Epic doesn't even begin to cover NYE 2026 at Earls Yaletown. Last night was truly unforgettable, thanks to the What's Up Wednesday team for hosting an incredible New Year's Eve celebration. From the moment you walked in, the energy was on point. The food -- wow. When someone says hors d'oeuvres, this is exactly what they should mean. And honestly? Calling it that almost feels misleading because this was a full-on buffet experience. Plates upon plates of beautifully prepared, flavorful bites were constantly moving through the crowd. Abundant, delicious, and done right. The crowd was perfection. Everyone showed up dressed, happy, and ready to welcome the new year. The vibe was seamless -- we laughed, cheered, danced, talked, and connected effortlessly. It felt elevated, social, and fun in a way that's hard to find. This wasn't your typical party -- it was something special, and honestly, next-level. Huge shoutout to the entire team and crew who made this NYE 2026 event happen. We went with a large party for a work dinner. Gave us a very long table which is appropriate but led to people on one side not really talking to the other side. Environment is very loud. Hard to hear conversations. Food was really not very good unfortunately. I got the steak and sushi which looked amazing but the steak was tough and the sushi rice was so bad I didn't eat half of it. If you know me you know I would never leave sushi leftover unless my stomach was exploding. I didn't get a drink but the drinks looked nice. Service was great and despite the bad food we had a good time overall. I would not recommend the steak and sushi. If you end up hear probably safer to just go with a burger or something standard. read more

Disappointing evening happy hour They ran out of happy hour pizza one hour into happy hour and offered no replacement. The chicken skewers that i usually really enjoy were awful. Overfried with hardly any chicken meat. I am sure u usually get four pieces. I Don't usually come to this location and i wont be in a hurry to come back. Our server was dissapointing too... I'm sad to say. This was my last time at Earls. After many years of being an Earls customer I will no longer walk through their door....here's why.... No Value. No value whatsoever. At all. You get peanuts for the the price of a lobster dinner. Their service is great. The atmosphere is great, but their prices are bizarre. 20 bucks for hot wings. Yeah...$20...and there was probably around 10 wings...making it 2 bucks per wing....I don't know maybe that chicken went to private school...who knows. Side of Fries....14 bucks. Could've gotten the same fries at my local fast food for 4 bucks. I'm not gonna bore you...long story short....small fries, some hot wings and two beers...$65. Left the place hungry. The food just doesn't measure up. It falls short. The quantity and the quality. You wanna charge premium....you gotta give premium. My friend and I were eating and drinking and enjoying the game and were suddenly rushed out as soon as we hit the 2 hour time limit. In my reservation notes, I mentioned we were coming to watch the game. We also had ordered 3 - 4 drinks each and meals and appy's and hadn't even finished our last drinks and didn't get to order desert or watch the end of the World Series game because the manager enforced the 2 hour time limit. There were available tables and booths and no line up at the restaurant. I frequently go to restaurants to watch sports games and as long as I'm ordering nobody has ever enforced the 2 hour limit because they have good judgment, business sense and care about loyal customers. I will not be choosing Earls in future. Terrible experience and ruined the World Series baseball game for me. read more

