I enjoy the Barn. It's fantastic what they did with the renovation process with this structure & the atmosphere. It used to be an old golf course & before that it used to be a farm & barn, obviously ha ha. The previous owners were very, very friendly golf course owners & I loved being around them & I liked golfing there w/ my family. They used to serve hotdogs & beers, and it was fun to be there. Eventually, the real estate became valuable, & they sold to a developer, & then the restaurant/barn became a wonderful place to go. They have two restaurants: the House & the Barn. This review is for the Barn. The Barn holds events, such as comedy shows, small, musical acts, and so on. The food is very very good and I appreciate the niceties of the staff. They are friendly & courteous. The only thing I have to say about why I don't give five stars is because they are not open on Sunday or Monday. Having lunch here with my son Matt, after visiting Barto, PA where St Padre Pio USA shrine and museum is located. We ordered crab Mac n cheese, their famous barn nachos and smoked pig sandwich with potato salad on the side. The barn nachos are full of mixed ingredients, smoke pig, manchego cheese, pickled jalapeños cheese sauce, sour cream and toasted tortillas. It's delicious. The toasted brioche with smoked pig's meat blended well with potato salad on the side. Taste great. The crab Mac n cheese is creamy and delicious. Nice place and good decor setting inside a real barn set-up where the bar is centrally located. Outside backyard patio tables with oversized umbrellas, overlooking a creek, nice view. Serving staff is courteous and helpful. Cost at $$ of their serving entrees are at an average size. Clean separate Men and Women's bathroom. read more

Do not waste your time!!! We were here previously, during the height of COVID and were pleasantly surprised. At the time, there was the House, which was apparently more of a formal restaurant and Barn, which was more casual. We chose to go to the Barn, since we were not really dressed for the House. Although the menu was small, we all found something and all enjoyed it very much. This was NOT the case this time around!!! When we were greeted and handed the menus, we noticed that there were like 4 pages and we were initially very excited, but this feeling quickly diminished when we realized that 3 of the 4 pages were taken up by drinks and the entertainment schedule. There was one page of dining selections. Ok... not a problem.. the first time we were here, I also remember the small menu... the problem was that there was really nothing on this menu... my one son saw the smashed burger.. which he thought sounded good... although it was $17!! (2 x 4 oz smashed patties and the side is a BAG OF CHIPS!!!). The waitress told us we could upgrade to the house made chips, so we all did that (she did not tell us that this was a $2 up-charge). My wife and other son did not see anything except the turkey sandwich... My third son and I got the crab cake sandwich.. Oh.. and we got 3 appetizers which were smaller and less appealing than something you would get at a bowling alley. Pretzels, spring rolls and dumplings. There was barely enough to go around,.. Not a good start at all.. When the main courses arrived, initially they did not look bad.. but then my wife mentioned that the aioli that came with her sandwich tasted funny. My son also agreed... In addition, my son who got the crab cake mentioned that he was not feeling well after he finished. I was going to ask to speak to the manager after the $160 bill came (and I did a double take and asked my oldest son to check it), but at that point, we just wanted to leave. Rating is on quality of food and atmosphere but prepare to pay through the nose. $13.50 for just cheeseburger with standard toppings. Fries (handout but thin) are $6.00. Burger was good and cooked to order. Limited draft beer menu with nothing spectacular. The Brussels were very good. Went there when it first opened and had a really good Cesar Salad with fresh not-so-salty anchovies and smoked potato salad. Well if something tastes good enough to return, then you order it again during your next visit. The Cesar this time had anchovies out of the can (rather than fresh) which is salt city. The smoke potato salad wasn't as good and we ordered the beef jerky as an app. When I hyped this place up to my in-laws who came along and boy was I embarrassed. Never again will I return. I've only been here once and I was not sure if I should give it three or four stars. Decor is rustic and charming. Although, as someone has suggested communal tables may be a nice addition. Country music was playing and I think that was off. Hipper music should be played. Menu was fun bar food but missing some essential items such as a burger or wings. When we asked about that, we were told the building could not accommodate a fryer. The apps were very good, nachos were delicious, the pretzel bites had an amazing cheese dip, and the cauliflower which was billed as being spicy was not spicy. Our server was good but there was too much time between apps and entrees. My Rachel sandwich was large and tasty but if the pastrami needed to stand alone it would not be smoky enough. It needed some more flavor, but paired with Cole slaw and dressing it was good. My daughters duck sliders were more than ample. I would return and try again, it was a good experience. read more

