I looked at purchasing a used Suburban. The salesman could not/would not tell me about any mechanical issues, although he did let me take it home to my mechanic. It turns out the vehicle needed a new transmission. I gave him the vehicle report and never heard back. On the plus side, he was nice enough. The young manager was dismissive, and offered 1/4 for my trade in than what it is worth. He said that was because of high miles, even though I was looking at a vehicle with only 10,000 more miles. Overall, I try to avoid getting my 2 Toyotas and Ford worked on at Durango Motor Company. The first time I had a new FOB ordered and when I took into to get it programed, it took them an hour, and after they drained the battery, to figure out that the FOB was bad. Took 2 hours to get 1 FOB programmed. The second time I brought my Ford in for warranty work on my new transmission after it started to leak. They said they did the work, but it continued to leak. I ended up having to drive it 7 hours to a different Toyota Dealer in Denver to get it fixed... turns out that the paint on the bolts wasn't even cracked, meaning they never did the work in the first place. The 3rd time involved getting a simple oil change done with a scheduled appointment time for my 2017 Toyota 4Runner... they let it sit outside the checkin bay for 45 minutes before I took the key back and left. My advice, if you like your car, go somewhere else... either to a good shop in town or a dealer out of town. read more

My wife and I bought a Toyota Certified 2016 Tacoma from Durango Motor Company on 8/13/18 and I have nothing but good things to say about this dealership. First off, we got an amazing deal on this used truck. We had the pleasure of doing business with Travis Dorzok (internet sales) . He made our buying experience hassle free and super easy. He was very responsive and forthright to my emails and questions. I had to travel 400+ miles to pick up the truck. They overnighted the paperwork we needed to fill out and I was able to take it on the plane to the dealership. When I arrived at the airport, Travis picked me up in my soon to be new truck. We drove to the dealership and I was ready to hit the road home in less than 30 minutes. I had a wonderful experience at Durango Motor Company and would seriously consider doing business here again. Update: I'm having to jump through hoops in order to get my truck registered in NM. First I was told that that the title clerk at Durango forgot to send "power of attorney" paperwork only after sitting in the DMV for over an hour. Come to find out they did send it, but forgot to sign it. So now I have to go back into the DMV and have them send it back to Durango..... WARNING!! Make (double) sure Durango has their "ducks in a row" when it comes to the paperwork. read more

5 hours and 7 minutes of waiting, with a kid I might add, to get 6 new tires put in my dually and I had an appointment - it's not like I was a walk in or something. They made a couple of excuses - wheels were seized on, they couldn't put my 1 ton truck on a lift so they had to use a jack on each wheel etc. That adds 10 minutes tops... The job should have taken two hours but it took five. They told me three times over a two hour period that it would only be another 25 minutes. Even the employees thought it was ridiculous. I don't know what they were doing but they weren't working on my tires so they're either incompetent or lying. You decide. I'll give every other tire shop in the surrounding area a try before I go back to Durango Motor Company. read more

I brought my 2019 Toyota RAV4 in for a known problem with a roof leak at the roof rack mount, which I explained to Durango Motor Company upon drop-off. This problem with RAV4s has been well documented so the technicians should be well aware of the issue and were only asked to provide pricing for repair. I was told that they could repair the issue by replacing the entire roof rack system for $2,300 or they could seal/gasket the holes for $900. I said no thank you and they handed me a bill for $142 for unneeded diagnostics and doing absolutely nothing to address the roof leak issue. Thanks Durango Motor Company. read more

9/6/19 EDIT: 9 months after bringing up the car issues, the car has finally been repaired. However, I will not be changing my star review. The way we were treated by DMC for 9 months was incredibly unprofessional. Within 12 hours of posting my original review, we were contacted by DMC to take this review down or change it. It's almost humorous how quickly DMC responded to a negative review, before even beginning to work on the car, when we were ignored for 9 months, causing the car to go into transmission failure. I co-signed a car last November and have had nothing but issues since. The car began to show issues shortly after purchasing, and despite the multiple attempts to communicate with DMC , we were ignored. When we were spoken to, we were told it was "fine" and to "not worry". When we brought up the fact that the model was under a recall list, we were told we didn't qualify and again not to worry. When the car began to display clear transmission failure, which was what the recall was about, we were told again "not to worry". Now the car is in 100% transmission failure and is undrivable. We were forced to rent are car out of pocket for a day before DMC supplied us with a rental. We also have had to take time off work to fix this issue, and a trip out of state was cancelled due to this failure. We are out over $200 for issues that are covered under our terms and service with DMC. Immediately after posting this review, I will be contacting the Better Business Burea to report this unprofessional behavior and how they handled our situation, resulting in unnecessary distress and fees read more

