This is what they consider to be chicken karahi

Chicken and kabobs are dry. Overall, the food is pretty inconsistent (sometimes it's okay but other times it's very bad). They also scam you with takeout. Ordered karaihi to go and was given chicken drenched in oil. Super gross! If you tell the chef that there is something wrong with the food he tries to justify his cooking skills by claiming that it's fine. If he does remake something, he acts like he is doing some favor on you. Honestly, feels pretty hostile sometimes. Also, the dine in area seriously lacks cleanliness.

    Nasty potato wedges

I saw someone eating a burger from here so I decided to give it a shot due to the size of the burger...boy did I make a mistake. The burger bun was stale, the meat was dry and over spiced! It costed me $20 for two burgers and two potato wedges and wow I don't mind overpaying but the food should be good. This was a horrible experience and the food was so disgusting I tried to give it to my dog but she wouldn't go near it! The potato wedges were also baked to the point of no return and were so hard. Stick to groceries east west!

This might have been the worse desi boo fay i have had in years. The problem is the average client that eats here is a demanding pakistani pudoo who thinks they are eating and ordering back in the homeland. They shout commands at the kitchen and want to feel important. My guess this is the only place they get recognition, cause They for damn sure don't act this around goray. The chefs and employees are equally symbiotic to this savage behavior and cater to these scumbags, who for sure do not tip at all. It is the most odd cultural experience. And frankly embarrassing. The place is disgusting with unkempt tables and plastic utensils. It is kind of like eating at a failed restaurant on a side of a dirt road. Except this is indoors, and an actual restaurant. I dont know how this place passes any health inspection. The food is stale. The tikka masala had 2 pieces of chicken in it. The chef offered to add moree, but in the 30 minutes I was there no one did a damn thing. There was a decent lookking white lady in and all the employees were on her nuts catering to her. All while the shouting pakistanis walked in yelling commands. Lol The chanay were watery and no flavor. Pass The koftay (meatballs) were molested and taste terrible. The naan was generally unremarkable. Just thick tasteless bread. Eat here if you dare. Extremely subpar food, disgusting physical grounds and terrible culture from the clientelee.

    Backyard buffet?

Disclaimer: This restaurant is attached to a cool looking food store with unique, imported foods, but this review only pertains to the restaurant. For lunch, they have a very simple buffet. There are about 5 entrees, salad, and rice. The rice was clumped together and crunchy, so that was not too appetizing. The lentil and goat was cooked well, but had little flavor. It was spicy enough, but other than "spicy," there was lack of taste. The eggplant dish was very much like a sludge. Perhaps these items were cooked three hours ago, and had been sitting around since then. The chicken curry, to be fair, was quite tasty, and to feel like a buffet, I ate a huge second portion. The freshly baked naan was good, too. I felt like I was at a church picnic, as it was entirely paper plates and plastic sporks. I would return to further check out the awesome market, but I probably would skip the buffet

Always wanted to try this place out and finally got the chance today. First off the people were awesome, the food was delicious, and it had like a inside community family feel to it. Some grows I would say is that I noticed the table was not cleaned up after probably because of the short staff and the naan bread is ok compared to other naan breads I have. The garlic naan was good but still does not compare to other naan breads. I love the Samosa Chaat. Eat it quick before it gets soggy with amazing sauce.

    Chicken Kabob Wrap

I really wanted to like this place because the workers are very nice and accommodating but the food did not wow me. I ordered the chicken kabob wrap with was just meh to me. I wish it had more flavor to it. My coworker ordered the chicken masala plate which she loved and raves about. The restaurant itself has a decent amount of sitting space but the floor were very sticky. I may give them another try if I'm ever in the area.

Pricy chicken masala by itself without rice or nan.

Came here today afternoon for some chicken masala because i was craving some after i watched the movie called the exotic marigold hotel. Anyways i had to stop by and order a chicken masala take out. I asked how much and was ignored. Then i waited about 5 to 10 mins and it was ready. There were no rice or nan or anything with it. When i pulled out the container it was a small soup container. It cost 9.75 i thought it was pricy but i didn't mind since i was craving really bad. I thought that buffet is way better and cheaper but the quality isn't just the same unless you go there when it first open to get the best quality. lets get to the chicken masala, it was a hands down best taste and texture. Lets start with the sauce it wasn't runny or too thick, it was just perfect. The chicken pieces were bite size and they were made out of white chicken meat. The chicken tasted like it was char grilled before it was simmer and soaked inside the masala sauce. The sauce was so flavorful i was savoring each bite. I can totally taste the herbs that are used inside, even lifting up the lid the aroma went everywhere and smelled up the little area i was in. Anyways i had to rave how yummy it was and i had a major foodgasm.

Burgers are decent / good. Definitely do a double next time. More bread than meat. Samosas had a good taste. Definitely recommend those

Authentic flavors though place looks like a small mom & pop shop. Only 4 stars because of the limited choices they have.

Pieces of flavorless boneless chicken chunks thrown in with rice. It is not biryani. No chutney, no raita, no salan. The chicken was so dry, we couldn't eat it. The picture is what we threw away. It gave the entire house stomach issues. 0/5 stars -Go to Curry Leaves in Rocklin Chicken Tikka Masala was super sweet with old chicken. The chicken was mushy like a baked potato. It's tikka masala, not tikka gulab jamun. I honestly think they served the chicken from the day old or longer buffet. Never again, more stomach issues. 0/5 stars -Go to Shalimar in Natomas Aloo Palak was edible but little to no flavor. 2/5 stars -Go anywhere else Garlic Naan was not garlic. It was plain with butter. 1/5 stars. -Go anywhere else I hate to leave this review, but if you have eaten at a quality Indian restaurant, cafe, chaat house, or even hole in the wall you would realize the overwhelming disappointment in flavor, preparation, pricing and commitment to quality. The kicker, guy that handed me the food said we are making it all fresh for you right now...these were leftovers from their buffet I suspect. Sad I had to post, would love a quality Indian option in the area, you will have to drive elsewhere. I challenge those that love this place to measure it against Trader Joe's frozen entree options. ¼ of the price, more flavor and tastes fresher...which is crazy for me to say, I know, but try it. Extremely disappointed patron....oh and don't use the left door, you will walk right into their Open Hours sign face first...saw a man do it on his way out. I wish I saw Monica's review before mine, but Yelp decides to default to the best reviews first. Yikes!!

Some locations have come and gone over the years, but this South Sac spot has stayed pretty consistent. The food is classic Pakistani style. Nothing fancy, just straightforward, well-executed dishes. I have had a lot of their menu and most of it hits. The kabobs are always a strong choice, the biryani is flavorful and satisfying, and the chicken tikka masala is decent. Not the best I have ever had, but definitely solid enough to enjoy. It is not mind blowing food, but it is reliable. You know what you are getting, and more often than not, it delivers. One thing I will say is that not all locations are the same. The Natomas one, for whatever reason, just does not hit the same. This South Sacramento location is the one to go to if you want a good experience. The vibe is pretty casual and no frills, which fits the food. Area is a bit rough but that's to be expected in this part of town. Overall, if you're craving solid Pakistani food in Sacramento, this is a dependable spot. Not elite, but very consistent and worth coming back to.
