Me and my wife have been coming here for over a year, and usually was all great but this last time my wife without getting a notification and this one was so bad, and here is where all the troubles come from first this dentist does such a bad job that they had to call in our regular dentist to fix his job and had to redo her temporary and permanent crown. then after a week my wife's temporary crown fell out, and she immediately called the office, but nobody answered. She ended up going to the office in person. The front desk lady very belligerent said, "You should have called," instead of asking what happened. She arrived at the office at 2 PM on Thursday, and the front desk lady told her they couldn't fit her in because they were closing at 3 PM, even though Google says they close at 4 PM. She wanted her to schedule an appointment for Monday. She didn't seem to care that my wife could get an infection by then. This place has horrible service read more

I changed from the dentist office I had been going to all of my life (conflict in hours, truly loved them) and found this office that is pretty close to my home and honestly I do not feel lazy to come here. I am so glad that I found them and I love the care they have provided me so far! I had a root canal like a year ago, and after a routine teeth cleaning here, the doctor recommended that I get a crown. I got the crown and honestly, it's great! I recently went in for a routine exam at Eastlake. I was leery because of some of the bad yelp reviews, but I had a friend that had recently been and saw Dr. Alexandra Fong and said she was excellent. My experience was excellent from start to finish. The front staff were very polite. Dr. Fong was very competent. She not only explained her findings in detail but also explained my options thoroughly and in a way that I understood them. I never felt I was getting pressured into the more expensive option like I have previously with other corporate type dental office. The fillings that she replaced look and feel great, and I have no more sensitivity. She worked quickly and confidently. Eastlake is lucky to have Dr. Fong on board. I will definitely be referring her to my friends. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Tin's on an off for a couple years. Her services has always been average her front desk staff was ok not very costumer service oriented though. I recently decided to look for another dentist and I'm glad I need because Dr. Tin's bedside matters are not good. She would talk with her assistant about other patients, what was on the T.V., drama with her friends you name it. This talk when on and on where she was working on my teeth sometimes making comments and taping me on the shoulder before she started laughing about what she said which could not reply back because I could not close my month. Two of the teeth she worked on have to get work done again because according to my new dentist they were not done right the first time. Additionally, Dr. Tin referred me to a oral surgeon to have my wisdom teeth removed and that was a horrible experience I did not get past the appointment making processes. I am surprise she referees people to the office they have a horrible review on Yelp and the level of customer service they provide over the phone is horrible. Like I mentioned at the begging I was a patient of Dr. Tin for a couple years until I realize that I could do better. I think if you are looking for a new Dentist office you can keep looking. read more

All reviews on Yelp are right on. My wife went in for a root canal 2 months ago. My wife is still going back 7 times and counting and is in constant pain. I had the same experience about a year ago and wanted to change then but the wife thought I was exaggerating.Won't go into all the detail just do yourself a favor and find someone else. read more

I've been going to Dr. Tin for over 7 years & have yet to have an issue. I changed jobs & insurance for a few yrs in between, but finally was able to choose her again as my dentist. I've been going to Dr. Tin for over 11 years (post military) and my kids have seen her for over 16 years. We have ALWAYS had a great experience, from the occasional filling to a crown placement. She did not explain what she was doing as she worked, caused severe and lasting pain, and gossiped with her dental assistant about what was on the television while working on my cavities. Don't waste your time! I saw the reviews for Dr. Tin and I gave her a chance. Worst mistake ever! The first filling she put in broke, she had to do it again. The pain never went away so I went back in. She then told me I needed a root canal. I decided to wait while she did another filling. That molar started to hurt as well. She took x-rays and told me I needed a root canal in that molar too. I asked her why she had put in fillings when I needed root canals and she said she always tries to do the least invasive procedure. At this point I had already paid for 2 fillings I didn't need and she still needed to do 3 more fillings. I asked her how deep the fillings were,she said they were pretty deep and maybe we should wait because they could be root canals as well. If I hadn't asked her she would have done the fillings that day. I was still in pain and not willing to pay for 2 root canals so I went to Tijuana. I was in so much pain I couldn't eat on either side of my mouth. The dentist in Tijuana took 2 x-rays, had me bite on the film strip, sanded down the molars and explained to me: 1. The first molar did not need a root canal. Dr. Tin did not file down the filling to fit the mold of my teeth so it kept hitting at a weird angle when I would bite. He said I'd be in pain for a few weeks but it would get better. 2. The second molar was infected and needed to be filed down as well. He gave me an antibiotic and medicine to reduce the inflammation. He said it's possible I may need a root canal in that molar but we would see how the molar looks after I'm done with the antibiotics. I will NEVER go back to Dr.Tin. I don't understand how she's still in business. I have always hated the dentist and with this experience I hate them even more. read more

