Have tried this restaurant twice now, and the only positive thing that can be said is that it's a slight improvement on its miserable predecessor at the location, J Chen. Food here is mediocre at best. Ignore the rave reviews, which compare Dynasty against other Chinese-American strip mall joints in north Phoenix/Cave Creek. The area is a lamentable desert when looking for anything approaching decent Asian-American cuisine. Eggs rolls are soft and mushy, typical of microwaved, frozen factory-produced products. Stir frys are poorly seasoned, lacking the require depth and layered complexity found in competently prepared dishes. Other dishes tried were found to be weakly seasoned. Hot and sour soup for example was neither hot or sour. Absent were mushrooms or shrimp or any other protein other than tofu. Soup also had been way over thickened with corn starch to a nearly gelatinous blob. All this at an exorbitant price for the mediocre lack of quality or substance. read more

Although open until supposedly until 9:00 per yelp and 7:00 from the sign in front, we were told that they were closed. It is in the same spot as J Chen. Same ugly, windowless atmosphere. But only this time, ownership seems to be lazy as we were told we were too close to closing time (not sure when that is based on door and yelp). Food looked like the same deep fried stuff. My friend found Dynasty last week. and recommended that we should give it a try. So off we went tonight for dinner. What a very nice pleasant surprise. Sue and Francis, husband and wife owners, started this place just 2 months ago. They are welcoming hosts and provided a simple, clean and modern decor to this Chinese restaurant. The menu has a wide selection and service was good and prompt. Great authentic tasting dishes with generous portion. We ordered Crackling rice soup, orange beef, fish filet with mixed veggi, and Yang Chow fried rice and have plenty for left over. This is a great and much needed addition to the North Scottsdale and North Phoenix area . They even serve Peking duck if you give them 24 hours notice. What a horrible experience ordering tonight. The gentleman I first spoke to , perfect English and relayed my order multiple times and my phone number too. My daughter picked up order and many things were missing and one was added, not by my order request. So called them to let them know order messed up. My daughter went back and charged her for the 2 missing original orders. I am pi ing mad. So tomorrow I will be visiting this establishment and want some answers. We had a wonderful family style meal tonight. There were 6 of us and we had a nice mix of options to taste. Everyone enjoyed all of the options which included the Szechwan shrimp, sweet and sour chicken, orange chicken, sesame chicken, fried chicken rice, calamari and New York egg rolls. Kathy and I had lunch here today. It was wonderful. Great Chinese food in our area for the first time! This place will do very good. Giving any kind of rating on a Restaurant is extremely subjective. I gave it 5 stars because of the food and service and LOCATION. If you're trying to compare any Chinese restaurant anywhere in the world, 5 stars in Chinatown in San Francisco compared to say a Chinese Restaurant in Dunlap, Tennessee probably would have to be on a bell curve. Wow!!! If you like Chinese food, my wife and I have found a real gem. We use to be a big fan of George & Sons. Francis was our waiter there for many years. But Francis took a huge step and decided to open his own restaurant. Since opening this past summer, He and Sue have worked so hard to bring their own spin to the food and the hospitality it takes to be a successful restaurant. I'm a transplant and out E you count on Chinese food to be comparatively inexpensive and definitely flavorful. The food at Dynasty is clearly freshly prepared and made to order but the prices are high for the quality. Our fried rice w pork, shrimp and chicken wasn't fully fried and wasn't at all flavorful. It was mushy. The Mongolian beef wasn't a standout. The egg rolls were the best part of the meal. Wife ordered teriyaki chicken and it was so burnt and dry it was like eating McDonald's meat under a heat lamp all day. Made a point of having lunch here last week and wasn't disappointed. The owner greeted us at the door and was very friendly. The menu had numerous lunch specials from $11-12., so something for everyone. I had the sesame chicken that came with rice options and your choice of soup. Portions were generous and the meal arrived in a reasonable period of time. Would like to try for dinner, but will wait until they have their liquor license. Sign on front door announces no liquor but license will come soon. Not sure what soon means but owner was quick to confirm that bar should be open very soon. I don't need liquor to enjoy my dinner, but sometimes a glass of wine or beer really compliments your meal. We each had different menu choices and were both very happy. The servings are plentiful and tasty. I'm especially impressed with the freshness of the vegetables in their dishes. Tried Dynasty based upon a recommendation and was very uninspired. We decided to do a take out order and was surprised first that a tip of 18% was added to the bill. I trying to figure out why they felt inclined to add that to your order. Next they said the food would be ready in an hour. I showed up 15 minutes early and the food was ready. I was initially excited that I didn't have to sit and wait but when I returned home which was 5 minutes away I became very disappointed. The food was luke warm.
