This place advertises heavily they are the best New York style pizza in Chicago but instead it's just average tasting, normal American pizza. It wasn't bad, but it is NOT NY style by any measure. First of all, it's cut in squares. Crust is not floppy. Sauce is not sweet. Just regular old pizza you can find anywhere. To make matters worse the staff there was very unfriendly, no smiles of any kind, welcome, hello, thank you, goodbye. And my pizzas were not ready when promised...I waited for nearly 15 minutes in the store without an apology. Won't be going back. read more

I grew up with this pizza, I lived two blocks away, (30 years ago). Gulliver's and Barnaby's were right there as well, but it was always Eastern Style I would call. Having just moved back to the hood, I'm not surprised it's still there; grateful as well. Tom Dude, the "triangle" (wedge ) cut is called "Eastern Style" that's where the place takes it's name from. I've actually never ordered from here before but I will now and here's why. On Super Bowl Sunday, Feb 1st, 2015, also the worst blizzard this city has seen in years, one of the delivery drivers went above and beyond to ensure that I got my car unstuck from the middle of the street. He was driving a black SUV and making a delivery around 6pm on Lakewood and Albion. He spent a good hour with me shoveling and pushing my car and kept doing so until I got out. One of the kindest people I've ever encountered in my life. He even left and made his delivery on foot and returned to help me. Amazing man and deserves a promotion/raise! read more

This place has some of the best food in town. I tend to be picky about certain things but I haven't ever had a complaint about the food here. My favorites include but aren't limited to their Philly Cheesesteak, Monterrey Chicken Sandwich, Cheeseburger, Pizza, and Gyros. The couple that run the place are really nice every time I'm there. The actual restaurant is very simple, but in my opinion comfortable. While there usually is a wait it is well worth my time! Decor - well, don;t stop here for the atmosphere. 4 stars for the grinders -especially the chicken philly (no green peppers just as I like it) but the wait is loooooooong. Expect to wait 10-20 min at the place and at least a half hour for delivery. The guys who run this place are, um, bristly to say the least. Reading some of the reviews, there's a definite notice of the owner's demeanor with the customers. He can come across as a bit off putting but I think that's his personality. Went in today and he seemed to be in a good mood and was actually nice. Kinda steep prices that he charges. BUT, I admit, for the freshness and really delicious grinders that they make, the price is somewhat fair. They definitely don't skimp on flavor or the portions, (one con of the Philly Cheese Streak grinder, the meat is a bit dry). I mostly only order their burgers, grinders and gyros. Which are all darn right the BEST I've ever had. Especially love the Grecian grinder and the gyros - which are MASSIVE! HELLVA LOT OF MEAT. I've had their deep dish spinach pizza which was awesome. The Stromboli was so-so for me. The dough was a little thick and spongy. Don't come here often, but it's worth it at times when you want something better than drive through fast food. Giving it four. My favorite pizza delivery in Chicago. Stuffed is good, thin crust is best. I think they use provolone instead of plain mozzarella. If you are a cheese person more than a crust person, this place is super yummmm, a little greasy and really delicious! Sausage tastes homemade. Love their veggie pizza, too! Let's start with the obvious. This isn't really NY pizza. The sauce needs to be a touch sweeter and the crust is too thick. But its not bad. It's totally reasonable and the price is ok too. I used to visit Chicago from Australia many years ago and got introduced to the food at eastern style pizza. In my life I have never eaten such amazing food. This place has a massive menu that's easy to get lost in. I've never had the pizza but have had several of the sandwiches. All the sandwiches we've tried have been really good. The service is slow. This place gets your east coast favorites exactly right. Delicious - just the way you remember them. The Phlly cheesesteaks are great, and taste just like the well-stuffed cheesesteak grinders you get at any good New England or New York (usually Greek-owned) pizza place. And the spanikopita (called "spinach pie" here), made with good, flaky phyllo dough was flaky and greasy and delicious, just like it should be. We like the skinny little fried zucchini sticks, too. If you are from New England, or even upstate or downstate New York, you will recognize this food. It hits just the right spot. I lived in MA for over 15 years, and in NY (some upstate, some Hudson Valley, some NYC) for over 15 years. Eastern Style Pizza is now my go-to for east coast pizza joint food. The food isn't bad but the two who work there are extremely nasty. The woman has no personality and the man who answers the phone when attempting to place an order needs a lesson in customer service. I've had better service at Denny's after midnight. On the menu, it offeres "All Day Special," I called around 6pm for the "all day special" of 2 slices of pizza. It's just me, and I don't need a whole pizza in the house, and the rude guy on the phone, said they don't have any more slices.. Really, at 6pm? Not even at the end of the dinner rush. Beware of this place, I won't go there any more, I can't seem to support a local business that has terrible customer service. The pizza nazi makes a really good pie. And his grinders are out of this world, especially the gyros grinder. The pizza is quite greasy, but delicious. The grinders are equally greasy but even better. Don't let the negative reviews turn you off, the owner and his wife are nice people. If you just want a couple slices of pizza call ahead and see if he has any available. If he doesn't, there's one in the oven and you want to time your visit to get there when it's ready. The grinders take 20 minutes to make so definitely call those in. I think you will like this place but get takeout, the restaurant itself is not a great place to eat your meal. read more

Last time I was at Eastern style pizza I'm guessing was back in the late 70's or early 80's. My go to sandwich has always been the italian beef grinder on garlic bread. I had a slice of cheese pizza.. Pretty tasty sauce. Cheese wasn't as cheesy and stringy I would have liked it to be. The crust wasn't really crispy nor tasty. Just had ny pizza in ny and it wasn't like this. The BF had the combo grinder on garlic bread..which didn't taste like garlic. It was like a potbelly sandwich. Seating is spacious. I start salivating the minute someone suggest that we do lunch at Eastern Style. From their gyros grinders, to their tasty sausage pizza slices, to their Italian Sausage smeared with garlic, and their seasoned steak fries, Eastern Style fits the perfect Chicagoan taste for the typical working class. This is by far my favorite sandwich i have had. the guy taking your order is rude but the only time you speak to him is ordering it seems like he is always in a rush.
