The good: coffee is decent and staff is always very friendly. Cinnamon rolls are outstanding and you can grab their coffee by the bag. The bad: gluten free options for food are limited and taste terrible. Smoothies recently changed recipe and are no longer good (used to be amazing). Not sure if they screwed it up last few times or it's a new recipe. read more

I've been to Durango lots of times and I always make sure I go here. I love the atmosphere and the service is always great, the coffee is amazing. The last time I went I saw the Durango & Silverton train go by right as I was walking in! Amazing place, definitely go here if you want good coffee. read more

"Everyone deserves a smile, warm greeting, and a great cup of coffee." Heading out of town we wanted a nice local roasted coffee to send us on our way. We got that here at Durango Joes. Many different coffees (like the classics to signature drinks) and tea options to choose from, and my daughter was able to get her foo foo drink. They also have alternative milks for Coffees and Tea. For me I just drink mine black, and Durango Joe's has a pretty good tasting one. If your a pastry person they have a good assortment of the typical American standards. Danish, Muffins, Cookies, Scones and Croissants. I was going to get a breakfast sandwich for me, and my daughter, but we decided to go to another eatery (see other review) so I just got a breakfast sandwich for my grandson to eat on the way out of town. Breakfast options are limited but coffee is endless!! I got their oat milk latte and maybe it was because I was sipping on instant coffee for the past two days or it was just THAT good, I loved my drink. Well balance of creaminess and bold espresso flavor. They have some fun latte flavor options too. Their breakfast includes baked goods, breakfast sandwiches and burritos. They have a vegetarian and meat burrito option. They go fast so get there before 11am if you want a warm sandwich/burrito. Their meat burrito hit the spot but was greasy. I visit the various Joe's locations around town. I like this one just fine. There is comfy seating, as well as some larger tables for spreading out with work. The location is convenient to downtown restaurants and shopping, as well as northbound traffic on Camino. I have some nitpicks about Joe's but the coffee is pretty good - on the darker, strongly-brewed end. I think their roasts are particularly suited to milky drinks like lattes and cappuccinos, but I'm not really a fan of straight espresso, which seems a little burnt to me. They usually have multiple options for drip coffee. Today, we are having a light roast from El Salvador and enjoying it. I've found this place to be on the expensive end of local coffee, which brings me to my other gripe: the frequent buyer program, Mug Club is needlessly complex. I think it more than pays for itself if you take advantage of it, but it is more complicated than it needs to be. Joe's also does some pretty good cold drinks, for those hot days, and has pastries and sandwiches to just grab and go for a quick bite. I like the ham and cheese croissant. All in all, I can recommend this joint but it isn't my absolute favorite. Happy travels! Seatbelts! read more

Just stopped in for coffee and breakfast for our family on the way out of town. Best staff award! Jack, Lydia, Alix and Megan were awesome! Helped me figure out what to order for my kiddos-- cutest hot chocolate ever. Yummy food and coffee (I had the Honey Bear, yum!). Major points for the extra bonus if you spend over $30! Update: a lot of the reviews mentioned them not having changing tables. They do now! And very clean bathrooms! read more

Absolutely delicious! The breakfast burrito was incredible. Perfect mix of eggs, potatoes, cheese, bacon and sausage! All wrapped up together with the perfect addition of green chilis! We also got a breakfast sandwich that had a nice thick cut of ham! And the blueberry danish was fresh, flaky and fruity! Staff was super friendly and we were in and out quickly and efficiently. Great sandwiches. Prices fair. Very good coffee selection as well. My daughter had an iced green tea frappe kind of thing. I have never tried one before but I took a sip and it was surprisingly wonderful. So that was kind of a new branch out thing for me and was a very pleasant surprise. As I shared in a check-in, the last few times I've stopped in at the Camino/Plaza location it's been an unfriendly vibe. The same unfriendly informed us she had to charge us extra for a a squeeze of honey in our lattes- lame. College location is always friendly and welcoming, lesson learned. Red needs customer service training. read more

Great place to catch up with a friend over a relaxing cup of coffee and a pastry. As a new mom, I wish they had a changing station in at least one of the bathrooms. I had to change my lil guy on the floor. (Good thing it's summer and the bathroom was very clean plus I had a little mat with me). I mentioned this to the Asst Mgr, Crystal, and she said she doesn't think any of their locations have a changing station so she suggested I write a review bc Joe, the founder, reads them all. Would be nice if they had more soft seating to relax, too. There's a handful of softer chairs which were being used by students working on their laptops. I love their gift card deal (free drink with a new card purchase or $30 top off). Now you can register your card online and use it without having it with you (which is why I had to get a new one this time bc I left my old one at home). Overall, I like the different Joe's locations and plan to get out more to use my new Joe's card. Their sandwiches looked great, it's nice to see that Durango Joe's tries to keep things fresh with menu choices. read more

