I used East Coast Shipping for a move from South Florida to Montreal Canada. Being an international move, I was somewhat nervous about selecting the perfect moving company. I started the process by requesting quotes from many different moving companies. East Coast shipping was not the cheapest nor the most expensive but very quick to respond to my questions. Even when questioning East Coast Shipping for the actual customs process in Canada, I verified on my own with Canadian Customs and what EC Shipping had stated was exactly the same as the actual Customs' officer stated and exactly what happened with my shipment. The company was able to pick up my items (56 boxes) on the day I wanted and almost on time (crew was delayed an hour but I was notified of the delay). I was told about 2 weeks for the shipping process and at 10 days I was notified that the shipment would arrive within a day or 2 at Customs for me to physically go and clear. All paperwork was send in perfect order, clearing took less than an hour and the movers could have delivered same day (I opted for a few days later as I needed to coordinate with HOA). No hidden fees, no delays, no issues. I had one mug and one glass broken within the 56 boxes which is expected with an international move. I had a great experience with the company. read more

Stolen parts of my shipping from the USA to Europe (someone took our stuff and resealed the boxes with different tape) we don't know if it was in the US or Europe Side but based on both companies reviews, both are really bad and faulty so not really a way to know where this happens, so both are responsible for it, of course, both companies are washing their hands and blaming on each other. Time: worst timing ever, they said it was going to be around 3-4 months we send our stuff in August 2022 and we just got our stuff in February 2023, they say it was because of some delays in the Port of Netherlands, Rotterdam ( of course no one can say why or what, just been there stuck for 3+ months they say because of the port issues ), After all that, got our stuff, but there is some stuff missing like Bed sheets, bed covers, Toys for a little kid, pans, even they took a plastic drawer container, you know those from the container store, where you put the medicine and left the drawer, they took some really good stone pans and left a 24" lid from 6 pans they took 5 lids ( you forgot 1, guys). they work with another company in Rotterdam "world freight relocations WFR4U" worst communication ever, you have to deal with both companies and even ask you for more money, they send you an email asking you some questions about how is the street and access to it, and they send the truck dimensions where they are supposed to send your stuff which is "double semi" (in the Streets of Europe, Really!!!? ), of course I send back that if they are sending that Trailer to deliver my stuff is going to be challenging to fit in the street, "There response: you have to pay 300Euros for your delivery because we need to find a parking spot or you have to arrange it", btw, it wasnt a trialer they send like a 3.5Tons truck not a trailer like the email said. oh, and because our stuff was on hold by the port (they said) we had to pay demurrages of 350.00 Euros in order to get our shipment, and of course, again you have no way to know if that's the truth, there is no paper trace, no indications from the port no nothing, just an invoice asking for ransom for your stuff. Avoid these 2 companies, they do not care for your stuff or their business reputation, I guess we got lucky that some of our stuff was delivered based on other reviews thank god for that. read more

Moved internationally from Miami, FL to Paris, France. It cost less than $1,000 for 70Cft (2 cubic meter) door to door, including insurance and so on. Had to pay an extra fee of $300 to the port in Rotterdam due to custom inspection. We received our shipment with no damage (we made sure to use double-wall moving boxes and we favored a higher number of boxes in order not to overload each one of them). Everyone along the way was nice and professional. The shipment was picked in Miami mid august, arrived at the Port in Rotterdam Europe after a month and half, then stayed another month and half before being delivered in Paris. In total it took 3 months to get it from door to door. Beside the unexpected inspection cost at the port, the overall experience was satisfying. read more

The total cost was 3x what they quoted, we were held in customs for 9 days (costing us $5500), and they short-changed the delivering company because they used USD for a cost rather than EUR. It's unlikely I will ever need to move internationally again. But if I do, I would rather paddle the stuff across the ocean myself than have any further contact with them. read more

