Again. This is just a local diner that is decent. You are going to get an OK meal and a decent price. It's not fancy. But sometimes you don't need fancy. Breakfasts are good. Lunch is good. They have dinners and specials too. It's a solid no frills meal. Decor is 1980's but comfy. Menu looks to be a bit pared down. More manageable. Prices are fair. We got the grilled cheese and tomato soup special. Soup was good. Not watered down Campbells. Had chunks of tomato and herbs. I got the Italian hot sub with fries. Also ok. Could have used more meat and cheese but it was ok. Good amount of fries. Server was young and asking us a few times if we were good. So she was attentive. Overall it's fine. We came for breakfast and I had the garden skillet with hash browns and toast which was delicious. The coffee was also very good. Cher gave us excellent service making sure we had everything we needed, and the atmosphere / ambiance was comfortable, clean and qu enough for conversation at a comfortable level. For a cafe this place is great. Always good atmosphere, waiters, good food at this cafe in Stow. If I ate more meat maybe I'd come here more for a quick bite. They cook with soy oil so everything is safe if you have peanut allergies. Having a pesco/ dairy free diet, I was able to order food and it was delicious! A true staple of the Stow area, Stow Cafe will not disappoint. Staff- Stow Cafe boasts a caring and compassionate staff, always attentive to your needs. For how busy this place is, it's great that the service does not suffer because of it. Food- WONDERFUL! Anything in the menu will be delicious, but in my opinion, it's the omelettes that will blow you away. They are MASSIVE, and are stuffed with quality ingredients. Plan on a to-go box! Odds & Ends- Plan on waiting! It's no secret how awesome the food is, and as such, this is a breakfast tradition for many families in the area. If you plan on going here on a weekend, plan for a wait. It moves quick, but is almost unavoidable. Stow Cafe is also very family friendly, great for bringing kids. If you are opposed to loud children, and prefer a quieter fare, this is probably not the place for you. read more

I must say, after our lunch here I felt as though I had been living under a rock for 21 years, and someone had just shown me the light. What a great little place! I find it reminiscent of eat n park or some other quieter eating establishment. Upon arrival, there was no wait getting our table, which was a fascinating one by the way. It consisted of a large booth with a giant mirror taking up the whole wall. I opted for the "deluxe grilled cheese," as despite my age and appearance, I am actually a child. I also got my hands on some of their delightful cheddar potato soup! God knows that one cup had 450 calories but it was beyond worth it. When my grilled cheese came, it was just as how I expected it: a bunch of cheese and bread; That's it! That's all you need, not Ham or bacon or lettuce, cheese that's it. 3 or 4 cheese to be exact can't remember the exact number. Anyhow, it was very satisfying, and the portion was just enough to make one feel full but not sick. Service was very friendly, and the restaurant had a very quiet and relaxed atmosphere. A favorite of mine might I add. For two people not exactly trying to scrimp, the bill was not far north of $15, giving this establishment incredible value. I went to the Cafe in Stow and ordered the small order of chicken cordon bleu. My son ordered the steak panini. When the server brought our dinners she asked me if I wanted a dinner roll. I was confused by this and told her I thought my dinner came with one. She said it did, but she wasn't going to bring it if I wasn't going to eat it because it would "just get thrown in the bin". Wait . . . what??? I felt like a 5-year old being admonished for wasting food. I was quite surprised and said, "Okay. Well, don't bring it, I guess". I was too shocked by this to argue about it. THEN, my meal arrived. I don't know how on earth this dish was considered to be chicken cordon bleu. It was a bland, dry chicken breast, with one extremely thin slice of deli ham on top of it. On top of that were 4 croutons. Were those in place of breading?? On top of the croutons was a paper-thin slice of rubbery, melted cheese. The croutons were a gross, soggy mess. I set them aside. Uh-oh! I guess the croutons had to go in the "bin"! I couldn't eat all of the chicken as it was dry and unseasoned. My son's steak panini was . . . food. Not awful, but not good. Everything was fine until an injured MOUSE came walking out of the kitchen towards the cashier's area. I pointed and told the cashier to look and she didn't seem surprised at all. I suggested that she throw a box or take out container over it to catch it, which she did, and then took it through the kitchen to ? then returned to finish ringing in our bill like nothing even happened. Wow, okay? Wouldn't you think at least the manager would've come out and said something? Perhaps I should have loudly said " OMG a Mouse" instead of "look". Very good family restaurant with good ole American food. The breakfasts are very good and consistent. Lunch and dinner are also very good. Big hang out for older crowd (50 and up) so their rush hour is much earlier for dinner. My grandfather use to say, "if u find a restaurant where a bunch of old people are, the food is usually good, cause we are picky eaters" Downside? Men's bathroom is not very clean. The Cafe in Stow is a great little place if you are looking for an inexpensive, classic American meal. Most of the diners are either families or a much older crowd, but I enjoy the laid back, dineresque atmosphere. My favorite item on the menu is the grilled cheese which always has a great buttery flavor at reasonably low prices. Probably my first and last visit to the Cafe in Stow. The service is fast and friendly (the only reason why I gave it 2 stars), but the food is flavorless and sub-par. I went t during lunch hours, which may have been the mistake, especially since others rave about their breakfast. I ordered the grilled whitefish with steamed veggies and wild rice. My husband (a lover of pulled pork sandwiches) ordered a BBQ pork sandwich with skinny french fries and a dinner salad. Let's start with my plate first. I prefer my steamed veggies a little crispness. My vegetables were overcooked, soggy and flavorless. All the salt & pepper in the world couldn't help those vegetables. Next, the wild rice was nothing more bland rice pilaf. I know the difference between wild rice and rice pilaf, since I only eat brown rice or wild rice mix. Finally my grilled whitefish with cajun seasonings was 3 measily pieces of whitefish, which I think they took 1 fish and split 3 ways. The fish was definitely not fresh, probably a frozen filet and the cajun seasoning was nothing special. Now, my husband's dinner salad was nothing more than a mixture of bagged iceburg lettuce and lettuce greens. There was 1 thin slice of cucumber, 1 slice thick cut green pepper and croutons. My husband deplores bagged lettuce, cucumbers give him indigestion and he isn't a lover of green peppers. I guess he liked his fries because he ate those. Finally, his BBQ pork sandwich leaves nothing to the imagination. I don't eat meat but, to me it looked like that Lloyds pulled pork (in the round container) you can get at your local grocers near the meat section. The old man was not impressed. If I give them a second try it will be for breakfast because lunch is definitely not their strong suit. read more

