I've had a couple pistols in storage for a long time and when I got them back, the movers had lost the keys to the locks :-/ I called Dury's and explained I had a couple locked guns - one with a barrel lock so even bolt cutters wouldn't take it off and they were like "just bring them in and we'll get it taken care of for you". So I went in the next day and, in less than 15 minutes they were all done and back with me ready to shoot. I think it was about $10 per lock, which is a great deal, and the staff was super polite and friendly. They take care to make sure everyone is safe as well with guns being checked as soon as you arrive (they're then banded with zip ties to make sure they're cleared) and the staff all wear masks and customers are required to as well. All in all, I don't know of anything more I could ask for in this case. Fast and polite customer service and they did exactly what I needed to get everything fixed. I'll definitely be back. (Spoiler alert though - they're almost out of all kinds of ammo for some reason; I think everywhere is lately) read more

I placed my AR-15 on consignment as I am an Active Duty Soldier set to be stationed in Germany where...simply put even the police don't have guns mostly. Kelly was thorough and he suggested a price that would be sure to sell the weapon. I hope it finds a good home with another Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine that helps them to shoot expert and progress in rank structure like the AR-15 helped me to do. This shop has, without a doubt, the stupidest hours I've ever heard of. They close on Saturday at 1:00 PM and don't open until Tuesday at 9:30 am. I talked to an employee in the parking lot who was leaving work and asked him why in God's name they shut down for the entire weekend, the time when most people would be willing to spend discretionary money. He said, "It's industry standard hours." Very clean facility and friendly staff, went there for gunsmith services and had zero complaints

Can only speak on the customer service here, BUT... That is enough to prompt a review. I recently "celebrated" 35 years of service with my employer and with that comes, (as the "old man" in A Christmas Story would say), a major award, lol. I had been in the market for a new firearm and the one I really wanted was unfortunately, not one that was offered on the company website. So I bit the proverbial bullet, (pun intended), and selected a model that was, needless to say, not my first choice. After speaking on the telephone multiple times with "Becky" from Dury guns, she was able to find, (drumroll please), the EXACT same piece I was originally shopping for, because the one I HAD chosen, (i.e., not my first choice), was no longer available. SWEETNESS!!! She worked long and hard to ensure that I was satisfied, as well as interact with my local FFL, (review to follow upon receipt???), to ensure that I was one satisfied customer. I have to say, I'm going to make a special trip to Dury next time I'm in S/A, just to thank her personally!!! Mad props to Dury in general and more specifically to Becky. I have purchased many auction guns from Durys over the years. Over 20 I'm sure. They were not expensive guns, sub $200 but I like to work on the junkers and fix them up. This last auction I won was for a $150 12 gauge. Unfortunately as luck would have it I was stuck out of town for work and would be delayed in picking it up. I emailed Jerry Grothues several times, trying to make sure it would not be a problem with me picking it up late. If it had been a problem, I would have totally understood and forfeited on the auction so they could post it again. Or paid by phone or thru gunbroker but Jerry asked for nothing just assured me that he would be ready for me on our agreed upon date of 07/05/24. So the morning of 07/05/24 I made the 2 hour trip to Durys on Hotwells. The ladies at the front desk were very nice as always, the gentleman that assisted me was also very nice, he took my information and said he'd be back. After some time a young man named Kenneth came to me and began to explain that the gun was no longer available to me because the 2 week deadline for payment had passed. I tried to show him my email correspondence with Jerry, and his response to that was that it was my fault for not paying, I should have read all the statements in the auction and it is not Jerry's responsibility to keep track of such things, in fact when he's responding to emails he doesn't even look at the orders in question. I was stunned, don't you'd think it would be a good idea for him to look at orders that he is relaying information on? No apologies for the bad infomation, no offer to work something out, just complete denial of responsibility and all the blame placed on me. Jerry could have easily told me in our last email that it was too late and saved me a 4 hour road trip. And to add insult to injury, Durys still reported me to Gunbroker for nonpayment and my gunbroker account was blocked. After dozens of great and fun purchases this one experience takes me back to zero. Kenneths inability to see my side of the story and just simply show some sympathy and understanding leaves me very dissalusioned with this shop. And at least for a while...maybe longer, I'll be looking to spend my money elsewhere. For a company that usually provides first class customer service, this wasn't just a slip up for me but a major fail. read more