I had a simple request to a very common destination ( London UK) and they were completely unable to make it happen. In short my personal belongings were collected in New York City on June 30th with the understanding from the Company that they would reach their intended destination - London - in about 8 weeks maybe 10. In fact I did not receive my belongings until the second week of November. I have hundreds of E Mails that have gone back and forth between Daniel in the EC office and me following up on simple questions that I never got a straight answer to and which in the end it was apparent that he told barefaced lies. They had to confess that my belongings had not reached London at the end of September even though I had been informed prior that they were on a ship. Eventually some weeks later and with more lies they air freighted them to me, but at that stage the damage was done in terms of costs and stress incurred . The stress and extra costs that the incompetence of this company has caused me I would not wish on anyone - moving is a stressful exercise and nothing that this company did exacerbated that stress in any way in fact quite the opposite. Numerous call voice Mails and E Mails to the President of the Company went unanswered and she has never once apologized to me for the mess stress and expense that I have had to endure as a result of their incompetence. They agreed to give me a partial refund at one stage and then never delivered on the promise.. So I hope that anyone who is considering using this company will think again once they have looked at this review, they do not deserve to be in business - AVOID read more

We'd like to recommend Daniel and the East Coast Shipping's team. We relocated from NYC to London in July 2016. After having questioned and clarified many proposals received from many shipping companies, we can say that Daniel was amongst the quickest and most diligent in providing proper answers and a turnkey service. Word of advice, though: make sure you get a thorough proposal from any potential vendors, from pickup to drop-off, otherwise you may not get what you're expecting! Aside from late starts due to traffic in NYC and London respectively, we were pleased with the professionalism of both departure and arrival crews. The pickup and retrieval of our furniture was according to expected timeline, which means less than three weeks by ship in our case. We went with East Coast shipping for our International move from US to Canada. They have an amazing Marketing team who are super responsive upfront to reel you in. However, as soon as you pay the initial deposit, all of a sudden it's a completely different company. They don't respond to mails. The 3rd party carrier they contract with are very unprofessional. Our goods arrived in Canada 3 weeks after the initial promise date. My family (2yr old, 7 yr old and wife) were stuck in a hotel, while their Canadian counterparts and East Coast shipping went back and forth. They ended up damaging a lot of our expensive furniture and we did not get any refund back from insurance, despite taking the highest coverage. The insurance company UNIRISC is a total scam like East Coast shipping. If after you read this review you still want to go ahead with East Coast shipping, I'd say - "Good Luck" .... read more

Do not consider East Coast shipping. This company is not trustworthy at all. My family and I wanted to move from Florida to Europe and trusted East Coast shipping with that move and all our belongings. All. Our whole household. Two months after they picked up our stuff from our home we were notified that all our belongings were stolen. A whole container. Everything was gone: furniture, TVs, bike, clothes, shoes, household supplies... We had nothing left but those few things we had in our suitcase with us. About 9 or 10 other families were effected and had everything stolen. We didn't even get the money from the insurance but a small amount. Nothing close to the damage. It was horrible and the worst thing that happened in our life. Family pictures, books, everything gone! East Coast Shipping wasn't much of a help or responsive. Everyone involved in this case assumed that this was an inside job! A few months later we were notified that the police had found the stolen container in a park in Miami. Very few pieces (clothes and about 3 Tupperware containers) were found. But unfortunately East Coast Shipping wasn't even able to send us that correctly. They sent us clothes from other families and were never able to fix that. Daniel never responded to our emails and no one else did either. We are still suffering from that sometimes. You can replace clothes but other things are irreplaceable. Be aware! Rather choose a different company! read more

Total crooks! I am using them to import goods from the UK to the US and ever few days they email me asking for more money for some new fee they incurred along they way. And wouldn't you know they only way to get them the money is Western union or money gram. I should have cut my losses and used the money to sue. But I didn't. Now my product is stuck at customs and surprise they want more money which like a dummy I payed. Well my product has been sitting in customs for 2 weeks and now they want more money again! I moved my household goods from miami to london. The communications were poor. I was given no timelines. Once my items had been picked up suddenly I received no more responses apparently due to "deadlines" so my questions were ignored. My paperwork was not handed over properly to Euro group - I had to re clarify my position and paper work for re importation to U.K. When it came to payment I was sent an invoice with no timeline before my goods arrived. Furthermore when my goods were in port and I tried to pay they were happy to accept card payment if I paid a 4% surcharge card processing fee which is illegal in the state of Florida. When I questioned this they told me it was written in their invoice therefore I had to pay it I said no... and they said in that case we take away the option for you to pay with card and can only pay by transfer ... I would not accept this. The account person refused to ask their lawyer for qualifications nor get his manager involved. My goods are being held in port as he has not resolved this - shocking. Levying another erroneous feee (as others I have not mentioned had been removed that I complained about such as 75 dollars for filling in an insurance form..) In court they will not win as it is state law on the erroneous card feee and then discrimination by removing the right to pay by card as he is now claiming my payment is late having never said that before!! And my response always being the same until it is onland through customs which I was paying them to manage I would not pay - so once through I said I would pay and they then play games and levy illegal fees Daniel was the person dealing with my shipment read more

