We had been to Duza's Kitchen a number of times when the restaurant was in Phoenix and absolutely loved it. When we were planning a day trip to Payson, I searched for places and was reminded that Duza's moved. Of course we had to visit. This restaurant is super quaint and homey. Their menu is pretty similar to what it was previously (from what I remember anyway for brunch). My husband ordered the House Hash & I got the Savory Crepe. The hash came with a good amount of meat and vegetables, eggs were cooked perfectly. The wild mushroom cream sauce in the crepe dish was absolutely phenomenal. There was a good amount of mushrooms inside the crepe itself, as well. We got the fruit plate for my son .. it came with some berries, kiwi, grapefruit, cantaloupe, & grapes plus some whipped ricotta & honey. I'd say a bit overpriced though .. Overall, super delicious food. Service was good too. They were very attentive in getting orders, bringing the check out, etc. Can't wait for our next getaway to Payson (mostly to dine here)! read more

I've been wanting to stop here for awhile & I'm sad to say I found myself underwhelmed. Super cute location. I love that they are pet friendly. The menu is creative & you can just taste the freshness & authenticity. The vegetables & herbs were front & center. Service was personable. The bummer was while you could taste the freshness of the produce, everything else was massively lacking on seasoning. The hollandaise tasted like a plain cream sauce (and hollandaise isn't even a technically a cream sauce). The pork was just meh. The green chili was lacking body & richness. Then there was my biggest restaurant pet peeve. They charge for their sides individually. I just can't justify spending that much per plate & not having a complete meal. No matter how good the meal is or how quality the ingredients are it makes me feel nickel & dimed. All in all I'm glad I went, but I don't feel like I have to go back. I feel like I know a lot of people that would love what their doing. I can think of several off the top of my head that love this flavor palette. I can definitely recommend them. I just can't recommend their green chili or hollandaise & won't be one fighting for a table. So overall I have to rate them middle of the road. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here when we ate at Duza's for breakfast during our trip to Payson in November. Everything we ordered was really superb and well executed. The restaurant is pretty cozy on the inside, but they do have an outdoor patio which is dog friendly which I love. It was chilly when we were here so we opted to eat inside. Service was excellent as well. When we came here on a weekend around 8:30-9 it wasn't super busy but by the time we left this place was hoppin! I'd definitely come here again to dine next time we are in Payson. read more