Showed a carelessness with my firearm. Went in for a sight installation for a Glock (an easy process, yes, but I didn't want to deal with it). Got it back a few minutes later with the slide caked in some solid, oil adjacent material, which wiped off black. They also marred and scratched the rear sight that was being installed. Expected more. $50 is already pretty steep for what we all know is an easy and short installation, and it apparently doesn't include even returning the firearm in its previous condition. Sharp contrast to my go to gunshop, unfortunately not in San Antonio (Burdett & Son), which cleaned the gun for a similar sight modification as a courtesy. Staff was very friendly though. If this was a service based review it'd be five stars. read more

I was pleasantly surprised and honored when he offered to give me a tour, especially his very impressive operation behind the retail portion of the shop, i.e., gunsmiths, shipping receiving, etc.. But more remarkable, he gave me a thorough and detailed explanation of how his family began the business over 60 years ago starting with his great grandfather who came from France. Johnny also took the time to personally introduce me to his very friendly and knowledgable staff, especially his wonderful Mother, Betty. I came to purchase a pistol close to the end of business. I needed to update my address and the staff eager to close shop, rushed me out taking my deposite without explaining any terms or conditions. Just rushing me out the door. I ended purchasing elsewhere, came back for my money and they are charging almost half as a surrender for not buying their gun. I would have never left a deposit had they mentioned these terms. This was underhanded and why retail is dying. Shame on your Dury!. Your practices are disingenuous and your service and selfishness will close your doors soon enough. read more

First let me say that the shop is well staffed, beautifully displayed, well stocked and conveniently located. The staff will greet you promptly and all the folks there are quite knowledgeable. So why only two stars? I took two rifles in for repairs. The first was a Remington 740 Woodsmaster 30-06 that had a weak extractor and I'd end up with a spent shell in the barrel and a live round stuck in the breach. The second rifle was a Saginaw M1M2A Carbine with a broken/ missing extractor and a rotary bolt that would become dislodged from the slide after firing a few rounds. I was told that repairs may take up to ten days and that both guns may not be repairable due to the age of them. If not repairable I would have to pay a $20.00 fee for tear down and inspection. I agreed to this. I don't expect a free estimate, time is money and I understand this. Eight days later I received a call that the rifles were ready. While I was a bit upset that I never received a call to let me know how much repairs would cost, I made the seventy mile drive to pick them up. As soon as I got home I put a four round clip in the Woodsmaster and cycled the bolt. It has never extracted a spent shell as nicely as it does now but the fresh round gets stuck in the breach every other cycle. I put a 30 round clip in the Carbine and cycled the bolt a few times. Perfect extraction every time but the bolt still comes out of the slide. When I removed the barrel and trigger assembly from the stock, I found the roll pin holding the trigger to the breach to be missing. Did these Morons forget to put it back? For the price of only $212.76 I now have two rifles that were useless when I took them in and are now slightly less useless. I may buy ammo, targets, slings or other shooting supplies here again but I will never let these IDIOTS try to fix a gun again. This is pure and simple Texas Incompetence. read more

I just got off the phone with Dury's regarding the transfer of a C3 item and they managed to earn themselves another star! Chad Stahl is the man to talk to regarding CLASS 3 stuff there...I called the shop and spoke to a gal who took down my email addie to pass along to Chad who was at lunch (Chad is the resident C3 guru there apparently). He sent me an email within half hour of my call to Dury's and was quick to reply each time in our email exchange. I was especially pleased to find that he actually knew what he was talking about and he knew what I was talking about...making the entire process that much easier. FYI...if you are smart enough to fill out your own forms correctly (shocking how many people aren't), it's considerably cheaper than having them take care of the paperwork for you. Saved myself 50 bucks by not being retarded. These folks are good people....I hate the fact that they are clear cross town from mi casa...but they earned my business. read more

April 11, 2015 UPDATE Visited Dury's again to pick up a firearm, which I purchased online. I used their FFL transfer service and again received excellent customer service. I was tracking my UPS devlivery and noticed that a Dury's staff member called me within an hour of UPS delivery to their store. I drove down there to pick up my firearm delivery. You have to go through a brief process of completing a federal background check via computer while there. That process is painless, so I was out of there within an hour. The staff member who assisted me, as well as the girls behind the counter were all very cheerful, friendly and helpful. I appreciate the fact that Dury's provides this type of service, even when they're busy. Great job. Highly recommend this dealer for all your firearm, sport shooting and hunting needs. read more

