This place had a really nice atmosphere. You walk in and get in line. There are menus near the line to look at while you're waiting. You order your food at the register. You serve your own drink. They have sodas, coffee, tea, iced coffee, milk. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. Your food is served at your table. DV8 makes they're own cinnamon rolls, crossiant, and bread daily with natural ingredients from scratch. Very fresh very delicious baked goodness! I ordered the grilled PBJ. The bread was so soft! DV8 Kitchen greatly exceeded our expectations! A random local that we ran into mentioned that we should try this place for lunch cause we happened to be in this part of Lexington. Not knowing much about the restaurant since we are originally from Houston, TX, we took the chance and went for it. Walking in, the place was packed, but with the amazing smells coming from the bakery/kitchen you could see why. They are open everyday for breakfast, brunch, and lunch offering "life changing food." It wasn't just life changing food for us eating, but this place focuses on offering a second chance employment opportunity for those in substance abuse recovery. I don't know about you, but I LOVE any establishment who is working towards helping the community and helping to change peoples' lives for the better, so thank you! Besides their amazing concept for the restaurant, their food really backs up their motto of "life changing food." After ordering at the counter, you sit wherever you feel like and they will bring your food to you. But my favorite part of this restaurant was their homemade bread/butter bar! I've never seen anything like this at another restaurant, but their scratch made sourdough bread was to die for! You were allowed to help yourself to a slice, and choose from an assortment of homemade syrups, butters, and marmalades/jams. The winning combination for me was a thick sourdough slice topped with strawberry jam, honey butter, and apple butter, absolutely blissful! Then we tried their monte cristo sandwich, pimento cheese & chicken sandwich, and their special for the day, Mediterranean avocado toast. Everything was fresh, tasty, made from scratch! My only complaint was that I wanted more because it was so delicious. DV8 Kitchen also has a nice patio area available to enjoy the nice weather, we'll make use of this next time. Excellent breakfast here. I've eaten here once, I had some sort of taco dish that I wouldn't normally try, and you know what? It was excellent! Bread was fresh-baked, staff was friendly, helpful, excellent in every way, 5/ 5, would go again. But this review isn't so much about them. It's about the noxious, self-righteous, smarminess that crops up among Yelp reviewers. Most especially, the Yelp Elite. I read a review once where the author said, "I mentioned to the hostess that my wife and I were Yelp Elite members before we were seated..." and right away I knew this guy was an asshole. The only reason anyone would say that is as a veiled threat: "I'm a self-important asshole on the internet, and if I don't get special snowflake treatment, I'll say mean things about you on the internet and ruin your business!" Fuck. Entirely. Off. (Ironically, Yelp's auto-editing bot is telling me that "This review's looking *pretty epic*! Nice!" right now, despite the fact that I have nothing good to say about the website or the so-called "community" in it.) As for the "Yelp Elite", I've written a few reviews for restaurants I really like, and doing that, I've been half-way invited to a Yelp Elite dining event. Some sort of social coordinator/ moderator/ self-important asshole whose whole self-worth revolves around being a bigwig on Yelp sent me a message saying, "I've liked your reviews! We're having a special Yelp Elite dinner at such-and-such restaurant, and you're on the "maybe" list! We're full so far, but if someone drops out, you can sit with the rest of the cool kids and act like an obnoxious snob undeserving of special treatment, but demanding it anyway!" Um, I didn't ask to join your celebratory circle-jerk, and having worked in the industry myself, the last goddamned thing I would ever want to do is spend two hours of my valuable time being associated with assholes that think they're somehow "better" or "more deserving" of special treatment than everyone else. If I wanted to do that, I would go to church. I like restaurants that produce good food and provide a comfortable environment. So far, DV8 Kitchen is leaping that bar easily. Came here for their collaboration night with Pasta Garage, another one of my favorite restaurants in town. Unfortunately they were out of everything on the collab menu except for their caprese pasta salad and tiramisu by 7 p.m. It was their first time doing the collab so I can't be too mad for them underestimating they crowd they would get. Despite me having a hankering for Italian, a normal meal from DV8 never disappoints. I got The Best Burger In Town, which was a delight. Unfortunately they left off the caramelized onions, however. The burger completely fell apart while I was eating it, but it was still a good choice. I've previously gotten a few breakfast sandwiches from DV8 and they have been really good. The cinnamon rolls are can't miss. My wife and I were able to split the tiramisu cinnamon roll, which they still did have some of. It was rather sweet, but still divine. Best of all, DV8's message is one I can really get behind. It's definitely a restaurant you want to support and I can encourage you to look in to why. read more

