Capt. Phil and his team delivered an awesome beach party last night in Southampton. From appetizers to dessert everything was superb. Freshest clams ever, with Phill shucking non-stop for our guests. The lobster was good and the steak was excellent. Tables were beautifully set with lanterns and torches down the beach plus a giant bonfire! Best for me: they did EVERYTHING PERFECTLY, so we really got to socialize with our friends. Our guests were raving, (even our most jaded Hamptons friends). Ordered the salmon 22$? in marinara sauce, shrimp cocktail 15$ and lobster salad 33$ Omg the salmon in marinara sauce was heaven. So much flavor without that stank fish taste. Food was ok but overpriced for the size. Drinks were as well. $13.50 for a small glass of wine in a plastic cup lol. A Magnum size bottle of Monkey Bay cost $14 in my local wine store. We weren't in NYC. Also everything we ordered was actually $1-2 more than listed on the menu. I ordered a platter that said it came with fries but on the receipt I was charged $4.50 for fries? Why would it be called a platter and not include fries? We sat outside and watched people eat and leave. Not one time did someone come and clean the tables. They should be during Covid. The Lobster Roll was just okay - the consistency of tuna salad and small for the price, but flavorful. However the "lettuce and tomato" it comes with was a sad paper-thin twisted slice of tomato and the pathetic tail ends of some browned lettuce shreds. Definitely not worth the $30 dollars they charge for it. Plus the kitchen worker who was assembling it wasn't wearing her mask. I have driven past this place many times and decided to stop one day with family who were visiting. As we walked in, we were pleasantly greeted with a smile from the front-of-house staff. They presented a variety of beverages stocked in the refrigerator, in addition to homemade brownies, pies, and soups available to customers. Within our group, we had many dietary restrictions and we were ecstatic that the chef was more than happy to work with us so that we could dine with them, as we know not all restaurants are willing to do so. We had a bit of everything on the menu but what stood out to us the most was the lobster roll. I am telling you that you will never find a lobster roll as good as theirs- truly a classic and worth every penny. Every bite of food was magnificent. Safe to say, there wasn't a morsel of food left on our plates. The staff made sure to come outside and check on us, as well as offered us anything we needed which saved us a trip inside. Before we left, we made sure to purchase soups to-go and a homemade key lime pie. We had a wonderful experience at East End Clambakes and look forward to our next experience there. Everytime we take a trip out to Montauk we notice this small roadside shack. This day we decided to drop in to try their food. The Lobster roll was a little to fancy/expensive for me as a first timer, so I went for the crab roll and the fried flounder. Crab roll was good. They weren't skimpy on the crab meat, and it had a good taste. Fried flounder was great. Crispy on the outside, tender and fresh on the inside. Not fishy, not greasy, and delicious. The fries were standard frozen fries. Nothing to write home about. Salad was... salad. Slaw was good, maybe a bit too Tangy for my taste, but my wife loved it All in all, I would do home cut style fries and use more upscale ingredients when it comes to the salad... especially when I am paying $15-$28 bucks for a sandwich Good job guys. This is by far the best event caterer around! Stress-free event planning. They did my daughters wedding in October 2018 and family and friends are still talking about the food and service! Absolutely 5-star service and food! From the first meeting they took the pressure off! We did nothing but show up and enjoy the day. Oh and did I mention the nor'easter we were having lol it didn't dampen the occasion. Thanks to East End Clambake the day was perfect regardless of the weather. They brought the sunshine with food, drink and service from the moment our guests arrived at our home, we felt like we were at our own 5-star private catering hall! I have always seen this place whenever I drive by and I have never gone in, but this year I decided to go in and I was not disappointed the service was great and welcoming. They had many different options I had no idea what to order because everything looked so good I chose the crab cake sandwich and ordered the jumbo shrimp and they were amazing!! This seafood place is not worth the price. It is very expensive and quality was not worth it's price. I ordered the scallop platter which was $16 so I expected at least a good size scallops. The box it came in was big so got excited but inside were maybe a dozen tiny scallops. The kind that goes into soups as scrap and few pieces of ice berg lettuce for decorations with a tomato slice. Excellent local fresh seafood. It does have a campy feel to the outside seating area. Nice for a break from the traffic. But if you only eat at the little store you are missing the best. You want them to cater your parties! If you can book them. Plan ahead or order take out and bring it with you for when you get to where you are going. read more

Catering was perfect! We had a clambake for 24 on the beach and Captain Phil delivered a great meal and right on time. We had lobster, clams, mussels, corn, bbq chicken, coleslaw and watermelon. Everything was very hot, very fresh and cooked perfectly with plenty of drawn butter. The chicken was tender with a great sauce and char. The clams had a grilled flavor about them that was very nice. The lobster was on point and the corn was perfect. Even the watermelon was perfectly red and juicy. It all made for a great night and I would highly recommend it. read more

