Terrible management. They continue charging you after you stop the lessons! When I read the previous complaints and reviews. I am not surprised. The front desk doesn't know what they are doing. Nobody takes the phone, either. But they automatically charge you. BTW, the swimming classes are not good, either. I have purchased 10-class semi private package... but didn't expect to have the classes with 4 different coaches (substitutes). Therefore, whenever there is new coach, he/she doesn't know my kids' levels and so they have to waste class time for testing... Not recommend to anyone! read more

I am putting 1 review for these place because my son is going there for over two years now. Swim lessons are pretty expensive. We missed a class by mistake because the schedule changes. But when approached them to reconsider rescheduling the class very next morning, they did slap on my face with Policy. In other occassions as well I have find these people are very non-cooperative but I thought of not going out and provide a bad feedback. i have been trying to a refund for private lessons for 5 months. I paid for the classes, missed a couple of sessions (called within the designated timeframe to alert them), and was moved off the schedule. I have no issue with this, but the amount of effort to get refunded is ridiculous. No one seems to know the policy or procedure for this and it is utterly annoying. Our private instructor was actually really good, but the front desk shenanigans are not worth it. read more

Horrible management. They don't have an updated system to keep track of your lessons. So it's pretty much your word against theirs.

I had an excellent experience at the center. I had started back in December of 2023 where I need to prepare for a swim test. The rates for lane swimming were reasonable and I liked the fact that the facility was clean. I didn't have any issues with the staff and they were very patient with all the questions I had. I soon realized that I needed help as I was barely able to go one length of the pool. For the test, I had to do 75 yards with any front stroke and 25 yards with a resting backstroke. I realized I needed private lessons if I was going to have any chance of passing the test. This is where Jim came in. In my very first 30 minute private lesson, he asked me to show him how I swim. After moving a very short distance he told me stop and he knew what I needed to do to fix how I was swimming. He gave me pointers right off the bat which helped me get from one end to the other in a few lessons. I kept doing the lap swims on my own and each week, we improved my front crawl. We then added the breaststroke. I soon was able to complete the 100 yard swim test at the center. I ended up passing the test with flying colors! Now I'm taking more lessons to improve my breaststroke so that I can keep swimming for a good workout to start my day. I can't thank Jim enough for helping me get through the test! read more

Terrible management. After seeing many complaints about management, I thought people might be exaggerating but no they're right. They messed up with with our credits few times but I was continuing with them. But due to pandemic we didn't go to classes for longer period of time due to covid fear. Later when we reached out to use those credits, management replied those credits were expired and they can't do anything. I understand usual times this makes sense but when we are in pandemic situation they should have done something about this. read more

Coach Jim is an excellent swim instructor. He worked with my 10 year old son in private lessons and he made incredible improvements in all four strokes that translated to significant time drops on swim team. Jim is great with kids and very knowledgeable. The private lessons were well worth it for the added 1 on 1 instruction. read more

The instructor was good, reception desk and management are a night mare, one girl there she acts if she is blind or we are invisible, she has no clue, rude and I really dread seeing her, the manager if that place has a manager is never there and never returns a call, I think he/she thinks they are managing NASA. Their way with customers once they collect the money is absolutely not acceptable. I have been trying to get my COVID refund for over a year and I still have not, promised many times that I will get it this week and that week, emailed , send messages through the portal , no one cares, a year later and still without a refund. If there is a no star option I would have chosen it. read more

While I enjoyed the 25 yard lap pool everything else was terrible. Dirty facilities, dirty pool. The guards would start cleaning the floors with comet during open swim and wouldn't care if it splashed into the pool where you'd be swimming. Nothing like swallowing chemicals before bed. The guards made it seem like you were the worse person around if you wanted to swim close to close. I was a paying customer and more than 12 times I had to wait for a lane to open. My time was wasted as was my money. Also, if you want your kids to not learn how to swim properly or be bullied by adults bring th here! read more

The BEST swim instruction in the Fox Valley. Over the last 6 years my son has taken swim lessons from several different pools, but DUPAGE gives lessons that focus on PROPER TECHNIQUE and CONDITIONING, and really prepares their swimmers for swim team. They also have a GREAT make-up policy. This has been a sore spot for such a long time with us. If my son got sick he could miss 2-3 lessons in a row. Other places will not let you make-up more than 1 lesson per session, and so those were wasted lessons & $$$'s. Extremely frustrating! The facilities are not the newest and they do get very crowded on weekends. However, for REAL swim lessons this is the place to go & to stick with! read more

This not the place if you want your child to be treated with kindness. My daughter took both parent tot and white level intro classes. My daughter is diagnosed speech delay. During a lesson several weeks ago class ended early with her crying and I was told she puked in the pool. Subsequently she started refusing to bathe, having nightmares and screaming "no swim" and "don't want want wash face. Scared" when I went into her room. She was having meltdowns with crying and shaking when we drove near the swim building. I emailed and called for 6 days asking for answers. I was not given any answers via email and was only called during my work hours when I stated I was unavailable. When I finally got a hold of the general manager after a week I was told that submersion is part of the curriculum and my feedback was neglected with statements such as "we are short staffed and the person who was supposed to mark your child as having a speech delay in the roster resigned after five days" and "sorry you feel that way." I understand that her instructor has 15 years of experience and has previously worked with kids with disabilities but she was not notified about my child's speech delay. I was not able to get an answer as to how they obtain consent from a child before submerging them or how they might work around water task refusal and anxiety with children. This instructor made a poor choice which now has resulted in intense fear and anxiety with my daughter due to submerging her. All I wanted was a genuine apology and to know that things will be done differently next time but I was not afforded that. Instead the general manager largely focused on staffing shortages and blamed those. I do feel like the instructor perhaps was genuinely remorseful about the incident but it was the attitude of the general manager which ultimately did it for me. We will not be returning. If you're looking for a place that is child centered this is not it. Just because you have taught 1 million classes doesn't mean that you did right by my child. read more

