We wanted to try Thai for team lunch and came across this place. We went in and the ambiance is warm and cozy. We were served vegetable soup and it was perfect, we loved it. I went with drunken noodles with fried tofu and ended with mango with sticky rice for desert. The noodles was tasty but didn't like the whole tomatoes added to it! The mango sticky rice was the winner for me, in no time I had it completed. The service is rather slow coz they make it fresh and have to wait a bit for the food to be served. The food was pretty good. The service on the other hand was not great. 4 of us ordered 4 entrees and two apps - the spring rolls and a side of sticky rice with peanut sauce. Two entrees came out. I kind of thought they forgot the appetizers but sure enough 5 minutes later they brought out the spring rolls. Next came the other two entrees. I was curious to see if they were going to bring out the sticky rice - surprise they brought out peanut sauce - no rice. Fast forward a few minutes and the rice came out. Okay so they can't serve a table properly. Surely they can handle a bill. Gave them two credit cards - please split down the middle. I have loved coming to this restaurant for years. I was pretty surprised their rating was not higher when I checked in on Yelp today. Service is always friendly. They have terrific lunch specials for many popular Thai dishes. Everything I have tried here has been delicious from the entrees to the spring rolls. The food is very well packed to go so when ordering via DoorDash or alternate delivery service, it doesn't leak as I have experienced at lesser restaurants. I really love the food & the amazing service here, but when dining in, the ambiance is also worth a mention. They have gorgeous pictures and authentic ornaments throughout the restaurant from Thailand. It reminds me of my time spent in that country in years past. Lovely. Looking at the menu we were excited to try this restaurant. We love Thai cuisine. Sadly we will not be returning The restaurant itself, located next to That's Amore Gelato is gorgeous. Which is a good thing- since we had way too much time to sit there waiting on our dinner. First impression was good- the gentleman who greeted us sat us in a booth and pushed two small tables together so we could sit next to each other. We ordered thai iced tea and a mango smoothie for me. My wife's Thai iced tea was fine. My 'mango smoothie was a bad joke- a glass full of shaved ice and a few drops of mango syrup splashed on it. No coconut creme. And nothing but air came up the straw. Not a smoothie. Not even a good slushy. They were good about swapping it out for a Thai iced tea. We put in our order- a combo appetizer platter and the duck curry. The duck curry was ordered mild as even ' mild' Thai food generally has a lot of flavor and some heat. Then the fun- or lack of it- began. We arrived just before 5 PM. Our food did not appear until 6:15. Mind you, just an appetizer tray and one entree. They were doing a booming takeout business and forgot about us. Even though we faced the kitchen and counter. So was the wait worth it? Not so much. The combination appetizer was the bright spot. The chicken satay was excellent. The crab toast very good. The sweet potato very tasty. Spring rolls were very good. Tofu was fine but you can only do so much with it. The duck came out with the appetizer. As opposed to later as an entree should. Here is where it really fell apart. The duck, what there was of it, was not fresh and tasted frozen. The curry sauce wasn't just mild- it was almost flavorless. It is possible to make something flavorful that is still mild heat- wise. Trying to check out was another frustration. Only when I stood up from the table did they remember to bring back my card so I could sign. Again- they were too busy with people who had walked in for pick up orders. I would love to rate this place a zero, but that is unfortunately not an option. We frequently order delivery from here and love Thai food generally. We've had minor problems often enough, but nothing we couldn't overlook. A few minutes ago, our curry arrived with a little something extra special - cockroaches! I am still holding back the nausea as I type this, but I am hoping that anyone who is looking on Yelp right now, trying to find Thai for lunch, doesn't make the mistake of ordering from this place today (in particular) or ever! There's nothing quite as delightful as pulling up a bite of your lunch and finding a roach in it. This is on Thai Basil and has to be a kitchen issue. Gross. No more business from us. Clean your kitchen, Thai Basil! While this issue was clearly on the restaurant end, we had to contact Postmates to deal with it as they delivered it. The driver was NOT the problem here, and the delivery service was fine. Customer