We went there because we heard they have good burgers. We gave the waitress instructions to bring the appetizers out then wait to put in our meals. We were told that it was doable. The drinks came then our meals. We asked where are our appetizers? They asked if we still wanted them. Well we would not have ordered them if we did not want them. We did it that way because we were hungry. We ate when I realize that they gave me the wrong meat. Facts- don't place your meal at the same time. Double and triple check your meat. I ended up paying the higher price due me eating most of it because of being hungry. I should also mention that we had three people who served us. I will NOT be going there any time soon. read more

Service was ok but the server didn't order 1 person's food nor 1 person's drink (happened to be the same person) so he had to go to the bar to order it. Food was ok, but quite disappointed that the food was served on paper plates. When we asked for plates to share food, those were real plates. So I'm not able to speak to much food wise. Crab Mac and Cheese was a big hit, my Nachos were a big letdown (for me). I was told it is their most popular plate... Honestly? Kinda disappointing. I believe the place has some heart and soul to it, which is totally vital, but the food (vegan chili, nachos, pretzel bites) left a lot to be desired. The jalapeño spicy beer was incredible, though. This place is warm and comfortable and all of its minor issues could be fixed with a bit of tweaking and adjusting, but it's worth mentioning that improvements could be made. I think I could be back. Pretty bad! Who want's to sit at a table by yourself and talk only to your date or wife? Bad planning here all the way around. This town is so desperate for restaurants, people are still showing up here? For what? There's a tiny little 3 chair bar. 3 chairs! Wtf? All these people had to do is copy 1760 and be done with it. So I was forced to quietly sit with my date and talk only to her for an hour while we ate horrible heavily breaded sandwiches. That's the entire menu, beer, soup and odd sandwiches. Not very good sandwiches either. I'm assuming millennials like to sit and chat in a quiet room while eating bad food? Not me. This has become the new neighborhood favorite for after work drinks and the food does not disappoint either. At its start, The Barn had a few service issues with food coming out at odd times and incorrectly, but once the kinks had been worked out, this place is stellar. The outdoor seating in warmer weather is wonderful and the indoor barn area is super welcoming and lovely. The cocktails are always made well and while they can feel a bit pricy for the Macungie area (though not if you compare them to other upscale bars like Trapp Door), they are worth the money. I helped plan/manage a holiday party here in December 2016 and I have to say the staff was attentive, friendly, so helpful, and very professional. We had a few birthday we sprang on them and they scrounged around for candles and did everything they could to make our experience a great one. We had around 16-20 people in the front "corral" area by the bar and everyone had plenty of room to mingle, chat, and be out of other patrons' way. All in all, I'm very excited to see The Barn grow and look forward to going each time I make the trip. read more

We have been to the quaint little basement bar several times but it seems that each time is a different bartender and with each new one the quality, friendliness, service and just plain being present gets worse. The last two times it felt that we were an inconvenience to their evening (two different female bartenders) and that they were too interested in what was happening somewhere behind the bar because they kept disappearing for chunks of time and would come out for an obligatory check up and disappear again. A lot of potential here if that can get the right person(s) working it. read more

Be very careful! We had an ok meal. The music was so loud at 630 pm we had to leave. The check came and of course we did not have our cheater glasses on. Look at tip suggestions- first one is 75% tip. We asked the waitress do you know this and she said "Absolutely!" We tend to be good tippers but 75%? We have been trying to not go to chains to keep business alive but this is highway robbery!! Be careful if you are in a hurry, no glasses or drank a little too much. The Barn is a nice somewhat upscale restaurant and bar located inside an old barn that formerly served as a golf course starter shop. The remodel is very well thought out and the general feel of the restaurant is welcoming and inviting. During each of our visits to the Barn we have had positive experiences with the staff and found the restaurant itself to be fine. That being said, I do think that the menu is somewhat weak and there are some holes within the offerings that would make the entire place more inviting. Having visited a couple of times I have enjoyed the pulled pork in the form of the Smoked Pig and the Barn B Q Nachos and my wife enjoyed the Mushroom sandwich. That being said the menu is small and somewhat limiting. Not having some classics present on the menu has been continually disappointing. Items like french fries, a rustic burger, or more vegetarian options would be welcome additions. In general the space is nice and the staff is friendly but the menu is still lacking enough substance to make it a place that we will visit on a semi-routine basis. read more

