I love a gooey sourdough-like bagel. Brookland Park is one of my fave neighborhoods. It's fun to sit at a seat by the window and people watch from Julio's. They also have a cute parklet to sit at outside. The menu is very simple and they have a few options to pick from. I really love their plain bagel. I've tried it with their egg and cheddar cheese and added sausage which I adored. I also tried it a separate time with cream cheese and enjoyed it a lot. If you're here on a weekend, you'll want to come on the earlier side because the line can go out the door. However, things move relatively quickly. The woman who has helped me at the counter each time was extremely sweet. I like that they have Recluse Coffee here. Last time I got a latte and it was divine. On my first visit, I got an alfajor and I have to admit while I haven't found one that reminds me of my faves growing up, it was the best I've had in a long time. A friend of mine got the lox bagel and really liked it. For a Richmond bagel shop, I'd recommend checking this local gem out. read more

I'm in love with the lox bagels at Julio's!! Their bagels taste so fresh and they don't skimp out on the everything season. Their coffee is so good since they get their beans local from Recluse. They have a few seats inside by the windows and outside, but I usually just take out. Definitely my go-to bagel place when I have a free morning! read more

I really really really wanted to love this place, but it fell slightly short of what I was expecting . I absolutely love the addition of a new breakfast/coffee spot on Brookland Park Blvd. but this wasn't my favorite bagel sandwich so my search for best bagel sandwich in Richmond continues. I ordered my bagel ahead of time on their website which was very easy to use and ready when expected. I ordered a small iced vanilla latte at the counter. The staff were friendly and the inside of the shop is very cute. The bagel was good and all ingredients were fresh, it just didn't hit like I wanted it to. The latte was great! Would definitely come back for another coffee. Next time I'd like to try a bagel with their jalapeño cream cheese. Overall the bagel was good, not bad by any means. A small latte and bagel sandwich ran me about $21. There is plenty of street parking, and outdoor seating. I'll definitely be back to give the food another try! read more

Love that Northside has a bagel shop. It's still fairly new and has a healthy customer base. Only a few seats inside for enjoying your bagel and coffee. Most take theirs to go. Lots of standing around inside waiting in line. Sometimes outside, too depending on when you go. Try to go before 10 to avoid the line on weekends. My sausage, egg and cheese on everything was good enough, but didn't blow me away. read more

Let the bagels do the talking! They had me at naturally leavened, but I keep coming back for the consistency. I swear, whatever they're doing to the bagels in the back, it's how it should be done. Once you hit a certain age, things hit your belly differently. I'm happy to say these bagels don't skimp on flavor at ALL and the fact that they don't leave my belly hungover & bloating is with me driving 1/2 way across town every day for the last 3 1/2 weeks! Highly recommend the everything bagel with butter & egg. Waiting to try b the vegan sausage once that comes in. I'd love to see them have more vegan products made from non-soy and other non wheat gluten products. Fingers crossed. Either way, you'll see me here. read more

Perhaps my experience here was enhanced by the sheer excitement of having a new bagel spot in-town, and also the fact that they marketed SUPER WELL as evidenced by the fact that the line was out the door and around the corner. I personally thought it was fairly delicious, although I could have done with a bit less aggressive of garnish on my lox bagel. Wish there was more seating inside but it's so modern and pretty inside - very artsy and appealing. Friendly yet efficient staff as well. Coffee is delicious and I love the logo! Quite honestly, Northside is better with Julio's there and I am stoked to go there again sometime soon! read more

The atmosphere and location of Julios Bagels is amazing. I love the green tile decor and the overall vibe of shop. They have four options of fresh hot bagels : plain, salt, everything, and sesame seed. I got the plain bagel with plain cream cheese and I have to say it was very difficult to eat. This bagel shop is different because all of their bagels are naturally leavened, but i felt that they were extremely chewing and tasteless. The cream cheese was good and creamy, when is cream cheese not? I did like the espresso lemonade slushy though. I thought it was an interesting flavor combo that worked. I also love the neighborhood they were located. Brookland park is so cute and there are greats shops to walk around to. I don't think I will be back for a bagel, but I might be back for the espresso lemonade slushy. read more