I was surprised to see the three and below star reviews after our experience today. Had I seen it, sadly, I probably would not have considered coming here. Soooo glad I didn't see the reviews first. First, let me say it was hot, we just flew in from Los Angeles, I didn't sleep the night before, and we had been walking for about 30 minutes. Not a great combo, but we were all (mostly) in a good mood and all of us were hungry. We were actually headed to a different restaurant across the street from Earls, but it happened to be closed. Yelp said it was open. Oops. So we wandered over to Earls - people seemed to be enjoying themselves, the menu had a lot of options, and we really wanted to get off our feet. We came for dinner around 5PM. Fairly busy but no wait time at all. I started with their strawberry guava slush cocktail. Definitely what I needed to cool off. Oh, and plenty of water. All the staff greeted us so friendly. We asked our server for recommendations. Haley was spot on with every recommendation for us. We started with the seafood sampler plate. Crazy delish. The ahi tuna was buttery and the crispy onions added such a nice sweet compliment. I even tried the oysters (still not a fan, but these didn't make me gag - that's actually a huge compliment from me on oysters). I came here with my husband and twin 22 year old sons - I was barely able to grab one of the shrimps. Again, not really a fan of shrimp or lobster and both were crazy delicious. Would definitely get this again. It was around this time that one large group sitting in the dining room where we were started to get really loud - the guy was literally howling and making barking noises. Who does that at a restaurant??? It did get a lot louder from there. So, I guess that would be my only negative comment here (at least to me) is the restaurant, while quite lovely in decor, has kind of a loud bar feel to it. I'm sure it's fun for many, just not what I would look for. Still, not enough for me to bump this down to 4 stars. For the main course we ordered the ahi tuna bowls, my one son got a chicken noodle dish (don't remember what it was called), and my other son told Haley to pick his meal (he does that a lot when we travel). Haley asked a couple of questions as to dietary restrictions or allergies, and based on our earlier conversation when she introduced herself, knew that my son is headed to the Navy. Armed with this information she aced it again - brought him a BBQ Chicken and Ribs plate with a slaw and potato salad that was outstanding. The ribs juicy and flavorful. The potato salad was amazing. I didn't try his chicken. My son LOVES ribs so that could not have been a better selection. To close out, we tried the key lime pie, white chocolate crème brûlée, and the butter toffee chocolate desert. I loved the key lime. I had a fun night here with some coworkers. The service was great; our waiter (I think Connor, but I could be totally off) was very friendly and let us hang around as long as we wanted after we finished our food, and the food and drinks came in a timely manner after we ordered. For drinks, I had a passion fruit chili margarita, which was delicious and just strong enough, more fruity than spicy. I ordered the angry tofu lettuce wraps as my main course. This could work as a very light meal or an appetizer. The wraps were tasty and the lettuce was very fresh and crisp. There wasn't too much sauce, so they weren't messy to eat, but there was enough that the wraps weren't dry. I had some of the warm spinach + three cheese dip that someone else at my table ordered. This is highly recommended by me; the dip was rich and very herby and the toasted bread slices that were served with it were also really high quality. They should either increase the portion of dip or decrease the amount of bread - two plates of this were ordered at the table and the dip ran out before the bread on both - there was a LOT of bread. I had the caramelized vanilla cheesecake for dessert, also very good. I thought the presentation of this was clever - the cheesecake, cream and berries, and florentine cookie were all complex enough to enjoy alone, but it was also fun to use the cookie to scrape off cheesecake and top with cream and berry compote. The prices don't look cheap, but the portions are mostly very generous and it's very good food. Compared to many other restaurants serving food of this quality, the quantity per dollar spent is a bit higher. Also worth noting that they have a great vegan section of the menu. This is the second Earls I've been to and the second good experience - as far as large chains go, this place is pretty classy and I would be happy to eat here (or at a different Earls location) again. read more

Happy hour wasn't very happy! We were thrilled to learn that Earls went back to their old happy hour hours of 3 to 6 PM. However, in doing that, they also (in their infinite wisdom) decided to get rid of some of our favourites on the menu, specifically the sushi tacos. There's hardly any decent Appetizers on the happy hour menu now. We found it really disappointing. Service was good though (even our server told us other people had complained about the missing menu items). I'm not sure when (or if) we will be back, which is sad considering we live very close to the Yaletown Earls. :( read more

we came for the late night happy hour at earls in yaletown on a friday night, from 10:00 pm to closing (1:00 am). the place was loud and buzzing with a young, attractive and trendy crowd. it was a fun, casual night out with some friends. the music was blaring, making it difficult at times to carry on a conversation. i like that they have many cocktails available for their happy hour to choose from. the watermelon slush was the perfect summer thirst quencher with blended ice. my partner had a sip of his beer and found a glass shard in his drink, and this was quickly replaced. we were not hungry, but shared the truffle fries, with parmesan, and truffle aioli dip, the tropic thunder pizza (ham and pineapple), and the salt and pepper chicken wings. my drinks were taken away twice, before it was empty, without my notice. i like to leave the last bits of the drink to melt. read more

