So this was my first time ordering and I was quite excited. I ordered two slices of pepperoni, a chicken parm grinder with pepperoni on top, a salad, and a gyro. First off, the order was super early. I did not mind one bit. It was about 30 minutes faster than expected and about 30-40 minutes after ordering. The employee was polite and my food was hot. I did however get cheese instead of pepperoni pizza. I'm a little bummed, I really like my pepperoni. The pizza was still pretty good and I'll give em another shot. I called to complain and got an apology and they offered to bring out pepperoni but I felt like a jerk having a driver come out to drop off some pepperoni. I would have preferred like a soda or something next time or a free slice. Oh well. THey did remember to add pepperoni to my chicken parm though :P The chicken on the parm looked like it was chunks off a whole breast. Very tasty and well cooked. I did not care for the peppers and will order without next time, although Im pretty sure I did this time. The nuggets were your typical tyson style nuggets. Nothing fancy but great price. THe salad was made with fresh ingredients and was very delicious. The gyro meat was a bit dry but still tasted great. The grinders here are amazing. Good portions, good price, good ingredients. I've only ever had the pizza grinder from here (and appetizers). Good, a bit pricy though even though the portion is generous. Appetizers are fair/average. The owners aren't very talkative or friendly with customers, even if you've been there (dining in) a few times like I have. I see a lot of people do take-out here and that's probably why. read more

Best sandwich I've had in a while. They should rename the place Eastern style pizza and grinder. I went with the philly steak and it was exceptional. They toast and melt the cheese on fresh bread. I haven't set food in this place in years but just had a chicken breast grinder and it was damn good. This sammy is bigger than a chipotle burrito and probably more calories. But, damn, that garlic sauce and all those fixings (onions, green peppers, cheese) makes this crispy breaded torpedo worth the calories on game day. Next time I'm gonna get the philly and see how it compares to Philly's Best. I'd avoid the pizza. I've heard it sucks and it looks like an undercooked pizza hut pizza. read more

Food is great! Chicken grinder is perfect. Perfect sandwich and the greek fries are iffy. One time it was so good, another time they literally threw feta cheese on top of cold fries. The service, is just terrible to be quite frank. Don't be thrown off by it, because the food makes up for it. Sometimes. I believe the times my food was not good were when I was ordering closer to close. Before I even ordered he yelled that they close in 30 minutes and asked if I would be there before those 30 minutes because the door will be locked after. If I were allowed to give a zero star rating, I would. It's a shame because we have ordered from this restaurant previously and enjoyed their pizza. Last night, we had a very different experience. We ordered a pizza via Grub Hub and it was delivered to our door an hour later. That is when things started to go wrong. I opened the pizza box and noticed ALL of the cheese and toppings slid off the pizza and were bunched up in a ball in the corner of the pizza box. I have attached a picture. As you can see, the toppings slid off the pizza and were piled up in a pool of grease. The pool of grease would indicate it had been there for a while. It looked as if someone dropped the pizza or held it at an angle prior to delivering it to us. I instantly took a picture and called the restaurant and explained the situation. At that point, I had already waited over an hour for a pizza that could not be saved. I simply wanted a refund so I could make other dinner plans. The first person refused to do anything until the driver came back and verified the pizza was indeed in the condition I stated it was in. I explained that I already waited an hour and simply wanted a refund. They again refused and said it is their policy to have the driver verify the pizza was indeed damaged, return it to the restaurant and come back with a new pizza. Again, I already waited an hour and was not about to go through all of that. I explained I had a picture and I was more than happy to text it to them so they can see. They refused and wanted to send back the driver. Eventually I was transferred to another person and we went through the same as previously described. Eventually I realized it was a lost cause and called Grub Hub. Special thanks to Grub Hub for intervening. Grub Hub contacted us back and stated the restaurant refused to refund the money. At t this point, I will not patronize their business again. It is a shame because I enjoyed their pizza but lucky for me I live in Chicago and have HUNDREDS of other options. read more

So I read all the reviews on yelp and drive by theis place regularly. I'm a NYC transplant and I was jonesin for a NY style slice. Dont get me wrong the pizza was delicious and very filling albeit a bit pricey, honestly it reminded me of Sam's Club Pizza (which I happen to love). My 2 unhappy stars are for the attitude of the guys working. OMG...I have never in my life had such rude service....EVER. He told me to hurry up and order cause he'll be busy in a few minutes and then he wont have time to make my order...WTH??!! My friend ordered a Gyro and it took forever to make....I dont know if they were making it from scratch or what so the time on the food isnt an issue. Overall, will I ever come back... Toasted sandwiches are now available everywhere. There was a time not too long ago that toasted sandwiches were a specialty item. This place was, and still is, one of the BEST TOASTED SANDWICHES IN CHICAGO. The philly cheesesteak is so delicious...you don't want to share it & will force yourself to finish it even though you're full. It's that good. They are kinda antiquated in terms of preparation (I think they have the oven that Fred Flintstone used to cook his brontosaurus burgers in), but that just adds to the charm of this place. Amazing that this place exists almost exactly like it was in the 70's with the same damn owners! It's like Back to the Future! The food is very good. Not great but good. Great grinder sandwiches and the pizza is decent. It's a good place to get a tasty sandwich. I went in there a couple weeks ago and was shocked to see the time aged faces of the 2 proprietors still running the show. Friendly good service. Fair prices. Divey atmosphere. Yes, they are a good size sandwich but not one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. A total of $26 and some odd change. Yes, the old man and woman were not friendly, no hello, thanks for coming, nothing. However, as for the food...pizza was not fresh and had soggy crust. The sandwich had a pretty good amount of meat, vegetables, and cheese but, I really couldn't taste the garlic sauce Yelpers raved about. I didn't like whatever pungent cheese they put on top of my sandwich nor, was the chicken seasoned. Iand boyfriend had to add salt and pepper to our sandwiches.The bread was fresh, though. This place advertises heavily they are the best New York style pizza in Chicago but instead it's just average tasting, normal American pizza. It wasn't bad, but it is NOT NY style by any measure. First of all, it's cut in squares. Crust is not floppy. Sauce is not sweet. Just regular old pizza you can find anywhere. To make matters worse the staff there was very unfriendly, no smiles of any kind, welcome, hello, thank you, goodbye.
