Easy street records and cafe is one of the last standing record shops selling vinyl records and CDs. This is a very popular breakfast place in West Seattle. Now, Easy Street Records and cafe still has the old style charm of open booth seating with every bit of sitting space used. There's always music playing and the staff has the quirkiness you would expect as they're to hold on to an old record shop that remains a popular place in the area. I am typically on the go in the morning, so I call ahead to get the Dolly Parton. The cafe is always accurate about the prep time of the food and the wait is minimal for pickup. The staff greets you with a smile that is believable and works to keep the tradition of the place going. The Dolly Parton is two pancakes, 2 pieces of bacon, and eggs any style. The pancakes are fully, but slightly spongy. The works with the syrup. I always get the scrambles eggs and typically don't get the bacon. The eggs could be cooked with a twist of salt and pepper. I hope Easy Street Records and cafe remain in West Seattle as part of the history and tradition of an old style cafe the rocks with music. read more

If this place were a tattoo, it would be one of the last tattoos old Seattle decided not to laser-off in search of a bigger paycheck. It kind of hides in plain sight like a coin tattoo. It's an unassuming place, until you buy some of their records, see some live performances, or grab some tasty diner food. You can "sink" into the atmosphere of this place easily. When family comes to visit, we could spend two hours talking here unbothered. People here wear what they like and act how they like proudly, like an accountant with a face tat. If you live in Seattle and that shocks you, let me remind you I am a Goblin. It feels like what White Center still is, in many ways. Punk, dive-y, affordable, cool. You can eat a hearty breakfast under $50 for two people, which I would say is working class for most Goblins. Any mistake made, they tend to be extremely willing to make it right. I travel the country stopping at record stores in every city. I got an OVERWHELMING recommendation for this store. People rave about it. They have a pretty decent selection. However, they are NOT friendly in the slightest. Not a hello or welcome. A couple employees glared at me. It was a really unwelcoming environment and I didn't stay as long as I had planned. The guy checking me out was suuuuuper checked out from reality and kind of rude. Prices were decent here compared to other stores in the area. I loved the split level and the fact that there's both a cafe and a bar. It's a cool store, very immersive. I might go back at some point, but I'm always wary of places that aren't very welcoming. I stumbled upon here after coming through for the farmers market on a Sunday to browse records. There was a nice amount of folks eating here and enjoying their Sunday brunch on a football game day. It is always cool to see a mix of locals and tourists that come through here. First off the selection here is so huge!!!! Be ready to spend at least 30+ minutes so that you can take your time and really check out all they have here. Every medium from cassette tapes, posters, artwork, to CDs, 45's, and vinyl LPs. You will find it all here. All of the labeling and cataloging is much much appreciated especially for me, as a tourist, who wants to make the most of her time. Upstairs there is so much more to see. Again you have a mix of new and old here in all genres too! I saw so much I wanted to buy and bring back to Austin with me but I had to keep my haul small. I ended up finding a really great 7 inch of The Frantics (a Seattle, WA band from the 50's/60's era) cover of "San Antonio Rose". I had to get it as it stuck out to me (I am from San Antonio) from the curated list of "Seattle Locals" section upstairs. Brunch for less than $15 is almost unheard of in this economy, but somehow Easy Street is able to manage it (at a cost). This area has a lot of nostalgia to me -- I spent a lot of time in the West Seattle area growing up and would walk past this business all the time, wondering what it was. Years later, I was finally able to grab some brunch here with a friend! Operating as both a record store and cafe, the interior very aesthetically pleasing, with lots of different records, posters, and memorabilia you can purchase! It's also a good way to kill time as you wait for your table. Regarding the food, I'd say you're paying for what you get! I ordered the James Browns, which are essentially hash browns topped with different vegetables and a choice of protein. For $13, I thought it tasted fine! Nothing insanely special, nothing horrible either, but good for the price that you're paying. Service on the other hand, not the greatest. I've seen a few reviews mention this too so this may be a recurring issue. It seemed like after we finished ordering and got our meal, the entire restaurant generally stopped caring about us. We were never once checked on, and never got any refills on things such as water. They definitely seemed busy, but I was unfortunately disappointed with the lack of attention. It's just regular ol' diner food and it's just a simple brunch that's the perfect amount. Nothing fancy, just right! Food is okay, service isn't the greatest, but this is inside a record store and just has cool vibes. I deducted a star for the service...we didn't get any refills on water nor were we offered refills on our coffee. After we got our food, we didn't get checked on once. As for the record store, they've got a pretty extensive collection of records. There are two floors of records and it's just so fun to go through them to see what you can find. Their french toast was extremely good, the bacon was a little bit burnt, my sunny side up eggs were cooked perfectly. The maple syrup was delicious. I ordered the mudhoney latte and the shot of espresso was perfect and the art was beautiful. The chocolate was hersheys which isn't my favorite but was still very good overrall. While I've been to the record side of this business several times, this was my first time trying out their cafe. As a Jersey girl, I'm a sucker for a good diner, and this one meets the mark! Missing home a bit, I went with the Philadelphia Freedom Sandwich - it was deliciously made and did not disappoint. The fries were a perfect mix of a little crispy, a little salty, and a little soggy (which is my preferred style). My friend got the Horton Heat Hash, which I sampled - equally tasty. They have a large menu with everything titled after music artists. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive and will help you narrow down your options if you're overwhelmed by choice or indecisive. RECORD STORE WITH FULL SERVICE RESTAURANT! Located in the heart of The Junction neighborhood in West Seattle, you are surrounded by used and new records. An eclectic environment with a lunch counter downstairs and a small full bar on the upper level. Records and posters are everywhere. I had the chili, which was spicy but otherwise lacking flavor, even though there were a few large chunks of steak in it. The waitress was polite and attentive even though I was in a kinda bad mood. Hey, everyone has a bad day sometimes. There is full breakfast and lunch table service. You cannot sit at the downstairs counter although the full bar upstairs does have a few stools to sit at. As well as a bunch of tables and a counter rail along the balcony overlook. The place is fascinating and fun to be at, and Also to browse the records, both old and new. I haven't tried much of the food so, I really can't speak to it, but Easy Street Records Is well worth a visit if you love old records or even for just the novelty of dining in a record store. The breakfast here was mediocre. I had the Horton Hash and my girlfriend had the Frances Farmer French Toast. All of it was just OK. The french toast we got just wasn't that good tasting. Also, the bread it was made from seemed a bit stale. The hash lacked the good flavor of corn beef. None of the wait staff appeared to be friendly to any of the customers. They do NOT allow dogs on patio or indoors. I cannot rate the food because we waited 45 minutes to get seated outside and when it was finally time, they realized I had a dog in a little purse type kennel and told me she was not allowed at the outside seating or indoors, only at the counter?!?!?! Weird but... My fault though I should have NOT assumed because there was another dog outside who was on a leash but didn't have the service dog certification, etc. like the dog inside had. I assumed that mine 4 lb dog in kennel would be ok. My bad. I will say they had a pretty decent old fashion with an actual Luxardo cherry and while we were sipping on that, due to the fact they made us sit at the counter we had the privilege of seeing the rat/mice trap sign, as pictured. What a cool vinyl shop! There's so much positive energy here, and they often hold signing events with artists. They have a nice, well-organized selection of new and old vinyls with reasonable prices. I was able to score some vintage vinyls last time I visited. The upstairs section with rock and pop albums is my favorite. Will return to try their cafe next time. read more

Easy Street Records and Cafe is a jewel in the crown Seattle! Seattle is just amazing. And this place is apart of the culture. I loved touching and feeling vinyl records. Easy Street is first and foremost a record store, with a cute (and somewhat kitschy) brunch spot attached. They don't take reservations, but our group of five only waited 10 or 15 minutes on Saturday afternoon for a table, giving us enough time to peruse the massive record selection and learn a bit more about the vibrant music scene in Seattle. The food here is solid and filled us up well before an afternoon of sightseeing. The Horton Heat Hash was flavorful (it says spicy, but as someone who only enjoys spicy food occasionally I still found it really palatable and not overwhelming at all). The BLT sandwich was a bit smaller than expected and the fries looked better than they tasted -- they leaned more soggy than crispy. One of the highlights was how the cafe leans into the camp of being a record store -- each dish is either a pun or homage to a music icon, from the "Dolly Parton Stack" of pancakes to the "Bennie and the Jets" eggs Benedict. The staff was nice, albeit a bit young -- it felt like they were local high schoolers/young college students working a weekend job. Wow. I was up visiting family from LA. I lived in the northwest for 20 years. The people that work on the restaurant side are always friendly. On the retail side? There was a friendly gentleman that took me to the soundtrack section. While up stairs I found several selections? I wanted to listen to some of the used ones to make sure there were no skips/scratches. I asked the the gentleman working behind the counter (short, skinny dark hair, angry) He said I need to leave my ID to get a needle. I couldn't hear him the first time because he was so soft spoken. When I asked him to repeat himself? He yelled it. I ignored it and went to listen to my selections. When I went to return the needle and my ID? He had disappeared. There was a (blondish) bartender up stairs. I approached her to ask her about returning the needle and getting my ID. Before I could even get the words out she barked back...If it has to do with music? I cannot help you. She kept talking and I just turned and walked away. I went downstairs and a guy with beautiful eyes was very helpful and got my ID. When I went to pay a gentlemen with a brownish blonde beard and frizzy hair was so rude. Absolutely no how can I help you? Just the infamous