I would not recommend Dr. Tin. I have been billed incorrectly because her staff misunderstood what was covered under the insurance plan and b/c of their mistake I was obligated to pay for a service that they said was covered. In addition, my 12 year old daughter went there for extractions and without even checking to see if the novacane was effective, she began working on the extraction. Needless to say my daughter was in excruciating pain and we left the office that instant. She would also promote her husbands cosmetic surgery services in the office, I felt that was a bit much. Lesson learned and will never go back there. read more

Dr. Tin calls it like it is, no BS, no upselling. She understood my time was important to me and while she took the time to answer all my questions she nor her staff kept me waiting. Prior to her I was limited by my HMO to see other dentists in the area - maybe it was coincidental but other places in Eastlake were the opposite to my comments above. So there you have it, oh and one another thing, while I was there I overheard her informing a patient that she can open at 8AM to accommodate their schedules. Highly recommend - this is the Disneyland of Dentistry. I discovered them when I called 1-800-dentist and this is who they recommended. No, they don't wear colorful scrubs that have cartoon characters on them, and they don't have kiddy posters on their walls. But if you've ever been traumatized from past experiences or are afraid of going to the mean evil villain of a dentist - I suggest making the switch to this place. Dr. Tin is like the tooth fairy godmother and everyone is really nice and super friendly. The best part is that each room is equipped with 2 TVs - one that is across from you so you can watch while sitting upright, and the other is on the ceiling so you can zone out to it while your teeth are being worked on. There's nothing worse than having to watch your own reflection of your mouth wide open from the light perched above your head and listening to the sound of the tools being used. They also give you a bag of free toothpaste, floss and mouthwash after each visit, which encourages good oral hygiene practice. Another bonus is that they are open 'til 7 pm on the weekdays - so you don't have to take time off from work or go in on your day off to get your teeth cleaned. I work in Mira Mesa and live in Lemon Grove but will drive all the way down to Chula Vista (Eastlake) just to go to this dentistry. read more

This is shocking to find out people appreciate Dr. Tin. I have been going to her for 2 years. I just posted a review in yelp under Dr. San Aye Tin and wasn't aware of this one. I must say I continued to go to her for 2 years as I did not want to deal with looking for another dentist.She gossips with her staff and is too too friendly. I would prefer a professional atmosphere. I am sure she is great in her craft as I do appreciate her talent, yet I felt I was not important to her. Why go to someone who fakes a smile and happy attitude? You walk out that door I'm pretty sure she's talking with her staff about the crown she just replaced for you... Dr Tin is the BEST; she made me feel so comfortable and at ease because she has the best trivial current events stories that are so funny I forgot she was working on my teeth. My first visit she distracted me with football trivia; why Tom Brady is a great quarterback because he has nice teeth and he smiles at the rushers and they freeze long enough to complete the pass. She says if you kook at his face guard, it's the shape of his smile. Really? Then I was done. She is cool. read more

I went to Dr. Tin about 5 times until I finally decided to use yelp to get another dentist. I let some things slide for the sake of not having to deal with finding a new dentist. But I decided to move on to better things. One day I had an appointment and I got there 5 minutes early. When I got there there was nobody there. They had all gone to lunch and the office was closed. I waited outside for 15 minutes past my appointment time until they all showed up. The most upsetting part is that they all came in nonchalantly when they saw me and another patient waiting outside. Also when I would be having work done on my teeth Dr. Tin and her assistant were gossiping and I felt like I wasn't even in the same room. I don't recommend this office or Dr. Tin and her staff. The only reason that I didn't give them 1 star is because of the convenient location, cleanliness, and availability of appointments. read more
