I have been to East Penn Diner only for breakfast. I'm dying to try their lunch and dinners! Breakfast is delicious, great homefries, crunchy toast and real eggs! Their prices you cannot beat, I've never spent more than $20 for breakfast. The parking can be a little tough because the parking lot is tight. The waitresses are nice but the last time I ate breakfast there, our waitress disappeared for at least 15 minutes. I asked the other waitress who got us our coffee first to please bring us the check and she gladly did. Another plus is that this is one of the cleanest diners I have been to! Not a single crumb or stain on the booths and the floors look spotless. The plates, cups and silverware are also very clean. I love this diner for a quick bite! read more

This is the worst diner in the area. The service has always been good, but the food is awful. They can't even get diner basics (like a patty melt or omelette) correct, the portions are small for the price, and the coffee is terrible. I'm not sure it even *is* coffee, being as it neither looks nor tastes like what the rest of the world calls coffee. What a fantastic little find just outside of Allentown. I'm a sucker for a good diner so imagine how happy I was to find a real deal dinner in Emmaus. The place has ample parking and the interior decoration is perfect. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and I got a table right away for a quick dinner. I ordered the wings and the waffle cut fries, and neither of those dishes disappointed. The waffle cut fries were perfectly seasoned and fried with a side of ranch, and the wings were just the right amount of spicy without being too hot. The owner came by twice to check on me and was about as pleasant as you could ask for in a person. I'd happily come back here to try more of their dishes (or just the same thing because it was so good) next time I'm passing through the area! read more

The foods great don't get me wrong but our waitress started getting frustrated and rude just because we wanted more jalapeños? Like we have no problem paying extra for jalapeño but for you get upset is really uncalled for. We are paying customer we should be treated like one. Seriously over us wanting Jalapeño? This place has really gone down hill! We have been coming here for years and don't understand what happened. Never had anything bad to say and in fact back in 2014 I wrote a 5-star review. We have been here twice in the last few weeks and last nights experience prompted this review. We usually go after middle shift around 1130p-12a at night but occasionally get breakfast and take out. The guy who seats us is very pleasant and appears to be hard working. We were one of only two tables in the entire place last night at about 12am. The host grabbed our drinks for us. The server, I believe her name was Debra came over and asked us what we wanted to drink but told her he had taken our drink orders. There was no offer to take our food orders and she just walked away. She was walking around then playing on the POS system.. Not quite sure what she was doing but it was at least 15mins until she came over to take our orders. We were very close to walking out at this point.. But after a long day I was hungry and talked my girlfriend into staying. My girlfriend was frustrated and only ordered green tea. I ordered a chicken cordon blue (sp?) sandwich with waffle fries and mozzarella sticks for us to share. Green tea is hot water in a mug and a tea bag. It took this woman at least 10 minutes of putzing around to bring her the green tea! The food took probably another 15 minutes which wasn't terrible time but not good either bc we had been sitting there so long. Both the appetizer and my meal came out together! That is just not cool anywhere you go. She didn't even have the correct order! She came out with a chicken parm sandwich and chips! Not even close to what I ordered. There were 4 small mozzarella sticks on a plate of brown nasty chopped lettuce that looked days old! What cook sends food out like that?You can't screw these up so at least the mozzarella sticks themselves were ok although they must be cutting back because I am pretty sure we used to get more then 4! THERE WASN'T EVEN ANYONE ELSE IN THE DINER but yet our drinks sat empty and she didn't even come by to apologize or anything! Even I was starting to get angry! We are very easy going people and never gave her a hard time even though we were super frustrated with the service. I guess we were just tired and wanted to finish up and leave! She finally brought out the correct meal probably 15mins later. Towards the end of my meal I kept finding small hairs, YES HAIR IN MY FOOD! It makes me sick because who knows what the f*ck this was!? I stopped eating what was left and asked for the check. The check had $6.09 for the 4 tiny mozzarella sticks! Either this was wrong or they are totally ripping customers off!? What a joke! She even still had the chicken parm sandwich on the bill and not the correct order. This server was a complete air head and it was no use even trying to complain or deal with it. We were tired from working all day and extremely frustrated by our experience here! We just wanted to leave, so we paid and left! To sum things up I WILL NEVER, NEVER BE GOING BACK TO EAST PENN DINER! This Debra has NO business being a server! Who knows what the deal was with the cook sending out mozzarella sticks with brown lettuce. AND who knows what the deal was with the hair in the food. According to their online menu the mozzarella sticks are $4.99 NOT $6.09 and i'm sure we should have gotten more then 4 pieces! But who knows!? OVER CHARGED, BAD SERVICE, HAIR IN THE FOOD.. Just nothing good to say about this place anymore. Its a shame because it is open 24/7 and used to be an excellent place! DO NOT GO HERE.. SAVE YOURSELF THE FRUSTRATION! read more

