Socking up for lockdown has created some new opportunities for some, including my trip up to A1 Hop Shop after hearing about their local brews on tap and plentiful bottle selection. They have plenty of your classic local brews to choose from, but you can also find some special kegs tapped to expand your pallet. Like all good beer houses in Washington, they really do know their beer, but if you come in asking for 'something like Blue Moon' you should check your inexperienced taste buds at the door and let them provide you some help finding something better. We have some of the best craft beer in the world in this area, and A1 can help you appreciate that reputation. Pre-pandemic, you could sit inside and enjoy some small kitchen fare at decent prices. This is definitely a neighborhood feel bar, and if I lived in the area I would definitely keep it in my routine list. Since upgrade to an e-bike, this location is a bit more accessible, but still worthy of an adventure if you're coming from the south side. If you're familiar with the local trails, the Interurban trail actually goes right by here, so you can technically get from Fife to here via trails, but I'm pretty sure you might consider hopping on transit somewhere along the way unless you are making an entire weekend out of it. With the lockdown conditions, they are able to provide some limited outside seating, and even in the cold it isn't so bad, especially if you come when there is decent sunlight. They do provide heaters, but on the winter afternoon of my visit, the sun was all that was needed. Great place to sample some flavors while you pick your options for home consumption. Cheers.

Great beer. Great people. Great service. I recommend. You're not getting a gourmet meal, or a gastropod experience. It's a bar. Enjoy!

Friendly and welcoming atmosphere, lots of people of all ages (people with babies and little toddlers, too!) and some tv. I came for my friend's birthday! People directed me where to go and helped me get a drink. The bathrooms were clean and the place was well lit and people were around if you needed anything. My friend brought decorations and pizza and noodles and fun stuff for her party, and we had a great time. I was just sorry I had to leave early but happy I made it up from Tacoma.

If you're looking for a tap house that feels like a secret clubhouse for grown-ups, with great slushies, Edway Tap House is your spot. Nestled under a house in Edmonds, it's got that "did I just stumble into something awesome?" I kept thinking wow I would love to own this place and live above it. The slushie drinks here are dangerously good, icy, flavorful, and perfect for summer sipping. The rotating tap list features standout local beers and ciders from places like Urban Family Brewing and Obec Brewing, so there's always something new to try. The bartender let us try a few cause 2 girls that aren't huge beer drinkers are hard to please but we found 2 keepers! They have theme Nights to keep it entertaining. Trivia nights bring out the brainy banter, and the cribbage club adds a quirky, nostalgic twist. There's even a walking club if you want to earn your pint with a few steps first. Wish I lived in Edmonds cause I'd be down for a walking club. Outdoor Games & Family-Friendly Vibes Edway isn't just for the 21+ crowd, it's proudly kid-friendly, with outdoor games like cornhole that keep everyone entertained and ladder golf. The spacious patio makes it easy to relax while the little ones play, and the welcoming atmosphere means families feel right at home. Also dogs allowed so that's my main reason for going too! Plenty of space means you won't be elbowing for a view, and the laid-back atmosphere makes it easy to settle in for a full match. While Edway doesn't serve food directly just some odd and ends like a pretzel I saw on the menu, they host a rotating cast of food trucks. Great find!

I miss the days of the local food trucks, but you can bring food or order from a place next door most days. This is a great place to meet up with others or have a regularly scheduled meet up, they are so accommodating and helpful. My book club meets here currently. It's great because we are able to get a section reserved ahead of time, its away from the TVs and never so loud that we have trouble hearing each other. They are also open every day and have later hours than a lot of breweries seem to have these days. They have multiple beers on tap, always something new and are happy to offer tastes if you have trouble deciding. If you don't drink beer there are ciders, wine and root beer as well. I've tried tons of things, they are all tasty. I have a 5th anniversary Belgian Triple Crowler in my fridge right now. Everyone who works here is super nice and the vibe is always chill. There's trivia on Tuesdays at 7, but I have yet to check this out. It's dog friendly, currently with a dedicated posting area for pics of the brewery dogs that come to visit. In good weather it's great to sit outside. If you are so inclined this is walking distance from the newly opened light rail station. Check it out.

Yes GPS may think you are lost, but that is because this is situated in the middle of a neighborhood. I guess it's been here a really long time. Some of the older patrons talk about how great it used to be before there were houses built in front blocking the waterfront view. You can still get glimpses of the waterfront and the back deck makes a great place to spend a warm summer evening. The building itself has a lot of character. Although it's divey I assume most of the patrons are locals who could choose to go anywhere but come here because it's close. If you happen to be visiting in the non sunny summer months there is still lots of space and seating inside. This turned out to be the perfect place for a friend to hold a birthday party. Not too loud, not too crowded, lots of space for everyone to stand around and talk. The majority of the parking is street parking but because there is nothing else around this was super easy as well. Best of all prices are great. I can't recall such a cheap night out in recent years. They even offer food, I only tried the chips and salsa myself, but everyone seemed to be happy with what they ordered.

After purchasing a frosé, I joined my girlfriend at your outdoor picnic tables. Because she had forgotten her ID, she responsibly remained outside and never once entered the establishment. I was permitted to purchase my beverage, complete the transaction, and walk right past your staff to the outdoor seating area without a single word being said to me. About halfway through my drink, an employee came outside to abruptly inform me that the picnic tables were closed. This was entirely unexpected, as your own signage reads "No alcohol beyond this point," which explicitly implies that alcohol is permitted within the designated picnic area. When I reasonably requested a refund due to this sudden restriction, the employee became incredibly defensive and dismissive, complaining that he "would be losing money." The lack of proactive communication and the sheer rudeness of the interaction were entirely unacceptable. If your outdoor seating is closed, it is management's responsibility to clearly signpost that fact--or, at the very least, have staff notify customers before taking their money. Your employee watched me exit the building with my drink, yet chose to wait until I was halfway finished to confront me, only to handle his own oversight with an attitude. I expected far better hospitality and professional courtesy. I hope this matter is addressed with your staff to ensure future paying customers are treated with basic respect.