My husband and I got coffee here one morning and they have a wide selection of drinks! I got a mudslide and my husband a 911; mine was a mocha with Carmel and hazel nut flavorings. The drinks aren't super sweet so depending on your pallet that can be good or bad. I tend to like sweeter drinks but I threw a sugar packet in and it worked. We also got an Oreo chocolate chip cookie that was amazing! read more

Great coffee and great, friendly service. I've loved supporting local businesses and seeing this coffee shop grow has been very encouraging. My husband gets the cold brew and I get the honey bear, both are delicious and you can tell it's a fresh and crisp roast. The only thing I'd adjust is the Honey bear is a little too sweet however still delicious. Definitely a recommended coffee spot to stop at in Durango. read more

When we travel, we like to shop local, so we came here. Didn't get coffee, but their London Fog was sooo good, and the sandwiches we got were freshly made and so tasty. Also the store is clean and spacious, the bathrooms clean and the staff super friendly. read more

I stopped in for some local coffee and was not disappointed. I'm used to going to Starbucks or our local coffee shops and I usually like more flavor and sweetness because I worry about the bitterness coffee can have. I got the Mudslide (not an alcoholic drink) and it was fantastic! It had chocolate, caramel and hazelnut and was the perfect blend. Then I went back later to grab some more coffee beans, they have a pretty good selection so I got the Anniversary Blend and the espresso. But also grabbed a sandwich because they looked so good, turkey, bacon, pepper jack and Chipotle mayo, for the trip home. It was so good, I wish I had bought a second one. The staff was very friendly, they have multiple locations in Durango. I would definitely recommend that you try them. I can't wait to go back. read more

The 16-oz, 2 shots Latte here is nothing special, won't make me return. However the green chile cheese croissant definitely will. I regret not getting a dozen home with me, seriously! Next time I'm in town, I'll grab my Lattes at 81301 coffee shop, get two of the savory good eats here, find a parking spot on Main avenue and enjoy them while people watch. read more

I only rate this place 4 stars because DJ's just recently did away with their reloadable cards in favor of using your phone number for the program. I already get enough advertisers overwhelming me and don't need someone else sending me texts. I made the mistake of giving out my phone number once and won't make that mistake again. What once was a great way to pay for you coffee has been abandoned in an effort to harvest your phone number. If you're going to use the program make sure you use a fake number. Sorry DJ's, i'm going back to Durango Coffee Company from now on. read more

On a quick visit to Durango, I found I was in dire need of a caffeinated beverage first thing in the morning. Despite only one review I rolled the dice and came up a winner! The decor and employees were welcoming. Though I ordered my cup o' to go, I imagine this would be a good place to sit for a while. Free Wi-Fi doesn't hurt, that's for sure. My Mountain Mudslide 16 oz coffee was great. A moderately sweet mocha with caramel and hazelnut paired well with my choice of Almond Milk as a dairy alternative. This was one of the best coffees I have ever tasted. I wish I had more to add, but I've only sampled one of their menu items and it was to-go. Still, I think this place is a keeper. read more

I was harsh on them in an earlier review for what were substandard baked goods. I have recently had their breakfast burritos a couple of times and they are much improved. Used to be too much potato, now mostly egg and protein. I have not retried any of the baked goods. read more

Great coffee (the americano was perfect) and lots of space to spread out and hang out or work. Service was very slow- I think something weird was going on with their staffing because when we arrived only one person was there and it took twenty minutes to get our drinks. But we stayed for ninety minutes and it seemed like once a second person showed up they flew to get caught up and the problem was solved for the people coming after us. We were visiting from out of town but if I was a local this would be one of my regular places. read more

Honestly I don't understand all the hype over Durango Joes. It's not terrible coffee but it's certainly nothing special. Whenever I just get their brewed coffee it always taste a little burnt to me. Also the last few lattes I've ordered have been given to me luke-warm, when I order a latte I like it to be handed over hot. Additionally at my most recent visit I ordered one of their breakfast sandwiches and I cannot believe how much I paid for a dry cold sandwich with kraft cheese slapped on there, it was the equivalent of a dollar menu item from McDonalds. read more

