The staff was absolutely fantastic. The front desk girl was as sweet as she could be and got me checked in quickly and the other 2 techs were also kind and friendly. We have used East Valley urgent care a few times for our dogs. We like their convenient location, short wait to be seen, online scheduling, friendly vets and vet techs, affordable visits. Their front office staff is also friendly and knowledgeable. The medications are expensive in my opinion but they will gladly write you a prescription so you can take it elsewhere to be filled at a lower cost. We have found that Costco offers lower priced pet prescriptions. The place is clean and we never feel rushed. They even call a few days later to check on your pet which is nice. read more

Last night we had a older dog who was having trouble walking so we went to an Emergency Vet but waited over 2 hours and still wasn't in a room. We found EVUPC online, was able to make an appointment, drove over and got seen right away! Everyone was very kind, helpful and knowledgable. The Vet was Dr. Kulkami and she was excellent! She knew the issue and didn't push unwanted tests or procedures. Paige and Marin were our technicians and they were equally as great! We really had the best experience, I would give them more than 5 stars if I could! I wish I had found them 5 years ago! I recently visited East Valley Urgent Pet Care, and was thoroughly impressed with the practice! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by Reymie at the front desk - her friendly demeanor and efficiency set a great tone for the visit. Bekah, the vet tech, was quietly way-beyond-competent and efficient, noting all my initial concerns with great patience and attention to detail. Dr. Usiak was outstanding. She spent an impressive amount of time with us, thoroughly answering all my questions and explaining the different scenarios being considered for my 22-year-old cat (yes, in human years!). She ensured I was well-informed and comfortable with the care plan, her expertise is clearly evident, and her "bedside manner" is exceptional. I think the placement of the practice as "urgent care", between an emergency vet and your normal vet care, and making their hours overlap (10-10 during the week is perfect), and hitting that cost-effective bridge is much needed and very welcome to the East Valley! Overall, the entire staff at East Valley Urgent Pet Care made the experience a great one. I brought my shepherd in due to some leg pain following a slip. Unfortunately, it was much worse than expected. She had broken her femur badly and our treatment options were limited due to age. Even though it was not the news we were hoping to hear, the staff were attentive and compassionate, and administered pain medication and ran her imaging right away so we could make the best decision for our girl. While we were there, they made sure someone was with her at all times, and had great communication throughout. EVUPC did everything possible to keep my baby comfortable and ensure her pain was not prolonged. I am sure they see this every day, but still they managed to care, which meant a lot. They made sure I was informed and comfortable with the decision, and offered services after her passing to make the process as easy for my family as possible. Afterwards, I could not bring myself to come pick up her remains for a few days, and they could not have been more patient and understanding. While I don't recommend the experience, I am grateful that EVUPC was there to help us through it. read more

I took my six month old puppy to them because he has not eaten in two days or a bowel movement. they put down vomiting, diarrhea, and anorexia as the reason. so first off they messed up. Our dog was seen here two times for one limping and the second time for a bacterial ear infection not properly dx or received the proper medication or treatment plan. The first time Sarah Asadorian disregarded our dogs ear and the second time she actually prescribed mometazole with improper teaching of cleaning ears and ear drops. We finally were able to get into our normal veterinarian for proper treatment and a proper care plan. The thing that upsets me is that this could've been treated properly the second time around and if she gave my husband the proper medication and cleaning solution. Please be careful while using this animal hospital as our dog was miss dx multiple times limping all she said well his knee feels thick, thick as in what? Please use terms that patients will understand and take the time to educate your patients/clients on proper use of medication and also print out sheets of how to properly place medication or cleaning of ears. It isn't just installing drops into ear canal there is more to it than that. Below is a photo from our awesome veterinarian who took the time to take a culture of his ear, show us the bacterial culture of his ear, provide excellent education and a proper treatment and follow up. For his limping leg we have a dx of partial cruciate ligament tear and why he kept doing toe touching. I am disappointed with Dr. Pederson's shaming demeanor- I was accused of "denying treatment" from a vet I had seen two days prior who gave incorrect diagnosis and treatment plan. Dr. Pederson did not exam my dog, merely reiterated the same incorrect diagnosis