However, yesterday, my wife and I wanted a burger and wanted to call in the order and pick it up. This is my new favorite diner. If you want breakfast all day or some scrumptious baked goods, give this place a try. I had the French toast and scrapple when I was here. They put vanilla in the French toast and it was perfect- not dry, rich, and golden brown. My scrapple was perfectly crispy, too. Some places don't get it crispy so i was very happy that it was done just right. Even though it was dinnertime I had breakfast because they have breakfast all day, but one of my companions had a burger and said it was delicious. This place is also impeccably clean and the staff were very friendly. My drink never got empty and I didn't have to ask for condiments or side plates for sharing the delicious waffle fries with cheese sauce and gravy that we passed around the table. Let me start here the server was nice. Place is pretty clean apparently a popular place because it was crowded. Now here's the parts I did not like and I probably will not rush to go back. If you see it on the website they probably don't have it in the restaurant. Tried to order steak and they only had 1 according to the waitress, we didn't go late so I don't understand how all the steaks went that quick, so my friend got the steak with shrimp and I just ordered the pork chops. Now my friend said steak and shrimp there was no mention of cheese being on it and low and behold his comes a whole steak with shrimp covered in cheese, it wasn't bad, but they could have kept the cheese. The taco salad not bad. The prime rib was the king prime rib for 20$ can't beat that and it was huge, but my gosh do people not like to throw a little salt and pepper on their food. Here is the part that wanted to make me give this place one star. I ordered Irish pork chops, I knew that I was getting pork chops that were covered in sauce, but instead I got 2 paper thin and when I say paper thin pork chops I mean PAPER THIN drowning in this flavorless, creamy pile of goop, that's what I got. Those pork chops were horrible, I took maybe 3 bites and pushed them to the side. I ate my sides and my French onion soup which wasn't bad. The East Penn Diner looks nice on the outside and inside too. Bathroom was rather spacious and easy to navigate a wheelchair. That's the good stuff. I brought an out of town guest along. My meal was rather AWFUL. I told the waitress the meat was like shoe leather and the second piece was just as bad - must be a poor supplier. The soup was adequate, but nothing to have about. The waitress had to be asked special for napkins (we had none), then had to be called back for utensils, since we didn't have any. It was mid-afternoon on a Friday and the staff were gathered near the cashier area just shooting the breeze. Really I expected a LOT better from this place. Facility was nice, but service was poor, and food was lousy. I did have two other fine experiences here previously, but with so many other nice options nearby, I will go elsewhere in the future. read more

Visited three times, and I think there's something in the grease that's given me a stomach ache every time. Every time I go to a diner, I ask for crispy home fries. The first and second times they were the same toastedness as the other plate. The third time, it was more toasted/burnt but it's like they steamed it afterwards to keep it warm--so the crunchiness was completely nullified anyway. Toasty steamed fries. Stopped in this restaurant for breakfast for the first time while getting my oil changed nearby. I felt like I was walking into a Hallmark movie. Decorations, music, and everyone seemed to know each other. Waitress was very pleasant and welcoming. Service was fast and food was good. A memorable experience. Stopped here looking for a family diner on our way home, was a total disappointment. Husband and daughter got steak which were over done from what they wanted. I got the broiled seafood platter. Crab cake was nasty. Big glob of whatever nasty stuffing was on top a cocktail shrimp totally not what a stuffed shrimp is. Fish wrapped around another glob of nastiness stuffing. Fish didn't taste right. I love fish and have been eating fish all my life I have never tasted anything like it. I did not eat half of what was on the plate. Later that evening I got sick. I had the Turkey dinner which basically I was unable to eat. The meat had to be cut with a steak knife, the stuffing was tasteless as was the corn and boxed mashed potatoes. A group of friends and I ate here a few days ago for breakfast. I'm not big on breakfast but my breakfast I got here was amazing. I got a breakfast croissant with home fries and scrapple. The croissant was huge and delicious. The homefries had the golden color to them, giving them a nice crunch. Best cooked home fries I had in a long time. The scrapple cooked to perfection. Service and management are efficient and cheerful. Portions are so big I usually get enough food to take home and have another full meal from the leftovers. Was told it came with Cole Slaw but didn't recieve any. If a server would have come to check these issues could have been solved. I an usually