This place used to be my go to. I got breakfast here literally every day. I used to LOVE the green chili sausage bagel. Unfortunately, they ended up replacing it with a English muffin sandwich that is absolutely unbearable and impossible to eat. It's absolutely dry, no flavor and the ham and cheese combo is a no. I then found a liking to those Ham cheese croissants. They were perfect. These ended up changing slightly during the Pandemic (less and different ham) but I still really enjoyed them. Now they changed them again and they are GROSS! Cheddar and a tiny bit of ham on the inside and topped with parmesan!? it's so gross! These cheeses do not go together. And then to charge almost $5 for this? Sorry Durango Joes but I deleted the app and will not be returning to ANY location. Idk if it was a cost thing or what, but this place is going downhill fast. Save your money and don't even try the food. Yuck! read more

This is a great little coffee shop that's easy to get to with good parking. The staff is always super friendly, and the coffee is good. It can get a little noisy when busy, but that's pretty much every coffee shop. I always get a pastry when I go, and they are always pretty good. Stop in for sure. read more

It said legendary coffee and tea the only thing legendary was that it was the biggest letdown I'm sure that they do not make anything fresh except for some of their coffee all the tea is made A day or two earlier then sit in pitchers for hours it would be better if they made this stuff fresh like the sandwiches and salads It is like eating leftovers from a week ago I'm pretty sure that Starbucks , McDonald's or the local gas station has all of the same stuff but way over priced leftovers that is what they should name this place read more

Love all Durango Joe's but this one is close to work making it easy to pop in for a latte. Great remodel on the interior making it a nice spot to meet friends or check email on the free wifi connection. Good sandwiches and salads for an on the go lunch too! I just got back from Italy, and Durango Joe's coffee is just as good as anything I had there! read more

Durango Joe's Coffee was established in 2004 by Joe Lloyd and his wife LeAnna with a dream of opening a chain of coffee shops. Ultimately the success of Durango Joe's rests in our ability to go above and beyond to please each customer who either walks in or drives thru. It is our belief that ALL people are important. Meet the Business Owner: Joe L.

Durango Joe's Coffee was established in 2004 by Joe Lloyd and his wife LeAnna with a dream of opening a chain of coffee shops. Our local founders have a legendary family history in Durango as rich and memorable as the coffee we serve! Joe's Grandfather, Durango's own Doctor Leo Lloyd served the Durango community for over 40 years in family medicine, beloved for his day and night dedication to home bedside care, he set the family's "community first" mission in the early 1900s. Joe's brother, Leo Lloyd III is known throughout the Four Corners as the "go to" guy for dangerous search and rescue missions and serves as a Captain for the Durango Fire Department. It is known said through-out the area "Avoid the Lloyd" in an effort to express "Don't get yourself in such a bind that Leo Lloyd is going to have to rescue you!" I can't believe that I'm in a…read moresmall Colorado town, where often, mediocre food is the rule, and burgers are typically the only item most restaurants are capable of mustering. This sandwich is truly epic. The wheat bread is from a local bakery. Instead of it being toasted in a perfunctory, afterthought manner, it is thoroughly toasted right at the point of the wheat kernels cracking, engendering the goodness only wheat can provide. The bacon is properly cooked, with no hint of undercooked slime present. The green chili tastes as though it was brought here this morning from Hatch, with the whole of the ingredients being uniquely fresh. Finally, the sriracha mayo sauce provides just the right presence of spice, uniquely accenting the green chili. Turkey itself is great, but I confess, is so overshadowed by the excellence present throughout the sandwich, that it hardly occupies the center stage. On another note, a definite problem here is that the water glass conveying a distinct taste of soap residue. It's bad. This happened the last time that I was here, as well. I did tell the owner about this today. Pricing is just right and seating can be awkward at times. I look forward to returning.

We started with the Bavarian pretzel, which was served with beer cheese and mustard. It was delicious and fresh! I then had the southwestern burger, which is always a favorite of mine because of the green chilis. The burgers are always cooked nicely (I order medium) and I was able to substitute a side salad, which was easily one of the best side salads I've ever had at a brewery. We are doing dry January, so no beers this time, but had a lovely hop water that they brew there and even left with a growler full. The location was perfect for us because we were able to easily walk there from our hotel. We were lucky enough to get outdoor seating, which made the experience even better. It was great to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful Durango weather, and people watch while having dinner. We decided to do a beer flight so we could sample a variety of their beers before committing to a full pint. It was a great way to try different styles, and we each ended up finding a favorite. Everything we tried was really good. My husband liked their Buffalo wings and whiskey burger, I enjoyed the seared tuna bowl, and our kids liked their pizza. It is definitely a busy and popular spot, especially during peak vacation times, so I would recommend putting your name in early and expecting there could be a wait. In our opinion it was worth it. Steamworks had a great casual vibe that worked well for both families and adults wanting to enjoy a brewery experience. The downtown location adds to the charm, and it definitely felt like one of those must visit spots while in Durango.
