I had good service and a nice, brand new SUV. I ran off with the Registration for Temporary License and the Texas Liability Insurance Card for the car when I was cleaning my stuff out of the glove box. I'm scanning it here so you have it. Horrible experience, long wait, 20-30 mins from the airport in a run down establishment in the middle of nowhere. If you want to wait 2-3 hours to get your rental, then this place is for you! Wouldn't recommend! Pay the extra money and go somewhere else! read more

This is the second time I rent through E-Z, last time in San Antonio, and first time in Austin, and both time I had smooth transation with the company It looks likes the biggest complain is there is no E-Z rental in the car rental plaza, it is actually part of the Advantage counter. That is annoying if you never rent through them before, it took me few extra mins to realize that Advantage and E-Z rental are the same thing (Google Map didn't help either). Just look for Advantage in the counter and you will find E-Z The service is great, the girl that checked me in asked me standard questions, and suggested a upgrade (which I politely said no, and she didn't bother me again). I end up with a Kia Soul which I really liked. The car is clean, although there are scratches which they were noted Return was easy, everyone is very nice. We even joked about the weather. I rented a mini-van at Boston Logan Airport the weekend of June 8, 2018. Car rentals everywhere were astronomical and EZ Car was slightly lower. (Note: a friend told me I should have gone through Costco and would have gotten a much better deal) Upon arriving I had trouble finding their rental counter. Their video monitor was out and nobody had bothered to put up a sign or anything. Their counter was shared with Payless. There were not that many people in line, however it still took nearly an hour in the line before it was my turn. None of the other car rental counters even had a line. Lots of upsell on just about everything, including an unnecessary toll tag option. The ladies seemed confused when I said I needed the car for one more day......and that charge was double the normal rate. On the plus side the Toyota mini-van was in excellent condition and clean and suited our purposes very well. Return was a little confusing as there was nobody there to check in the car. I was told to just park it and leave the keys in it by a security guard. I doubt I will rent from them again however. The few dollars I saved were not worth the 1 hour rate.....especially since I had 2 other adults and 3 small children waiting as well. read more

This was very easily the worst experience I've ever had renting a car. Let's start at the desk location and labeling. EZ Rent A Car is actually called "Advantage." There is no signage at the Austin airport for EZ, despite that being the name I booked my reservation under. Additionally, the reservation said they were located on the third floor (technically the car fleet is, but not the check-in desk) of the rental plaza - they're located on the first. So I spent a while looking for the desk. When I got to the ADVANTAGE desk, there was only one employee working and very slowly at that. 30 minutes into my wait, another employee came out to "help." I watched this employee upsell and elderly couple for over 30 minutes (aka more waiting for me). It took over an hour to get to the desk with less than 10 people in line. When I finally made it to the front, the employee was unfriendly and continued to yawn incessantly - there was no apology for the wait and certainly no sign that they were trying to move things along efficiently. Lastly, he tried to make me produce proof of insurance - I've never experienced this at any rental outlet, despite what their contractual information says, I didn't have my insurance information with me and was eventually able to show him some email correspondence between my insurer and myself. On to the third floor to get the car - the car wreaked of cigarette smoke. I figured this would dissipate with the windows open (at this rate I wasn't going to ask for a second car given it had taken me nearly 2 hours to get this one). The smell remained my entire trip. Lastly, on day 2 of my travels, the tire pressure monitor came on - they were all low, so I had to make an extra stop to refill. Top to bottom, this business is run poorly. I actually considered making a reservation with another company while waiting in line - don't wait until you get there, book with someone (anyone) else. read more

Since it wasn't my name on the rental, there's no way they could possibly know what the issues are without engaging in a dialogue with me (they haven't). It wasn't even their employees that helped us. When we showed up, their counter was closed and we were sent to Advantage to secure our car... waited about an hour while one guy helped everyone waiting. We were charged $100 more than the original quote and $200 more than the price quoted at the time of securing the rental! ORIGINAL: If I didn't have to rush to the terminal for my flight upon returning the car, I'd picket their counter to save everyone else from my headache. read more

I booked the reservation through a third party but should have read the reviews before booking. There is absolutely no sign of where or how to locate EZ Rent a Car at Austin airport and why would you book rentals under EZ Rent a Car when your signage is Advantage? I spent over 30 minutes walking in circles trying to find the place since even people working at other car rentals couldnt point me in the right direction. Next time I would rather spend a few extra bucks and not deal with this. Tip: if you dont wang to spend money on the signage, at least let customers know how to find the rental booth in the confirmation email. read more

My experience was just like the others here. Long wait -- about 90 minutes -- while the lone agent spent 20 minutes with each customer ahead of me in line giving a hard sales talk, pushing CDW, toll tag, and other optional services. The agent admitted to me that they literally will not release a car to a customer until they've spent 20 minutes trying to sell optional services. "It's my job", the agent said. The Texas Attorney General has an active investigation on this company and they are seeking more reports from dissatisfied customers. Rent somewhere else. It's not worth the little bit of $ saved. 10/12/16 12pm pick up: Rented a car on carrentals.com and prepaid the reservation. Had to wait nearly an hour to get the car. They oversold and E-Z had to wait for cars to be returned and the cleaning process before supplying cars for existing reservations. There were multiple people waiting in this same situation. read more