Perfect stop for brunch or lunch. There is not a single bad thing on the menu, so the hardest part will be not picking everything. All their breads are made in house and are so delicious. They have breakfast options all day, but are only open until 3. They also have great lunch options and amazing burgers on their made in house buns. Their prices are affordable so the whole family can come and eat without braking the budget. Be sure to get a slice of free sour dough bread with marmalade on top while you wait for your food! A buddy and I were traveling through the area when we started searching for someplace to eat. We couldn't leave our eyes when we saw the reviews for this location. 400 reviews with five stars! To say the least we were both excited for what was to come. Two of the stars that I am giving are for the customer service being extremely exceptional. Unfortunately they only get one star for the food. I ordered a coffee with the breakfast plate and a side of French toast sticks.The coffee and French toast sticks were amazing. I ordered my eggs over easy and they were burnt on the bottom. My bacon was so cold it felt as if it just came out of the refrigerator. After the employees had given such an exceptional review on the croissant I just had to try it. Unfortunately it came out just as cold as the bacon. I had made mention of that fact to the employees. With their extreme willingness to try and make the customer happy. They brought me out a fresh croissant that was heated. Unfortunately the second croissant was hot on the outside and ice cold in the center. The center of the croissant also appeared as if they had not baked it long enough as they were was a strip of uncooked dough. Just to reiterate. The customer service was exceptional. Let me start by saying... DV8 Kitchen was developed and operates as a second chance employment opportunity for people who are trying to redirect their lives. People in the early stage of substance abuse recovery often find it difficult to find employers willing to take a chance on them. Love the name...Love the concept...Love the food...Love the people. This place is hidden discreetly in a lil strip mall off of South Broadway. The hospitality of everyone here is on point. So friendly, cheerful, and helpful. They offer a Bread Station for free snacking while you are there. It has all kinds of jams, jellies, butters, and great things to schmeeeerrrr on your complimentary bread while you wait for your food to be served. Gotta love free stuff. The food is all made from scratch and made with love. I swear you can taste the love put into this food. They have the "World's Best Burger" and I suggest to try it. It is a burger with your choice of bun topped with a yummy egg. I go runny with my egg. I want that all over my face and beard to show I got something great. LOL. Oh DV8 Kitchen, you don't even need my review because so many people that have eaten here get it! This place is fantastic. We were passing through a few months ago and loved it. This was our second time here. Super fresh delicious food at very reasonable prices. This time I got the DV Ocho sandwich and it was amazing. Super balanced flavors throughout. Coffee is excellent. I told an employee how much I enjoyed the food and she told me the story behind the place that made me love it even more. Perfect place for a quick and tasty brunch. All the bread and baked goods are made in house and let me tell you, they are nothing short of amazing! We ordered sandwiches and tater tots, and still got to taste the sourdough at the free bread station! You can also try the toppings. The sandwiches. I had the chicken marmalade with the orange marmalade on the side, at the recommendation of my friend. The chicken tenders are gluten free!!! And so light and fluffy. Probably the best chicken tenders I've had. Marmalade on the side was a smart choice, because I got to put just the right amount for me. My partner had the basil chicken sandwich. It was light, fresh, and refreshing. Perfect for a summer hot day. He did look onto my snadwich with googly eyes though . I want to eat breakfast here every day for the rest of my life. I am truly sad that I no longer live in Lexington so that I can make that dream a reality. Amazing food. The huevos rancheros need to be on a biscuit- we are in Kentucky after all- but you won't be wrong going the more traditional route. I didn't know what I was in for so that's all I oredered on my first visit. But now that I know I'll be back and order like I haven't eaten in a week. Everyone working is so friendly and helpful even with a line half way to the door. This place is great. First of all, DV8 works with people for second chance employment. The train and also work with employers to work with second chance employment. What a great way to help the community. Check out the