BUYER BEWARE My husband and I had dinner at the Barn last night as we have passed this restaurant many times and finally decided to give it a try. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Salad and received a plate full of spinach (not kidding, it looked like a whole bag dumped on my plate), and four(4) small rolled pieces of smoked salmon. When I told the waitress that the proportions were off and I did not want to eat spinach all night, she told me it was a "hearty" salad (although this was not mentioned in the description), and there was "nothing wrong with it". I refused to eat it, and they REFUSED TO TAKE IT OFF THE BILL. That's right, we paid $12 for something I didn't eat. My husband argued with them, but they refused!!! Anybody ever hear of that???? Wow, what a great night. My husband I had dinner at the House, we did not get to go to the barn. The house seemed very small. It's like having dinner in someone's living room, so that might not be for everyone, but it's fine with me as long as the food is good, and yes indeed it was. We started with a few appetizers, and my only problem with them were that they were too small. We had the goat cheese croquettes and they were AMAZING! But they were small and there were only 3, so it's hard to share, it broke my heart to have to cut one in half to share with my husband. I would have been thrilled if there were 4. We also had the mushroom spring rolls. They were also delicious. Everything we had was. Had the Farmers salad, again, small but delicious. Oh and the drink had had was soooooo good. It had bourbon, something orange flavored and topped with a piece of candied bacon. OMG. Also, the bread and butter they give you to start with was perfect. I wish I could buy the butter to use at home. For our entree we both had the salmon. I got mine cooked through, my husband had him (as the chef feels it should be cooked) and they were both cooked to perfection. The mushroom puree complimented it perfectly. Then we splurged on the chocolate dessert. 4 tiny pieces of different chocolate. Very good. I can't wait to go back. Also as were leaving the hostess, who was super sweet, grabbed us and posed us in front of their beautiful Xmas tree and took a few pictures of us with my phone. I thought that was really nice. Other patrons showed up and "forgot their mask" and were allowed to walk around the establishment without wearing masks. Ok. Honest review time. This place has a hype around it. And it failed to live up to it. Big time. I tried. I really did. Did a started course with the wife. Duck sliders. They were bland. The duck is a hearty and lean meat. It comes across as tough. On the plus side, they were a very nice portion size. My main course was the spare rib sandwich. Under whelming. Came to me lukewarm. The pickled carrots and sauce were the best part. Wife ate the pork sandwich. Dry. Tomato soup as the side. I sware that soup tastes like it's from sysco or another similar brand. I will say, that the server did indeed try her best. She was attentive. I think she had the entire restaurant for the lunch service. I didn't voice my opinions to her and maybe I should have. The left over half of my sandwich was really great as a late night snack. I just hydrated my beef and popped it back on the bread. Can't wait to go back! We went for lunch and tried the Garden Grilled cheese with a side of tomato bisque. Both were very good as was the presentation. The ingredients were quality and the combination of flavors was great. We had to try the Shoefly Pots de Creme and it was delicious. What a creative dessert, well done. The building is really amazing, well done. A barn style can be dark but there was plenty of natural light. If there is anything to criticize it would be the service which was not bad but not good either. read more

Not sure why the bartender was so slow...it wasn't very busy at this time. We had to ask for silverware. Started with the house made chips and horseradish sauce. A nice serving and quite tasty....and finally a good amount of sauce. Next we tried the sirracha cauliflower....EXCELLENT...and I don't even like cauliflower. The food was good but not as many options on the menu as I would have liked but the atmosphere and the service were great. There are more unique options so if you are picky this may not be the place for you but I would imagine they would make adjustments. What a cool vibe and decor this place has. Quaint, rustic old farm house turned into a fantastic restuarant. We had the siracha cauliflower, pretzel bites, and deviled eggs for appetizers. The cauliflower and pretzel bites were good, no issues. But the deviled eggs?? Possibly life changing! The egg is incased in a delicious deep fried coating, the yolk is mixed with ranch and spices and on the top of the outside of the egg, that's then topped with bacon. My God these things were awesome! The pulled pork, short ribs, potato salad, and chicken tortilla were all well thought out flavors and delicious. Service was prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable about menu and ingredients. Dinner with 3 apps, 4 meals and 3 alcoholic drinks was 110 plus tip. read more
