Not as good as he used to be. He was unable to diagnose an electrical problem that was simply a blown fuse. I was forced to bring it to the dealer because I was led to believe it was a computer issue when it was not. I hate to have to bring anything to the dealer, but they were able to isolate the fuse as the problem with no difficulty. read more

I don't even know where to start. Had my car dropped off today in the morning to get a creaking noise checked out. They said they would call me and let me know what was going on. We'll all day rolled by and I called around 4 to see if I could get a time frame and update on my car. I called three times and got only the voicemail. I decided to drive by in my moms car to talk in person. The shop is closed and my car is sitting in the parking lot WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN, DOORS UNLOCKED and THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION. No one around. I can't believe anybody could walk up in the parking lot and literally drive off with my car. This is already in a shady part of town. The utter lack of car for the customers cars is ridiculous. Out of curiosity I checked other cars next to mine and same story. Windows down, keys in ignition. This is a literal joke. I came by because of the five star reviews but whoever this guy is letting work here makes it all a joke. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE. Unless you want someone to have easy access to steal it. * I waited around for 45 min before I could get someone to pick up my moms car. I took my car back home and get a call about a half hour later. They explained they had someone there to move the cars into the garage in the back. I called BS. Altogether my car would've been sitting with keys in the ignition and windows down and doors unlocked for over an HOUR. Ridiculous. read more

Here is a copy of my review: E&S is the only place where I take my car for repair. It is the best auto repair shop I've found in San Jose. One of the owners, Elias (e-Lee-uhs) is very polite and knowledgeable. He always fixes my car in a timely fashion and for a great price! He doesn't overcharge like at other places, but is fair and honest so his customers will keep returning. My boyfriend introduced me to this place. His entire family has been coming to E&S for years. His sister-in-law's dad literally comes all the way from Newark to get his vehicles repaired! We don't trust our cars to anyone else. Once, when one of the mechanics made a mistake, I told Elias who immediately fixed the problem himself, no questions asked (and at no charge, of course.) I have chosen this shop because of 5 star reviews, honesty, and fair price. The job was to change front brake pads on my car. The job was done today, and so far it is looking good. I am giving this business 1 star because of "test drive" that one of the guys, named Alvaro, did. The other guy told me that test drive is needed to test the vehicle--no problems. However, in the video you can see and hear few things. 1-st: is that Alvaro achieved a speed of 68 miles per hour(110 kmh) in a road where the speed limit is 45. Not only he was putting my property in danger but also other people on the road. 2-nd: Even if for some reason you need higher speed than the speed limit, which again, I doubt, to test the brakes, why are you accelerating so hard? The engine is cold but he doesn't care obviously. My car has several driving modes, and it starts off in comfortable mode. If you listen to the acceleration in the beginning, you can't hear the sounds because it is in the normal mode. However, start listening on 0:45 in the video, and you will hear how the sport mode sounds. So, basically he has switched the mode in which he was driving. At 1:09 again there is a hard acceleration and shortly after he reaches a speed of 68 miles per hour. At 2:02 you can again see and hear hard acceleration. All this three accelerations were done in sport mode. It is up to you to decide whether he was testing brakes or enjoying the ride. However, for me it is clear: I won't be doing any business here. We found E&S by a referral from SmogGuys down the street (another great & honest business) - we own a business and have several work vans that are driven constantly, we also have 3+ personal vehicles that we now ONLY take to E&S, due to the GREAT experiences we've had with them. We've been in business since 1998, and have tried many, many auto repair shops, only to be raped, swindled & disappointed - after our first experience with E&S, we were amazed with the good service, honest diagnostics, and quick response. My only regrets are that it seems the business is becoming popular & more busy - even so, they find the time to handle any appointment we need. I love working with Eli. He's the only person I trust working on my car. I really don't know anything about cars but he always takes the time to sit there and explain everything to me and is very good about pricing. His new receptionist on the other hand Im not very fond of. She's not friendly what so ever & when she was explains all the paperwork and payments she was like " well yeah it's right there, you can read It". She had her friend sitting there and she was rude to customers and had rude remarks to say. The only receptionist before Was waaaay more friendly and professional. These guys are spot on! I was referred from Tech 3 down the street because tech 3 was unable to work on a truck as large as mine. My clutch was failing, and even though I have a diesel E & S was willing to do the clutch work. When I dropped the truck off, I found a clean and orderly shop, and a staff that really seemed to be focused. My paperwork was done, and I was on my way in minutes! The job took a few extra days because there were some parts that were hard to get, and backordered, but that's not something can help. Still, they were in regular communication daily about the progress, any additional problems found, and my options were clearly explained to me. When the job was done, I arrived to find a COMPLETE set of documentation on the services performed. The technicians provided digital photographs of the work in progress, photos of where they found additional problems, in my case , a leaking rear main seal, and they even showed me all of the removed parts, and explained why and where all the wear points were an why they were important. WoW!!! I've lived in San Jose for 25 years and never met folks as honest and just plain gooooood as E & S! I was referred here by some friends who grew up in SJ." They said this family will do all they can to get your repair bill down". Because of the people who referred me, I believed them, and it has turned out to be the best decision I've made in years. It has been 2 years now, and Elias has not ever disappointed. I took my Lincoln Aviator 2 other places for an engine problem, & was quoted $2,200 by Ford and $1,700 by another repair shop. But Elias did it for $1,500 and on-time! My SUV has been running smoothly for many months now. E&S also helped us with repairs on a car to donate to a refugee family, again, looking for every way possible to keep costs down, but still perform quality work (again, an engine problem). They came through for this struggling family. E&S doesn't do a cheap job, but they are excellent at working through it all with you to decide on re-built parts, new parts, etc. Heaven-sent! read more

This shop is absolutely the best. They are so honest and have fair pricing. Whenever they suggest things that need to get replaced, I am always confident that it is something that actually needs to get done. They will often show me the replaced parts so I can see the cracks or whatnot that was wrong with it. They are super friendly and care about their customers. I once had a problem with my car overheating. Instead of just replacing a bunch of things they took the time to run multiple tests and diagnostics. When that yielded no answer, (as it did at other car shops) instead of guessing what was wrong, they refilled my coolant and asked me to bring it back in 2 weeks or if it started overheating again so they could see what changed. I left and was not charged a thing for half a days work at trying to figure out what was wrong with my car. I brought it back 2 weeks later and they were able to fix it. This is a trustworthy and honest business. I have taken my car here quite a few times since I moved here over two years ago. When I go to the dealer for an oil change, they tell me I need to get this, this, and that fixed and its expensive. I always come to E & S and show them what the dealer told me and they check to verify the repairs. Usually, I don't need it and if I do, they do it at a fraction of what it costs to do at the dealership. Marge is really nice and pleasant. Elias is quite honest.
