Tried to come here for dinner tonight. There were 8 of us. They told us they only seat 6. we said that's fine, no worries, we'll sit at two separate tables. They told us no. A restaurant that was completely empty on a Saturday night, turned down 8 hungry people trying to eat. He, one of the owners (has glasses, grey hair, beard, and taller/bigger dude) told us that he didn't want us "disturbing his dining room" - said he was worried if we were at two tables, we'd be talking and disturbing others. Wait what? Are you telling me a restaurant refused our business for no rational reason?! The food is not even that good, but damn, what a weird situation! First time for everything i guess. Needed a bite before going to the airport. Strolled in here to a half empty restaurant and was told without a reservation we could sit at the bar. Which we did. Bartender was pleasant and efficient despite our not ordering drinks. Pizza was weird. Honestly, I felt like it was a flour tortilla with sauce. Ordered the meat lovers and while there technically was meat in it - it wasn't enough to "love". Between the diffident attitude of the hostess (who is either the owner or manager) and the crappy pizza we won't be back. read more

My Dad absolutely loves this pizza, his all time favorite thin crust. In my opinion the pizza is good, but the salad is even better. Very basic, just mixed greens, but I just love their house dressing. Customer service can definitely be lacking, thus the 4 star rating for inconsistency. I made it a point to find the closest thing to NYC's iconic $1 pizza slice a few years ago and East End did not disappoint. They've become my go-to pizza spot, and even if it is a bit pricey, the quality is what keeps my business and I plow through all of the food anyway, so nothing is ever wasted. My wife and I used to share an order of the garlic knots until we realized pretty quickly that we'll each be needing our own. They always make 'em super crispy. Highly recommend. My friend and I tried to eat here tonight, but apparently, we were invisible. When we walked into the restaurant, we saw a "please wait to be seated sign" with a QR code. We scanned the QR code to view the menu and waited. The lady working at the bar looked at us but did not greet us with a "we'll be right with you". She stared at us and pretended to be busy serving the 2 guests seated at the bar. The server walked past us multiple times and didn't bother looking up. We thought maybe the server was catching up on orders and we would be seated soon. We were wrong. A white lady walked into the restaurant and within seconds, the lady from the bar greeted her and told her that they weren't seating anyone because they didn't have clean dishes. Okay, that's gross. But why did that lady not say anything to us? It's a small restaurant. You can see who is standing at the front. It's pretty lame to be racist and expect people to dine at your restaurant. Don't bother wasting your time or money here. There are much better establishments that aren't racist around Alameda. read more

I'm no expert on pizza, but after trying a number of places over the years, I'd say that East End has some pretty tasty options and combinations that are on the fancier gourmet side. Getting takeout from here was interesting, because their pizzas don't travel well unless uncut and they noted this when ordering online. Their crust was definitely on the thinner and chewier side, so slicing through it wasn't the easiest. I was wondering how the dough would hold up to all of the aromatic toppings and it did really well. The "Bianca" pizza had olive oil, garlic confit, fresh mozzarella and herbs. Added crimini mushrooms for an additional charge. And goodness that garlic confit was STRONG, so strong that heating up a single slice made the entire house smell like garlic lol. I appreciated that they didn't hold back and it was packed with flavor though. The "Cheese Please" pizza came with tomato sauce, house cheese blend (not sure what that consisted of as they weren't listed out online). Added house made Italian sausage and spinach. The cheese on here was definitely earthy, kinda funky, yet it worked with the savory tomato sauce and sweet sausage. It was nice to have this pizza to balance out the Bianca. We've passed by East End a number of times when going to the marketplace, but this was the first time trying their food and I would say that I was surprised by how bold their food and flavors were. I'm interested in trying their pastas and free-range chicken dishes next time. I think it might be an entirely different experience eating the pizza at the restaurant vs. takeout/delivery and one that I'd look forward to. read more

My first time back since the pandemic for an appetizer and a gl. Wonderful new bartender Malesia (sp?) guided me in my wine choice. I had not had chicken wings for at least 15 years and went for it. Delectable wings tossed in a calabrian chile glaze sauce with an aoili dipping sauce. I'm going back for the Happy Hour Oysters next time( 5-6pm ). These folks make great pizza. And even some good salads. Here is the rub, they are rude. The hostess, is just basically not nice. I arrived 10 minutes early, and she would not allow me to sit at the table, until more of our group was there. It was a Saturday night, and it was not busy. I could sit at the bar and have a cocktail, but not at the table. Then there is the no menu deal. I get it, but using the code on the table requires you to set up an account before you can see the food items. Seriously! I made the mistake of ordering a Diet Coke. My friends and I came here on a Monday night around 8pm and it was really easy to get seated. The interior of the place is really hip-- a good date spot kind of place. I loved everything about my experience, although the food was pretty pricy. I ordered a burger and split the mega tots with my friends. For a dish to have the name "mega tots", I thought the tots were going to be massive, but they were just three slightly larger than average tots for $7. They were good, but definitely not worth it. I got the beef burger with swiss cheese and it tasted amazing (they have the impossible patties here!). It was a very solid burger. The fries were just the way I like them too-- crispy, unlike in-n-out's soft fries. I would come here if I felt like I wanted to treat myself, otherwise this place is a bit pricy for what it is. read more