service from Postmates was completely lacking. They failed to comprehend that nobody wanted to eat from the contaminated batch of curry (identical orders) and decided that they would only refund one order. It is absolutely unacceptable since nobody wanted roaches as a side dish. Now I have no recourse but to contest this with the bank and reports this to the health department and the BBB. This whole thing was disgusting enough, but the idea that Postmastes actually thinks that anyone wants to go ahead and eat any portion of that curry after that is not only nauseating, it's ridiculous. Postmates is almost worse than the original problem at this point. Note: We carefully combed through and cleaned the sauce from the bugs in question to be sure of what we were looking at before just reacting, just to be fair to Thai Basil and not just assume. Being the only Thai restaurant on this side of town, there's a justice that needs to be served to deliver top notch Thai food. Sadly, our $60 dinner was not worth the money. Placed our order over the phone for pick up, was told to give them an hour. When I arrived there was NOONE in the restaurant, and our food appeared to have been sitting awhile. We gave them 45mins, but we got our food a bit on the cold side so I wish I would have come through sooner than advised. ORDER: -Beef drunken noodles: no spice, not much flavor and the noodles were very overcooked and a bit pasty. The noodle to meat and veggies ratio was way off. Mainly noodles. -Panang Curry: a little bland, no spice, mainly tasted like coconut milk. This is my favorite kind of Curry so for this to fall flat was a let down -Appetizer Shrimp Wrap: 7 pcs, its a whole shrimp wrapped in wonton and deep fried. These were good and had a really yummy plum sauce -Appetizer Pot Stickers: These were ok, a little heavy on the ginger. This is our first experience with this Thai restaurant. Staff were masked but did not require that of patrons. I ordered our usual Basil Chicken with no spice. The order was ready in less than 5 minutes. It smelled great. The flavor of the dish was nice. The chicken was somewhat lacking in quantity but there were plenty of veggies in the dish. We enjoyed take out food from TBS last night, 1/13/24. We have dined here take out only, so this review mostly focuses on their ordering process, food quality, and staff interactions during pickup. Firstly, ordering through the website is a bit clunky, with no menu drop downs or options to customize your menu choices. Example, no way to specify my protein on the Pad Thai dish. Interesting. So I called. The person who answered the phone was rushed at best, unintelligible at her most patient. Politely asking for a repeat of questionable uttering only seemed to speed the interaction above decipherable intellect. We compromised and worked through my order. Order placed she quoted a 25-30 minute pick up time. This was 15-25 minutes faster than our usual pick up quote...I anticipated a possible wait at the food hostage exchange. I arrived at thirty minutes, and there was one customer ahead of me in queue. She finished, I stepped up, and voila our order was bagged and waiting. The person behind the counter was pleasant, if not a bit customer weary. She stated she was exhausted (it was 6pm) when I politely asked about her day. One other constructive criticism- the tip suggestion on the bottom of the receipt started at 20% and went up in 5% increments to 35%. I calculated a 10% for pickup, for an even $70. We don't balk at paying higher prices for restaurant food anymore, because it's a service, and we are grateful for good, fresh, food...which this was. Got home and untied the bag to reveal our Edamame, Pot Stickers, Crab Fried Rice, and my Pad Thai w/chicken. The food was hot, and packaged well in sealed/non leaky containers. Very nice. Sides of soy sauce well capped were also included. My pad Thai was tangy with mild spice, a perfect entry level of zip. Nice mix of fresh veggies too, not steam stamped and just their right amount of crunch. Pot stickers were a little spongy, but a lightly crisp outside and perfectly sliced interior. Delicious. The edamame was also steamed nicely, and seasoned with a sprinkle of sea salt. My spouse's crab fried rice was good, although if you're looking for fresh/real crab at 21.95...think again. Still tasty, the rice was light and spice level perfect at mild. Just zippy, not a voice stealing burn. We add our own Siriacha at home...the perfect red volume switch. Overall a great take out meal here...no plastic or bugs to speak of. We will be back. read more