website. Secondly, if you are looking for some fresh baked goodies, you'll love DV8. Also the breakfast and lunch menu is Oh So Good! The staff is wonderful. From the order line to the clean up crew. There is a bread station with some fresh baked sourdough that you can cut yourself a slice and add some of the homemade jams or honey butter. My breakfast rueben was delicious with tasty corn beef chunks, bell peppers some Swiss cheese and some potato that seemed to be chopped up tater tots with an egg on top. The place was packed with a couple of longes hightop tables and some booths. We were able to get a table that with people just leaving and the clean up crew came by to make sure the table was clean. When we were leaving he said he would clean up and we did not have to put our waste in the receptacle. DV8 is just a great place to have breakfast or lunch and the staff is great. read more

This business is incredible. It may not appear as much on the outside and the inside seems pretty simple as well however just like in Beauty and the Beast one should not be fooled by appearances. DV8 provides more than just delicious meals it provides second chances. They are willing to give people a chance when other employers are not. The end result? An amazing restaurant. Don't get there too late on a Sunday. We made that mistake. Thankfully they have two large community tables in addition to the traditional table settings. Even with those you got to know your seat mates quite well :D All it takes is one visit to see why this is such a Lexington favorite. I think that eating at DV8 was an absolute delight! I am posting this review written by my daughter. I loved eating their food! They have the nice staff, & their food is to die for! I'd totally recommend the biscuit with butter or honey butter, or the croissant. Speaking of butters, they have amazing jams, jellies, and butters available for sale! They're delicious, and left me wanting more! You don't eat at DV8! You get to eat at DV8! For every human (It's pet friendly though) who is missing out, I'm sorry! You can also purchase merch! We bought two T-Shirts. They're VERY soft, and VERY comfortable! They also have cups, hats, baby onesies, and....shirts! i HIGHLY recommend going! My daughter, who has braces right now and is a picky eater, couldn't choose! (Her option for food that is). It's an amazing place, with free WiFi, and an awesome place to take a pic! I saw this restaurant on Yelp and decided to try it. It was wonderful!!! I was drawn by all the good reviews. They are true!!! My wife had Chicken and orange marmalade on a croissant. It was HUGE and tasty!!! I had the bacon, egg, and cheese on a biscuit. It was delicious. We also got an order of tater tots. They were in the shape of the letters of the alphabet. Really cool! Biscuits sing to my soul y'all. Who doesn't love a nice, warm, soft, flaky, buttery biscuit? If you raised your hand, go ahead and put them down cause you're lying! I've been really excited about trying this place because I've heard so many good things. Because I was short on time for a weekday lunch, I placed a carryout out order. I like to always try the simplest form of whatever the restaurant is known for...which had to be the biscuits. Because I don't eat pork, I ordered the vegetarian gravy to go along with it, a cream cheese cinnamon roll, and grabbed a piece of warm bread topped with honey butter as I waited on my food. Clearly, my goal was the carbo load trifecta. Y'all, I was sold at the [free] fresh warm bread, there is nothing better. I got into the car and immediately took a bite of my biscuit to enjoy it while it was warm and it lived up to the hype!  The unfortunate part of my lunch came after I got back to work, and not just because I had to be at work, ha! I went in for a spoonful of gravy only to find myself biting into a huge piece of sausage. I could not have been more turned off at this point. I called the restaurant back to see if they used "meatless" sausage for their vegetarian gravy to which they replied, no. I was then put on the phone with the manager, who apologized several times and I could tell he felt bad as it was my first time at the restaurant and this was my experience. He took my name, and said he would refund my lunch (done very promptly, might I add). I would say my lunch was ruined, but the saving grace was that magnificent cinnamon roll --- perfectly soft, crisp, and sweet.  Love: Food wise, from what I could try, was great! There are several things on the menu that were intriguing, and sound delicious just based on the description. I loved watching the workers make the various breads from scratch. As someone who appreciates cooking, I thoroughly enjoyed watching someone in their element, creating art. Dislikes: The reason I gave a 4 instead of 5 stars is because my wait was pretty long. Granted I went at peak lunch time, and it is a new restaurant, I had to wait a good 15-20 minutes for my order to come out (which I thought was a pretty simple order). But I know, you can't rush made-from-scratch. Also, my order was wrong which bums me out, however thank you very, very much to the kind manager that took care of my situation as promptly as he did.
