My boyfriend and I have been walking to the Easy Monkey after work on Friday's. Neither of us are big drinkers, but we really enjoy going in, having a chance to chat and unwind, drink a beer or two, and skedaddle. I love that we can hear each other, the bartenders are really friendly, and without intending to, we always end up leaving pretty full. PROS: - Friday late afternoon/early evening is HOTDOG HAPPY HOUR. I don't know if it will always be this way, and we're not big hot dog eaters either, but it was a really nice surprise. After a beer, it's hard to say no to a hotdog. - I really like their tomato soup! Simple food and limited menu, but it's cooked well and goes really good with beer. - Free peanuts! - Accidentally showed up for trivia once. It was really fun and there was a crazy huge turn out! However, my voice doesn't really carry, so with that many people around, it was hard to be heard. - We keep missing the live shows, but they've got wood floors and an area for a stage. This seems like an awesome venue for some blues bands & dancers to strut their stuff. - They have shuffleboard! - I like that the beer selection seemed fairly local, but I'm not a beer aficionado, so what do I know? - There're always people here. Not so many that I can't hear myself, not so few that I feel like I'm being watched. Good balance. CONS: - Now that I've been in a few times, I need a few more beer choices... I'm running out of things to try! A tasty sour would be awesome. :) - It doesn't feel as trendy as, say, a bar in Ballard. The decor is more like being in someone's clean house or a nice dental office. I think a riskier or moodier color of paint could help! read more

VERY nice place! The lack of greasy food makes it feel like a much lower key, friendlier cocktail lounge. Very fresh atmosphere and good selection of beers on tap, as well! read more

This place is quiet, clean, nice people. Small but good beer selection. This is not a gastropub or brewery so don't expect that. But expect a place to chill on the sunny back porch, have a snack, some good beer and some tunes. Also, the brown ale here is the best! read more

Moderate amount of taps, small menu is lacking and is very basic, and there's just not a lot of character here. It's not horrible, it's just not notable. Was almost library quiet when I stopped by, too. I don't need a crowd, but I'd expect more activity for happy hour. read more

Its nice and the people who run it are very friendly.. A bit stark without much to do or see. I was thankful for the shuffle board table or we wouldn't have stayed as long as we did. The menu is limited though interesting enough to find something to eat. Will I go back? Maybe but this is the second time ive been and I only went because my normal haunt was closed. I would go if they put in a pool table or something. read more

Was walking by one day and happened to see that they were now offering unique pizza on Wednesdays. So, went in on a Wednesday to check out the pizza. Not very many choices for pizza in Shoreline and nothing as far as what was advertised here as handmade pizza with quality toppings. Pretty skeptical.i have been here now three Wednesdays and have had consistently good food and service. Yesterday, I got a "Last bloom Of summer" that had heirloom tomatoes that came from the cook's garden, peppers and I think mortadella. The pizza was good. The crust was puffy, chewy and had a great blister to it. It was not overloaded with ingredients, but I still could not finish the whole pie. There were other pizza choices that I wanted to try. I guess the cook dreams up pizzas based on what is fresh and available. The atmosphere was great, people were sitting at a long table all talking, eating pizza and relaxing. One woman came and sat down. She had just gone to Orangetheory for a workout and was ready to splurge with hard cider and a pie. Waitress and bartender kept checking on everyone to see if we needed anything. Surprised to find a great place to chill, friendly staff and great pizza. Fantastic addition to the Shoreline food scene. read more

My friend and I happened upon this lovely place the other day. It's been awhile since I've been to a place where the employees were SO friendly. It was clear great service was their goal. I will definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone. It was a mellow Sunday, so I'm looking forward to being there when they have jazz or for the comedy show coming up. This would easily be a 5 star if there was better food. The beer selection is outstanding as is the service and location. Currently they do offer sandwiches which normally would be fine, but they really are lacking. I had a turkey/cheese pannini which was greasy and was lacking any sort of flavor. I understand they do not have a full blown kitchen, but even without all the amenities there are lots of creative sandwich solutions. Honestly Easy Monkey, listen up, you can be so much better if you would just put a bit of creativity into your food selection. read more

As a lover of yummy local beer, I was so excited that a new place opened in the North End. Boy have I been disappointed! I've tried Easy Monkey three times, just to keep giving them another chance. After the last visit: no more chances. The place needs ambiance, the people who work there need to be more educated about the beers they sell and SELL it . I have sat with a empty glass and no one ever came over to ask if I wanted another beer. I've worked in restaurants and you never let the glass get empty - always offer another before it gets to the bottom. They have never greeted me or when I left, said good-bye or a "thanks for coming in". read more

First time here, but I love it already. They have a bunch of local beers on tap, awesome jazz playing in the background, friendly staff that immediately welcome you in, the cheese and sausage platter is delicious and they take community seriously, donating to various local charities. I can totally get behind supporting this place. It's new to the neighborhood, so it's pretty quiet on a Friday night, but I expect that to change once people start checking it out. Cheers! read more

Love this place! The easy going atmosphere, friendly and attentive wait staff make it a pleasant place to just hang. We enjoy watching football as well as the live music options on the weekend. The cheesy garlic bread (gluten free I think) is amazing! Also love the hummus plate. Their cider options are great and i have never had my glass empty...very attentive staff without being over bearing!!!