traveling in the area on weekends over the winter. This East Penn Diner has a friendly staff and ample parking. I've often stopped in for breakfast in the early AM and then again for a late night dinner close to midnight. It is always nice when the staff remembers you. The prices are reasonable and for a Diner the selection is sufficient. The 24hr open is A+ since I usually end up stopping in very late and do not have to worry about being rushed out the door at closing. Finally, the old Emmaus Diner got a well needed facelift and owners who are ready to take care of people! After getting served mold at Trivet, we've not hit very many diners. But when the parking lot of the East Penn Diner looked particularly full its first week open, I was tempted. We didn't wait more than a few minutes for a table (this place is big!), and the service was spot on. The food is on the nicer end of diner (not fine dining or craziness, but solid Americana diner). We've been a few times...everything from omelets to burgers to turkey sandwiches have been good value for the money. The fresh made desserts are particularly good. Well, it's a step up from Denny's. The food actually wasn't all that bad and I would have given it an overall higher rating if not for the service. The waitress was friendly but boy was the service slow. We sat there for a good 10-15 minutes at least before someone walked over to grab our drink orders. Once our drink orders were taken, again we sat awhile longer for them to come. Then the food order -- it seemed like forever before our food came out. The people I went with and I ordered simple wraps/sandwiches, so it wasn't as if our dishes were super complicated. I don't necessarily blame the individual waitress (maybe they were understaffed? Maybe the kitchen was slow?) but diners are supposed to be a place to grab some simple, classic American food quick. Plus: the place is open 24 hours. But I was pleasantly surprised. It had the classic diner atmosphere, modern, with booths and tables, and a counter with cake displays. Service was quick and friendly too. The food I found to be just Ok. I ordered the New York wrap with Corned beef, and it came with fries. I expected nothing less, nothing more. It was acceptable. Simply, the food was delicious, the portions were ridiculously large, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable. A breakfast for two can easily cost $15 or under. The pancakes with strawberry topping was AMAZING!!!! I went back another time and tried Eggs Benedict for the first time. Words can not express the deliciousness of that experience. I've eaten here several times since it opened. It's OK. Food of moderate quality with OK portions. The salad bar that comes with some meals is good. Without it I feel portions could be better. Just had an omelet. The home fries were very good but simply too skimpy. Overall it wasn't worth the money. Put some substance on the plate! Check the silverware closely for gunk stuck to it not adequately cleaned by human or machine. OK, one dirty knife with hardened egg yolk or cheese? Stuff happens. A visiting pal got this surprise after I had raved about this place. Embarrassing. Waitress seemed to care less. Just swapped out for another knife. No apology. Maybe this is common? Today I found again debris on the knife which I didn't need to use anyway. First thought? Yelp it. Also the waitresses are so "friendly" and bubbly as to be downright annoying. I am eating and reading but she keeps asking me how I am doing. Can't you see I am eating just fine but you are interrupting my reading again? It wasn't just once. My go to place after work to relax with coworkers and for food to go when I'm craving something on my way home. First time there was after work and it was awesome! Great breakfast food 24/7 and our server was great. We had these disrespectful kids next to us who kept throwing things and blowing there e-cigarette smoke at us. I finally had enough and said something to them and the server and who I think was the owner were right there to stick up for us. You can always call in for take out too. Over the years this place has gone down hill. I went with a friend and our 3 kids. It was obvious that our server didn't want to "deal" with us from the moment we arrived. She sat us and didn't offer a high chair or booster for the younger two, we had to tell her we needed them. Also As Covid protocols are still in place you have to ask for all your condiments separately, well we could barely find her and she didn't check on us. Little did she know I'm an excellent tipper being in hospitality industry but it greatly affected her tip with how much we felt blown off. I like this diner a lot. The food is always a good price and comes in very big portions. The bathrooms are clean and so are all the tables and counters. Also, the employees are kind and usually the food comes out very quickly. My only complaint is one time, upon ordering a veggie omelette (I am a vegetarian) I found a piece of ham in it. However this is still one of my favorite diners in the area, but if you are a vegetarian I would just recommend double checking your food before eating! read more
