It's also a great venue for private events, especially if you have a band performance. They have a small theatre-like room in the back with a small stage, and can accommodate about 50-60 people. Service at the bar was friendly and warm. Restrooms were a bit disappointing... but maybe that's just what you get in old buildings. They have no parking lots and this is a dense residential and commercial area so plan some time to look for street parking. read more

Old school since 1969. Before heading to the Academy Theater we stopped by to have a beer. The ambiance is old world with a dark European feeling to it. They offer beer on tap and they accept credit cards. We sat at the bar and ordered two beers on tap, one an IPA and the other a Harper's. The bartender was nice and the patrons were friendly too. I am writing to share a concern regarding my recent visit to your bar and the service I received from the bartender, Michael. I initially ordered a margarita and asked Michael if he could make it. He said yes and mentioned that he does not drink, so he would not be able to taste-test it. After receiving the drink, I let him know that it was not to my liking the mixer tasted off and the drink was overly sweet. I clearly explained what was wrong with it and asked instead for a tequila and pineapple juice, shaken. When preparing the second drink, Michael poured it rather than shaking it and then served it in a small glass, leaving some of the drink in the shaker instead of using a larger glass so the full amount could be served. At checkout, I was charged for both drinks. When I questioned this, I was told the first drink could not be removed because I "did not specify" that I didn't like it despite the fact that I had explained the issue with the margarita and requested a replacement. Michael was rude and had an unpleasant attitude during this interaction. I have never been to an establishment where I was required to pay for a drink that I did not like or drink after clearly explaining what was wrong with it. I believe I should be refunded for the margarita that I did not enjoy or consume. I hope this matter can be resolved promptly and professionally. Glad that Molly Malone is back! One of the best Irish pubs around with some of the best prices. The drinks are a couple dollars less than other Irish pubs. The Irish coffee is a must. Guinness is must if you're here nice and cold. There's an adequate amount of seating but it was busy on St Patrick's day weekend so expect to stand and drink. Had an hour to burn after work while by Wilshire so popped in for a tipple since I was always intrigued by the exterior whenever I'm in this part of LA. Turned out to be a fantastic dark little place to spend some afternoon time. Warm lovely art on the walls of and by an old regular, really great (friendly, jokey, intelligent) conversation with Damian (the fellow who was tending bar) nice pours, good craic. I called today to wish the owner Damian who i have known since we were kids in elementary school a happy birthday. Some jerk answered the phone and I asked if Damian was there he said no and before i could inquire about his daughter he hung up in my face. When I tried calling back at first he wouldn't answer and then when he did he hung again with out even saying hello I don't know who this employee is! But I will say two things. We checked the Yelp app, and spoke to the staff at Peterson's, and MM's was close: We decided to check it out. Its on Fairfax, just North of Wilshire. This is a bar w/ no food, and we were glad for that. The bartenders were super cool as we indulged in Macallan whisky and Guinness. We were celebrating my socio's bday, and were pleasantly surprised 6 whiskies and 2 Guinness came to about $100. There is a band area on the other side of the bar and we also enjoyed that aspect of the bar. MM's is much more than a dive bar. If you are in the area looking for a dive bar w/ reasonably priced drinks, and entertainment on certain nights, MM's fits the bill. Your regular neighborhood Irish pub that happens to have a very central location. We've been to Molly Malone's on and off for years (even had an event held in a private room that went really well) and it's always been fun. Yes, parking is a tad (or more) tough on Fairfax but plan accordingly and be patient. They have cool, indie bands playing here on regular basis and we need venues that encourage local artists, so that's a plus in my book. Great menu, reasonable prices for food, nice beer selection. I like the atmosphere, it's fun to have live music and a beer! What more do you want?
