My prior review gave this restaurant a 5 star. My current review is a 3 star. Why? A sharp increase in prices - OK, I have gotten use to that but it is accompanied by significantly smaller portions. OUCH! The yelp website shows two $$ signs for costs. That is old, very very old news. Today, I would show the cost of food as either $$$ 1/2 or $$$$. A small (very small) dinner salad at or near $10.00 and which contains maybe 2 lettuce leaves + a few cut vegetables is Pricey. What about the food? Sorry to report, not as good as before. Possibly, they have a new chef or having a bad night. The beef short ribs was a small portion, pricey, heavily covered in a brown gravy, over cooked and ordered and finished by an 11 year old girl who ordered from the adult menu. The child who is small and weighs 52 pounds ate lots of French fries and a root beer to fill up once the beef was finished. Ouch, again! Call liquor prices (Grey Goose) for martinis match up to the highest price restaurants in Denver. The ambience is still excellent as was service. If it wasn't for the later, I would have given it 2 stars. I hope they quickly get back to where they use to be because they really had a great formula of very good food, decent size portions, and reasonably fair prices for what you got within a beautiful setting. read more

We celebrated a birthday here. My party loved the oysters even though it's not my favorite. They had great cocktails as well. Courtney was our waitress and she was kind and attentive. I had the New York strip from the fall specials menu with mashed potatoes and ate every bite! everyone loved their food including the surf and turf. for dessert we had pana cota and crem brûlée which were delicious! The decor was fun and interesting. we were there at happy hour but you had to be at the bar to enjoy. the only thing I would have preferred is the steamed spinach they served with the steak dishes was unseasoned and didn't add to the meal. This is a great place to eat in Louisville. I always consult Yelp when I am in a town I've never been to before. It led me to 740 Front and what a great recommendation it was. 740 Front is located in downtown Louisville and takes reservations online. It was once a general store (I think) and has been repurposed into a beautiful restaurant. I love repurposed buildings so this was a plus for me. Service was friendly, prompt, and altogether great. The food was equally great and for a higher end place in Colorado, it was pretty reasonable. I started my meal with a wedge salad. Their version was excellent. You'd think it would be an easy salad to make and you'd be wrong. Plenty of places get it wrong. Not this place. My entree was the prime ribeye with a side of sautéed mushrooms. The mushrooms were rich and garlicky and the steak was perfectly cooked and delicious. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. If you're in Louisville and want a good meal, 740 Front should be on your list. read more

Came to 740 front for my husbands birthday and everything was so delicious! The atmosphere is very romantic a little loud by the bar area as they play sports through their projector but overall an excellent place with delicious steaks. We ordered the bison ribeye and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare, the flavor was a little sweet as expected from a bison steak it also had an interesting Smokey flavor maybe it had to do with their special butter they put on their steaks, their mashed potatoes was an excellent combination to pair with. We also ordered the prime New York strip and again cooked to perfection, super tender and juicy. The service was overall fantastic, waitress would check up every once in a while and for the first time they actually asked if it was okay to bring the food since we were still eating out appetizer, that to us was a huge bonus! This place was so good! I came here when I had family visiting the area and almost all of our food was perfect. The Seafood Salad, Bison steak, New York Strip, and Braised Short Rib were all decadent! My only complaint was the member of my party who ordered a burger. It didn't feel like a full half pound and for the price it seemed a little flimsy. The waitress, whose name I didn't catch, was the sweetest ever and made sure my party and I had a good time, constantly joking with us and checking we had everything we needed. We were seated in the basement area, which at first did smell slightly. It was kind of a mildew/musky scent but once our food came, the delicious aromas quickly took over. Had a reservation at 6pm for four. Was placed next to a party of 9 screaming young women. We could not even order or talk at our table. Other people were upset and no one cared. We complained to the waitress who said they would leave soon - right when a huge tray of espresso martinis was being delivered!? Came to this restaurant with my boyfriend for a date night. The atmosphere is lovely. I like the historic vibes in a quaint building. The decor is a mix of old and new and felt romantic. The food was good but not out of this world amazing. The Spinach and and Cheese dip is more like cheese with spinach and other veggies in it. Was good, but not at all what I was expecting. Plus, it wasn't very hot. I got the Manicotti and my boyfriend got the Meatloaf. Both were good but not the best we've ever had. The staff were all very