The best selection of any gun shop in San Antonio. Chances are if you want it or want to look at it, they have it. The selection of firearms is vast and varies from new and used, .22 caliber to 50 BMG. Not just anything either, brands like Nighthawk, Wilson Combat, Savage , Mossberg and Beretta. The selection of optics is top notch, Leupold and Nightforce were mostly what I saw. It's the only place I've ever seen a Schmidt and Bender scope. Need Class 3 items? They have those too. Suppressors, and SBR's abound. On the down side some of their prices, mostly ammo, could be considered high. Then again they most likely have what you're looking for. Whether you need a hunting rifle or pistol for conceal carry, Dury's has it. read more

As a woman who is new to the sport, and slightly (okay, very!) intimidated by the process of choosing a gun and all the things that go with it, I could not recommend Dury's more highly. My husband has been hunting for upwards of 30 years, and even he learned new things while we were there! The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Every single person there was incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable!!! I can't underscore that enough. Johnny Dury himself (the owner) took an hour plus to show me how to hold my new shotgun properly, and adjusted shooting glasses based on my dominant eye. His help was invaluable, and the fact that he spent as much time as he did with a novice like me impressed me more than I can put into words. He also shared with us information about instructors in the area, and how I might increase my skill level by progressing from skeet to sporting clays. Certainly something I would never have known if not for his sharing. He and his staff were welcoming, and their help, attention, and willingness to help me learn certainly increased my confidence and excitement for this sport. And the fact that they have gunsmiths in the shop, and lifetime warranties on every gun they sell, new or used, speaks to the quality and integrity of their business. Went by today to sell or consign my mint Ruger SuperBlackhawk. Fired 6 rounds.Thats it. I have two other 44 mag in double action, which i prefer. Check the gun. The young guy takes it to the back and returns. He says 490.00. Thats 70% of what they will sell it for or around 700.00. I say that they have the same gun on their website for 1029.00 also used . He takes the revolver back again and returns with the manager. he says that 1029.00 gun is this one and says i can have it for 700.00. He just wants to get rid of it.. I say no thanks for 490.00 ill keep it. Manager is very rude as i have read in other reviews. by the way, what happened to all the terrible reviews for this place. They are accurate. i guess they dont like being caught in a lie. suddenly they had no interest in my consigning my Ruger. What if it sold for 1029.00? That would prove they try to cheat on the supposed 70% of selling price. I will just use my stash money and buy from Buds Gun Shop where i buy all my guns on-line. read more

I am a huge fan of their great service and knowledge of the products. I purchased a gun safe from Dury's a few weeks ago, but I couldn't get it to work. I took the safe back over and a Dury's associate, Michael described its operation and what the potential problem was. Less than 5 minutes later, the safe was fixed and I was on my way. Except I wasn't on the way, because I browsed through the store once again. In a previous visit, I asked about a certain product and Steve provided a complete history of the item, with an explanation of why the gun was designed and constructed in that manner. In other gun shops, you either get the guns they want to move shoved at you, or they ignore you all together when you don't look like money is flowing out of your pockets. I've never received the hard sell from Dury's, because they don't have to do so. It's not the CHEAPEST, but if you're looking for cheap, there are numerous places in town with crappy service and sub-standard products. Dury's supports law enforcement and the military. My wife gets a discount on certain products because she graduated the San Antonio civilian police academy. She purchased a Glock 26 through that program. Did I mention their lifetime guarantee on the used and new products they sell? I've been to bigger gun shops than Dury's but it's my favorite in the city. read more