I'm not sure what it is about Earls Yaletown, but every visit seems to be a service disaster compared to my experiences at Brentwood or Test Kitchen on Seymour. While I frequent all three locations weekly with friends, Yaletown consistently underperforms, especially with long waits and incorrect orders. At Yaletown, my prawn omelette order is always mistaken for the prawn benny. Unlike Brentwood and Test Kitchen, where staff reliably confirm orders, Yaletown struggles to close the loop. For example, last Sunday, it took 18 minutes for someone to take our coffee order. After asking twice, coffee finally arrived--after another delay--and, predictably, my order was wrong. Though they remade it, it took over 10 minutes, and by then, my table had almost finished eating. The server apologized, but the underlying issue seems to be poor management and kitchen coordination. Update: January 19 Visit Today, I waited 18 minutes before being offered coffee. While our server Kirsten was delightful, communication and back-of-house operations were chaotic. After asking four times for ketchup, I received only one, while my husband got none. Another guest requested jam, was told it was coming, and waited the entire meal--only to never receive it. Missing toast from one entrée required multiple reminders to both the maitre d' and Kirsten. When the food finally arrived, it was barely warm, and the shrimp in my omelette was overcooked to the point of being dry and rubbery. It was clear dishes had been sitting on the pass for too long. Despite being just a block from my home, I won't return to this location. I work hard for my money and expect better. Brentwood and Test Kitchen remain excellent, but Yaletown is a disappointment I can no longer justify. read more

Took my mother out to this Earl's for a thank you lunch two Fridays ago. She loved the interior design, as with a number of Yaletown restaurants, the exposed brick and beam is a total crowd pleaser. We sat in a raised booth by the window, wonderful amount of room for two people to chat, table itself was large and didn't cramp our ordering style. We shared a number of dishes. The Truffles Fries are down right decadent; honestly the amount of Grana Padano shaved onto the pile of perfectly cooked fries was basically a Hallmark Christmas movie. The Angry Chicken Lettuce Wraps were heavy on the protein but the sauce wasn't very Angry, it was maybe of a Perturbed level of heat. We shared the Vegan Bangkok bowl which was really good as well but perhaps could have had a sauce on it that brought all the elements together in a better harmony. Service was great and friendly, decent mini conversations that seemed genuine enough. We did have to ask multiple times for little things to be brought to the table; lemons for water, chopsticks for the bowl. No biggie though since we were not in a hurry, just casually catching up. Price is a smidge more than what you might want to pay, but that's a basic surcharge you feel at every establishment in Yaletown. read more