friendly. This was the perfect way to end my Colorado trip. This restaurant has a rich history, and you could really feel it in there! Beautifully decorated and restored - it truly felt like a 1920s saloon. There's even a bullet hole in the bar from the old days! Okay now, onto the food and drinks. No joke, these were some of the best cocktails we had ever tried (and we love a good cocktail). Each one was incredibly flavorful, unique and fresh. I wish I tried every single one!! I'll say my favorite was "that basil drink". Our bartender and server, Scott, was incredibly professional and answered all of our questions before we asked them! He made some great suggestions, we were glad we took his word! The food was outstanding. Prices were reasonable and they were able to accommodate gluten and dairy allergies. I highly recommend the crab cake appetizer - it's a whole meal! I was very clear that if was my wife's birthday and wanted a nice table for the occasion. When we arrived we were taken to corner 2-top, bordered by two 6-tops, one with child. We recently had dinner at 740 Front for the first time and it was a surprisingly wonderful place to have dinner. Surprisingly, because we just didn't know about the restaurant and its rich history and unique ambiance. We just wanted a good steak at a reasonable price. I'm glad we chose this restaurant because their food was great, whether you want a steak or something else. Their prices are reasonable, and their service was the best. Our waiter was really helpful on discussing the various dishes and making really good recommendations. And the atmosphere and history was an unexpected pleasure. 740 Front St. has been around for a really long time and I've heard really good things about it but it wasn't until recently that I've actually enjoy the dinner there. It's really a cozy restaurant, I heard that they move the bar from somewhere in Europe, or replicated some thing in Europe many many many years ago it's pretty neat to look at, and it has a Lotta cool history... The service was absolutely impeccable... Not only was our server always Checking in with us. There was also a busser that also major plates were cleared. The food was absolutely stellar. We enjoyed pork and steak dishes that were cooked just perfectly.. my son and his wife enjoyed the artichoke appetizer, and it was also very delicious... As always, my experience is mostly gonna start with the service. I called ahead of our reservation and ordered a few bottles for the table and some food for me and my spouse. Wine service - everything could have been fine but my cousin messed that up by demanding to try every bottle immediately. Then she decided she didn't like any of them. The rest of us drank up! For the appetizer we had the wings. They were perfect. We were all feelin the buffalo sauce they served on the side. Just order a few for the table to avoid fights. Next up we had main courses. One of my friends ordered a burger. He said it was fine. Two of my friends ordered the seafood manicotti. They seemed to enjoy it a lot. Two of us had the short ribs. They were way too salty and ended up being sent back. Our server made it right. And then the birthday boy had the "surf n turf" plate...The steak was so tender and juicy. The crab was delicate and slightly sweet. I could have died a happy man at first bite. However, the birthday boy did not. Maybe he could have if five vultures let him enjoy his food in peace. Maybe. The place itself was very cute and nice, and I disagree with other reviews stating the staff was bad, because in my experience they were very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, I did not like anything about my meal. I got the Calamari for an appetizer and all I could taste was breading. I couldn't really even taste what was inside but I assume it was calamari since that's what I ordered. For my main dish I got the 8oz filet and ordered it Medium Rare. Truthfully I should have returned the steak because it was much closer to medium well. There was a little pink in the middle but mostly it was cooked all the way through losing all flavor. It's a shame because the price point here is very high so I was expecting them to know how to properly cook a steak. 740 Front is definitely a hidden gem in plain sight, and how lucky we were that we came upon it because the wait at our tried-and-true brunch place was too long! Determined that there is more than one game in town when it comes to the brunch scene in Louisville, we found 740 Front to have many available tables and thus, no wait. We were shown promptly to a table in the room near the kitchen and our order was taken in a timely manner. I ordered the 740 Benedict, which came with corned beef and perfectly poached eggs. This comes highly recommended by yours truly, as long as you're into the salty goodness of corned beef mixed with creamy, gooey egg yolk smothered in hollandaise sauce. My husband ordered the miner sausage skillet scramble, which had fennel pork sausage and all the melted pepper jack cheese his heart desired. It was way heartier and filling that it appeared. Our only critique was that the lattes were 6 ounces at most and made from what tasted like burnt beans. It was the smallest latte over $4 that I've ever seen. Maybe next time we'll stop by Moxie Bread for lattes before heading over here for a solid brunch. read more
