This was our first time visiting the farm during the harvest season. We didn't get to do everything (newborn & toddler needing a nap) but there was sooo much to do. Farmer John's really spent time and resources making upgrades to everyone's experience when they visit. One of the most noticeable improvements was the concrete paths that have been poured, circling the attractions. This makes the farm completely stroller friendly and so much easier for moms with young kids. My daughter also got to do the pony ride which was such a special treat for her. I should also note that it was only $15 to get in. We went to another pumpkin patch here in the valley that charged just as much, but had way less attractions, amenities and things to do. Been coming here for years since they were in the Riverbank location and the expansion has been wild. The owner usually is around being friendly to patrons. Staff is always pleasant and accommodating. My kids love it and we love seeing the new additions of baby animals in spring! Very nice family outting on the farm. This pumpkin patch was really disappointing because of the way they structure their pricing. When you arrive, there are two options: you can get a lanyard that only allows you to walk around the pumpkin patch , or you can pay $15-$20 (weekday vs weekend) per person for a wristband that lets you access the other side of the patch where the kids' attractions are. Even with the wristband, you still have to pay extra for certain activities, so it starts to feel more like a theme park than a family pumpkin patch. The part that bothered me most is that as an adult, you can't even go on most of the attractions--but you still have to pay the full $20 just to stand near your kids, supervise them, or take pictures. I don't think parents should have to buy a full-price wristband when they're not even using the attractions--just accompanying their children. I understand that those are the rules, but charging parents extra just to walk next to their children or watch them play feels like a scam. There are plenty of family-friendly pumpkin patches that don't nickel-and-dime parents just to supervise their kids. We came for the first time today to check out the flower picking. Upon arrival it was only us and 1 other group, so it was peaceful and you could take your time picking what you like. It was also nice for photos without people in the background. By the time we left it was much more crowded, so just fyi. Also note that sandals and heels aren't the best for this activity. There is lots of dust, mud in some areas and dried up plants that could scrape exposed feet. Overall we had a wonderful time! All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful! The fields are beautiful! Aside from the flowers, we saw plenty of bees and a few humming birds. The petting zoo area was clean. The animals were cute and friendly. However some of the goats at the entrance l are extra greedy for the food, so be aware and take your time walking and seeing them all before you pick who to feed. 10/10. We brought our kindergarten class to Dutch Hollow Farms for a field trip and the kids had the best time! They absolutely loved seeing the animals, learning how to milk a goat, and playing on the giant slide and playground. The staff was welcoming and great with the kids. Although our tour was cut a bit short due to a delay with our bussing, the experience was still wonderful and memorable. We're already looking forward to coming back next year! read more

My boys' and I have been coming to Dutch hollow for over 13 years! Way back when they were in riverbank. The vast growth over the years has been astounding and so fun to watch! My boys love to visit during pumpkin season! The attractions, the huge slide and of course the animals! ( that's my personal fav). Both , The taco trucks and desert/ coffee trucks are the finishing touch to our visit. John, the owner is always around and has always been extremely kind to myself and my kids. He's very kind. Amy is the manager, usually in the ticket booths working or Helping, and she's also extremely kind and one of the sweetest people I've ever met. She's also super knowledgeable of the farm and the animals. Be prepared to get dirty and dusty though! You're going to a farm after all. read more

Fun and exciting, our kids loved it. Of course, we did as well! The little ones loved the zip line, and the food trucks were great too. However, we did not enjoy the seating. A family came over and invaded our space while we were eating and acted like they were on the table first. Yeah, I was pissed but. Visited this farm during tulip season! I'm not sure if it's still open since it's a seasonal occasion. We were able to pick wild tulips for $1 each. A basket is provided to carry the tulips. I'm not sure if it's because we came late but many of the tulips were already over blossomed (not sure if that's the correct word), however we were still able to find some good picks. I would recommend bringing a case with water if your planning to go elsewhere after and not straight home! read more

We stopped by Dutch hollow farms yesterday! It has a new location that's a bit further away. It has much more space and things to do. From what I saw there are two different parking lots. Parking is free. We got confused and ended up parking in the second lot. You walk a little ways to the entrance from the second lot. Also, the parking area is very muddy and has no cement so wear boots if you're going or shoes that you don't care to get dirty. You enter through the store and there is no entrance fee. They have a variety of pumpkins. There's a lot of space for you to take pictures and have your children play and pick their own pumpkins. My kids rode the horse. You pay cash or card at the horse ride. Also, you can get a day pass for the other fun things. The prices are very reasonable. They also have a lot of food trucks and food vendor choices which are delicious! It was pretty crowded but it's all outdoors. Just keep your distance and be patient. All in all I'd come back. My kids had a blast and we enjoyed our time there. They have way more stuff to do now. read more