and treatment plan after consulting with said vet (whom is not my primary, but was able to see me before I could get in with primary). Thankfully I had an appt scheduled this same afternoon with my trusted veterinarian who found the true issue. The reason I brought my dog to East Valley Urgent Care prior to my afternoon appt with primary vet was that I was very concerned about increased lethargy/weakness, but instead of receiving care and understanding, I received a shaming lecture and hostility when I mentioned I was on my way to my primary vet for a second opinion, and was only here because my primary recommended I take my dog to Urgent Care as they could not see her right away. However, while dealing with Dr. Pederson was negative, I am thankful for vet tech Hayley for showing kindness and professionalism. Hayley was great- very thankful she was there today, Hayley deserves 5 stars, Dr Pederson 0- UPDATE: I agreed to allow East Valley Urgent Care to give my dog pain meds 9 hours ago- apparently meds were enough to numb out an elephant and it's very difficult to ascertain if anything done today has been effective. My advice is do not come here unless you have completely given up hope- and if you haven't- run away.. SECOND UPDATE: primary vet found intestinal blockage, my dog had surgery Monday to remove obstruction and some damaged intestine, I brought her home yesterday with thankfully a positive prognosis. I have tried to contact the "practice manager" as requested by "Elani D" who responded to this post via PM and calling clinic directly, no one has tried to call me back or answer my message, in fact the one who answered the phone at the clinic didn't know who "Elani D" was so I am thinking Elani D is a chatbot that replies to these reviews . Long story short: If you are in need to take your pet somewhere for urgent care THIS IS THE PLACE! Short story long: I have a working K9 German Shepherd named Sabertooth. While he is smart, he is also just as dumb. Sabertooth ran into a very heavy duty golf cart which ended up running over his left rear leg & resulted in a very gruesome wound. This was Christmas Evening, while East Valley was my first choice they were closed enjoying the holiday as their hard working selves deserve. I went to a local ER, the treatment that was being performed was not working for his wound & started to go backwards in healing. I walked into EVUPC with Sabertooth & his zombie looking leg (black, dying, decay, foul smelling, muscle & tendons showing, literal zombie looking) I was so distraught for we have already spent $5000 & was unsure if at this point my working K9 was going to keep his leg. The team was immediately understanding & so compassionate. You can tell that everyone at this hospital has such a strong passion for taking care of animals & ensuring everyone gets the best care. I had to leave Sabertooth with them while they performed a minor procedure to remove the dead tissue from his zombie wound, do laser therapy & bandage him up. Dr. Usiak provided me with so much relief letting me know how well everything went, how good his wound was looking & THAT HE GETS TO KEEP HIS LEG! When I picked Sabertooth up, the whole team was loving on him & you could tell my boy was comfortable being there. I am still going back to EVUC every 3 days for a recheck on his wound, bandage change & laser therapy. Everytime I walk in, we are welcomed with smiles & by name. Hayley always checks us in, is so nice & always ask how he is doing. Steph & Xochitl are two AMAZING technicians who work with him every time are so good with Sabertooth & they absolutely love him, they even told me they look forward to seeing him each time & you know what? I look forward to seeing their beautiful faces every time too!! I have never met such compassionate hard working group of people in such a long time. Thanks to their hard work, my boy is thriving. One thing I will say is as a pet owner, please advocate for your animal. Ask questions and make sure to know why they are doing what they are doing. Don't do something just because the doctor "recommends" it. They recommend it because they want you to spend the money and they make you feel guilty if you don't because your baby is sick. They use your love for your animal to get you to spend money on unnecessary things. Don't do something just because they recommend it. What's the justification? Ask questions. Ask why. Know the rationale. My dog has been nauseated. Eating things like my carpet, clothes, blankets. Anything in attempt to force herself to vomit. I went in for nausea meds to relieve her. I was absolutely open to having an X-ray to confirm she wasn't blocked up. I was never concerned of a blockage. She's active. Happy. Playful. Eating and drinking with absolutely no issues. The issue was she was so desperate to eat anything at all while she was having retching episodes. Never actually vomited. Not once. I just knew how uncomfortable she was. Now, with that being said. They wanted me to do X-rays and blood work. Xrays I understand. But why blood work? She's not actively vomiting. She's active. She's eating and drinking. There is no reasonable suspicion of infection or electrolyte imbalance. So I said no to the blood work. I work emergency care. I get it. Triage matters. I saw the very sick and