While the ambiance here is nice and works well for the older crowd (sub-50 and you're basically out of place) I can't recommend the food at all. The Cafe isn't very far from a Sam's Club and Giant Eagle is right up the street and you can put together the same meal for less money that way. While there's nothing inherently wrong with that, I'd like there to be something remotely interesting about the meal I'm eating and I have yet to get that here. Restaurants in the area are usually pretty hit and miss for me and while Rockne's is probably the king of the "I could have made this at home no problem" restaurants, Rockne's at least has some good items on their menu. Absolutely nothing, from the bacon to the eggs even to the cheese, at the Cafe stands out as anything but boring, unimaginative and bland. They will butter the heck out of your toast though! So, there's that. It's a nice place to visit, but I can't recommend eating there. read more

I hadn't been to Stow Cafe in years but a member of our family now lives close to it and likes to go there, so I have been there several times in recent months. I have been very happy with both the food and service we have received. The chicken noodle soup and Italian wedding soup are both fantastic. I had the meatloaf special yesterday. It was a huge piece of meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, and soup or salad for $6.99. Everything was delicious. It is becoming one of our regular places to eat. read more

Ok folks here is the deal 10-15 people in the restaurant and it took 1hr for us to receive our meals. They forgot our appetizers and I have been waiting 20mins for a drink refill. Horrible service and the food is mediocre. Save your money and hit up the dollar menu at McDonalds you will be more satisfied. I have had a couple different experiences here. Because I am from the area we come here a couple times a month in our rotation of restaurants. Now breakfast has always been delicious I have always had delicious breakfast here except one time - my hash browns were not cooked how I asked them but I like them super crispy not a big deal. Lunch and dinner on the other hand is a whole other ball game. I have had some really good meals and some pretty okay meals for lunch a dinner and I don't know if it just depends on the day that you go or what it's all about. The service is always great, very friendly and accommodating no matter what time of the day. I will continue to go for breakfast, not sure about the other times of the day though. read more

Absolutely the worst steak panini I ever had. The meat was horrible. I wouldn't even call it meat. Some kind of shaved steakum bullshit, and they used Texas toast instead of the ciabatta bread they used to use. The onions and mushrooms weren't even sautéed correctly. Mushy and all had had no flavoring. Nothing was seasoned properly either. cup of of the ham bean soup as a side. A lot of the beans were still hard from being undercooked. It's pretty bad when Arby's has better sandwiches. It had been about 7 years since I ate there last. Figured I would give it another try. Never again. Plus the booth they tried to seat us in the back was broken and flopping around. The chicken on the chilled chicken salad was the crap you cut up for lunch meat. Place is outdated and it was mostly elderly people there when we ate. Nothing wrong with that. The food is average at best. I had the all you can eat fish and it was ok. It came with a choice of sides and I picked salad and vegetable soup. The vegetable soup was actually pretty flavorful but the fish not so much. I really wanted to give this place a shot because it's usually packed with an older crowd on the weekends. My boyfriend ordered a side salad and a pulled pork sandwich. The lettuce seemed to be packaged iceberg and the salad consisted of one slice of cucumber and one strip of green pepper. The pulled pork sandwich was super tiny. The meat resembled baby food and was probably pre-frozen. I ordered a salsa skillet breakfast. The eggs were cooked well and tasted alright, but wet and drenched in store bought salsa. The home fries tasted pre-frozen and were very mushy. The decor is outdated and seemingly dirty. The food resembled bland cafeteria food. But at least our waitress was super nice.