My three-year-old has been taking lessons at DuPage Swimming Center for three months now. She has gone from being afraid to put her face in the water to now being able to blow bubbles, being able to completely submerge herself on her own, and being able to kick and propel herself forward while floating on her front. This is entirely thanks to their friendly, enthusiastic instructors. She has loved all three teachers she's worked with. The staff has always been excited to greet her when she arrives, and they do a great job of making the lessons fun and engaging. read more

Worst place to come for swim lessons. first off the management is HORRIBLE. the owner (Ross) and his daughter (Lauren) don't care about customers except to get their money. they will keep charging you too so don't give them your credit card info unless you want random charges made. it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of anyone at the front desk and when you actually do, they have no idea what they are doing. the organization at this place is the worst I've ever experienced. another reason never to come to this place is the fact that the chlorine in the pool is extremely high, my kids got a rash from chemical burns because the chlorine was over a 10. it's supposed to be between 2-3 levels according to health code standards and its definitely at a 10+ level. I brought in my own testing kit and tested it myself so I know 100% that it is not up to health code standards. i talked to the front desk about it asking to speak to the manager (Lauren) and they told me she wasn't in the office. I have seen her before and know who she is and what she looks like and I literally saw her sitting in the back office at her computer completely ignoring my complaints at the front desk. they don't care at all what happens to their customers as long as they get your money and payment info. I've also heard they treat their employees like crap! DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS TO THIS FACILITY!!! Literally the worst pool in the Chicago lane area.. read more

This place is the best to learn how to swim! I started taking adult lessons last February with zero swimming skills: didn't know how to blow bubbles, panicked every time my face went into the water, couldn't let my feet off the bottom of the pool. And just today, I was able to swim 100 yards! Jim has been my instructor since the beginning and he is one of the best! I'm very grateful with him for teaching me proper technique and basic skills. Jim is very patient too and is willing to show how to do the strokes over and over until you get the concept. I will keep coming for intermediate lessons because swimming is now one of my hobbies and I want to learn all the strokes and keep building confidence to swim in deep water. read more

I am giving it 5 stars because my son is 9 and I took him to at least 4,5 swimming schools and he still didn't know how to swim . I did my research and I looked for a place that has a different approach and has well trained and experienced teachers. We were directed to Jim which has over 25 years of teaching experience with adults and kids. After less than 5 individual lessons my son was able to swim by himself 75 yards without stopping . I recommend Jim with all my heart. He is professional, kind and attentive, encouraging and has a great communication and teaching skills. read more

This review is for Jim at Dupage Swimming Center. Me and my wife get semi-private lessons with him every week, and we could not have asked for a better swim instructor. He is extremely patient, and has taught us proper techniques. I had trouble with my breathing which Jim has helped me greatly improve, and my wife was practically afraid of getting in the water when we first started, and is now extremely comfortable in the water and enjoys swimming now. As far as the Center goes, they have an excellent make-up policy in case you need to cancel your lesson. Only one improvement that I would suggest is it would be great if the pool is consistently a few degrees warmer, especially in the winter. read more

We have been attending Dupage Swim Center for a few years now and the facility is always neat and clean as is the water. There is a teacher there with a bad attitude that needs to go, but that was one bad apple in the dozen or so teachers we have had. We highly recommend Jennifer and Hannika. I have had three children take swim lessons at Dupage swim center. I recommend finding another place for your swim lessons. The instructors do a good job teaching, but the front office support is the worst. They never answer the phone-ever. You will call a few times, leave a message, and then maybe they'll call you back-maybe they won't. When you ask about it, they will aggressively assert they called you back, but have no proof they did. If you miss a lesson, tough stuff for for you. I asked if we could make up one lesson my kids missed which was totally my fault. No, you can't. I'm on my third kid and have spent thousands of dollars here, but no consideration given to that. I recommend you find a swim place that's easier to work with and you'll be happier. Your kids will learn to swim wherever you take them, so avoid this place and avoid fighting with them. read more

So, it took almost 6 months for me to come to this determination. Me and my neighbor's daughter started a swimming regiment in early 2014. Being from a competitive swimming background, I hold a higher standard to "lap swim" pools. We have finally had enough of paying to stand around and wait for an open lane. Or having to share with poor children that can't swim an entire lap. The fact that they have lessons and life guard training (classes up to 30) all at the same time as "open swim" is unprofessional. We all pay for something and if we pay for a lane we want to use it. They need to work on scheduling. And only a hour and a half open time is very discerning. Not recommended. read more

Management treats customers as expendable and if you get into any issue with what their instructor does, they will not support you. The instructor dunked my 4 year old son 3 times during a lesson and shouted at him for not listening. We complained but management did not want to do anything and denied it happened the way we saw it. They will go as far as saying they don't have a video record when they have video cameras all over the pool area just to avoid reviewing. All we asked was an apology from the swim instructor and they couldn't do that for a paying customer. We asked for a refund and they charged us $25 as refund fee. I would peg this as A-OK with 3 stars. If 4 stars had a little less exuberant description I would've chosen that one. We've been going here for 5+ years. My kids have made it from white up to passing green. They do a good job teaching the kids which in the end is the most important item. Also, their customer service has improved immensely in the last two years. They went from having a rude and disinterested staff to being helpful and more customer friendly. There is a $25 fee for refunds. However, they're very easy to cancel lessons when things come up so we've had different amounts on account for several years and no issues with getting credits or applying them to registration. Also, this is the first time I've needed to request a refund now that all my kids are done - they faxed me the form which goes to what I mentioned about them being much more customer friendly than in year's past. read more