very old dog that got rolled in on a gurney. I'm understanding. My dog wasn't that sick. We just needed medications. So I waited. I was patient. I worked a 12 hr night shift right before this and I worked again that following night. So at this point, I am wanting to just go. She's still healthy to go home and I can watch her myself. All I needed was nausea meds. 11:00 comes and a tech gets me from the waiting room so I can speak with the doctor. I go into the room and this is the exchange. Tech: "it will be a while. We have a euthanasia right now". I said "ok. I worked last night. I work again tonight. I was actually debating just leaving. I can go home and wait to be given the results". Her whole demeanor and face dropped. As if I inconvenienced her. I told her that if I stay longer, I will fall asleep at the wheel and at this point, it's unsafe. She aggressively said to me "we can't control what happens in here". Ok, honey. Sorry I upset you. But when it comes to emergency care, I understand and do triage too. A euthanasia is not the same as a resuscitation. You can give me my dog and I can be on my way. I wasn't being insensitive to that dogs family. I just wanted to leave with my STABLE dog. I work emergency. I get it. You CANT control anything that walks through the door. But when I say to you that I want to take my dog home with me, I expect to be respected and allowed to do so. That is my choice. Not yours. Now with the results. I want to emphasize. Please ask your vet questions and don't let them tell you what to do. My dogs X-ray had no indication of a blockage. Not a partial blockage. The doctor I spoke with said that it was alarming but not surgical. The read said it was suspicious but not definitive due to the lack of fasting. She recommended hospitalization and IV fluids. Potentially even and unnecessary exploratory surgery. My dog is stable. There is no need for that. I did not agree with the care plan I was given. She continued to push and made me feel guilty for not agreeing with her plan of care. I still allowed subcutaneous fluids but in all honesty, I didn't even want to do that. Had I not had a medical background, I am certain this clinic would have ripped me off and I would have paid for unnecessary care. My dog had zero small bowel obstruction symptoms. She wasn't vomiting. She still passed stool. Hospitalization was too much for her condition. The doctor refused to give me nausea medications. What I originally went in for. Because she "didn't want to mask the symptoms". I went home and took care of my dog myself. She's still playful and happy. No more retching and passing stool. I saved myself thousands of dollars by purely defending myself. I unfortunately won't be back. My experience wasn't something I want to happen again. I 100% decided that when the tech decided she wanted to have a bad attitude after I was simply needing understanding of my situation. In retrospect, the doctor was very attentive, caring, respectful. It's unfortunate she had to follow such an unpleasant tech. I still think the vet should have allowed me to have autonomy over my own pet. She did make me feel guilty for leaving. Over $600 later and I wish I trusted my gut and stayed home altogether. You can't trust vets. They nickel and dime you. They want you to spend more money than you need to. It's a scam. Took in my sick basset hound today. Appointment was made easily online. All pre appointment paperwork was digitized, making checkin a 30 second process. Got to see the doctor in a matter of minutes. Staff took the time to actually interact with me and seemingly truly cared for my dog. Staff and doctor went way above and beyond expectations, without question. Pricing is a bit higher than a regular vet, but much less than an veterinary ER (a similar visit to a local ER months ago cost me almost triple what I paid today). For the convenience and availability (open Sat and Sunday and much later during the week, 9PM) I consider it a wash and would readily return and pay the slight premium. read more

My dog was scratching at his left ear, and shaking his head around 5 pm on Thursday night, I decided to call my own vet to set up appointment for the next day as they were open until 6 pm. My vet had no openings until next week on Wednesday. I called VCA emergency in Mesa, only to be told that it might be 3-5 hour wait as it non emergent. They referred me to East Valley urgent pet care. I called and was told bring him over we're not busy at the moment. The office was very clean and the staff was very friendly, check in was a breeze. We were seen quickly and given a plan of action with costs. I had never know of urgent care for pets, been to emergency vets before, sure there a little more but when you have to wait a week to see your regular vet, it's a great option to help your pet get better. read more

It was a four week wait to get into my regular vet and they suggested East Valley Urgent care. I knew that it was gonna be more expensive but my dog needed to be taken care of. She had a bad ear infection. I was absolutely impressed with his place. It is spotlessly clean. Everyone is very kind. Several people came up to my dog and gave her some Lovin, which always warms my heart, my bill was a little high but that's what you get when you go to urgent care.
