    the receipt for the restaurant
    Amanda E.

Food was ok but overpriced for the size. Drinks were as well. $13.50 for a small glass of wine in a plastic cup lol. A Magnum size bottle of Monkey Bay cost $14 in my local wine store. We weren't in NYC. Also everything we ordered was actually $1-2 more than listed on the menu. I ordered a platter that said it came with fries but on the receipt I was charged $4.50 for fries? Why would it be called a platter and not include fries? We sat outside and watched people eat and leave. Not one time did someone come and clean the tables. They should be during Covid. The young girls working inside just seemed a little unaware or just poor training.

Lobster Roll is served with "Lettuce and tomato"

The Lobster Roll was just okay - the consistency of tuna salad and small for the price, but flavorful. However the "lettuce and tomato" it comes with was a sad paper-thin twisted slice of tomato and the pathetic tail ends of some browned lettuce shreds. Definitely not worth the $30 dollars they charge for it. Plus the kitchen worker who was assembling it wasn't wearing her mask. Very disappointing, I'd been looking forward to trying this place.

Everytime we take a trip out to Montauk we notice this small roadside shack. This day we decided to drop in to try their food. The Lobster roll was a little to fancy/expensive for me as a first timer, so I went for the crab roll and the fried flounder. Crab roll was good. They weren't skimpy on the crab meat, and it had a good taste. Fried flounder was great. Crispy on the outside, tender and fresh on the inside. Not fishy, not greasy, and delicious. The fries were standard frozen fries. Nothing to write home about. Salad was... salad. Slaw was good, maybe a bit too Tangy for my taste, but my wife loved it All in all, I would do home cut style fries and use more upscale ingredients when it comes to the salad... especially when I am paying $15-$28 bucks for a sandwich Good job guys. The star of the show is what matters anyways, and you guys nailed it.

Oops lol It was a quiet Friday evening and Plaza Café is conveniently located near my friend's house there in South Hampton. Being off season, there has been very little traffic and people on the streets. There were only 3 other parties in the restaurant when we walked in. This place is cute, private, has great good food, and service. Their menu is very small, but I was still having trouble deciding what I wanted to eat for dinner. Finally decided on the Tile fish....Yeah I know, I was like. Was told that they're like human beings because they eat just about anything in the sea. No idea if that's true or not, but I'll take it. The dish was light and full of flavor. Tried some of my friend's Salmon/Udon dish and I actually think his was the better choice. The salmon went very well with the udon. Noodles were kind of firm and juices full of flavor. Plenty of parking in their private lot. Looks like they may share it with businesses/hotel in the area. I'd eat here again. The décor and feel was okay, nothing amazing or memorable.

I had no idea there was outdoor seating, or I would've requested that. The atmosphere was very casual with hits playing on the speakers and football reruns on the TVs, but none of that took away from the experience. Now onto the food... I ordered the hot lobster roll and a lobster bisque cup. The roll came with fries, but they gratuitously let me sub them out for sweet potato fries at no extra charge. They'll also throw in another roll if you notify the server you plan to split the hot lobster roll with somebody. I've never had one before, but I thought it was good! The roll could've been sliced better since it was difficult to pack the lobster on the sides, but that seemed to be a one-off since others in my party had a better sliced roll. The lobster bisque was thick and creamy. Thicker than what you'd expect, but still very good and they did not skimp out on the seafood. They came out quickly after ordering, which I guess is due to them just having to pour it into a cup in the back. I was expecting it to come with the rest of my meal, so I saved a little once my entree came. Overall, we had a fun experience, and I recommend this spot for a casual meal that can satisfy everyone, due to the plentiful menu options.

Onto my meal, I got the filet taco, boom shrimp taco, and the hot honey chicken. They were all so delicious and yummy, I can tell they took their time creating each taco into a masterpiece. I loved the boom shrimp the most, then the hot honey, and then the filet taco the least, but all of these were so delicious I loved it! The boom shrimp is a delicious trip into the savory tastes of shrimp and the sea. I loved the addition of tomatoes, fresh lettuce, and avocados, drizzled in ranch. The filet taco is a great feast of filet steak and crispy crunchy onions. Lastly the hot honey chicken was great with purple lettuce, corn, pickles, and more fresh delicious veggies. I loved all the tacos so much and if I come back to the area I'd definitely come back, a must go to! Service/ambiance: First off the waiters came to us quickly with a nice refreshing water pitcher with lemons. It was a nice day out but not too hot, inside was nice and cool with the ac but not too cold, a nice balance. Not too loud of a place but nice and chill with a light speaker with music playing in the background. This in my opinion is a huge upgrade to the last location in Northport, this is much bigger and it looks cleaner. Something that stood out to me was that there was no men's sign on the bathroom, but there was on the ladies. I don't know if they're discriminated or something, but that was something, but besides that the bathrooms were very squeaky clean.