Our friend was hungry after he arrived probably closer to 9pm so we stopped by here since we were in the area. The wait around 9pm was probably 20-30 minutes on a Sunday. There were a lot of people here and this place was dark. It was loud with the music and everybody talking so it was a little difficult to hear our waitress. I already ate dinner before coming here but my friend didn't. I decided to just order the S'mores Chocolate Cheesecake (CA$9.25) for dessert while my friend ordered the Bigger Better Burger (CA$16) and a Mango Classic Margarita (CA$7.50). The drink took a while to come out and the food was even slower. The Bigger Better Burger and Mango Classic Margarita both looked good to me; however, I only tasted the Mango Classic Margarita which was not bad. The S'mores Chocolate Cheesecake was okay and the marshmallows were burnt which made the marshmallow taste bad to me. There was a lot of chocolate so definitely great for chocolate lovers. What an awesome experience. Came here for Brunch on monday after a long weekend. Our group was greeted by Elit and he was so kind and accomodating, came to check on us multiple times during our meal. Kiara was our waitress. She did the impossible of customer service. She was kind, helpful, efficient, happy. Every suggestion she gave in terms of food or beverage choices was top notch. the food was fantstic. I got the surf and turf with Steak and prawns and pave potatoes - It was the best meal ive had in years, genuinely. I never felt pressured or rushed. The vibe was amazing and I cant recommend this place enough. Inclusive to vegan/veg eaters. The decor was also really beautiful and classy. I said that was not the issues i was asking about them converting the money, he no they did not, and I said they should have that posted somewhere so when people came to their restaurant they would know in advance. He told me that I should have exchanged my money before i came to the restaurant. Your speaking to someone that choose to come to your restaurant and i had spent over 100.00 US dollars, you just made 30.00 on the exchange when you take the money to the bank. I don't drink. It's not because I have a problem with or an ideological disagreement against drinking, I never drink hard liquor, but I occasionally enjoy a glass of wine. Since almost everyone I know does drink, though, I tend to spend a good amount of time in bars. When I'm there, I drink virgin drinks, which is usually all I drink anyway. While most of the time there's no problem, occasionally, I'll receive an attitude from the bartender when I order. Yesterday, after a big fat dinner with my friends, we decided to go to Earls at Yaletown to have light drink and desserts. Now, I don't want to be petty and name names, so let's just say the bar tender. Since the actual bar section was not too crowded and there was not a lineup at the door, I was surprised to get an annoying attitude from the bartender after asking for a non-alcoholic drink menu; the bartender angrily grunted and ignored me. Now, I always tip, even on refills. I even overtip to stave off any potential aggravation on bartenders' end. Obviously, a couple bucks isn't a big deal to a bartender, but they're still doing a service for me and I understand that I'm spending less than someone who's drinking. But I still don't think I should feel like an asshole when I'm not doing anything wrong. Besides, they don't know me -- what if I'm in recovery? Pregnant? Or a designated driver? Or deathly allergic to Fireball? Well, instead of getting a menu, the manager came and asked me to leave if I was not going to order alcohol, this is while my friend was enjoying her cosmo! Well, at this point, it was the rebellion in me not to order anything contain alcohol, and I told the manager even thinking of a drop of alcohol makes me sick. Still, voila, my friend has one, and I should be able to enjoy a non-alcoholic drink or order whatever I wish and enjoy my company! Surprisingly not only did we not get the service we deserved, but we faced the bouncer, who explained to us this is where the bar makes money, and you have to leave if you are not drinking alcohol! I can not still get my head around this! Since it's my first experience as such, I am putting the word out... Shouldn't we be allowed to order whatever we want? Or be given a chance by the bartender to leave them very handsome tips? The location of this restaurant is definitely prime. On the historic streets of Yale town, mainland really makes you feel as though you're part of a Hollywood Movie scene. They have a very nice patio, a great indoor space and an upper level as well. This Earls is a nice place to go during happy hour; which is what I did. They have an extensive happy hour menu with awesome prices. A must try is the street chicken tacos which comes with four tacos at a great price. It comes with cubed up chicken spiced nicely with some fresh cabbage and a squeeze of fresh lime on top. The dry ribs are a bit of a smaller portion but still very satisfying. The margarita pizza is only 8 inches but if you like a cheese pizza that's a bit more fancy than I would recommend for you to try it. The garlic fries are out of this world, not only do they come with garlic grated on top of them but they also have a yummy side sauce. They have a bunch of different items from entrées to appetizers on their happy hour menu with a variety of drinks. It's a really nice spot to get together with coworkers or friends after a long day at work and just relax, have a bunch of different foods to munch on and kick back with friends on the patio. Not impressed. Have tried this place multiple times and each time I leave disappointed. The wait staff is friendly but the food is just lacking. Today we ordered steak frites with the truffle butter upgrade instead of the standard garlic butter, my partner ordered a burger with a truffle fry upgrade. The steak was cooked fine at the right temperature but it was so bland. The truffle butter did not even have a smidgen of truffle to it. My partners burger was dry and I would recommend skipping the truffle fry upgrade. The fries are deceiving, they come dusted in black pepper which make it look like truffle but it's only the aioli that has truffle oil and the pepper overpowered the truffle. The previous visit I ordered the tacos and my tortillas came out so crispy I thought I ordered tostada. I asked the waitress if that was normal and she said it was not and sent it back to the kitchen. Each visit we leave wishing we had gone else where. There are much better restaurants in the area.
