Loved the South Austin version of Easy Tiger, a large location with German beer hall vibes with freshly baked bagels right at the morning time. I got the everything bagel with Sacllion cream cheese and it was piping hot and I was not able to cut the bagel into a half because of the temperature but that's an upside according to me rather than having a cold old bagel. My order : Everything Bagel Latte Hibiscus tea Almond croissant The Almond croissant is a must try as well but a don't miss the freshly baked bagels. Hibiscus tea was meh. My son has talked about Easy Tiger for a long time, so it was fun to get a bite there when we were in town visiting him. It's a huge restaurant with lots of covered rooftop seating. I got a pastrami and swiss kolache and cinnamon knot which were both quite good. Service was very slow- our food was brought to us one at a time. Multi-level beer garden will a beautiful sunset from the upper deck. TVs throughout the large outdoor seating area. I was shocked how empty it was, but it was a Monday night. Playground adjacent to the parking lot for the kids. Bartenders were lovely and made our cocktails per our special requests. The sandwiches were good, the Serious Grilled Cheese was overpriced but the highlight for me was the Mac n cheese. I'm always searching for the best Mac n cheese and this one is a top 3 for me. Way better this time around!! Friendly staff, new vibes, and the coffee and food are both delicious and worth the premium. They're really making an effort to curate a family-friendly weekend morning environment - but without compromising on the feels and food/drink. The upstairs bar was playing Premier League soccer at 10AM, love it! I could see this place getting a lot of traffic for World Cup watching if they play their cards right. Would love to come for their happy hour or one of the trivia nights! read more

First thing- there is a parking lot!! Every time I go to south Lamar I dread finding parking so that was a relief. We went around noon on wed and there were plenty of spots. On a lovely cool spring day like today- the outdoor porch is beautiful! For once the rain cooled down the weather instead of just making it muggy Wish we could have checked out the top deck but it was closed for an event. Our server Kristyn was friendly and attentive, and when she heard us discussing the baked goods made sure we knew there was a 50% discount for ordering from her! One of our party also had an extremely long wait for her chicken sandwich (we had to all deliberately stop eating so we weren't done before hers even arrived) but Kristyn delivered the food with an immediate notice that they were comping it for the wait- so thanks for the top notch customer service! I've been to the east location and enjoyed the drink options but sadly today was a work lunch so it was food only. I got the lunch special, 1/2 the baguette sando and tomato bisque. The soup was delicious; creamy and flavorful. The baguette was tasty, but the bread was so chewy I had trouble getting bites of it! I know baguettes are chewy but I had a bit of difficulty eating it- maybe they just aren't my thing lol. Also looked pretty small compared to the sliced bread sandwiches other people got. My friend with the chicken sandwich said it was good, but nothing special- the chicken was more of a thin cutlet instead of a nice juicy thigh like my favorite spots. One star off for the food- again not bad just not mind blowing. Despite that I'd definitely come back, especially for a happy hour; the location is great (I'd definitely pick this over the east side one) and the service was worth returning. read more

I've always had easy tiger pastries at other places but had never gone to the original! This spot is so beautifully designed, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating including space for your little ones to safely run around. The service is great, and the energy is high. I was impressed by the menu. Our food (Veggie Quinoa Bowl and a DIY biscuit and eggs) was great! Their coffee (specifically the Mexican Mocha and Honey Lavender Latte) were sooooooo yummy. When they had their original store on E. 6th St., I had the best pastrami sandwich outside of my hometown of Boston. Made in house, sliced thin, 1/2 lb of meat and simply amazing. Eating a pastrami sandwich at the S. Lamar location, I was hoping for something similar. Alas, it was not to be. The meat was sliced as thick as BBQ brisket, and simply tasted like corned beef that was roasted instead of simmered. I've had the house cured pastrami at another restaurant in the area cut to smokehouse specs and it was tender and properly seasoned, cured, and smoked. This stuff was tough, and needed to have been sliced thin to be remotely palatable. $29 for that sandwich was a rip. I won't be back. read more

What a cool space! There is so much seating and lots of areas to hang out. There is a small area inside that is heavily air conditioned. Then a lot of outside space which is mostly shaded and an area for games like corn hole. The art and the vibe is top notch. We stopped in quick for some cold drinks to kill some time and the group liked all the drinks. I would say it you're used to a ceremonial grade matcha this one is a little more bitter and maybe not for everyone. All the staff was super sweet. They come to your table if you're sitting inside. read more

This location has changed a lot. We used to love going to the upper deck to watch a sunset over a beer, but most of the tables have been removed, and there is no wait staff in the bar there, so it's a pretty uninteresting place to hang now. Their downstairs indoor space does have a nice vibe though, as well as a kid-friendly outdoor play area, so there are still lots of options. And their food is delicious. We'll keep going back, but have adjusted our reasons for going. Since it has a variety of environments and a great bakery and menu, I recommend you give it a try. read more

Cute spot, great ambiance, average food and coffee. We started off with the french toast bites, which were slightly smaller pieces of French toast that was very soggy (I prefer them cooked a bit more). I got the egg sammy which is a 2 egg omelet with your choice of meat (I got bacon) with jalapeno aioli on a fresh baked bun. The sandwich was well put together, everything cooked well, it just was missing something...The whole thing seemed a little bland. For my coffee, I got the Bengal Spice Latte, double espresso, house made cardamom syrup and white chocolate sauce. I liked that it was not overly sweet, but I did not taste any cardamom, it just tasted like a white chocolate latte. read more

