Our job entailed removing existing granite countertops and installing new quartz site countertops. He was very clear with me at the initial meeting that this was an easy job for him. Luis was extremely persistent with trying to gain my business and I was very hesitant at first especially after finding out he was unlicensed but due to his persistence and positive reviews on yelp I decided to move forward with him. Below lists the main pros and cons I experienced dealing with Luis: Pros: -Price is reasonable Cons: - Gave original price based on pictures and my measurements. After coming out he wanted to add more money for demo/prep so I showed him the original text which included all of it. He seemed a little shocked. - Had to come back multiple times to remeasure, grab sink template for fabricators last minute before install could start. - Text me to send him measurements on certain areas that he should have obtained. - He rescheduled 3 different times for installation time/date with practically no notice. Wife had to take off work one day because of this and my work schedule suffered. I had to keep moving things around to try and be present. Had to push back backsplash tile guy 3 times to the point he had to reschedule for a month out because he had other jobs already scheduled. - He didn't install new plywood like his bid stated for the majority of the countertops. Didn't explain to me why he didn't. - He brought his dog to our house and when I showed up from work one day his pit bull was in our back yard just hanging out with a bowl of dog food and water! Never asked if he could just figured this was okay??? I have 3 kids under 6 years old which he was aware of, they were just out running errands with my wife at the time. - He went through my tool box in my garage and used my screw driver, brooms, and am actually missing an extension cord that was on my work bench (have yet to hear back from him about this one) it's not that I wouldn't have let him use them It's the fact that he never even asked. Just grabbed them assuming it was okay. - Left my garage a mess every single day he was there. I had to blow it out each time he was complete. Except for last day because I cant find my extension cord which I always put back in the same spot. I'm pretty OCD about organization. - Swept up countertop area but never the floors which I had to do each time he left. - Left my hose on for entire weekend when he knew my wife was leaving in a hurry for a couple days. - Left old granite piece in my garage. Guess he thought I wouldn't notice but now I have to haul it. - Gave me attitude when I asked him about an uneven seam instead of take 15 seconds to explain how he could remedy it. - Was very paranoid when it came to getting paid. He would ask for money before any progress was even made and then send me weird texts wondering if I was going to pay him. Just felt odd. - You have to write a check directly to him. He doesn't have a business account. - He is unlicensed. - Installation looked okay at first. After looking at it closer you can see a lot of problems. Just look at the pictures.

Best deck refinishing contractor I've ever used. Chris not only agreed to squeeze me in on a tight…read moretimeline, but he agreed to use Penofin natural hardwood oil on almost 1600 square feet of ipe wood deck. For anyone that's worked with Penofin on ipe before, it's an enormous amount of work. The wood is so tough that it requires special high-pressure washers, and the oil must be careful rubbed in and buffed off by hand to avoid pooling and turning sticky. Many won't even do it. Chris's guys were friendly, polite, professional, and incredibly meticulous with the work. This is the fifth time I've refinished this deck over the years, and this is by far the nicest looking result. And they were considerably less expensive than the others! Even once the job ended up being a lot more work than they probably expected, Chris was honest, professional, and insisted on holding to his original quote and date. But they did such a good job, I felt bad and ended up giving them about 50% more than the original quote for the trouble. They completely deserved it. Will happily use them again.