I am not to sure what is going on with this restaurant. It use to be the best Thai food hands down until the last couple times I have ordered from there the food has been horrible. No flavor, overly cooked noodles to the point of mush. I just placed an uber order and when it arrived the order was completely wrong. They took no time to read the special instructions that were in all capitals to not be missed. I am just so disappointed in the quality of food and service this restaurant has been giving lately because like I said it use to be so good the best flavors and best Thai food I've ever had. Their location right on Hayden and Pinnacle is a tucked away little spot but it's a great location and right next door to That's Amore Gelato. Their food was very fresh and good portions as well. Many protein choices...I selected the shrimp but there was chicken, beef, pork, sole, salmon and a couple of vegetarian options like tofu too! I'm comfortable with spiciness and asked for medium to hot, and I was sweating...so you can go really spicy here! TBS is a nice, cozy easy to find and park restaurant in the shopping center at Pinnacle and Miller in North Scottsdale. I had the lunch special: Pad thai chicken with all white meat chicken. For $10 it gets the job done and is a nice sized portion for above average value. Terrible!! The cooks need to get it together. We have been ordering from here 10 years, but have given enough second chances recently to never order again. Most recently the tofu on our take out order was cooked to virtual disintegration and the level of spice is extremely inconsistent, it's either not spicy or off the chart inedible. Even worse they will not take accountability for their mistakes, it's a you get what you get and still pay for something you can't eat situation. I hate to leave a negative review but I'm just so disappointed in this establishment, especially for the cost of everything these days. Continue to be frustrated with the level of spice in the food despite ordering the food to be spicy. We have been going to this location for years since it is the only one near us. Once the owners changed a few years ago, they started charging for using a credit or debit card, of course raised prices, but what is by far the most frustrating is the spice level in the food. It remains at a level 0 on the spice scale out of 10. Thai food is traditionally spicy, so very dissatisfied. I like a medium spice, but always request 10 to hope for spice. One occasion they did try and increase the spice by dumping red pepper flakes on top. That didn't help at all and was horrible. Anyway. I'm very disappointed and need to find another spot. This Thai restaurant became my favorite neighborhood restaurant. I am very picky about pad Thai. Too much noodle without rest of the stuff, like bean sprouts, green onions and nuts are not acceptable. Good ratio is very important to me. I am not willing to eat pad Thai for filling! Called in here last Sunday after a trip to Sedona around 5:15pm hoping an early meal meant it would mean a quick in and out trip but the service was so slow (even though it was quiet) and the food wasn't great. Appetiser was a combination but a lot was deep fried and tasteless, by far the best out of the selection was the chicken satay. As a main I had the fried rice with chicken and Panang Curry. The veg was completely raw, the rice came out 10 mins before the Panang and overall it wasn't fantastic in comparison to other Thai restaurants in the area. It was also clear that takeaway orders were getting priority over people eating in with no offer of more drinks, no checking in on how our meal was etc. I don't like leaving bad reviews but for the cost of the meal, the service nor food was worth it so doubtful I will be going back. read more

We went here for lunch today. We had the spicy noodles and the Panang Curry dishes. They were very good. The Thai spring rolls were very good also and we enjoyed the vegetable soup appetizer. We ordered fried tofu and summer roll (with plentiful shrimp and warm peanut sauce) appetizers. All four of us loved our entrees as well. I ordered from them and had it delivered with DoorDash. Started eating and found plastic cooked into my noodle dish. I immediately contacted DoorDash to let them know that the food quality was like and what I found. The restaurant was closed at that time so I could not contact them. 20 minutes later I started having a 'unknown substance' cardiac reaction to the food that ended me up in the ER. I have eaten here many times and do not have any allergies to the dish-- called the restaurant the next day to let them know and the lady that answered the phone said the owner is out of the country for a month and that she is just there helping and not even an employee. She couldn't tell me the names of any employee nor did she apologize. She just said call back tomorrow to talk to someone new but couldn't tell me the name of ANY one that works there or to call back when owner is back in month.
