I'm not an expert on Chinese cuisine, but I know what I like. My family has been going to East Chinese for many years, and it never disappoints. Parking is plentiful and shared with other merchants in the Summit Square Shopping Center. The restaurant's dining area is very Subway-esque with its curved laminated booths. The booths are more for sitting while waiting on your take-out order. I don't think I've ever seen anyone dine-in. East China's lunch specials are a GREAT value, and their non-lunch meals are fairly priced too. I usually order a quart of their Kung Pao chicken which comes with rice and then make it last for at least 2 meals or share with someone else at home. The Kung Pao Chicken is loaded with fresh vegetables, which make it stand out from other competitors. Portion size is huge! I highly recommend placing your next Chinese take-out order here and see for yourself. read more

My son ordered orange chicken with chicken fried rice and found shrimp his rice and that my son is allergic to shrimp. I called the manger to tell her about it she hung up so I went to the store she told me it was not shrimp in the rice I told her my son took it out and was goi g to eat but changed his mind. When I was taking to the manager she referenced that I put the shrimp in my son's rice knowing that I just told her he is allergic. She was rude about the situation and disrespectful to say I would try to kill my son. read more

Visited Winston Salem for unfortunate family gathering (funeral) needed to eat after a long day nearly after hours. This little spot was open. The people are so kind and friendly. The place is clean and not fancy - but has seating if you would like to eat in. The Hunan is amazing (on point), the fried rice tasty just not your typical Chinese fried rice (I expected) and their shrimp rolls were a little mushy inside. This is my favorite Chinese food spot near me. Customer service is great. Attentive and friendly warm environment. I have always gotten my order right the first time. Once you build a rapport with them, they remember certain things you like and may not like. For example, I dont like unions or celery. Sometimes I forget to say it, yet they remember and ask me "no onions, no celery" and I reply that's correct, thank you. I highly recommend trying their delicious food. read more

I have to say, this was a profoundly disappointing meal. There were only two highlights in the whole experience: the flavor and crispy texture of the chicken with lo mein and the pork egg roll. The dish I got was Mongolian beef. To start with, it was nothing but onions and a few dried (inedible) chilis. As you can see from my picture, it is mostly white and green onions. There were some bamboo shoots in there, but not that many, and they had been cooked too long, as they were as soft as the onions, if not softer. The seasoning on the dish was nothing like I experienced before, and that is, unfortunately, not a compliment. It tasted of Asian BBQ sauce and ketchup? The flavor was also so light that the incredible amount of onions dominated the dish. I also got fried rice with my dish, and it was just yellow rice with no vegetables or protein. Another disappointment. The spring rolls were also highly disappointing. They came with the "combo" of the two dishes we got, so I understand they are free, but if you are going to serve them, please ensure that they have filling and are an addition and not a detraction from the dish. The spring rolls were filled with next to nothing, mostly the fried dough used to wrap them. My partner got Lo Mein and General Tso's chicken, and the flavor and crispiness of the chicken were incredible. However, her Lo Mein was kinda tough and definitely under seasoned, as it had no flavor, and what a shame, as the sauce from the chicken was delicious. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. I always save my leftover Chinese food for another day, but these went straight into the trash after we consumed the only delicious items, the General Tso's chicken and the one pork egg roll. read more

This small, primarily take-out Chinese American restaurant is located in a large sprawling shopping center off of University Pkwy on Summit Square Blvd. There is some small amount of inside seating - 8 or so small tables. I ordered the Hot and Spicy Beef and the Chicken Chow Mein, both with Fried Rice. Both dishes were tasty, with plenty of protein & fresh tasting, crunchy vegetables. The beef dish did have a nice spice level, nothing that was too much. I liked both dishes, and will probably reorder both. These are not exotic Chinese dishes, but just solid Chinese American fare, I like such from time to time. I consider the take-out I ate here to be superior to most I've sampled, including Mr Lu's on Robinhood Rd. read more

I have visited this restaurant for many years. Today, I placed an order over the phone and picked it up. When I get home to eat my order I was very very very disappointed- the freshness and quality that I have become accustomed to over the years, were certainly not there. I called to speak with the manager and asked to hold on. No one ever came to the phone. My experience this day was not good -the rice tasted old no freshness to it. Food is okay...service is lacking! I have been a regular customer for years and each time I order, they act as if I am a new customer, meaning they don't appear to appreciate repeat business. We actually walked in and ordered and waited in the car for our good to be prepared. E we drove back 20 min to our hotel and opened up 2 disappointing dishes. My chicken fried rice had minimal chicken a lot of raw onions and hard green peas. I had to pull the onions out of each bite. There was no flavor at all. I ate about 1/3rd because it only dinner. My husband wasn't much better. His dish was supposed to be spicy. No spice. Hardly any chicken. No flavor. He ate about 1/3rd as well. I understand the efforts and struggles COVID has been for restaurants. But not cooking the food properly or leaving out most of the meat and flavor in a dish isn't acceptable. read more

Made the mistake of getting lunch at this disgraceful disgusting place. I asked them for veggies in Lieu of rice they could not comply. I said fine, charge me for a full combo and a Nother sesame chicken combo. I emphatically told him no rice in either entrée. Made the mistake of leaving without checking I get back to my work there is rice in both including the entrée that I paid regular price for. There was more rice than vegetables. The vegetables were soggy and disgusting . With the first bite it was easy to see why my food was ready so quick. They took no time in seasoning the rice nor chicken. I was definitely glad I only got the chicken fried rice. Price point and portion were in line with what you'd expect with take out. Decor is catered towards take out as the inside isn't very inviting. Very displeased with customer service. Received order that was ,and tasted burnt. Called and was told that i would have to get in my car again and bring itcback. It was raining cat and dogs and very cold outside. Told him i would not be coming back out tonight. He said he couldn't help me unless i would come back that very moment. Me and my husband decided to stop at east China for lunch. We ordered the Sesame chicken lunch combo. The first mistake they made was my husband stated he did not want rice they told him they would charge him for another lunch special and give him mixed vegetables. However upon getting home to enjoy we noticed that he had rice in his sesame chicken combo and rice in the mixed vegetables. The second mistake was once we tasted the sesame chicken it was so hard and had no seasoning it tasted as if it was chicken they had left over from the previous night.
