At the end of our paid consultation, I shared that I would do my homework and follow up. When I shared via email that I was seeing quite a bit of pricing variance online, East Bay Hearing immediately dropped the price from $7K to $5K. When I did further online research, and shared screenshots documenting that the Oticon Intent 1 was available for $3399 one place and $4445 at another place, they said they would try to price match. They later communicated they could not go lower than $5000. If they had been willing to improve their pricing even a little (to, say, $4800), as a sign of good faith, we would have likely gone with them (their location and service was appealing to us) but their hard line stance on the $5K (coupled with the fact their original quote of $7K was nearly 30% higher than their second quote of $5K - which they offered up as soon as I shared my benchmarks, suggesting they're regularly overcharging folks who are not skilled at online price benchmarking), turned me off.

Would have been nice to know if and when new patients are accepted. I reached out to a specialty office for a speciality service - based on their website/Yelp/Google that's what they offer. If I wanted to utilize Insurance through my Primary Care Doc that's the route I would have taken. I love supporting local businesses over huge corporations, and would have been happy paying out of pocket for services as it relates to my ear health. Good price and like that they are rechargeable but I was disappointed that I could not pair with my android tablet like i could with my previous hearing aids. I can connect to my personal Android phone and work iPhone at least. Have the transmitter for TV and I like that I can control from my phone. As far as service mixed feelings. Some hearing aid centers make me schedule an appointment just to get new domes and wax guards while others reluctantly provide the service after a wait. Still waiting to hear from San Leandro Costco about what wax guards I can but to fit my Rexton hearing aids. Lots of brands on Amazon but don't know which will work with my hearing aids. I will say that the Livermore Costco Hearing Aid Center has been the most accommodating. Not perfect but better that all the others.

Each time (and there were several), Wahiba gladly assisted me in any way she could; I was treated with kindness and respect every time. On one occasion, she even called Costco's technical support to address an issue I had. The rest of the staff is excellent too. If you have to leave a message, you will get a call back. Hearing aid cleanings can be done while you shop.