I felt like it was in New York because it was a massive line of people waiting for their bagels and to order You know how you have upon all those lines go. I really have been excited to try the bagels here. Today was the day. Upon entrance they had a nice green calm feeling. I expected to pay a little more for the niche business they have. I ordered some salt and everything bagels. And an order of the herb cream cheese. I will say I was disappointed in the bagels. They were very small and both were hard to cut into. Maybe that is what they are going for or how they are cooked. Both tasted really good. The cream cheese spread was really good. From reading the reviews like mine. Maybe the owner will start making bigger softer bagels. I'll wait a few months before going back for a bagel. Will buy some spreads. read more

We got a gift card for Julio's from our Airbnb host so we ventured here one morning. The shop is fairly small so we walked in and they told us to wait outside. There was a woman crying and screaming on their outdoor furniture and it was really sad. One of my friends gave her some cash and she walked away. It was a hot day when we visited and even when we got inside it wasn't much relief. It was pretty hot in there, I was wondering how the baristas were holding up. we got the BEC and sausage egg and cheese to go. My friends got a vanilla latte that had a weird flavor. We think it was sweetened with date syrup. I liked the bacon egg and cheese more than the sausage but tbh I didn't love either of them. The egg was slightly rubbery which is always a make or break for a breakfast sandwich for me. The bagel itself was good. I'd go back and just get a bagel and cream cheese next time. read more

I was expecting this to be a hole in the wall with some really authentic delicious New York style bagels. Instead, when I walked in, it was a little more bougie. It seems as if it had been redone a rebranded into something new that was more artisanal coffee with an accessory of bagels. Fine we gave it a chance. The people in the staff were incredibly an extraordinarily nice. Awesome vibe. There's not a lot of seating room. The bagels themselves were OK. Honestly I think chewy's is a little bit better. There's only about four bagel flavors and they don't offer any special types like adding egg or smoked salmon on it. The cream cheese are very good. Overall, I would say that if you want a coffee and a bagel, I just want a chill morning breakfast type thing it's a good place. But it's not gonna blow your mind. read more

Nice drink menu and the bagels are warm and perfectly toasted and fluffy - the sesame bagel was perfect but the herb cream cheese has a wild amount of dill in it, so it sort of just tastes like a pickle. I would absolutely return but go for a different cream cheese. Street parking may be hard to find. Prices are cheaper than chains so come here! read more

I like the food but not the price point. 2 bagels with lox and cream cheese and 2 lattes costs $41.99. I really wish this was closer to $35. A couple of people waited in line line in front of me and left once the got to the counter and saw the prices. There aren't many places to eat there, so unless it is a weekday, you will probably have to take your food to go. Also, the bagels are served open-face so most of the capers and onions fall off before they get eaten. Maybe the capers could get embedded in the cream cheese under the lox? I live two blocks from this restaurant and wish I could eat here every day, but it is just too expensive. We will continue to come here in the future but may have to drink our coffee at home. read more

Cute little place that just opened in Brooklyn Park. Great coffee from Recluse, who are local to Richmond roasters. They have the best gluten free bagel I have had since going GF 5 years ago. chewy bouncy deliciously seasoned bagels. I'm from New England and these are the best I've had in Richmond. Plus, their shop is SO CUTE.

We were there at 11am on a Thursday and they were out of bagels. I'm glad their business is doing so well but clearly they need to do a better job of assessing supply and demand. The prices are very high! We got two 8 ounce iced coffees and one cardamom bun and it was $17. The coffees and pastry were yummy! It seems like the business is doing very well but it also seems like they should be mindful of their pricing based on the demographic of the community. It would be nice for a place with from-scratch and whole ingredients to be at a price point the neighbors could afford. read more

Went to Julio's today with family. We bought bagels and coffee. I had an everything bagel with herb cream cheese. DELICIOUS! My family members had the breakfast bagels and throughly enjoyed them. The coffee was excellent, especially my iced latte. Will definitely be back again soon. read more