Located in the former Emmaus Diner, they have updated this silver diner with new seating, tiled walls and such. As in most diners, breakfast served all day. The service is good, since they recently opened, but the food is only average. They could work harder at delivering better food or otherwise they will be no different than any other diner in the area. Their plus right now, is that they are open 24 hours. read more

The new East Penn Diner is in the location of the old Emmaus Diner which was closed quite while ago. The entire diner was gutted and redone - which it needed! It is now very clean with a typical diner feel and offerings. I was here for breakfast twice. The first time, there were some staffing issues as I think they just opened. My food was average. Today the staffing was straightened out. We were seated and served promptly. Food came out of the kitchen pretty quickly. Again, the food was good but did not blow me away. My server also was prompt, but not too friendly. In my opinion, they need to distinguish themselves from other average diners before falling into that category. Haven't really been here in a while. My husband and I went for breakfast early morning before starting to pack to move. Our waiter, a tall gentleman, was very nice and friendly- my husband even said he was great. I ordered the Mexican Eggs Benedict. It was awesome. Chili is really good, eggs done perfectly. Had enough for leftovers for lunch today and still really good. Definitely improving. Not impressed with some of the "management", lady there yesterday was just sitting around, talking loudly about who knows what. Not very professional. Terrible!! Food was nasty, on the plus side, it was open during a snow storm; unfortunately for us.

I'm giving this a three because I've eaten here before with no problem. Not so, tonight. Strike one: stuck in a corner behind the noisy coffee area and left twenty minutes by an indifferent server. Strike two: They were out of two staple items we ordered before 6 pm. Strike three: Watching tables who arrived after us leave before we got our entrees. I'm guessing this is because the waiter was a regular at their tables. Pluses: when the food did arrive it was above average for a diner. The baked potatoes were perfectly cooked. I had ribs, my partner confirmed his chops were good. For dessert we ordered Zango fried cheesecake and white chocolate blueberry cheesecake. Both were awesome. Bottom line, I would come back. Other visits at quieter times have been better. I think I'm going to chalk this one up as a one-off bad night. read more

I had what was literally the worst dining experience of my life at this diner last evening / early this morning. My expectations of late night dining are never very high as I work in the restaurant industry so I'm aware that there are usually few employees taking care of however many guests happen to come in. It was not busy by any means when my friend and I entered, there were maybe 4-5 tables of two. The server greeted us in a non-friendly manner. I was delivered a Pepsi that had practically no syrup in it and had to wait 15 minutes for a new one. We ordered breakfast and a bowl of french onion soup. Our server never wrote down our order. About 30 minutes later the server walked out with the wrong food, back into the kitchen, and then returned with the french onion soup which looked like it was sitting in the window for at least 10 minutes - cheese was burnt. We then heard the table behind us get their food and the gentleman said "well it's about time, we were about to go in there and get it ourselves." Clearly we were not the only ones who were unsatisfied. She then delivered ONE of our orders. 10 minutes later delivered the other meal (half cold) and apologized for the mistake, letting us know the meal would be "on her." After we ate, she delivered our check which still had both meals and the soup on it, and explained she was "unable to pay for the meal," but suggested we just not tip her. This place needs a better late night server, as this one clearly cannot handle her own. Also, don't EVER walk up to a table and take their order without writing it down and then screw it up. If she would've taken the two seconds to write everything down (even though it was two orders and a soup), I'm sure this horrid experience could've been avoided. If I could give zero stars, I would. Worst service of all time, and I will likely not return. read more