I've gotten lobster rolls ranging from the Guppy (smallest) all the way to the Whale (largest, obviously). The hot lobster roll and I also truly love, and their cold lobster roll with the citrus mayo. They have different selections of mayo for the cold rolls you can choose from... I believe there might be a truffle and then there's also classic mayo. Most rolls come with arugula on them which I don't opt for lettuce/greens on any of my rolls but I don't mind it here because it's just a touchhhhh of arugula They have a cute little shaded area you can sit in to eat your meal, although it's usually empty because most just take it to-go but my favorite is parking the car and eating it outside :)

We stopped, were greeted cheerfully, and quickly found parking before heading to the window to order. My daughter had been there before, but this was my first visit, and we were both treated very well by the staff, including the Vice President of the Shinnecock Nation, who teased me for comparing their lobster rolls with ones I had tried previously at the original Lobster Roll in Montauk, Lunch in Southampton, and Cousins' Maine Lobster trucks back in Pennsylvania. He said theirs use fresh, not frozen lobster meat and are better. We both got the four ounce "Guppy" served Hamptons style - warm lobster topped with warm butter and chives over a bed of arugula served on a toasted brioche roll that came with a generous portion of classic shoestring fries and a pickle. Our sandwiches and fries were terrific, and I even got to try a Montauk iced tea, a local favorite that has half the sugar of Gold Peak sweet tea and came highly recommended by one of the private chefs in the Hamptons that I follow on social media. Overall, we had a great experience.

What an absolute Ship-Show…read more.. I was certain we were being Punk'd. At any moment I expected Ashton Kutcher to spring out from behind a curtain, headset dangling around his neck, laughing and pointing. But alas, there were no hidden cameras. This was sadly not a joke. And we weren't laughing. Our party arrived for dinner at roughly 8:30p, a full 90 minutes prior to the "Kitchen Closes at 10p" posted cut-off time. The staff behaved as though we rolled up at 9:58p. While we were excited about our meals, the Shippy's team was very clearly already done for the night. After navigating the waitlist and a hi-top bar table, we landed in our seats and placed our orders. We were there for dinner -- sadly our waitress was out to lunch. We ordered two burgers, two wurst platters, and two steak entrees. They got one of those six orders correct, while the other five went up in flames. Both wurst orders were cold. They were sent back to the kitchen, and came back cool. The two steak entrees -- one a filet, the other a strip -- were reversed. The filet came undercooked (arrived medium rare when medium well had been requested) while the strip, which was ordered medium rare, came in medium well. And of the two smash burgers, one was delicious. The other was missing. In fact, the food arrived in strange phases. One overcooked entree. By itself. Five minutes later, two cold entrees. Another five minutes, an undercooked entree, followed by the lucky smash burger. Twenty minutes later, and after multiple reminders, the final smash burger arrived. Clearly it had never been ordered and needed to be rushed. And "rush" is rather generous. Obviously the goal of a meal is for all entrees to arrive, at the proper temperatures, simultaneously. I've seen a snail wade through molasses at a better pace than this dinner service. However, perhaps the most frustrating part of this experience was the overall lack of urgency by the staff. As our table sat bewildered, our waitress was nowhere to be found. The staff was wiping down tables, cleaning menus, polishing check presenters, and all while we sat with cold, dead, and missing food. Our table was sinking fast, and instead of tossing us a life raft, Shippy's stood on the shoreline waving us Bon Voyage. Ultimately we had to call upon the manager, who tried her best but was without answers. There was nothing for her to do except remove one entree from the bill. In truth, the full meal should have been comped. It was that bad. And these were only the major issues. There were also wine mixups, dirty plates that stayed around longer than unwanted relatives at Thanksgiving, and empty glasses strewn about the table like red Solo beer cups at a fraternity party. To call the visit disappointing would be like referring to the Titanic as a row boat. This thing was an absolute disaster with Shippy's taking on water like a sea vessel made of Swiss cheese. Despite issues with temperature, speed, accuracy, and attentiveness, we still managed to spend nearly $400. It would have been more productive to simply burn a wad of cash right there at the table -- at least then we could have warmed up the wurst.

We were seated right away inside, which I requested, not knowing what August Summer heat might be. Our server was so sweet, patient, made great recommendations, all of which did not disappoint. We shared the Italian BLT salad and the tomato on Toast to start. The tomato on toast when it came out was a little under whelming, but it was beyond amazing. The tomato's tasted like they had no acid, and were picked straight off the vine out back. I had the ribeye which was perfectly medium rare, so tender, flavorful and a really generous portion. The potatoes were pure velvet, the smoothest and most delicious potato I've ever had. My husband had the past with shrimp and I think lobster? He loved it, was licking the plate clean. They also sent us out a dish of linguini with clams and again, my husband was licking the plate. The pace of all the food coming out was perfect, our server checked on us and the best part of the entire evening, was seeing Rocco! He went around to all the tables, ran food, talked to everyone. I'm not sure that he knew every table in the restaurant personally, but the way he was so kind and nice to everyone, I could assume he did. He smiled and said hello to us every time he passed us, it really made our entire evening. He even took photos with the table next to us when they asked, he could not have been a classier act.
