This place was an oasis on a dark night. Crazy highway closures, the late hours on a Sunday night leaving other places closed, we were led here to eat. Took a chance as we had never heard of it but the open 24 hours a day sign beckoned is in. What a surprise! A cute retro diner vibe. Something led me to order the gyro and it was phenomenal, not Greece level, but they griddled both the gyro meat and the pita so it was piping hot and then layered with cold tzatziki, lettuce, onion and tomato.... Sooo good. Fries were crispy, hot, and plentiful on everyone's plate. The kids chicken strip meal was unbelievably crispy and juicy and flavorful. Two burgers were ordered and both were loved. And even at the late hour service was friendly and attentive. The only thing keeping that 5th star is the whole place and all the condiments etc on the table need wiped down and the floors swept and mopped. This place was interesting to say the least. I just traveled all the way from Florida nonstop, and came to this place as soon as I arrived in Ohio. I was apprehensive about going in, because it was sketchy on the outside, and zero cars in the parking lot. Mind you, it was about 3am when I arrived. The workers were outside smoking pot and cigarettes and the server was also the cook so she was everywhere. She was very friendly and liked striking up conversations, but I was sooo tired from traveling I couldn't even think right at that point. Lol. All in all, it was an ok visit. The food was less than to be desired but I liked the server the most. She was pleasant. I ordered the Gyro salad which was definitely far from a true Gyro salad, and my pal ordered the Rueben sandwich and he said it was just ok. I used to love The Lam Post, but after today's visit, I'm extremely disappointed. The restaurant has clearly changed under new ownership, and not for the better. My experience was ruined by our waiter, Karson, who honestly seemed like he had no idea what he was doing. He forgot our order, and instead of taking responsibility, he had someone else come to figure it out. To make matters worse, we overheard staff saying that since he didn't know what we wanted, he was just going to give us what he thought we ordered. When the food finally came out after 25 minutes, it was completely wrong. My sandwich had sausage links on it for no reason, and several items were missing. Karson did nothing to fix the mistakes or apologize. Instead, he had other staff members apologize on his behalf, including sending his mom over to apologize for him, saying it was his first job. While I understand that everyone has to start somewhere, Karson should have owned up to his mistakes and at least tried to make things right. Instead, the whole situation felt unprofessional and disappointing. This used to be a great place, but I won't be coming back. read more

We have a summer condo near the lamp post and have visited a few times for breakfast and once for dinner. I understand the restaurant is under new ownership and they have done quite a bit of remodeling and cleaning. In recent years I was skeptical of eating there but it's much cleaner now. The breakfast is outstanding and is only $5.99 from 6-10 a.m. You get bacon, two eggs, hashbrowns and toast. Our dinners were good but not outstanding. I would recommend the homemade soup. We had the cabbage soup, and it was outstanding. The service has been quite good. If you like to eat out on a budget and have not been to the lamp post in a while, I suggest you give it a try. read more

We eat breakfast here a few days on every trip to Akron, and the food is always cooked perfectly to order (not always the case with eggs!), deliciously fresh, and served with just the right balance of friendliness and sarcasm. My dad is a regular with an unhealthy level of sarcasm, so you may not get any sarcasm, but he deserves it! Ha! Dad always gets the He-Man, which is a great value if you're hungry or sharing. We recently ate lunch there, and WOW! First visit for us...kind of expected an older, more run-down look, but it's bright and fresh inside and the booths and seats are in really good condition. I ordered the wrap special for Friday which was Barbecue Chicken. It was delicious and came with a generous pile of crispy, skin-still-on, wide cut fries. Great diner...we had breakfast food...a cheese omelet with biscuit and a 'stuffed hash brown" (a layered delight of crispy hashbrown, scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon and more hashbrowns) each had a hot beverage...bill was under $34. Which may seem high for a diner, but we will likely not need anything to eat for the rest of the day...very generous servings. Servers were upbeat, knowledgeable and very pleasant. Kind of a funky little diner overall with the addition of a metal outdoor seating area and also some tables outside where obviously the smokers are sitting. Service was good. We knew the kitchen was slow