Seoul Garden is tucked behind a used car dealership is a small strip mall. I have to admit that I was a bit concerned since I was the only customer at 6:30pm on a Tuesday night. It felt strange to be the only one in a huge dining area. My server was very attentive. Since it was rather warm, I ordered the Mul naeng myun (cold noodle soup) and a seafood pajeon. Food was excellent. Banchan appetizers had very good kimchi & other vegetable dishes. The haemul pajeon was perfectly made with plenty of seafood (shrimp, squid) & was perfect crispy. The cold noodles were in an icy beef broth & the noodles were delightfully chewy. I walked in and was struck by how empty the pace was at 6pm. I soon found out why. ULTRA high prices on skimpy portions. This isn't even authentic Korean food. They throw extra sugar into everything, which you would never do in Korea. I regret that they got my money for the tiny portions that arrived at my table, including the tiny entree. I have been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally had the chance to. The ramen was so comforting and would be great in the winter. It was spicy and savory. I added tofu kimchi and dumpling. It came with bon Chon. The potato salad was great, I had never tried potato salad with green apples. They also gave us some iced tea after our meal. I have not had a lot of Korean food and this was a really good start. The starters you get before your meal were really good I had never had kimchi before and really liked it. We got the pork and vegetables / it was $26 kind of pricey for one person but not bad when splitting but I could have eaten it all. It was really flavorful. Good spot for korean, hard to rate now with Kpot in its vicinity but they still remain to doing things the exact same. Even the inside is the exact same, they go by the phrase "if it's not broke, don't fix it". Service is the exact same. One of the few spots I can say that has almost zero turnover in the front half haha. Pro-tip: make sure to dine in. I just feel like I get less to go and of course you miss out on the bonchon. I have never been to a Korean restaurant until this one. This was a great one for me to start at. I loved the different kimchi starters and macaroni salad that was brought out before our meal. We had pork belly which was so delicious and the seafood pancake. We got the small. It was so large. We had plenty of leftovers and we got a soup. I can't remember the name, but it was really good and also had a lot of leftovers. I had rice cakes for the first time and they were delicious! You get a lot of food for a good price. I look forward to going back and learning/trying more. There are lunch specials too. I will be sure to go back during lunch. read more

Everything about this place was amazing. The ambiance and atmosphere were comfortable and quiet, the lights low which remind of an actual korean restaurant in South Korean. The service was lovely, we were given free banchan (side dishes), and digestive dessert tea at the end. The food was lovely, I had the jjajangmyan (black bean noodles), and my partner had the spicy galbi dabbab (spicy beef, vegetables, and rice) I believe thats how thats spelled!), we also got terriyaki chicken, and chicken katsu to go; the boiled dumplings were also absolutely delicious. The 30 minute dive was worth it, and it would be worth it even if it was a couple hour drive, or if I was actually flying to South Korea. Seoul Garden IMO is a classic Korean spot. I have came here plenty of times. This most recent time was about the same as every other time. Don't miss out on the local restaurant. Their prices and food is great. I love how they bring the little dishes before bringing out your meal. It's a variety of pickled vegetables like pickled bean sprouts, cabbage, daikon and onions. The also end your meal with an iced ginger/cinnamon drink. The only thing about the food I wasn't pleased with is their meat portion size. I ordered the Bibimbap in the hot stone bowl and I could eat all the bulgolgi beef with it in 3 bites ( with rice.) I would be understanding if this dish was meant to be without a lot of meat, but for $3 more I expected the dish to have a little more meat. Service is now a lot better than what it used to be. I was craving ramen and we'll you know how it goes...you have to fulfill it or it will keep at you. I wanted to try a place I hadn't been to before so I came across this location and decided to give it a shot and so glad I did! When I walked in I was immediately greeted by my waitress and then she walked us to a booth. For drinks we got the plum wine (can only get by the bottle) and Hot Sake along with water. After ordering our food, she brought us our salads and then the "extras" to go on top. That included kimchi, meat, vegetables and one I wasn't sure of the contents. Then our food arrived and O...M...G!!! It was everything I was waiting for! I got the spicy Ramen and added two eggs and shrimp tempura to it. DELICIOUS is all I can say. It was pure perfection. My husband got the BooDae Junbo and it was really meant to share with like 4 people but he had several bowls there and enough left that it took two huge cups to get it all. This restaurant has been a staple in the area for Korean food for at least 10 years now, so they have to be doing something right. Admittedly, Korean food is underrepresented in this area, and now that I'm out of Greensboro and understand the Korean food scene a bit more, I can say that Seoul Garden is nothing special. Their selection of authentic Korean dishes is pretty limited, but it's what you'll have to accept if you're looking for Korean food in this area. That being said, the food itself isn't bad, it just isn't anything great. Service can come off as blunt or rude due to the language barrier, but I don't think that's the intention. The interior is dim and could benefit from some brighter decor. Overall, it's not what I would really call a solid representation of amazing Korean food, but it's your best (and pretty much only) choice by default here. read more

