I don't generally have tacos. Durango Taco Shop happened to appear when I was looking on my phone for something else. Reading the reviews, I decided this was where I'd go for dinner. Very accessible in a small strip mall, I parked and went in to order take out. I have never had birria tacos so this would be a first for me. I ordered their 3 taco queso birria to go. In a short time, my take out was ready. I was concerned that my drive home, only 4 miles, would cause the tacos to lose some of their crispiness. No need to worry. When I opened the package at home, the shells were very hot. I even had to wait a bit to eat this good food. With the tacos was a small container of consommé. I dipped the first one in the consommé and bit a piece off. Absolute heavenly flavor. I took my time eating the three tacos which is quite enough for dinner. The left over consommé made a good few sips when I was done with the tacos themselves. I am so glad I found this shop. I'll be back. I also saw there were some seats along the north wall and in the hallway. I won't need to get takeout. read more

I saw this new taco spot opened up near my home so I finally stopped by for a late lunch. I was greeted by the friendly girl w/pretty flowers in her hair & a big smile. The wall art interior decor is bright & beautiful w/Mexican heritage tributes. It was Taco Tuesday -$2.50 street tacos so I bought one of each-chicken, pork & carne asada. They were all still hot even after driving @7 min home. The double tacos soft corn shells were a bit soft & kind of fell apart but probably bc I took it to go and didnt eat it right there. Overall all the flavors were good, the chicken was so juicy it was definitely my favorite. The pork taco was stuffed and very hearty. They cane w a red spicy salsa & a light green sauce. Carnitas Tacos were pretty good. Service was friendly. Unfortunately they didn't have the fish I wanted but I'll try again on Sunday since it's their special. I've ordered from Durango Taco shop a number of times. They are pretty solid. My last order was about a month ago and I ordered 3 Al Pastor Tacos and 5 Quesabirra tacos. Starting with the Birria, it was a nice consume. I love Quesabirria and sometimes you get it and it's too salty or not salty enough but they did it right. For the Quesabirria tacos places also have a pitfall of where they're so greasy (and you need to expect grease) you can eat then but the tacos were crunchy and paired well with the sauce. They also provided a good amount of Cilantro which I love a lot. Everything was prepared how I specified it. The street al pastor tacos were also pretty much on point. Now I will be honest, I've had better (and I've had a lot worse) for all of these items but for the price and for the convenience I would absolutely recommend this place if you want solid Mexican food and can't decide. read more

Why would anyone choose Roberto's when a place like this exists? Great esquites, good chile relleno. I got a burrito with grilled chicken that was actually MASSIVE, and was so tasty I made myself ill finishing it all. The red salsa also had a great flavor and spice level. But we were kind of disappointed. I got pastor and lengua tacos, my husband got a carne asada burrito and taco dorados. The pastor was kind of stringy, felt like it was kind of braised. The lengua was the better option. I did like their creamy cilantro green salsa, it adds a nice creaminess to the taco, the other salsa were meh. I went to the location on S. Durango near West Twain, it's within walking distance of my home, and across from Desert Breeze Park. Good food and reasonably priced. I ordered three rolled chicken taquitos and one beef taco. They served me three rolled chicken taquitos and one rolled beef taquito. It was all tasty, and the complimentary salsas are delicious. I got the potato taco (hard- this one was slightly bigger than the street taco size) and the chicken soft taco (street taco size) - both were so good, and the chips were yummy too. The flavor was delicious. Yes, the street size tacos are small, but it's filled with meat. The potato taco was the bomb. (I get them from other places too. Potato tacos are in my regular rotation.) Hubby had the birria taco (very good according to Hubby) and a chicken taco. The boy had a carnitas taco and a chicken taco (his fave meat is chicken). Everyone liked their tacos. Wishing I'd ordered two beef tacos, I started on what I thought might be dry, shredded white meat chicken. Nope! The chicken taco was every bit as outstanding as the beef taco: totally flavorful and moist. These chefs know how to season both chicken and beef. A complete pleasure. We love this place! We use to always go to Roberto's for something fast and easy but still tasty but we discovered this place and we love it here.
