Fried rice is excellent. Prices is not high waited 17 mins for my breakfast bowl. But I came at 7:15 they only had fried rice. So no choice I had to pay the extra $2.25.

Fast basic breakfast and pastries. Very causal. Our go-to breakfast spot when we stay in Volcano. Cute outdoor seating. No indoor seating. Plenty free parking. Not handicap accessible as you need to go up stairs. But I bet they would come out to take your order of needed. Please wash your hands!

Not too many spots open early or have vegetarian options. At least here we were able to get a decent veggie sandwich and hot cocoa for breakfast and portion size was generous too. Our feedback is that it would be great if they could add a toasted sandwich option and an espresso machine but whatever we tried was decent enough . Service was friendly. You need to order inside and and there are some tables outside to sit which was decent. Parking is plenty

    Easy to find.

If you want a simple and great breakfast on the Volcano side, just come here. We met a friend from the area and I was so impressed with the service and food-dang that quiche was good. My group both had the breakfast bowls and it was A LOT of food. Outdoor seating only which is perfect. A calm and relaxing breakfast with great coffee, great food and great service. Mahalo to the staff-you guys really make a great start to the day. Mahalo nui.

we got the breakfast bowl ($9.50) and lau lau plate ($16). we ordered ham for the former but received bacon instead. they were out of fried rice and it was only ~10am. we also waited really long for our food even though there was only one other customer there. the lau lau plate was pretty bare and dry

This is a hidden gem that I would recommend to anyone looking for a delicious meal. The inside is small and has standing room only. The outside is set with picnic tables as well as a few tables with chairs. They ask that you wash your hands prior to entering and openly post that they can refuse business for any reason. The Okinawa sweet potato cake was incredible and I highly recommend trying it!

We stopped in after being at the volcano national park, where we hiked at least 5 miles and we were hungry. Upon arrival, there is a sign to wash your hands before entering the ordering area (which I love). The lady explained all of their daily specials and she was very polite and nice. We ended up settling on a roast beef sandwich on sourdough and the spare ribs daily special. The sandwich was packed full of meat and the spare ribs were delicious. We also got a brownie for dessert which was a portion for 2 and it was moist and delicious. The pricing was extremely good for this area considering most places cost around $65 for two people to eat lunch and this was half of that. I loved this little place. The eating took place outside where there is seating in the sun and under cover.

One of a few places to pick up small bites or pastries fr breakfast and coffee for the ride from Vilcano back to Hilo. The hot cocoa tasted like hot water added to a packaged mix. The two others said their pastries were just okay. Unfortunately my cinnamon roll was dense and heavy like a scone. The white frosting was too sweet for me so that means sugar overload.

Dish: Breakfast Plate with Bacon, Sausage, and Eggs Rating: 7/10 (Atmosphere: 10/10) The service was incredibly sweet and kind, and the portions were generous--perfect for a hearty breakfast. We sat outside and soaked up the morning sun, which made the experience even better. Good spot before going on the 4 mile crater hike!

In the middle of small town of Volcano, they serve simply prepared foods for reasonable price. We stopped here for breakfast and I was craving rice and eggs. I poured some soy sauce over the white rice and dug into the layers of hams, bacons, eggs over hot rice. Yum! After eating lots of sandwiches and burgers, this simple plate really hit the spot. Store shelves and refrigerated showcases are neatly organized but this place is very cozy so be mindful not to overcrowd inside.

This place is located close to the national park. 'Y husband got a sandwich, while I got vegetarian chili (contains tofu) in a sourdough bread bowl Pros: decent menu, reasonable prices, vegetarian options Cons: vegetarian chili and sourdough bread are very okay and neither tasted that fresh (the sourdough wasn't sour and tasted like white bread), a little too much religious signs (I've never seen any other place like this. There are 9 signs outside alone), menu outside does not have prices, there is no bathroom Vegetarians, better to get a sandwich than the vegetarian chili

How is the Ka'u coffee they have/serve here? The real deal, or a blend?

The real deal! And only $2.00 a cup! They also have a all in one Nespresso machine. The Kau coffee is in its own pot right next to it!

The restaurant is inside the very old classic Volcano Lodge; complete with wood fireplace. Staying in the lodge made it simple to have meals; we ate at the Rim two nights, one night at the more casual Lodge restaurant Uncle Georges Lounge. All meals were prepared very well. For the first meal, we ordered a couple of Mai Tais that were nicely flavorful. For appetizers, I can recommend the Furikake Seared Ahi; gently seared with very flavorful colorful condiments. Plus, the portion was relatively generous as well. The chef's entree special was an amazing local fish prepared attractively and tasting marvelous. For our second night, the volcano was no longer erupting and the crowds of watchers had left so the meal was far less hectic. Did a less extravagant meal of Big Island Stuffed Chicken (great stuffing of Feta cheese and greens!) and it was a great choice. (I had the Seared Ahi again!) Straying from fish my partner went with the perfectly grilled 12 oz Hawaiian beef ribeye. Finished up with a fun crème brûlée with lots of burnt sugar!. Not a restaurant to drive 1-2 hours to, but if you find yourself on the mountain, well-worth stopping for a great meal here. but try to get there when the volcano isn't erupting or you'll be trampled, pushed, and find nowhere to park.

Also know you can get the similar view from the other restaurant they have literally in the room right next to this one. Well there is a sitting room in between but the same view. No pretty table clothes but the same view and the food comes from the same kitchen. Our waiter was nice and pretty timely, the food was horrible. We were a party of three and all of us had the ribeye. First off they were out of asparagus so we had wilted spinach and fennel. So overly salted and the mash potatoes, they had to come from a box!!! The bread was good but the butter was excellent, the only reason this is getting two starts was our waiter and the butter!!! Our meal for three people nothing to drink but water the three ribeyes and one dessert for our 13 year old was 229.00. I don't mind paying for dinner when it's edible but we left almost all our steak on the plates and the waiter didn't even ask why. My recommendation is have dinner at the other restaurant get the view and pay way less. If you look at my review for tonight's dinner you will see I don't leave reviews just when it's bad. We had dinner in Kona tonight at fish hopper and it was excellent service and food with an amazing view as well.

The food was tasteless and I don't appreciate when places try to get a double tip. Food options around the area are very limited, but I encourage tourists to take a chance and explore further. This place is a great convenience for people visiting Hawaii's Volcano National Parks and are starving after a long day of sightseeing. Unfortunately, I was very let down considering the great reviews it has online. This is a food truck, so as expected, the parking is extremely limited and there are only two picnic tables available if you choose to sit down and eat. The area is nice if you don't mind eating outdoors. When I went, there were only 2 people working in the truck. They were extremely nice and did warn us about waiting times. There was a long line of people so we had to wait about 25mins for our food. Honestly, this is not inherently a problem, but be ready to wait if it's busy. Now for the food and the reason I'm giving this place a low rating. I was allowed to mix the carnitas tacos and the chicken taco plate given that they're all the same price. The chicken had a nice spice to it, but every item on the dish was very bland. The rice felt dry, the refried beans felt like they were straight out of a can, and it could have all used some salt. But the big nono was that it appears they included a tip in their total before handing the machine over to you to add a tip and pay. Unless you tell me Hawaii's tax is close to 20% (which I know it's not), I find it very disrespectful when businesses do this to their customers.