Finally found something kind of close to Korean bbq we used to get back in California. I was super excited to try it and was pleased! First of all, I think it's very pricey and menu was a bit confusing. There are very few items on the menu that you cook yourself on the table and the portion wouldn't be bad for 2, but in a group the price adds up quick. Portions are priced per person for everyone there. This may be the norm, but it was very different to me, compared to paying a set price for all you can eat. Second of all, I think the whole experience is to get to cook it for yourself but there was some employees that kept doing that for us and cutting it. Which was nice, and it may just be me, but I kind of want to do it. Feel like it's part of the fun. I really enjoyed the shrimp tempura! It was sooo good. Along with kimchi fried rice, which topped with an egg made it all the best. We also ordered bulgogi, and honestly there was more onion than actual meat. So that was a let down, but the sauce complimented the meats we cooked very well. The tofu/potato soup paired well with the white rice too. But most of all, loved making me some lettuce wraps! One of my favorite spots around Greensboro, menu does keep getting smaller and prices keep increasing, but for the most part everything stays the same. Not many options for Korean around Greensboro so this place's success solely hinders around that and its consistent quality. If you're a beginner I'd recommend the jigae as it is a Korean staple, any dubbab dishes, and any of the pancakes for an appetizer. read more

Seoul Garden was OK. There aren't many Korean restaurants in Greensboro/the Triad and I imagine this might be the best one. It may also be the only one that serves legit Korean barbecue using in-table grills. However, this is definitely more of a traditional Korean restaurant as opposed to a Korean BBQ restaurant, so keep that in mind. I do think it is better than another Korean restaurant in Greensboro, Dasarang (now Danji: https://bit.ly/2CPwkjN) and probably better than High Point Korean BBQ (https://bit.ly/2CMZ0tD) too, though if you're already in High Point, I'm not sure Seoul Garden is worth the drive unless you're looking for a change. This place is old school and set up in customary Korean fashion with a partitioned dining room made up of booths and tables. They have a couple TVs. The one mounted on the wall was playing K-pop music videos. I don't remember what the other TV was playing, but it was Korean programming. The number of tables with grills is limited. I only saw two and they're designed to seat six people each. There are no exhaust hoods so it presumably gets smoky if you decide to have meats cooked at your table. The restaurant's menu is sizable. Apps (about $5-15 each) include items like dumplings and seafood and kimchi pancakes. They offer nearly 20 different kinds of soups and stews ($9-16) including different varieties of tofu stew and rice cake and dumpling soup. They have teriyaki and hibachi dishes ($9-13), Korean mixed rice in stone bowls ($9-12), mackerel prepared different ways ($11), katsu (fried pork and chicken cutlets, $10), assorted noodles from Korean chicken noodle soup to udon noodles ($8-13), and over 20 shared entrees ($12-38) including tripe, stir-fried squid and octopus, fried chicken, and grilled pork belly. The only dessert on the menu is cheesecake ($4). If you wonder why it says "sushi" on the awning above the entrance, that's because they offer a reservation-only halibut sashimi special ($100). That's the only sushi on the menu. Drink-wise, they serve beer (some Japanese imports, no Korean), wine, and sake. We visited for dinner on a Sunday night and the restaurant got fairly busy. There were only two older Korean lady (aunties/ajummas) servers who were no-nonsense and working "at capacity" with all the customers. Therefore, service was a bit slow (they were doing their best given the circumstances), but