We have moved numerous times so we knew what to expect and how things are done by professionals. East Coast shipping were completely unprofessional and could not fulfill a single promise they made. This was an international move so everything had to be on time and coordinated with the local shipping container. The movers were scheduled to be at our house at 8:30am instead after chasing them down they finally showed up at just past 1pm. The move required at least 4 people and only 2 showed up. They showed up in a Enterprise rented truck with some boxes, we could have hired a couple high school kids to get this type of service. Clearly being late and without sufficient resources the packing took significantly longer rather than the day they promised. The following day the container failed to show up at 9am as promised so the movers then told us they had to leave (leaving us with a house full of boxes) to go to another job. We were then lied too & told this job when 30min away when in fact it was 3hrs away. We called East Coast shipping in a panic they then had to track down these movers as they also had no idea what was going on. They finally came back stinking of weed to load a container that showed up over 3hrs late. East Coast Shipping contracted our whole job out, they had no control or any standard of service. The move was completely chaotic and unprofessional, when we approached East Coast Shipping about this they denied any responsibility. They clearly took on a job they couldn't handle simply to charge us over $7000 for sub standard service at best. I would recommend NEVER employing this company as you can't trust who will show up to do the job, if they do or any guarantees they make. read more

We had the worst possible experience with East Coast Shipping: we hired them to ship our things from Boston to Switzerland to find out one month later that our entire container had been stolen from their premises in Miami. As it turns out, the company leaves containers unguarded (without even a camera) on their parking over the weekend, because apparently nobody "would think that somebody would just come and take a 40 foot container". Well, guess what, somebody did, and we lost all of our stuff. They reported this theft to police only a few days later because they were actually not sure "if somebody else may have taken the container by mistake", who of course could not find it. You think that is bad? It gets better... six weeks after the theft they wrote to us to inform us that the insurance (we paid for) would not cover this, and that their liability insurance would cover about 20% of our loss. Unless you like suing other people in court, PLEASE avoid this company. I honestly don't think a company like this should have a license to operate. Cons: Pickup date was suddenly moved earlier; truck sent was dangerously decrepit and I had to build a loading platform and ramp; driver promised that there would be equipment with which to break the seal at the other end and there was not. Most of my problem was with the delivery firm in Germany, which was tortuous and it cost me about 1000 USD more than my original fixed price contract. My impression is that they feel free to take advantage of folks vulnerable in the midst of moving. The only word I come up with is: bandits. BE VERY WARY, especially if the delivery firm is called Active Moving + Shipping GmbH. Try to find out at the U.S. end before contracting services. After initial contact promising me full cooperation and communication, they changed the delivery date 4 times at the last minute without checking with me, required extensive documents with no notice, charged a deposit that was not in the contract and WAS NEVER RETURNED, charged me for avoiding customs duties but did not do that (I had to pay), and finally billed me another €200 for nothing, then took me to court for it knowing it would be more expensive for me to fight it. Whatever karma they generate through these fraudulent business practices is their lookout. I'm just relieved to have them finally completely out of my life, 9 months after my move. Pros: Daniel was easy to deal with and accommodated my need to reduce the cost by loading/unloading myself; the container was sealed, ensuring security until delivery; my things did actually get from the U.S. to Germany. Both drivers were pleasant. I'm relieved I did not use more of their services, like loading/unloading, leaving more chance to be taken advantage of. read more

Our experience was awful. We used ECS for a move from Chicago to London; the contents of a 1-bedroom apartment so not particularly large or difficult. In short - terrible communication as soon as we'd paid, late delivery that seemed to only happen because we hassled them enough, and then after telling us the cost included everything informed us that we'd be charged to have our things delivered to our flat because our street wasn't big enough for the local UK trucks - this despite that they had the address from the start and we don't live on a narrow street at all by UK standards. The whole thing was a headache and felt like a shakedown to get us to pay more by holding our belongings hostage. read more

East Coast Shipping lost 5 of my boxes during a move from Germany. There was poor communication during the arrival of my shipment and they did not respond to emails or phone calls after the boxes went missing. I have made a formal complaint with BBB and still have not heard a response. Would not recommend using ECS!! read more
