    Meat Lover's Sandwich
    Nicolas P.

I came in and ordered the breakfast sandwich special for the weekend, the Meat Lover's Sandwich. It was egg, cheese, bacon, and sausage. It was an excellent sandwich, the flavors were all perfect. Only complaint would be that they seem to make them ahead and keep them wrapped in the oven, but because of that my biscuit was a little soggy when I got my sandwich. I also got a decaf Americano and it was great! I also really appreciated that the barista confirmed it was decaf when she handed it to me so I didn't have to ask or wonder if I was given caffeine. It's the small things! Would love to come back and try some of their other biscuit sandwiches!

Such a retro cozy space. It's all about biscuits here. They are freshly made and you can get build your own biscuit sandwiches or add whatever on top of their menu. The biscuits are fluffy and buttery. So much better than those fast food places! Unfortunately dogs are not allowed inside so I had to park my steed outside and order to go. They brought my order out to me while we waited outside. So nice.

What a cute place! This came recommended and for good reason. The biscuits are terrific. But we got a sausage egg and cheese one and it was mouth watering delicious. Fell apart a bit but that's what you expect with a biscuit. We also got some coffee. Fresh and strong. Just the way it should be. The interior is a throwback and we liked sitting at one of the tables outside. Friendly service. A winner.

Was in town for annual brewery trip with my buddies. Stopped here for breakfast and this place is amazing! One of the best, if not the best biscuit sandwich I've ever had in my life. The owner was behind the counter and suggested the off menu choice of the chicken biscuit with a side of sawmill gravy. I can't recommend this enough. Tried one of their pastries as well and it was outstanding. So good that this place is Stevie K Certified Legit af!

Super friendly staff with lots of smiles, really cute shop with a smell of deliciousness right when I walked in. My biscuit is huge, so flavorful, light and buttery! My cappuccino is perfect! Excellent local breakfast/lunch spot! Thanks for the fabulous experience!!

Biscuits taste delicious and are freshly baked! Really good, nice service and a good vibe in the store. Very small space, so probably best for take out. I got the seasonal malted vanilla latte and it was one of the best I've had in awhile. My one negative was that the sandwiches don't come with egg! Feels like it's missing something!

High energy spot with some reliable breakfast! Being in the south, it's essential to find a place with a good biscuit - glad to know that Early Bird Biscuit Company provides just that! Was super cheap but tasted nothing of the sort - loved the hashbrown on my sandwich, literally every breakfast sandwich deserves a potato. All they need is more seating and they'd be golden :)

I loved that the biscuit were perfect squares and I could tell this was an old fashioned recipe. they offer sand with the biscuits or a simple homemade jam. the restaurant is cozy but wonderful to relax if you get there in time. they close around 2 so this spot is definitely a treasure to the neighborhood. Richmond has so awesome coffee spot no exception here.

Holy sweet biscuit these babies were unbridled buttery, crumbly deliciousness. Their egg and cheese biscuit is a filling sandwich that gives you wonderful flavors the whole gobble through. It's pretty packed in the actual cafe, so I'd take this one to-go as you explore the very cute neighborhoods nearby. If you do not make time to get a biscuit sandwich from here when you're in Richmond, you are living life wrong!

I cant recommend this place enough. I've been going for years, and finally remembered to take a pic of my biscuit before devouring it, so I'm going o utilize this moment to finally remember to review this wonderful little spot! This is gem will remind you of the the small bakery you see in a Hallmark movie. The staff is so friendly, usually the same people, they learn your name, they know what you like, they've got a spot for your dog to sit while you run in and grab your goodies. It's just all around one of the best little places in the Fan neighborhood. They keep it fresh & exciting by offering a completely different rotating savory or sweet biscuit everyday on their special menu, along with other fun pastries & themed goodies, and then have a regular menu too with coffees, breakfast sandwiches galore. I'm a savory biscuit girlie, so can't speak on the sweet biscuits, but the savory are always fun, well-seasoned & amazing, and other sweets I've tried, like brownies, cookies etc were so scrumptious! My fav savory biscuits thus far have been: Cheddar Bay, Jack & Ranch, Pimento Cheese and Queso Fresco!