at least our food came out fast. We ordered the following: * C-2. Dol Sot Bibim Bab ($9.99) - Korean mixed rice with an egg yolk in a sizzling stone bowl + chicken (I forgot if they charged extra for the chicken) * C-13. Spicy Broiled Mackerel ($10.99) - salted broiled mackerel topped with Korean red pepper paste, served with broiled garlic and rice * D-1. Mool Nang Myun ($9.99) - cold arrowroot noodles, cold beef broth, half boiled egg, beef brisket, cucumbers, pickled radish * E-19. LA Galbi ($16.99) - grilled prime beef, cut across the bone, marinated in semi-sweet sauce, served with assorted stir-fried veggies and a side of rice The Dol Sot Bibim Bab with chicken was OK. Ingredients included shaved carrots, bean sprouts, dark leafy greens, dried seaweed, sesame seeds, and more. The ingredients were fresh enough. The chicken was grilled, chopped into chunks, and the chunks were tender. The disappointing thing about this dish was the bowl - it wasn't hot enough to sizzle and cook the rice. Usually with dolsot bibimbap, the rice gets cooked along the surface of the bowl, becoming hard and crispy. The rice barely (or didn't even) cook in this version. Our server gave us a squeeze bottle of gochujang (Korean sweet and savory red chili paste) to put on the bibimbap. Gochujang and mixing your bowl well are keys to a tasty bibimbap. The Spicy Broiled Mackerel was fine, nothing special. The fish was served whole with bones and there was a generous amount of gochujang with sesame seeds on top. I would argue there was too much sauce. This was a pretty simple dish. The fish was somewhat small and not terribly meaty, but the skin was nice and crispy and had decent flavor. The Mool Nang Myun was satisfactory. These are also known as Korean cold noodles and they're one of my favorite Korean comfort foods. The noodles were a bit too soft for my liking and the slices of brisket were rather bland and not the best quality. Overall, this wasn't a bad bowl of naengmyeon, but it wasn't one that I craved either. The broth and ingredients lacked the flavor that I typically enjoy. The LA Galbi was disappointing. The sauce/flavoring was good, but the meat quality was poor. I've never had LA galbi that was so tough and chewy. It should should be the opposite: soft and tender. If this meat quality is the norm, I do not recommend it. There were six different kinds of banchan (small Korean side dishes) included with our meal including kimchi, fishcake, and spicy pickled daikon radish. A friend and I visit local "ethnic" restaurants monthly to get out of our food comfort zones and to try something new. This month, we went to Seoul Garden. It did not disappoint! I got the boiled dumplings and the actual Bulgagi something I can't remember but it was the actual Korean BBQ dish with white rice. I got mine without broccoli because I am a child. It was DELICIOUS! The portions of both rice and meat could have been slightly bigger but it was still great food. I only gave it 4 stars for that AND because they don't open until Noon so I had to sit in their parking lot for 30 minutes watching them mop the floors before I could go inside. read more

If you want good traditional Korean food in the area, this is the place to come. Owner and servers are friendly and helpful. My mom really loves the mackerel and my daughter loves the fried dumplings. I love the stews and their meat dishes. If your palette is not as adventurous than I recommend safe bets like bulgogi or don-gatsu. I also love the noodle dishes. Ask for the complimentary barley tea. read more

We ordered shareable potion stir fry squid and udon. It is so delicious, probably the best I've had for a while. The flavor is really balanced, and I love the little hint of charred flavor which makes it stand out; the texture is perfect as well. The sharable potion can comfortably feed three people, totally worth it. BTW, it's called spicy squid, but it's barely spicy at all.