Been there before to eat in and for take out. Pizzas are fine, not my favorite but others enjoy. I think their cocktails are outstanding. The problem we had recently was service. We booked 7 of us for a birthday. When we arrived they couldn't seat us because they'd written the booking down incorrectly. We had email confirmation of our booking but they still refused to seat us - no effort to accommodate the booking at all, even if we had to wait a bit. And the restaurant wasn't busy at that point. So, upshot is unreliable, unfriendly and unhelpful service. read more

I didn't think that would matter as much as it did, but it really does affect the quality of the experience. I felt like a bother to the restaurant rather than a guest. I was looking forward to this restaurant opening up again after covid. Loved the food. Very disappointing to find out when we arrived last week that you have to have a smart phone in order to see the menu and order a meal. They have NO paper menu's nor a chalkboard or anything to show what they offered. The pizza and the drinks are great, but not sure if they are worth the 35 minute wait to get a drink and 45 minutes to get a pizza flung at your table with zero conversation or explanation from the server when it's finally ready. You'll also have to be okay with flagging someone down to get water or take your order. It'll be the same way on slow or busy nights. Sometimes your server will take off before you're finished and you'll just have to figure out how to close out with someone who has no idea what's going on. Worst service I've ever experienced and I didn't even get to eat here! Wouldn't take our group of 8 even in two separate tables complaining that we would "take up his restaurant". The manager who also claimed to be one of the owners is extremely rude and wouldn't even give a reasonable explanation. After many years of wondering, I finally made it into East End. And in doing so I feel like a complete idiot for not coming here sooner. It just always seemed so busy. Now I know why. I met up with a friend for happy hour, arriving at about 5:30. We ordered two glasses of wine, (the Barbera) warm olives, a house salad, and the Magic Carpet pie with bacon. EVERYTHING was perfection! From the service, to the impeccably crafted meal. I'll have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about the thin crust pizza. (Not usually my fave) But in hindsight, I'm glad that's how it's done. It eliminated any and all guilt of my having devoured an entire half-pie! Kudos to the East End team! Not sure how I didn't find this place earlier! We already cannot wait to go back. (Well, order takeout again, that is.) it was our Valentine's tradition- pizza! And east End delivered. Okay but seriously, delicious all around. Garlic knots weren't too garlicky, which is a huge plus. No chunks of garlic or greasiness sitting on the bread, just delicious fried knots with super freshly grated parm and parsley on top. Chicken wings were a 9/10, according to a wing connoisseur. House made BBQ and ranch were a treat! The pizza. The pizza. Artichokes, goat cheese, leeks, truffle oil (the King Thistle) were great, and the fire roasted taste was on point. We added anchovies and crushed red pepper when we got home, and we ate the whole thing. Quickly. Also nabbed the winter arugula salad, which was very flavorful and fresh. Cooked well done, crispy outside and tender meat. Both sauces good - don't taste the garlic in the creamy sauce. Garlic knots: less doughy more flaky and delicious. would like to see this come in various sizes. + marinara sauce was meh. I thought it was imbalanced & husband thought it sweet. Carbonara: Tasted great but didn't travel well IMO. Also looks very different than that plated at the table (no egg topping the pasta). I had a craving for Pizza . So I checked my Yelp bookmarks and East End Pizza was on it . So I jumped into my Whip White Beast and rolled to A town . Luckily East End is located in the Alameda Market place . They have a small parking lot . I stashed White Beast there and rolled in to East End. I was Greeted and Seated and Presented with a Menu which I perused . East End has a upscale feel and a full bar. It would be a great Date place . I ordered a Racer Stout IPA , Buffalo Wings and a Meator Thin Crust Pizza. My Racer Stout IPA and Buffalo Wings came first . They paired really well together . The Wings were very Yummy . I was brought a steaming Hot Linen Towel for Sauce and Face Clean up . That was a nice touch. The Meator pizza came 10 minutes later . That was very Tasty in was cooked in their Brick Wood Fired oven . Service was Excellent . My Server was very attentive. I paid by Discover Card and rolled out. read more

East End Pizza makes thin crust pizzas in a wood-fired oven. They have maybe dozen pizzas to choose from and rather uniquely all are vegetarian with the option to add meats for a couple dollars more.
