Well later that night (yesterday Jan 27) that card was used on doordash and then SHEIN this morning at 9am. Either my waitress or someone else that worked there stole my card information. The lassi come home is essentially an alcoholic mango lassi and honestly very dangerous because I could just keep drinking this. The royal charter intrigued me because it had chai syrup, and it does not disappoint. Would not hesitate to recommend either of these, and I think you can't go wrong with any of their drinks here. Six years ago we had visited our SIL and BIL when they first moved out to the bay and they took us to EBSC. It was the middle of the day and we were the only ones inside which was awesome! Mmmm will not be going back. The first time we came, they got our order super wrong, but everything was good and it was our first time so we forgave it. This was our second time coming - it was a group and we did come after a concert, so expected a little bit of a wait. Between all of us, we ordered 4 drinks and 2 entrees. A couple of our drinks came out, but it took 45 minutes for someone to tell us they were out of one of the entree items, and I didn't get my cocktail until shortly after that when my partner went up to the bar and mentioned it. This was also after a waiter came over with drinks and one of them was one I ordered (which I told him), and he then went and gave the drinks to another table and did not come back. We stopped here for some food before a show at Freight & Salvage. It was early in the evening, and our server/bartender Harrison was manning the bar and waiting tables both upstairs and downstairs. Chicken curry is my comfort food, so when I moved to Berkeley this restaurant became my go to for ordering curry after difficult finals or days. I've tried the chicken tikka masala, tikka masala flatbread, and tandoori street tacos here. This restaurant is very flavorful and unique! A friend and I stopped by recently. Parking is hit or miss in this area but not impossible. There is no service, you just order using their mobile system and they deliver the items to you. This was odd because it made it difficult to ask any questions or inquire about ingredients. You had to almost beg one of the staff to talk to you. We wound up leaving after our first drink because things felt very dry and awkward. Nothing about our drinks was special. In the past, (pre pandemic) I've had really great service and great drinks with yummy food here. Even once post pandemic, I sat outside and had decent drinks and service. It's like walking into a speakeasy fit for the streets of Nob Hill whilst inexplicably directly across the street from the bustling campus. If you get a seat on the small upper floor, you can take in the scene below you with the high open ceilings - best spot in the house. This was my first time here since covid began, and while I used to love it, the food is no longer what it used to be. Veggie Masala: 75% of the meal was rice and the rest was just boiled veggies. The "sauce" it came with had no flavor, it literally tasted like they poured in the water they used to boil the vegetables. The naan was the only part of this meal I actually enjoyed. Drink: while the food was horrible, they still have great drinks. The mango daddy was sweet, but didn't completely mask the mezcal taste, which I appreciate. Overall I wouldn't recommend coming here for food. My friend got the chicken misala and also complained about the lack of flavor, so it's not just the veggie dishes. The signature cocktails are so fun, and the ordering system is easy! For a casual, low key place to hang out for drinks with friends, this bar is a wonderful spot to spend time near the UCB campus. First impressions: the establishment has a tall, impressive bar, relaxed atmosphere, and aesthetic design. There's also a decent amount of seating; I went on a Saturday evening around 6pm and found a table upstairs immediately. As for drinks, they had a number of classic cocktails, but I opted for their Lassie Come Home - a signature take on an alcoholic mango lassi. Was it as amazing as it sounds? Yes, absolutely. The drink was sweet, creamy, and certainly hit the spot. Later in the evening, I opted for The Beach House, which was a sweet, floral, light concoction that had a beautiful pink color. My drinking buddy was in love with the tacos and the samosas; she wanted to go back just for the food... Which we've actually done a few times. (Feels weird, but hey, live your best life, man). The cocktails are no joke either--dangerously delicious and worth every penny with their creativity, presentation, and tipsy-inducing factor. Seating is a little bit awkward in terms of how much space you're given if you're not at the bar or don't snag a table. You're pretty much left with a weird shelf on the wall that barely allows for any food. It's doable, but a little funky starting out. Upstairs gets a little better with seating and possibility for a nice conversation... But you know.... the person that gets you drunk is downstairs, so pick your poison. My recommendation would probably be the tacos for your food. They're pretty much $6 for a single taco, but they're damn good. You want something to drink to go with it? Their dealer's choice here is my absolute favorite dealer's choice. Depending on the day, you might get some simple drink or something fun (depending on your tenders available, to which i recommend Thursday). I've gotten everything from whiskey on the rocks (boooooooo, c'mon man) to a spicy mezcal to a tiki drink pretty much.