going in so just a heads up. We all got some sort of breakfast because breakfast is the best meal of the day anyway. Kids each got pancakes and sausage which they both ate. Wife had a southern breakfast biscuit meal and it was good. Everyone raves about the he-man platter and yes you get a lot of food but is it too much food...not really. I ate it with ease and I am not a big guy who eats huge amounts of food. 2 things that I wish would be a little better and one is dear to me. Please crisp those hashbrowns more. I almost didn't eat them because they were barely cooked. No one likes uncrisp hashbrowns. I also wish the sausage gravy was a little more less like shit on a shingle style and more flavor. I was introduced to this place when this newer place was still ran down. It then moved across the street then came back. This is the first time since I've been back and it's really nice inside. I've only been here at night so I don't know what the morning or day is like here but I do like enjoy coming here. I've never had a bad time here. The He-Man is the main attraction here for me and my buddies. Someone always has to get one and I think every time I've been here, it's all I've ever gotten. It never disappoints! I've gotten down two he-man's along with another buddy so this place is pretty special. On this particular night though, I ordered the he-man and my buddy who did two with me before didn't feel like getting a he-man so we did a challenge with me having to finish the he-man and him 24 eggs sunny side up. Super cute little diner-ish place close to I-76. Picked this place to stop by for a quick bite on the way home from New York. Great appeal, the interior was very clean and nicely decorated w. classic Coca-Cola theme, generally very warm and inviting atmosphere. Our servers was very kind, patient, and attentive. The bathroom was SO nice and clean, I had to take a picture to give them the credit (in my experience, most similar restaurants have real dirty and foul bathrooms). Got a burger here it was eh .. wasn't worth the money or time didn't realize I was paying for frozen bland meat and buns that are from the grocery store as well as room temperature fries; i asked them for a side of avocado apparently they don't have that either it would have been nice to know also that not only did my burger come with 1 frozen patty but 2 yayyyy oh oh and the best part was the plastic cheese on top of the dry bricks that they call hamburger meat ... The owner was amazing and took care of me and the crew but when I sat down the waitress was great but it wasn't til after we got our food when she started talking about 2 family relatives of the restaurant that weren't doing anything to help. I heard complaints of the dishes not being done at night, one lady who we will call the "sister in law" was scared to go to the basement for order checks and the other "sister in law" apparently wasn't making the dishwasher do anything at night so my waitress complained about everything the restaurant had at fault with two customers who I presume she knew because she had said, "Oh let me move this seat over, usually when we have these talks nobody is here". Also I heard about what they call a senior hour from 4am-6am I believe. And how they do carry out only late at night with the regulars (senior hours). I've driven by this place hundreds of times but never been in. I decided to give it a shot with my kids last night. The food was fair but overpriced for the quality. The service was mediocre and there were flies everywhere. I probably won't go back. I ordered a breakfast combo with a waffle. It was a lot of food, just shy of their famous HeMan breakfast. Too bad it came out cold with underdone hash browns. My kids got a hamburger and shrimp plate both with fries. The hamburger was tiny. The frozen fried shrimp was abundant and about what you'd expect at a diner. The fries were probably the best thing going. With two waters and a sprite it was just shy of $40. As for the service, we came in and were ignored. I didn't realize it was seat yourself. After someone else came in and sat down we figured it out. Our server brought drinks and our orders fairly quickly but we never saw her again. I tried to get her attention politely several times but finally gave up. We waited probably 15-20 minutes after we were done eating to get the check, thirsty with plates piled high, an obvious sign we were done. As our server rang us out she mumbled something about them being really busy. I'm not sure if this was a half hearted mea culpa... only about half the seats were full. Then there were the flies. The restaurant seemed fairly clean but the flies were definitely off putting. I'm not talking one or two. We were waving them off our food for the entire meal. There was a gnat in my sons water which I drank (not the gnat, the water after I fished it out) due to the previously mentioned problems getting refills.