blank stare. Once my purchase was finished he took my receipt and threw it on the counter. I was so co fused as to why he was behaving in this manner. Another typical angry, white male working in a record store. Clearly bitter and jaded because he had to work brunch on July 4. Very sad to write this, as Easy Street is one of my top favorite spots in all of West Seattle. But dropping in for some quick fries (I tried to order them to go but they came on plates), requested to wait outside (they seated us at a high table for four when we were a party of five PLUS two toddlers), one of the servers complained about us being there saying the outer space was closed and they were being nice to even let us be there, and then turned on the music so loud (louder than usual) that we couldn't hear each other. Left our bill at another table so we had to go retrieve it. Multiple of them acted rude towards us, though the greeter was great. Guess I'll have to find another spot to enjoy the Alaska Junction over fries with my family, but I am bummed - a West Seattlelite my whole life. read more

I had to track down A1 on my own cuz there wasn't any worschtisure sauce. What? I prefer beer, but the options are lacking from what is it or it's not good. OMG, where do I start! This is the MECA of record stores!! Literally has hundreds of thousands of vinyl records from all genre's! Didn't expect the incredible selection, you could easily spend all day in there just browsing at just records, not to mention they have cool mugs, shirts, stickers etc! We were all hungry so at at the cafe. Ok, I truly wasn't expecting much, WOW...we were blown away. My daughter got a sandwich that she loved, hubs got a hoagie chicken sandwich, (said it was one of the best sandwiches he's every had) I got chili with a side of fries, ALL WERE AMAZING!!! Big with everything was $45....WTF...$45!!!!!!!!! i had to take a triple take....prices were outstanding, no upcharges for anything, service was awesome, for these prices, if we could we would eat here every night! There are certainly many that take record shopping more seriously than I do, but I make a point to visit record stores wherever I go, and Easy Street has had a bullseye on it for the better part of a decade for me. It really lived up to my own personal hype for it too, I picked up a handful of things, but could have picked up 100 other things easily. They have a nice new selection, but some really excellent used arrivals that you just don't see everywhere. Easy Street Records and Cafe is a pretty cool place to catch a bite. Located in a half record shop/ half greasy-spoon diner, it's every bit as fun as it sounds. We came for breakfast on a Saturday morning and got a table immediately, but by 9am; the joint was pretty hoppin', so best to arrive early. Naturally, if the prospect of a diner in a record store conjures up an idea of a music themed dishes, you'd be right. All the meals are cleverly named with homages to the greats. Can you imagine what an "Eggy Pop" would taste like? We'll, here's your chance to find out. The service was fine, but the only thing that was disruptive to the meal was an unusual issue. We were seated under a fan that was running full speed. We asked the waitress if it would be possible to turn it down because it was like a non-stop cold infused gale-force wind blowing on us. Of course it's completely understandable that employees cannot change the temperature (because a lot of places disable access to temperature controls), but it was worth asking. Ultimately there was nothing that she could do, (hey, at least she asked) but in the end, the extra windy atmosphere was a double whammy of disappointment. 1.) It made our dining experience rather chilly and fussy and 2.) Our food, which was brought out hot, got cold very quickly. Aside from that, the food was good- I'd say about 3 stars. I got the Lil' Kim which consisted of one egg, one slice of bacon and choice of a slice of French Toast or a pancake. Because of the fan on full-blast the butter in my pancake never melted. That's how quick the food got cold. The food itself was good, but not great, however; the value is 5 stars as this is about as inexpensive as it-down dining experience in West Seattle can get. The decor and music are 5 stars. It's hard to not love the energy and the people watching. I'd say that the vibe of the place is fun, inviting and creative. All the walls have music posters and it doesn't feel commercial. Because Easy Street encompasses so many great things that are really hard to come by these days, I'd definitely come back next time I'm visiting West Seattle. This place is sooooo cool, the vibes in here are immaculate. Every corner you look around is something interesting and quirky and it's such a unique spot! This review is for the record store, not the cafe - I haven't eaten here, so can't speak for the food. As a record store, it's absolutely among Seattle's best. They have a great selection of both used and new albums, and everything is logically organized. They have jazz, hip hop, R/B, soul, electronic, and CDs on the first floor. For rock and pop, head upstairs. My one gripe is that their prices on used vinyl can be on the high side, particularly for well-known artists. They do have a few mixed in for $7-8, but for the most part they seem to average about 20% higher than they should be, and sometimes more than that. That's certainly not to say there aren't decent deals to be found - I do end up buying something almost every time I come in. "Great finds" are there to be had by the plenty. "Amazing bargains" are less likely. Their prices on new records are in line with anywhere else. That said - I still absolutely class it as a top shelf record store in town. If you need some others to check out, try Golden Oldies, Daybreak, Fat Cat, and Sonic Boom. Happy hunting! read more