Had the compressor replaced and them the hvac sensor "went Bad" They will not stand behind their work or the inspection when I bought the vehicle. Took a month to get in to look at and was told it would be $1,000 to fix. Repair associate was completely disengaged and seemed completely disinterested that I had continued issues from a vehicle purchased from them. I went today with my girlfriend to Durango Motor Company. She went there to buy a used Kia Soul. I must say, I was very impressed with the entire experience. It was easy, comfortable, and there were no high-pressure sales tactics. I should say that I've spent a lot of time in car dealerships selling car insurance to new car owners. I've seen all the tricks, and many resemble murder interrogations. This was nothing like that very typical car-buying experience. The price was the price. There was no haggling, and they didn't ask what they could do to earn her business today. In fact, they pretty much had her business before she even walked in the door. They pre-approved her for the loan, and they estimated what her trade-in vehicle was worth, answered all her questions, and followed up without being pushy. When she walked in the door, it was mostly just going through the formality of the test drive, the final appraisal of the trade-in, and the paperwork. It was easy and painless, and we were out of there in about an hour and a half. I had no idea buying a car could be such a pleasant process. They "forgot" to collect city tax from us, it was $800 to get tags for our van, it should have been in damn financing! The worse part is that I had to call then 3 times and was always told I would get a call back, when I did after the third attempt I was left a voicemail stating there is nothing they can do! I know a lot of people in the area and some other salespeople around and trust me I spread the word that they are not worth going to. So the GM called us and apologized for the mistake, they sent us a check to pay for the taxes that we had to pay out of pocket. Thank you for correcting the mistake and resolving the issue. My experience started out great working with Sales Agent Tim Schrag. Great guy to work with and he was very helpful to help me find an AWD SUV. I looked at lots of options to find what I really wanted and found it in a used 2016 Toyota Highlander. I'm not crazy about the "there is no negotiating because this is our lowest price", because we all know that's not true, but finding a good used Highlander that's a newer model is difficult because there aren't many in the area. I didn't want to take my business to the Denver area and nothing was found in Farmington. The process was smooth sailing at that point and nothing but positive for me, and reason for a star at all, was because of Tim. Once we determined the Highlander was going to be the one we went with I told Tim I was using my own bank; excellent APR and he said that was not a problem at all. All the dealership had to do was fill out a form, fax it to my bank, and they'd have the money wired in 24 hours. Finance Manager Adriana Shepherd brought all of that to a screeching hault. She dragged out the process and said my bank didn't have the right paperwork, which was a lie. She used every method in the book of nightmare car buying experience tactics possible. She tried to tell me they could get me an APR in the 2-3% range, without knowing my credit score or anything other than my bank APR and how much vehicle I could afford (a good 10k more than I was spending or wanted to spend). She tried poking around to get me into a lease, no thank you. She tried telling me they'd hold the keys until the money was wired, but still sell me the car, no thank you. I explained I wasn't buying a car unless I got to leave it. Then, of course, after an hour of the back and forth where she'd go talk to some manager and then lie to my face, she said she needed a certain document....which she was already holding in her hand and had all along. I was fed up! At that point General Sales Manager Nate Monroe came over and tried to throw Adriana under the bus saying she was new and she didn't know what she was doing. I could tell she was NOT new and knew exactly what she was doing to try and make more money (i.e. use their financing). He said she should have never offered a lease when I clearly wanted to buy. I was not thrilled that a manager above her was also being dirty about this process. I had no trust in the dealership. All the while our sales agent was very nice and tried to smooth things over. Then Nate said all we had to do was sign the document Adriana had hsd in her possession since 5 minutes into the paperwork process and we'd basically almost be done and could leave with the vehicle! I was FURIOUS. My husband was FURIOUS. I told Nate that the games their dealership played were disgusting and you don't treat people like that and we left. Of course we would have been long gone by then, like Adriana implied, if we'd just use their financing. Fast forward to later that evening General Manager Tom Ondrako called me to ask what happened. I told him the whole story and he hoped I'd still buy the car and go through him entirely for the process. I kindly declined. He said he would hold a meeting the next day to address what happened because that should have never happened, according to their "dealership values" and I agreed, but unfortunately it did. I have since bought a used 2018 Highlander from True Auto Deals/New Country here in Durango and couldn't be happier with the amazing level of customer service! PLEASE READ..If you are thinking of taking you vehicle to get fixed at Durango Motor Company you need to know this fact. The service department is paid on commission, yes you read that right. So you need to question every single charge as they tried to RIP ME OFF in the worst way. If you talk with Josh or Mike you will be ripped off. I took my truck in for a o2 sensor, Josh told me I should replace BOTH of my o2 sensors because the computer cant tell which one is not working so I said to Josh why would I need to replace a perfectly good working part? Josh told me the computer can not tell which one is bad so you replace them both and that is complete total LIES. He said that because he's paid on commission thats why. The total price he gave me was over 1100 dollars to fix the issue. So I went on Rock Auto and the Toyota o2 sensor is 149 delivered, Josh wanted to charge me 340 for the o2 sensor so that is over a 100% mark up and looks good for Josh's commission check. Then Josh told me it would be 2 hours of labor. So I googled "how long to change a o2 sensor on a 2012 Tundra, Toyota said its take all of 10 min to change the o2 sensor and 10 min to program the computer and I should be charged 1/2 a hour of labor..That would of been fair the right thing to do, but since Josh gets paid on commission he wanted 340 for each o2 sensor so over 700 dollars and 2 hours of labor yes 2 hours. Why ? Because the more he can rip you off the more he can make. I said I cant believe what you are trying to charge me and Josh then said if you dont like it come pick up your truck ..so I did..I ordered the part for 149 and changed it myself its a plug and one screw and it really take less than 10 min and I saved myself over 1000 dollar that Durango Motor wanted to rip me off for..So if you want to take your vehicle to DMC after reading this one, thats not very smart but if you do ask if they are paid on commission and know the parts will be marked up well over 100% and you will get RIP OFF just like they tried to do to me and I cant imagine how many clients they have done the same thing to..Good Luck and if you ask for Mike the manager he will laugh at you and will do nothing. read more