-I ordered a lower and had it shipped to durys to pick up. This is my first build and this experience has dampened what should had be an exciting right of any American. -My first build, my husband could not make it, so my son went to help. It's my first build. This info is none of their business. Infringing on my constitutional rights. -Profiled by multiple employees: (sex, race, knowledge, dress wear) -"Greeter" was rude, interruptive, and short with lack of experience. Told to "wait" for salesman. Lack of customer service. -Seen/noticed by multiple salespeople without acknowledgment. I.e. greeting, smile, or even a head node. -Salesperson who "helped" asked my son how she could help him. Replied with "my mother needs to pick up an FFL transfer." Immediately became suspicious. Asked multiple time if transfer was for me. Again my first time building a firearm was excited/nervous. Instead of being informative and helpful, all I received was suspension of malice. None of the employees know my education, life experiences, or my life at home, regardless it is assumed by everyone that I am breaking the law because I am a firearms novice, or because I'm a women, or Hispanic, or because I show up in my pajamas. All of which is profiling, and discrimination. I did not commit a crime, but yet my transfer is being ran through the ringer. -I should not have to explain to you my level of expertise with firearms, why I want to buy a firearm, or my plans with said firearm. It is none your concern, how I live my life as an American citizen. If the federal background system does not have an issue with me owning a firearm, what makes you believe yourself or any other employee knows more about me or my intentions with very little true interaction? -Everyone I came into contact with had already judged and made assumptions about me, before I ever spoke. -I did not have time to wait on my background check so I asked the "salesperson" if they could call me once the background came back. She said yes, so I waited. Never got a phone call, so the next evening (over 24 hours) I called the store and asked what was going on. After being transferred three times. (Without being told I was being transferred) the Person definitely not a man came on the phone he told me my background came back less than a minute after I left, and then began asking me a bunch of questions that he had no business knowing I.e. "is this firearm really for you?" "Can your husband and son legally purchase a firearm?" This person also said exactly "The ATF IS GOING TO GO TO YOUR HOUSE AND THEY WILL CHARGE YOU 2500, and FIVE YEARS IN PRISON." I know for a fact others do not go through this B.S. This person was rude, doubting my intelligence, and called me a liar. If my background check came back "within a minute" after I left, why did I have to call close to 24 hours later to get a response? If my husband did not urge me to call, would I ever get a call from you? -I work a busy job with USAA (I'm apparently secure and safe enough to be employed, but your employees vast knowledge of my character obviously outweigh my 15 years of dedication.) I digress, my schedule changes on the fly. I often have to plan well in advance to get any kind of free time before 1700. This going back and forth is not accommodating for my work or my personal life. Which I should not have to explain to you. -When I went back to pick up my FFL transfer with my husband, a army vet (who is a white man) the only thing that was said by the "person" who spoke to me on the phone was I quote "oh well you obviously can but this." Directed to my husband. This is the same person who told me on the phone I would have to speak to him and answer some questions for him. The very same person. But nothing was even needed from me. This P.O.S. just saw my husband and gave it to us. I have been profiled and discriminated against, because I am utilizing my 2nd amendment rights. This experience will be told and shared to as many friends, family, and co-workers as myself and my family can find. If you're a beginner then your at the wrong place. I came with my wife and the same guy asked us 3 times if we need help, but I didn't get the feeling they trusted us. I felt uncomfortable. My handgun purchase was ok. I could've get better informed that there are versions that have the ability of mounting a red dot. The holster recommendation was totally bad. My gun didn't even fit in there but he said that it has to break it. But whenever I tried to put the gun into the holster it pushed the slide back. It was of course unloaded. My first rifle purchase was even worse. The man gave me only 2 options of $650 rifles for over $800. But I told them that I want a very good quality. Another man was very nice and he recommended a good scope for a very good price. But overall I only had a choice between 2 cheap rifles. I don't appreciate it being treated like a child because I'm new at this. I told them I don't want to buy in 2 years another rifle. The rifle bag was also awful. I returned it with the holster. After a couple of weeks I returned my rifle too and took my chance in another store. My shooting range guys are like family and I have been treated well and they explained it properly. And I looked up reviews etc. and now I paid twice for my rifle but I'm super happy. More importantly is that I never felt welcome and some workers appeared to me arrogant. One day, I felt so bad after I opened my gun to show that I emptied it. There's was no sign that explains how this works. I have concealed carry and know the safety rules. I did NOT point in any unsafe direction and my finger was high up off the trigger. And I emptied the gun at home and inspected it visually and physically. But I didn't know how they handle incoming guns. Now I know, but felt pretty awful and just wanted to leave. Their ammunitions are heavily overpriced and so are their guns and rifles. I will buy a gun for my wife soon, but definitely not here. read more