I wish we had read the Yelp reviews of this company before we tried to reserve a car with them. First off, there was no one at their counter when we arrived to pick up our car. We were then told by a rep from another company that we were supposed to have arrived at 10:00 AM to pick our reserved car up, and nowhere on our reservation confirmation did it stipulate the pickup time. Then we were told that we had reserved the car for 20 days, and we had reserved it for six days, and since we were late to pick up the car, they had let it go to another customer, and they had no other vehicles we could rent. This rental car company is a front, they obviously operate on a shoestring, and they make up false reasons why they can't rent a car to you. I will never be suckered into reserving a car with them again. read more

Horrible. Stereotypical rental car difficulties. Even after my wife declined insurance it showed up on the bill. We had to go back to settle it. In person the next day. We alerted them to a check engine light and downgraded our replacement car. I am furious. Never ever ever rent from this horrible company. read more

DISGUSTING! Avoid them at all cost! That's all I can say. I rented from them a few weeks ago, thought was average experience. Then I booked them again like last time from airline's web site. Upon arriving in Austin on 11/2 near midnight, the agent there - the same fellow I talked to last time - asked me for insurance. I showed him my insurance card. He said he wanted the actual full insurance policy document. I questioned him why he didn't ask me last time, he said EZ rental policy had changed since then. I asked "what if I purchase all those damage waivers etc?", to my true astonishment, he said he could NOT rent any car to me even with those purchases. He asked me to show him the actual insurance policy documents. I have been travelling for over a decade, rented cars from all major companies. Nobody asked me to show them the actual insurance card, let alone the actual insurance policy documents. At that point, I felt this fellow was determined to screw me up. Without a word, I walked over to Hertz and got a decent service there. The actual cost in the end? Hertz is not that much higher than EZ -- supposedly the cheapest out there in Austin. Lessons learned - avoid those cheap vendors, stick to the ones you tried and true. read more

All in all a decent experience but really disappointed by the sales rep. The sales rep told me that an EZPass was indispensable in Austin and that there were tolls everywhere. He had a list with all the highways with tolls, I checked my phone, those highways did go through Austin. However none of them had any tolls even close to Austin. I even drove 2 hours out of Austin and never encountered a toll. Very disappointed that this sales rep benefitted from this asymmetry of information to upcharge me. Never renting from EZ or Advantage ever again. I paid 9.99 per day plus a lot of tax. read more

We were given the option to add insurance or the toll package and we declined both, but we were still charged $9.99/day for the toll package!! We called them and tried to dispute the charge (we couldn't go in person since we were already traveling to another city) and the first rep we spoke to did not make any effort to listen or assist me - he kept saying "it's a contract" over and over again. The second time, the rep we spoke to disconnected, and the third time, the rep said all the managers are in a meeting but one of them would call us tomorrow...but we are getting on an airplane and traveling all day tomorrow! One more thing - they added a random person's name to our agreement as an authorized driver! Would not recommend for anyone to rent a car from this company. They have not been helpful at all (we also had to wait an hour to receive our rental car despite making a reservation) and definitely have shady business practices. read more

We had a "no hassles" straightforward experience at Austin Airport EZ Rent A Car the first week of July 2017 - they printed up exactly what we reserved, showed us the cars we could pick - all in good shape - reviewed the car condition appropriately - and accepted it back - all with no hassle. Normally I do not write reviews, but they gave us a good experience at a good price and with so many negative reviews I thought the positive experience should be noted. We had the benefit of things not being busy and, as others have noted, there was no one at the EZ booth but a sign for the adjacent Aadvantage booth while the company gets established. Aadvantage handled everything smoothly. The only reason for not giving a 5 is that they are fine but not "over the top" on customer interaction. read more

Very deceptive practices. Was never offered the option of paying for tolls upfront. I assumed, my fault, that the ez pass would record them and I would pay at checkout. Turns out that the car did not have ez pass, I went through two tolls at $1.86 each, and was charged a $50 "administrative" fee for doing so. When I questioned why I was not offered the option to prepay tolls I was told that I was. I was there and believe me it was not offered to me. Also, I was told "its in the agreement". I suppose the next time I rent a car I can read all the bs legalese and hold up the line for an hour or two. It would be so much easier if this company was upfront and not so smary, I was back in Austin the following week. Rented from another company who not only told you toll policy but had a very clear and easy to read sign on the counter explaining it all. Guess what company I will use again??? read more

Overall pleased with EZ (which is also ADVANTAGE rental car, and that's what name you see on the directions out of airport). Rented at Austin TX Bergstrom airport. There was no line when I showed up and they found my reservation with my last name no problem (I had the confirmation number ready). I was already aware of other folks issues - ie no problem with me/my bank as far as the $200 hold they put on your card (and the agent informed me of this). Also was made aware of all standard items with a rental (ie your choice to decline extra insurance etc). Overall most complaints on here not valid - ie waiting in line 30 mins, etc, your financial institution chooses whether or not to immediately charge the 200 or hold it as pending. I used priceline to book. Would recommend. FYI all rental car desks are now across the street from the KAUS/Bergstrom terminal (no counters next to bag claim). DO a good check of the car/inspection before you get it. The agent did this with me and he was really good about catching things. There were scuffs on one side of fenders. A plastic hubcap had a bend in it. I returned the car and everything was good - no hassle from the agents looking for any damage (there wasn't any and they did a quick check as I was dropping off). read more