East End Clambake was the perfect end to my first Hampton's day trip! We spent the day at a public access beach and walking around Southampton, and we couldn't go back to NYC without some seafood. The two suggestions we got was Sliver's on Main Street and East End Clambake, which is on the way back to the city. Sliver's was closed, but even if it wasn't, it had a lobster roll for $36, so off we went to the Clambake. This shack is a really casual restaurant with mostly take out or quick dining on the 4-5 tables outside. The lobster roll was pretty large, on good bread, and had a good amount of tail meat, but needed a little more flavor. The fried shrimp, clam strips, and flounder were all great, especially with the tartar sauce. Also, the corn on the cob was cooked perfectly and sweet! While we were eating, two families met up for dinner and brought their own bloody mary's in a pitcher to accompany their seafood. So, while their kids ran around, they drank, ate, and laughed! I have driven by this place many a time without stopping during visits to The Hamptons. But I have always noticed it when I drove by and filed a note in the back of my mind to stop in and try it sometime. Well today was that day. Not bad, but not great. Overpriced platters dominate the menu board overhead behind the service counter; however, that (overpriced) is most oftentimes the case with most Hamptons area restaurants - especially seafood joints. I opted for the clam strip basket and a coke which came to about 17 bucks and change. The basket was plentiful enough and piping hot: adequately fried Clam strips, crinkle cut fries, small side salad (garnished with a tomato slice); lemon wedge; plus a tiny side of slaw (round things out nicely). Everything was good and the overall presentation was spot on. But, again, not great. There are numerous and perhaps better roadside dive seafood joints situated between E. Hampton and Montauk (i.e. near Hither Hills State Park / Amagansett); however, those places are several minutes farther up the road well past the town of East Hampton. So I will probably stop here again sometime in the future for a quick bite en route from LaGuardia to Wainscott. read more

If you have an 3/4 of an hour to wait for your food, getting cold fries, and a crab sandwich that could very easily have been a canned tuna fish sandwich, you might like this place. I read a review of this hole-in-the-wall seafood spot giving compliments that everything was done right. The review also stated the person was starving. That might explain the favorable review. I placed a simple order of grilled shrimp, crab sandwich and fries. After 35 minutes and watching 3 people who placed their orders after I did, received their food, I inquired what in my order is causing the delay. "We are out of crab salad for your sandwich," was her response. It would have been nice if you told me that half an hour ago. The shrimp were pretty good. Stopped in for the first time this weekend after driving by many times. I was pleasantly surprised! The cleanliness of the restaurant, the swift customer service and the quick delivery of food to me while I sat outside in the sun were all quite welcomed. I ordered a cup of the homemade New England Clam Chowder which was creamy and hot and the right ratio of clams to extras. Meh. I tasted the lobster roll, and it was too ground up for my taste, i like chunks of meat with a little mayo/oil. I got the salad with seared tuna. It was just lettuce with a nice portion of tuna. The prices are up there, and i pretend they are warrented because the seafood is local but i doubt it. The girl who takes and delivers your order is nice but seems overwhelmed. What a waste of a great location and fresh seafood. This (expensive) seafood shack is located on a major thoroughfare. It is has all the traffic in the Southampton world driving past it. Why was it empty when we went there on a hot summer weekend? Let me give you one great reason: The service is an abomination. Not just because the food is pricey and one should expect competent service to go along with it. The service was abhorrent, appalling, atrocious, horrendous, horrid, horrifying, and many other words that one can find in the thesaurus. My girlfriend does not eat shellfish -- she is allergic. So we walked up to the hostess/cashier - a young (seemingly) Eastern European woman - and asked what non-shellfish options were worth exploring. She had no idea. Not only did she confess to not having tasted the fish on the menu, she acted like the question was burdensome. Each subsequent question was met with another round of eye rolling. I felt like reaching across the counter, wringing her neck, and yelling "Why are you ruining your owner's business???" The food was actually pretty decent. For $15 or so bucks, I would have liked more than six or seven clam strips on my roll, and maybe a little less greasy, but the roll and all its component parts were definitely fresh. My girlfriend opted for tuna, and it was moister than she was expecting (thank goodness for low expectations!) The New England clam chowder was rich, salty and clammy (all in good ways), but the bacon was limp; it needed a few more minutes of rendering before the wet ingredients were added. If I had it my way, I would buy the place (with the money I don't have), teach amazing customer service to the employees, and then bask in the glow of good food and happy customers. East End Clambake is my new favorite summer spot for lunch or maybe even dinner now that i think about it. Coming from the City you can stop by and eat outside it's perfect for those summer days in the Hamptons. My husband and I stopped on our way to Watermill this past weekend and I must say I had the best Lobster roll!! It was so fresh and perfect just what I needed for the start of the Summer season out in the Hamptons. My husband tried the seared tuna wrap and clam chowder. Let me just say Amazing!! I would highly recommend this place. The seafood was outstanding and the staff was very pleasant as well. As I was leaving I also noticed they did catering too. After driving past this quaint little shack on County Rd 39, my husband and I decided to finally stop by to grab a bite to eat. I decided on the fried flounder platter which gave me the choice of french fries or corn. I went with the corn and I was definitely satisfied with the platter! The flounder was local and as fresh as it gets! My husband chose the seared tuna appetizer and the lobster roll. He said the seared tuna was well cooked and the lobster roll was one of the best he has had. On top of that, the staff was friendly, polite, and were able to answer any of the questions we had. My girlfriend and I stopped in on our way out to Montauk for the weekend we got out Thursday to beat the traffic and saw the place was open. It wasn't to busy they have like 5 tables outside we got 2 medium lobster rolls and drinks. Waited about 10 minutes not to long. The price seemed high but the owner told us most places don't use all lobster meat and have fillers. The meat was chunky and mayo wasn't overwhelming which we loved. Now when we head to the Hampton's we will make sure to stop by! They let us sample some lobster bisque the owner just made and it was delicious!
