Lovely neighborhood cafe a block away from downtown Lafayette. Very cute outdoor patio area to sit or you can grab a seat inside on the main floor or upstairs. Popped in here after going to the farmer's market and ordered an iced matcha and apple cinnamon muffin. The barista was super friendly and recommended I try the matcha with 1/2 vanilla 1/2 blueberry syrup and topped with blueberry whipped cream. Decided to give it a try and I'm really glad I did - it was delicious. The muffin was also amazing. Love all of the local art adorning their shelves and countertops. read more

While traveling to Denver, we decided to stop in for a drink and hang out. There is plenty of seating inside and out. Inside was well maintained and decorated well, their wall of local-made pottery for sale caught my attention! There was a large influx of people that had just placed orders, and even then it did not take too long for our drinks to be made! We shared a charcuterie pack, I really enjoyed the dill cheese inside of it! It was a nice addition to a white cheese! I had a caramel iced latte and it was delicious, not too sweet and not too milky. If/when I visit, I know I'll be stopping by East Simpson Coffee Company again! read more

East Simpson Coffee was an amazing start to our day! We learned about it from reviews left in the guest book at our AirBnb. It did not disappoint. The staff were extremely welcoming! My husband and I had breakfast sandwiches, which were good. My latte was also quite yummy! The best part is their cozy patio with both sun and shaded areas. After coffee we strolled around the area. Great local coffee shop for meeting with friends. On a corner in Old Town Lafayette in a two-story house transformed into a gathering place. The outdoor space is amazing with lots of tables and seating and even a fire pit for when it's chilly. Coffee is good. For the summer they have the cold brew at the counter with the cream and sugar which is convenient but not great if you want ice in your cold brew. Pastries are good with a limited selection. I don't find it a great place to work because the wi-fi (and my AT&T cellular) signals are almost non-existent. read more

I got a bacon quiche and while the quiche was delicious (as always), my salad was entirely soggy and wilted. I asked for another salad, which was also entirely soggy, the lettuce had clearly become frozen and thawed out. Most of the salad still had ice on it. Didn't really feel like testing it for a third time so I just tossed the 2nd salad as well. Everything else was amazing but getting two bad salads was disappointing. read more

Approved payment for drink purchased and then 4 days later they increased the initial payment. Was notified by an email from my bank that the price was increased on their end. This wasn't for a tip I approved. They added their own. Called them and the woman was very rude which reflected similarly to when I went in to order. I can't recommend them...I have tried several times. any business that adds their own tips to an order days is a no go in my books...also isn't that illegal? read more

I love love love this amazing coffee shop!!! Obviously the coffee is amazing but so are the teas and my personal favorite; the dairy free hot chocolate!! Omgosh so thick, chocolaty and not too sweet. It's better than my homemade. Add to that the array of baked goods and breakfast items tailored to entice everyone's palates. Service is hit or miss depending. I've had fantastic friendly and I've had snooty indifference. I've not had outright nasty service ever. The ambiance is so laid back with books and plentiful seating and that amazing porch. If I was a young 20 something in college I'd definitely be here often doing schoolwork. All in all I come here every chance I get. The strawberry and chocolate croissants are freakin awesome!! This was a beautiful start to my morning. I was traveling in the area for work, so I had no experience with the neighborhood or other coffee shops around. Nice small town location with outdoor seating, very walkable area. I ordered a muffin and a hot matcha latte. The muffin was subpar (but I still ate it!) and the matcha was great! Why does East Simpson Coffee Company always have a crowd? 1. The coffee is great. They seem to use OZO coffee, which if you are from Colorado, can vouch is a spot on cup of Joe. On top of that, they have plenty of options for our more adventurous coffee lovers. With an array of homemade simple syrups, you could splash up your day with a little Rose, Vanilla, Lavender, Cinnamon, Honey and more. Don't love a latte, they had all of your classic espresso options: Cortado, Macchiato, Cubano, etc. I went with an ole fashion latte with a hint of Cinnamon. The sweetness level was just what I asked for, but what blew me away was the artwork on top of my latte. It may have been the best leaf I've seen! 2. The food option is VAST! I saw scones, croissants, torts, pies, breads, pre-made breakfast burritos, paninis and GF options. For me, the ham & cheese croissant was calling my name. If you're cool with it, they will pop it on the grill to make it warm. My advice, "DO IT." It's a sweet buttery baby of crunch and flakiness that your body will thank you for later. 3. The service team is a bunch of allstars. I was happily greeted by a super kind barista to take my order, then given my drink by another super kind barista. They both had a comfortable energy that made you feel seen as more than just a customer. 4. The atmosphere is cozy! It's built in what looks like an older home, however, they've renovated it to be quite open and inclusive for whatever their customer's desire is. They have common workspace areas for remote workers, smaller tables for friends, as well as, a grand outdoor patio with fire pits in the fall/winter and umbrellas in the summer/spring. I grabbed my order to go, but I'm looking forward to going back in the future and enjoying one of these areas. read more