    The store is quaint

I've been twice now and the biscuits are enormous and scrumptious. Just plain lovely. Egg is fluffy. You can get Virginia country ham on it...or...vegan sausage. Both are great. So many choices of toppings like pimento cheese. So good...go!!!

While in town from Houston for a wedding, I had a bit of free time to grab something yummy for breakfast. When a biscuit company comes us suggested by yelp figured why the heck not. So glad I decided to venture over. I asked the gentleman serving what he recommended as I was only in town for a day and didn't want to get something that wasn't that great. He suggested the biscuits and gravy. So glad that I did. The biscuit was a decent size and not too dry which a lot of places mess up. He also suggest I ordered the jams with an extra biscuit. I figured why not. So glad that I did. I wanted to lick up the extra. Great job on the mango which I wasn't expecting since not many places can master than one. The homemade pop tarts are apparently an item they are known for. I understand why. I almost forgot this in my bag traveling the next day but decided to try eating after I beat up some. Oops. But still soooo good and forth it. The cost overall wasn't bad. Super simple and to the point place. The dining room tables inside are still closed. I had forgotten that people still don't eat inside all places here like in Texas. Over even to go I would come back again while in town even if it was just to grab a pop tart.

Can you get an egg and cheese biscuit for those of us who can't eat meat?

    We ALWAYS offer that option.

The Egg Silsi is like a perfectly mild Shakshuka, and the Kinche and FirFir along with made for a wonderful infusion of flavors, textures, and savory spices that were unlike anything I have ever had for breakfast before. Coffee/tea options? Two thumbs up. Food? Outstanding. Seriously, I loved it from start to finish. I showed up on a Tuesday morning with my laptop and an empty stomach. There's lots of seating inside (with great natural light throughout, it's just such a warm, cozy space), and a few tables outside as well. I ordered the Keshir team (ginger, orange juice, and honey), which totally hit the spot. I could not resist the breakfast combo, which comes with egg silsi (scrambled eggs in tomato sauce with onion), kinche (bulgur cooked and tossed with yellow onion and clarified butter and topped with jalapenos), firfir (injera sauteed in a spicy tomato sauce), and injera. I SCRAPED the plate. Everything was delicious. Just thinking about it now, I wish there was a Buna Kurs in Baltimore, so I could eat this for breakfast once a week. One of the best breakfasts I've had this year. No joke. I love Ethiopian food, and I am so jealous that Richmond has an Ethiopian cafe. Ethiopian for breakfast?! A dream. It doesn't hurt that the service and ambiance are also great. Easy street parking to boot. A great place to work. The only thing that I'd recommend to them is that a few more outlets to charge laptops or phones would be nice - so that people can work from the cafe more easily! But otherwise, Buna Kurs is pretty much perfect in my view. Dream breakfast. Great cafe. Couldn't love it more.

Upon entering, I was reminded of a 1950s pharmacy by the humongous "Prescriptions" sign hanging above the bar, and the antique furniture, bar, and barstools splayed throughout Tarrant's. There was a solid crowd at the bar; it's clear there is a regular crowd that sits and hangs out here. We were promptly seated by a young blonde woman in the dining section (behind the bar). Our server, Nadia, was an enchanting brunette, training another young server, Sierra. She took our drink orders and gave us plenty of time to review the menu, checking in after a few minutes to see if we were ready. We finally decided, my partner ordered the 10" Bianca White (pizza), and I chose the Sailor Sandwich. Unfortunately, the sailor was not in the cards for me, and Nadia suggested the Reuben as they were similar. They brought out breadsticks while we waited, and the food arrived within 10-15 minutes. I was pleased with the atmosphere, the old-fashioned chandeliers, the large mirror, the floral paintings, and the rustic frames, all of which added to the restaurant's stated aesthetic. The pizza was hot and savory, while the Reuben had buttery toast, crispy corned beef, and a light smattering of sauerkraut (TBH, I didn't even notice the sauerkraut). For dessert, we indulged in the upside-down walnut apple pie, served with vanilla ice cream, all made from scratch, and beautifully delicate. Our time at Tarrant's Cafe seemed like a stroll into the past; the only indication of modernity was the ordering kiosk used by the staff. We truly enjoyed our time and had deeply meaningful conversations without enduring the hustle and bustle or the rowdy cacophony of an intense crowd.
