a shopping center on West Broad. The owner is so kind. She kindly greeted us when we walked in and was so so nice. She even gave us complimentary soup. She recommended that we try the deluxe kebab (lamb, chicken, and beef) to share between two people which also comes with one side (we chose chickpeas), salad, naan, and rice (the brown rice is so good). The naan tasted so fresh. And the kebab meat was so tender and perfectly seasoned. The restaurant is more casual and is very clean. I will definitely come back again!!! Not my first time trying Afghan food, so I knew what to expect--and this place delivered. The food and service were great! The lady taking my order was very friendly and recommended some excellent entrées. Portions were generous for the price; I had enough for lunch and dinner. I've been on the hunt for the longest time for a bomb Afghan spot in RVA & this spot definitely tops all the other spots!! It's soo good! Their Afghan food is very authentic and not greasy at all. I got the lamb kabob combo and I honestly think you get a good amount of food for $18. My lamb was cooked to perfection as it was juicy and tender. I definitely recommend trying out the lamb or the chicken kabob combo with brown rice & eggplant if this is your first time trying Afghan food. You will not be disappointed! The chicken soup that they also serve you on the side is sooo good and well seasoned. I also tried the bolani as well, & it was very fresh & hot. Feedback is for improvement, and I truly hope the management takes action. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, but unfortunately the food did not meet expectations. The shawarma portion was very small, and the bread was extremely soft to the point of becoming almost mushy. It didn't taste like shawarma at all. The lamb kabob and the Shaami (Kobida) kabob had a strong lamb smell, possibly because they were not seasoned well enough. Overall, the dishes were not as flavorful as those at other Afghan restaurants in the area. However, the rice and the naan were tasty. read more

So happy our friends told us about this hidden gem! We were immediately greeted and made to feel comfortable and excited to order. The owner was so welcoming, kind, and helpful, she really made the place shine. My husband had the delicious lamb shank(cleared his plate), I had the Peshwari Chaplee Kabob, so flavorful, I loved the spices and crisp edges.. and we both shared the naan, eggplant and chickpeas. The hospitality is top tier and the environment is so inviting. Their food is the most authentic in RVA according to my Afghan friend, it's delicious and super hearty. I recommend the lamb chops (Chopan Kabob) with eggplant as the side and the Mantu or the Aushak. I have lived near west end for about 5 years now and have tried almost all of the restaurants offering Afghan good but this one is by far the best restaurant I have been to. Their bread was cooked to perfection which made the meal a great experience. When i got to a restaurant i look for portion size, taste, cleanliness, and staff behaviour and i can tell that everything was right on the mark.I ordered their Chapli kabob which was mouth watering with great blend of spices. The place is super clean and the staff is great. They even offered me a free appetizer to try (kadu) which was very kind of them and indeed very tasteful. My brother flew in from Dubai and I had to take him to a good place to eat since there are so many great places to eat in the UAE. We tried Dunya Kabob and they really went way over our expectation! The food was very delicious and extremely well portioned. The meat was so tender and each order came with a huge loaf with yogurt sauce to dip. Last not least was the hospitaliy. The owners were so warm and friendly suggesting us this and that! We have become loyal customers.