This complaint applies to the Value Auto Division of the company. I was interested in buying a 2004 Toyota Avalon from Durango Value Auto. However, when I got it inspected by my mechanic there were several major issues with the car that were not mentioned. To list the major three: the car was in a front end collision, the catalytic converter was damaged (mechanic said it looked like someone tried to steal it), the right inner tie rod is worn and needs replacement which is a safety issue(you could lose steering). There were several other issues too. I tried to negotiate with Cadence and his manager but they wouldn't negotiate the price.The Manager de-emphasize these issues stating "the car is still in good condition for a 20 year old car" and "the mechanic is likely looking for way to make money". I especially didn't appreciate the manager's comments, so I calmly told them thank you for your time but I cannot by the car for the price considering the condition of some of the components. I do not believe they followed their values listed on their website such as " The Value of Honesty and Integrity" as they said it was inspected by their mechanics and they did not see anything wrong with the car. For starters while I was in the dealership waiting I saw firsthand how sales staff led by manager, India D, literally laugh at and fleece customers who purchase from them. Complete disrespect was shown while talking about two separate customers who had purchased vehicles from them earlier that day. Based on India's comments I think she guided them to a successful bait and switch strategy in a very dishonest manner. This manager should not be leading any staff much less have any position of trust in a business. Terrible! On the repair/service side be sure and take all of you personal possessions out of the car before turning it over to them or things will go "missing". My advice is to both buy a vehicle elsewhere and have it serviced elsewhere. read more

Called on a truck at noon, Sent me a virtual show of the truck in question. I was told it was available, I made an appointment to see the truck was told if there were any changes to the status I would be promptly informed. Got off a little late but still showed. Thinking all was well. Went and looked at the truck decided I wanted it. Put a hold on it, came home put my truck for sale online had a offer on my truck within an hour. Made arrangements for the seller to meet me after work on Saturday to pick it up. Got a very short call on Saturday from the dealership with no explanation telling me the truck sold and my hold money would be refunded. Not understanding I called the gentleman that I had made arrangements with to purchase my truck to explain what had happened. Not being able to get ahold of him due to him driving through the mountains on a 5 hour drive, and not being able to contact him until I got off work he was very disappointed to find out what I had to tell him. To ease his pain I gave him a $100 bill to pay for fuel. Then had to go to the dealership and ask for my hold money because it had not been refunded. I just feel this is bad business. Let me start by saying, the sales people are nice and knowledgeable but that's where it stops. We have lived in Durango since 1979 and we have always tried to keep our business local but unfortunately we do not wish to spend thousands of dollars more just to say we purchased here in Durango. That being said, Durango Motors say they have a "no hassle" price but sadly, their price was $2,911 more for almost the identical car that we found online at Mountain States Toyota! I had no idea we were paying so much for the same car until the manager came in and offered $4,400 below my trade in value. This raised suspicion, so after consulting other dealers we realized Durango Motors was way overpriced and found a true "no hassle" dealer. I'm sorry DMC but I'm not willing to give up $7,311 to keep my business local, I'll make the trip to Denver! As far as their online service I have one word, awful. Of the 3 cars we were interested in, 1 had been sold 6 months earlier (according to the sales person) and the other 2 had been sold the day before. Hmm, suspect at best. By the way, you may be thinking we were looking for a very expensive car but we weren't. We purchased a Rav4 limited. While traveling through the area, I needed to take my Prius in for an oil change. The service advisors were all friendly. The price was outstanding (Compared to where I live)! Was a little disappointed they forgot to wash the car after they had finished (I had requested it when I made the appointment), but they then took care of washing the car, but not drying it--oh well. Had to come back the next day with a Bluetooth issue, and was very impressed the guy spent half an hour helping me figure it out! Thank you! read more