Love the ambience in this place. We sat outside on a warm day under the big tree and I wanted to spend all day there. The fact that it's in a neighborhood is wonderful; adds to the quiet, peaceful vibe. Parking can be a little difficult, unless I missed a designated area for the coffee shop. I had a chai and it was good. Friendly service. I would've given five stars, except that the wait was very long in line to order and then another long wait to pick it up. That's because they're really popular, but by the time we found a parking space pretty far away and then ordered and waited for our order, it was almost 40 minutes before we were sitting down with our drinks. That was at 9:30 on a Wednesday, so I figure that they must be busy most of the time. Having said that, the vibe is great and the people are great and I can see why it's so popular. I just have to have more time available when I go. read more

Quaint and quiet spot within a neighborhood where my daughter and I stopped in for a bite. We split a pesto chicken grilled sandwich for lunch and chocolate cheesecake muffin for dessert. And wow! Finally made it in on a snowy afternoon with my autistic human. What a great spot. As everyone says in their review, the atmosphere is amazing. The staff wonderful. Honestly, it reminds me of what Boulder used to be and it warms my heart. Love the artwork all over the walls. Having several communing areas is fabulous with the quieter area upstairs with a small conference room type space with a door for privacy. The table and chairs all over the front and backyard are great for those warm weather winter days and of course during the summer. We had hot cocoa and honestly, it's been ages! Deep chocolate flavor and consistency; not some watered down version. There are mugs, clothing etc for purchase as well. Highly recommend! read more

Seriously? Over $8 for a single piece of gf cake that was just "ok". It wasn't until I paid that I realized the prices are not publicly posted for breads/cakes, so ASK first. When I asked where these prices are posted the cashier smiled and shrugged and said (motioning to the cash register), "just in here?" Uuhhhh. Okaaayyy?And the owner us fine with this? Total sticker shock, and it's not spectacular cake. Two stars because coffee is decent. Limited seating. Don't go upstairs because the stink up there is terrible. The new spot doesn't have the same cozy feel as the original location but, it's now bigger and has more seating so despite my resistance to change, I'm still giving it five stars. I absolutely love their new location just a couple blocks away from the original one, in a building where the Lafayette Town Hall was at some point. The outdoor area is amazing with lots of space and plenty of shade; very relaxing and comfortable. There is also a large front porch welcoming you with a few tables. Last time I went, the barista was super friendly and you could tell he is passionate about his craft.  We ended up chatting a little because I asked about a swan he made with the foam of my friend's latte (check out the picture!).  It's also the first time I am asked if I want my cappuccino dry (means more foam and less steamed milk he told me) or wet.  Impressed! Look at their website for events: Art sale, live music, food trucks, toddler music class etc.  And they've kept their previous location (now The Hive at East Simpson) for private events. First time visiting this coffee shop. The tipping options are in descending order from left to right as an attempt to trick their patrons into reflexively selecting the highest percentage. We asked for our food togo but they came out on plates. The quiche came out first and they allowed another customer to grab it and walk around with it for 2-3 min before getting him to put it back. When I got up to retrieve it (could barely hear the expediter calling out hot plates that needed to be picked up) I mentioned that this other guy had walked around with it for several minutes. The employee responded with "do you want me to uh uh uh...(turns to the other customer) well did you touch it?" Exasperated with the whole thing I told her it was fine and took our food. Very unwelcoming establishment. Won't be back. Also the man who appeared to be the owner or manager wearing the Rastafarian bonnet couldn't lift a finger to help his employees. Coffee is about a 6/10. Service is abysmal. Kids working there are too concerned with hanging out and chatting with their friends than work. Waited 15 mins for a coffee when there were only 2 orders in front of mine. Meanwhile, a worker made a coffee for herself to take in her break while we were waiting for our drinks. Pro: honey latte was good Con: alternative milk is a big up charge. I prefer seeing restaurants/shops evolve and at least offer alternative milk as a like for like price option, personally. Whipped cream was also an up charge. The person taking orders wrote my name down as Oliver (instead of Lou, like I said) and the barista actually yelled at me for trying to take a Lou's order when it was called out. I haven't been yelled at in a coffee shop ever so that was a fun new experience. Many other coffee shops in the area so not enough positive to bring me back to this one. read more

I came here about a year ago but never ended up writing a review back. The first time I came in I tried out a cappuccino. Probably the best coffee I have tasted. I had the chance to meet the owners Emma & Bill, so welcoming with such good souls. The atmosphere is fantastic & Amazing! I love the vibes that brings in from the outside. What's not to love? A spacious but warm coffee house in Lafayette's historic downtown. There's a big spacious porch and outdoor area with lots of shade thanks to the large trees, tables of various sizes and lots of room for everyone to spread out. There's high-top seating inside as well. I really enjoyed sitting outside in the 'yard' with my drink, having the historic home is so inviting that I plan to become a regular. A second floor has some shopping, I believe. I will have to venture up next time and check it out The coffee was delicious - I had the honey latte and regret not getting a bakery item to enjoy with it. read more
