Been coming here since I was a little girl. If you want the best wings in Waterbury come here. You don't even need sauce that's how good they are. Today I ordered home fries and corned beef hash. Home fries were soft and tasty but next time I'll ask for them to be a little more well done. The hash was okay nothing to call home about. This place is a hidden GEM!! Found this breakfast spot after shopping in the area. Everyone there is so kind and goes out of their way to provide excellent service. This is definitely a place to get a quick bite to eat. A "hole in the wall" kind of place. The food is good maybe a 4/5 but the lighting in the restaurant just throws you off like the food isn't good. We ordered pancakes, French toast which was good. I ordered a pastrami sandwich with bacon with no bread ... very delicious. Customer service is ok but can be better. It's simple. You order, they bring the food in about 10-15 mins, and they come back in about 10-15 mins to ask if you're ok then you pay. Not fancy but good food. read more

The plaza location is rather shabby BUT don't let that deter you. East Gate Luncheonette is a great place for lunch! I was extremely surprised--the menu is fairly basic, but the quality is excellent. Fresh, hot food in a clean, old school, diner-like setting. Friendly wait staff was helpful in answering questions. Highlights: my order--grilled chicken wrap with peppers and onions, (no thanks to the cheese) and ranch dressing on the side. Tasty fries, coleslaw, or pickled beets are side choices. That might sound pedestrian, but it was the most flavorful wrap I've had in ages. Fellow diners enjoyed a corned beef on rye, grilled chicken on a hard roll, and an Italian sausage sandwich special. Rice pudding (with or without raisins) for dessert was rich and creamy. Heavenly! Three of us shared the very generous portion. While we were there, the owner took a break from the kitchen to say hello to regulars and make a pass through the dining area. The friendly greeting and a smile for diners... Nice touch! Delicious food, attentive service, reasonable prices, friendly neighborhood vibes, plus clean and tidy surroundings make this a winner all the way around. Good food on the cheap on The East End of Waterbury! I've spent many of a Sunday morning waiting for a table here! There is a fairly large apartment complex right next door and this place can get a little hectic! It's worth your time as far as I am concerned! These guys make really great diner fare! So expect really good omelettes, burgers, hot dogs, turkey clubs etc. it's basically the menu of my after church on Sunday and early mornings at college existence! Set neatly between other businesses in a strip mall. I found the place inside a little darkly lit, but then I came in during the early dinner time noon sun of the day. After my eyes adjusted, I was fine. My daughter and I ordered a cheeseburger, Spanish omelette, and coffee. See photos below. The cheeseburger was inexpensive, and delicious. The Spanish omelette had salsa which my daughter didn't particularly like, but that's just a personal preference. She still liked her meal. Lots of booths. Was driving to work in the morning and stopped by. The restaurant seemed clean and well kept. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll to-go. The server was really nice and friendly. My order was done really quick. The sandwich came out to be about $5, which is a typical price for a diner. The sandwich was very very good! The poppy seed roll was toasted, the cheese was perfectly melted, and the bacon was just the right amount of crispy. I highly recommend this place for breakfast! read more

My family and I was there a few days ago after my brothers graduation. Got to our table, i looked down and saw all the trash swept back of our boot. Didn't make a fuss about it, now time to order. Now here's where people are going to respond with ignorance but I'm Muslim, we of course ordered food that doesn't contain meat. My little brother got his plate and found bacon in his food. Told them about it, they took back the plate and put in the order again. Same thing again, spoke to them about it and they said that they cook the home fries and bacon in the same oil and they didnt notice the bacon in our fries. With that we all basically lost our appetite & barely could eat. My cousin and I used to order from there quite some a few years ago & may i say the quality of the food now is really poor compared to back then. What a great find! This little place is literally a hole in the wall--a narrow little storefront in a nondescript strip mall--but people were waiting outside for a table when we pulled up at noon on a Sunday. Luckily the tables turned over quickly and we barely had to wait five minutes. The interior is classic American diner with booths and a small counter with stools. The staff were super fast and friendly. We had our drinks within two minutes of sitting down and food within less than ten minutes of placing our order. The menu is breakfast (pancakes, omelets, French toast) and lunch (tons of sandwiches, including a wide selection of triple-decker clubs and deli sandwiches.) we were in the mood for breakfast so we ordered a western omelet (served with home fries and toast) and blueberry pancakes with a side of eggs over easy. The omelet was chock full of veggies and cheese and was perfectly done; the home fries were fantastic (chunks of baked potato refried to crunchy deliciousness) and the blueberry pancakes were tender and buttery, full of blueberries, not too dry or thick. The eggs were just right: perfectly done, buttery but not greasy. Judging from the clientele, this is a popular local institution, though a visitor might never notice it in it's innocuous surroundings. Highly recommended. read more

Looking around for Valentine's morning breakfast proved as challenging as the opening of "Easy Money". After a few false starts and a desire to avoid Denny's or IHOP, we found East Gate, a small luncheonette in a strip mall off the beaten path. The teeny vestibule barely contained the waiting groups of diners and the constant opening of the front door chilled us to the bone. So when we finally sat down, with only about 30 minutes to order, eat and get on our way, we were all starving. The friendly servers were quick without rushing us. The food arrived in a decent amount of time and what we got was superb. Perfectly prepared omelets, pancakes and egg platters filled, but not overflowing. My bacon and cheese omelet was cooked perfectly, with the bacon inside crisp, but not charred. A side of toast and potatoes was a great compliment and filled me. My daughter's chocolate chip pancakes were huge and delicious. The price of $30 for the 3 of us was completely reasonable and with quality this good, I'll be back. read more
