We ate here for two meals, Saturday night dinner and Sunday brunch. For dinner we had the Seafood Sauté with Cajun sauce and the Broiled Seafood Platter. Both were absolutely delicious!! From the salads and fresh bread (yummy) to the main dish we were not disappointed. Our server was attentive and did not rush the meal. Sunday brunch was impressive. Choices of prime rib, salmon, chicken, crab omelette (with big chunks of crab), cream of crab soup(my husband had three bowls) plus many other items. Also salad bar and desserts to finish off your meal. Coffee, hot tea and soda included. You could order mimosas for $1 extra each. Delicious! I can't wait to go back to Frederick and go again. Saw some other reviews being negative on the ambiance. They have separate rooms with fireplaces and wood paneling walls. Reminds me of a stately house. Made reservation for dungeon for my birthday celebration with my Frederick Ladies Night Out Group. Atmosphere & Food always Top Notch. However, the longer we stayed and as members started to leave and our size of the party diminished we were basically given the check and stopped being served because they had another reservation for that table that was waiting and wanted the much higher revenue and tip that would have come with the larger group. When I made the reservation I was very clear that this was a large event that would ebb and flow in #s given the nature of the event. I gave the max range of 10-12 attendees. After 2 hours and becoming half the size our welcome was over. Server appeared annoyed and too busy to give us his time dropped the checks and I asked if there was another reservation waiting for the table. He said YES. I had no issues giving up the table but would have preferred management/staff to offer to move our group to a smaller seating arrangement elsewhere so that we might have been able to continue our celebration. Very disappointed with how the situation was handled and had much higher expectations from this establishment given its esteemed rapport & reputation level it likes to maintain with the Frederick business community and upscale clientele it targets. Being the birthday girl & hostess & founder of my Frederick women's group I was sadly disappointed and will not be returning for any of our future scheduled events. No one at our table was disappointed (2 teens and 3 adults) but nobody took their leftovers to go either. DD is still one of the best places in Fred, but they're getting ridiculous and with their pricing. We all know inflation is driving up pricing and it's clear they're trying to ride that gravy train for all it's worth. I heard all the hype, didn't back it up. Yes, there's steak and seafood. I wasn't aware they offer a buffet, really? The venue is absolutely gorgeous. We were seated by a roaring fireplace. After that, not so good, They have no beer on tap! The beer came out with a chilled glass, not frosted. I ordered scallops couldn't get them pan seared, only fried or broiled. They came lightly breaded, wet, and the sizes comparably , was all over the place. The House salad should have been elevated, it was very simple, no cheese. The rest of my party enjoyed their meal but didn't think it was worth near the prices being charged. Two things that could have elevated the experience, beef Wellington and concierge parking. I was a guest of a private birthday party. I was shocked that they had packed everyone like pigs on the second floor. There were hundreds of people there. The tables were so close to each other. The place to go for a delicious crab cake! Their cream of crab is amazing also. Top notch and attentive service. Ambiance on the main level is great for formal evenings and events. Downstairs in the dungeon still has the amazing service but a more casual setting great for a night out with friends. It's expensive, but seriously some of the best seafood you can get in this area. Full disclosure: this place is pricey. If you're looking to wine & dine with seafood or steak, you're looking at at least a $40 to $50 meal. But I am giving this place 5 stars because in my opinion, the quality of the food is worth the money spent. We decided to eat here on a Monday evening and were seated as soon as we arrived around 6:30 PM. This is definitely a higher scale restaurant, so be sure to dress accordingly. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that on Monday evenings they have a special half off wine bottles. We ordered the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and it was delicious. The wine has hints of lemongrass, citrus, and snow pea and paired wonderfully with seafood. We ordered the fried zucchini as an appetizer and I would highly recommend it. The zucchini was fresh and the breading was cooked to perfection. We then decided to split the broiled Dutch's Seafood Platter (which, by the way is perfect for 2 people and is cheaper than buying two separate meals). This includes 2 large shrimp, a dish of crab imperial, a crab cake, 3 scallops, and a lobster tail, all for $58. The entree also came with a salad and a vegetable. We chose green beans and they were cooked perfectly. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal at Dutch's Daughter. I would recommend to anyone looking for a romantic date night or for any family looking for an upscale dining experience. read more

I went to brunch here last Sunday for the first time. (I've been to dinner, banquets and to Dutch's Dungeon for Happy Hour and have enjoyed all of them.) Sunday brunch is fantastic, though! Where else can you have all-you-can-eat crab dip, Maryland Cream of Crab soup (my favorite!) and regular crab soup? Plus, there are all kinds of breakfast options, prime rib, and fantastic dessert options. You have to try their chocolate cream pie. It is the best! This is definitely a go-to destination for dinner, brunch and for special occasions! read more

Yum! Off of a neighborhood street, Dutch's sits in a beautiful estate style building with multiple rooms and a more causal restaurant downstairs, known as the dungeon. I came here for dinner with my family and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. From a classy ambience to perfectly prepared foods, it was a great experience! We started with the dynamite shrimp - great flavor, and a heavy pour of a perfectly sweet riesling. Their bread was warm, flavorful and came with cinnamon butter - delicious! I enjoyed the lump crab cakes with a house salad and baked potato. No filler here! The crab cakes were fresh and succulent, the sides a great pairing. My brother had the fried seafood platter, which he happily destroyed and my mom made quick work of the sea scallops. We were too full for dessert, but would most certainly return! read more

Food was okay, but the service here was terrible. Greeters at the front were accommodating but not very nice and seemed upset that I came without a reservation. Usually, a table for one in a huge restaurant is not an issue. My server, a young woman with a huffy disposition, ruined what should have been a quiet Friday dinner. My meal was brought out before I finished my soup and with quite an attitude. No server checked on me or brought water. And then, it took forever to get my check. David (I think that was his name) was the server at a nearby table was excellent--nice and engaging. And sadly, he was not my server as he was tending to a party. I ate the crusted tuna which seemed very fresh and had a nice sauce. It wasn't out of this world--you can find this elsewhere. I've been putting off this review since my FIRST trip there, because I'm finding it very hard to categorize the place into a box. It's no easy feat. On the one hand, you have a classy (enough) hall that serves good food in a cozy and upscale setting. On the other hand, you have overpriced standard fare that you could get at any chain restaurant without any noticeable uptick in quality, value or service. It's really difficult. I will say this, though: the food is not BAD. It's just not groundbreaking or 'the best thing I've ever had' good. It simply is. There is no extremism, no creativity, no theme. It's good food, it's basic fare. That's probably my problem, though, is the basic nature at that price point. I think you are paying for a ton of unused space the majority of the time. There is a lot of real estate inside, many rooms, and plenty of tables. I have never seen it busy, however, but I can only imagine what it's like during the holidays. Still, I have to question the fairness of the markup. I will admit, they do offer smaller portions, which I took advantage of on my last visit. Not really the apt cost associated with it, but it was better than overfilling myself. I do enjoy the ambiance, as well. They have a polished brass and wood feel, and there are other accoutrements that liven the place up. There are at least two fireplaces, plus a water wall, which was quite soothing. I won't balk at the idea of going back, but if I lived in Frederick, you probably wouldn't find me there of my own volition. If I want to dine out, I'm going to look for something more than the basics, even if they are done very well. And I can find more creative cuisine at lower prices, it's not that hard, even in that area. read more

Being from Southern Maryland I have a pretty picky palate on crab imperial and Dutches did not disappoint. The crab cake was also phenomenal, all crab and next to no filler.