After various failed attempts to eat Balkan food in Phoenix, this ended up somehow being my first time eating cevapi--or as Duza's menu calls them, "Balkan fingers." Much of the dish was excellent: the ajvar (roasted red pepper paste) and Balkan salad were fresh and great, and the bread was made to order though maybe a bit squishy. The sausages themselves were underwhelming, bearing a strange resemblance to American breakfast sausages rather than tasting quite so Balkan. We had another excellent brunch Friday. Duza's never disappoints. We had the Savory Crepes and the Polenta Bowl with eggs, both excellent. Also had an Americano from their expresso bar. This little hidden gem is AMAZING GREAT FOOD AND SERVICE!!!!! The food is always delicious and the menu always has something new !! The French Toast dish is always my favorite. We live on the west side of phoenix but will make the trip just for the food. Service is hands down from every one and they even have a pet friendly front patio area with a pet menu. Just the overall vibe by the server(s) was not friendly. Offered a table in the sun or in the pathway of the patio. A customer offered a corner table more accommodating for us and server was perplexed of our move. Sadly we felt an overall you are an inconvenience to us vibe. Was presented with a special on a board that didn't look appealing, was overpriced (for 1) and if shared will cost an add'l $5. Another entry asked if I could sub bacon for pork belly. Was told no sub! Patio over crowded, closed in feeling, poor server service, we packed up and left before any more damage could be done. What a gem in the pines! My husband and I were at an AirBnB & stopped at Duza's on the way home. We had a 10 min. wait for a table on a late Sunday morning. I would have happily waited for 30mins to score a table here! The food is truly amazing and despite the "busyness" of the restaurant, the service was also quite good, efficient and friendly. I ordered the French toast & my husband got a veggie omelette. We shared our dishes and both were sooooo wonderful. Fresh ingredients and beautiful plating. Hands down the BEST food in Payson. We've been to the area several times over the years & always said we love coming to Payson, but the food options are not great at all. That all changed when we tried Duza's. The place is so cute. Looks like it used to be someone's house, and now it's an artsy, quaint little cafe with the most amazing food. Service was a little slow at first, but once we ordered, the food came out fast. It was OK, we enjoyed sitting & taking it all in. Loved all the little touches & details. I would love to give this place more stars, if allowed! We enjoyed the most fabulous breakfast here- my husband enjoyed the house hash, I had the polenta, and our friend enjoyed an enormous four-egg omelette! Service was highly attentive- our drinks were never half empty. Each dish was presented beautifully, with impeccable flavor to match. I had my new EIT (elite in training) go to town on researching a good brunch spot on our way back from the Strawberry scene- she promptly pulled Duza's up & it was kind of a no-brainer since there wasn't much else in the vicinity & this was also a Sunday. Yes, it is a popular spot! There was a wait when we arrived, but not more than about 20 min. There is decent parking if it isn't too crowded to the side, but I found it just as easy to parallel park across the street. What did slightly deter me: the patio is a nice seating area where dogs are allowed. But, I found myself having to crawl over & maneuver around the dogs sprawled out & eagerly wanting attention. I'm allergic, so that was not the best first impression. It was more than clear we could not be accommodated on the patio without me coughing & wheezing. Inside is much better if you are cursed in my capacity to be allergic to dog dander. We were seated at a very quaint table to the left of the restaurant. When examining, it is obvious this is a converted older homestead- and it brings all the eclectic charm! Absolutely loved the decor. And what was most interesting (seriously) the bathroom! That is shared, but immaculately clean! ...not just clean, but so freaking cute with the deco! I actually wished I had brought my phone to photo. You can really appreciate more of the building & it's history visiting the facility. I think that's the first time I've ever recommended a bathroom?! The food is a bit much, in my opinion. It comes off as very "fancy" or gourmet. While still trying to come off as a "small town basic diner". It just doesn't work that way. It isn't bad in any way, but the prices were steep for what is served & I didn't feel like half of the ingredients belonged. It reminded me of trying to mimic a gourmet cooking show but falling short. Water & dining utensils were promptly offered. I thought the water was fine, but others said it tasted like dish soap. They ordered a soda- took a reminder to receive. I know each of us enjoyed our selections from the menu. It's a little difficult because they try to over-enhance. There was nothing that stood out about the two eggs, sausage & biscuit platter. I actually found it more of a mess to differentiate what I was eating & it just didn't flow too well. Leaving this as a higher regard because both companions seemed to really enjoy their selections. Similar but different. Plus the side of potatoes. We honestly couldn't taste the claimed "lavender" seasoning. My thoughts ended up being more along the lines of overpriced ad for basic roasted potato wedges. But, the two of them enjoyed enough to order a dessert. It looked better, and it was nearly gone so I think it's safe to say the pie is good! Would I go out of my way to stop here again? Probably not. It's popular due to lack of alternatives. I didn't really find much on the menu I was thrilled or curious about. What I ordered was nothing I can write extensively about (a problem if you are known for "word vomit"). Not bad & worth it being the only local option aside from fast food, just not as good as it could be. More clout than what was exhibited. read more

Short wait to get seated on a Sunday morning... and they were able to accommodate us outside -- YAY! I went with the House Hash with my eggs over easy. Excellent! Tasty! Packed with flavor! My wife's meal, on the other hand, was kinda bland and boring tasting. Forgot exactly what she ordered... but it was a bowl and I was originally going to order it... so I'm glad I went with the House Hash! We kept it simple and stuck with water... and our server was quick to refill when needed. Mother's Day breakfast! We were worried it would be too crowded because they don't take reservations, but we were able to get seated very quickly, outside, because we had our dog with us. They are very dog friendly! We had two vegans, a vegetarian and a meat eater. They ordered roasted vegetables with a side of rice. The veggies came in a bowl the size of a cereal bowl. Stunningly poor value for $27. Not only is the place clean and adorable but the food was amazing! The breakfast menu included so many unique selections - truly something for everyone!! I had the The Shepards's Biscuit. The cheddar jalapeño sausage had the perfect kick, the brisket was tender, eggs were cooked perfectly and the biscuit was like none I'd ever had, sweet and crumbly. Fantastic for brunch and terrible for dinner. Minimal vegetarian options and terrible service experience. There were three tables with patrons so it was not busy by any means. We had two elementary school kids with us and one is a picky eater. No kids menu which is okay because typically restaurants are happy to boil a cup of pasta, add a little olive oil and charge $18. We would have been happy to pay this, especially because they have penne on their menu. Server/chef refused. We asked about a fruit plate instead, seeing that there was a bowl of apples, bananas, and oranges right by the kitchen. Would have been happy to pay $18 for cut up fruit. Server/chef said nope! The final straw was when we asked if the charcuterie board could be without meat and maybe with more of one of the cheeses. Server/chef says nope! The server started off friendly but was quickly disinterested in helping us after the first time we asked a question. Unfortunately I cannot say I recommend Duza's at this time. I mean really... can't make plain penne or a meatless cheese board...? Come on. Do better. read more