The part in which I did not like was the parking area. So crowded and hard to get out of there. Also, when you walk in it's super narrow, especially with people coming and going. We came here for the Christmas lights. The entrance is lit up and the speed limit is 5 mph. There is a huge dirt parking lot. Make sure to take comfortable shoes . You walk in and the entrance is only $5 and 2 and under are free. You can not beat this price nothing cost $5 and there's a Santa there. Everything is outside so dress warm. After you pay you walk and get to see the animals. You get really close and can take great pictures. Then there's a hot chocolate booth that only cost $2. The service is great and prices are the best. There is a lot of lights it does get really dark. You get great pictures. Also it's out in the open and kids face a ton of fun running around. The lights are very beautiful and creative. And the end there's a huge Christmas tree and pictures with Santa. This place is definitely a 5 star I loved everything about it. great place to visit w/my grandson. It's getting bigger every year with something new added. I liked last year better, honestly. The baby ducks were not there. Nor the baby goats:( the animals seemed sad for some reason. Baby cow sucked on my finger which really got to my heart strings, didn't Want the food or water provided.. just to suckle on my finger:( made us sad & a few other guests. the big slide seemed smaller. and it's so hot and dusty out there.. why not have some ice chests /cold water for your guests available to sell water?!! Appreciate water is only $1... but.. such an inconvenience to go all the way back to front and pulling kids away from the fun to do so. Why not put in the little house that sells the rocks for the panning?? ( *extra charge for panning for rocks but, you get to keep the rocks you find.) Its just too far to go to front with young kids that are playing. and.. hand washing stations were out of soap, water & paper towels. can you please put those in a more convenient place as well?!! this year the set up seemed so backwards from entry to Parking to simply needing to wash hands before getting on your way. Set up Was definitely not w/kids in mind. the new tennis ball shooter was cool. Enjoyed the zip lining.. but the crash against the pole is crazy. How bout some padding between the metal carabiners and pole? Cost: $12 each, 2 years and older to enter. Everything is going up ... $2 more than last year. And how bout a few chairs and umbrellas for parents at the jumping pad and tire playground?! What are we supposed to do while watching our kids play? We have been here a couple of times but always closed. Glad despite the rain they were open. It is in rural Modesto and easy to get to with Google maps. Entrance was $20 (for munchkin and I due to the babies but otherwise would've been $15) which included baby animals... you can pickup and hold the chicks and ducks!!! So awesome. They have signs posted everywhere... and when I say babies they are days to a few weeks ago only!!! A baby calf was 10 days old and some other animals 3 days old!!! Do not believe i have seen so many baby animals in one area before. We were informed that was the chickens and ducks are old enough they will be let go and free to roam the farm soooo awesome!... They have a jumping platform, a big slide, a bunch of interactive stations, zip line, petting zoo which is all included. They have a mining station and it is $8 to $20 a bag.. depending on what you want to mine. Since munchkin loves fossils and rocks, this was perfect. Staff was super friendly and talkative about the animals and helpful. Definitely check it out. Unfortunately they sold alot of the tulip selection over the weekend and had a small selection left today. read more

This place is more of an open dirt lot with dirty crowded pens of animals, and a few activities for kids scattered amongst a lot of broken down farm vehicles and other random junk. We came for baby animal days and were appalled to find listless and lethargic animals with liquid green diarrhea and feces-covered and matted coats in the petting farm, baby chicks and ducks in open topped containers in obvious distress as crowds of children picked them up and dropped them over and over, and no obvious larger areas where the animals have any space or privacy. Calves are locked into cracked plastic containers, and the grown cows are in a metal enclosure completely covered in a soup of watery mud and manure. Rabbits live in wire bottomed cages surrounded by debris. The rest of the place looks half abandoned even though there was a decent sized crowd there. Half strings of Christmas decorations dangle into the mud, coils of lights, wire, and metal are scattered around, piles of junk litter the edges, including broken down rides in piles between "attractions". Although the premise of the place is great (petting zoo with jumping pillow, tricycles, tractors and tire structures to climb on), it wasn't remotely like a "farm", other than a small area of tulips growing (separate charge to enter). This is a dirt lot with ill-kept animals and lots of junk/garbage with some simple fun outdoor activities mixed in. Normally our family loves a good farm/pumpkin patch/countryside farm attraction, but this place was depressing, and downright appalling when it came to the animals' conditions. *I understand that there was a fire in one of the structures recently, and none of the demolished area was included in this review. **I grew up in the countryside and with four kids, I've been to more farms/petting zoos/county fairs, etc., than I can count. I like my kids to play and get dirty and don't expect a farm to not have a few hazards and much dust/mud. read more

I took my 3 and 4 year old for the baby animals and tulips today. We had an incredible time. The kids are already asking when we can go back. Went on a chilly Saturday, arrived at 10:30am (opened at 9am). Very little crowds. Even when we left after lunch, the crowds were not too bad. So many kid activities included with admissions. Portable toilets, but they were clean. We could bring a picnic lunch and eat at the tables as well. Great way to spend the day at an affordable cost. Cannot wait to come back again. read more

It's with a heavy heart, I write this review. I've always loved Dutch Hollow Farms, but after having a party here, I was left sorely disappointed and a little disgusted. As we were eating, our attendant (who was very sweet) informed us that kids were free to go play whenever they were ready. She made it point to let us know that the kids may need some help getting onto the zip line, so an adult or parent can accompany them for assistance. As I'm enjoying the petting zoo, the owner (a taller that 6'0" white man) comes walking sternly towards me. The owner informs me that an attendant is required to be present while riding the zip lines and the slide. He further explains that some of my party guests disobeyed him (mentioning that he should have announced himself as the owner) and by disobeying him, it felt like a slap in the face to him (as he made a slapping motion towards my face- I'm a 5'1" woman of color who found this extremely triggering having survived domestic violence) as he has reasonable prices for birthday parties. He goes on to mention wanting to kick us out for the disobedience but decided not to kick us out since it's a birthday party (for my 9 year old). I explained to the owner how I was under the impression they were free to go on there own, as that was the information I received from the attendant. All of this was in view of my party guests... who were highly concerned and found it difficult to enjoy themselves after this incident. A clear case of... Miscommunication between the owner and his staff. Leaving myself and my guests at his mercy. There was another party present the same day. The other party (a white family) went smoothly.. all guests from that party were taken together as a group to the attractions. While it was a good price, I won't be returning. read more