Easy Tiger has been a staple for me in Austin ever since I discovered their amazing sourdough that I know I can buy at heb! (what a score!) Their South Lamar location is a great hub for socializing in big groups because of the picnic tables on their patio. They have indoor seating too but when it's crowded, it's limited. You walk up to order at the register then they give you a number and bring everything to your table. Simple! I ordered the Harvest Kale Salad- it's perfectly dressed and mixed! New ownership by MML Hospitality! They own all these restaurants (see pic), food has been elevated and is delicious!!! Had the Pit Ham and Cheese (5/5 just yummo), marinated cucumbers (10/5- delicious with the chili crunch!!) , POTATO & SAUERKRAUT PIEROGIS (5/5- soooo damn good!! Pretzel (5/5) crispy but soft inside with beer cheese (3/5 I wanted more flavor) but the horseradish mustard was perfect. BLT is a new fave- bacon was perfectly cooked and plenty of it! Wish I had taken pictures to share. Next time though!!! Happy Hour with 1/2 price beer and the upstairs view is gorgeous. read more

Came around 1pm. Just needed a baguette and that wonderful amazing cranberry walnut sourdough. Lord, have you had it? It's flipping good. I try not to eat too much bread, but when I do, I'm so happy I'm able to treat myself with Easy Tiger. I will be making a delicious baguette grilled slices with a few different cheese, topped with strawberries, peaches, and apple. Drizzle with a little espresso balsamic, and a traditional aged 18 years balsamic as well. That will be my little snack for tomorrow . The line was out the door today, at around 1pm, but 2 cashiers made the line move pretty fast. The young gentlemen was ver nice as I gave my order to him. And it got everything ready for me. My sour dough was sliced, which is such a great help. I have a bread knife, but I can't seem to cut a straight line. Parking lot was pretty tight. It's a decent lot, and they don't share the lot with another business, they were just busy, and the lot was full. Thankfully I did find a spot, hooray for small compact cars. Will come back for sure. I like Easy Tiger bread. I get it when I have company, and guests, and when I'm down in the area. read more

The bakery at Easy Tiger makes the freshest bread in Austin! You can have a croissant, sourdough bread or pretzels, it's all mouthwateringly delicious. The sandwiches, pastries, sides, drinks, everything is great. The space is huge with seating inside and a covered patio with fans so it doesn't feel too hot especially during sunset time even during Summer. You can also see the most amazing sunset views from the upstairs deck and parking lot (which is also huge btw). The staff is super friendly and service is stellar. read more

So disappointing since MML TOOK OVER. Surprising because MML does such a great job with their other restaurants. First thing bad was the total elimination of Easy Tigers wonderful sausage and kielbasa sandwiches, and the second is the really small - I mean really small portions. I ordered the pastrami brisket and got maybe 3 oz brisket that was dry, a piece of stale sourdough bread, and seriously ... maybe a tablespoon of cole slaw or kraut - wasn't really sure what that was. I also ordered a cucumber salad and their basic idea is good to mix in celery - but they only gave the skins of the cucumbers, not the seedy insides. I was SUPER disappointed what MML did to one of my absolutely favorite restaurants. Super bummed. read more

I went Saturday at 11:00 for a matcha and their "6 Butter Croissants for $20" deal. No croissants left. To compensate I bought an Austin sourdough bread ($7) which turned out very dry with no freshness -- a complete waste. The staff? Chaos. Five waitresses darting around aimlessly, doing nothing concrete. I waited over 15 minutes for my drink while about 20 people queued up. Inside was nearly empty with only a few people outside -- Pretty weird for a Saturday morning. And the $7 matcha? Supposedly ceremonial quality but pre-mixed with water and poured from a glass bottle. Forget proper whisking. The waitress splashed some green liquid into a plastic cup, added barista almond milk, steamed it in under a minute, and handed me a lukewarm drink with a faint, almost non-existent matcha taste. $7 for that? Absolutely terrible. This place has lost all sense of quality -- what used to be special is now careless and overpriced. read more

Easy Tiger is a casual and fun brewery. My friend and her fiancé rented out the second floor for their rehearsal dinner with a private bar area. My only complaint is that the misters on the ceiling were not working that day so it was extremely hot and humid. I wish Easy Tiger had better accommodations for the weather. For food, there was a buffet consisting of salad, mac & cheese, brussels sprouts, steak, chicken, and pretzel. The food tasted better than I expected! As for drinks, I thought the lavender lemonade cocktail was fragrant and refreshing. read more

Bummer that patio server walked by me 9 times, wiped down 3 tables, and wouldn't take my order. I guess it's fine for me to walk to/fro the bar to make my orders, but an 18% tip would be awesome to save me some trips. Location is incredible and restrooms are amazing for a bar-type venue. Food and drinks are a little overpriced, especially since service also sucks. read more

I'm a huge believer in casual outdoor dining and Easy Tiger has a great selection of food and drinks with a lovely outdoor dining space. We had the pretzel which is great to share, the chicken curry sausage, then some sides. The service was excellent. The easy Italian was just that. Simple and to the point. I wish it had a bit more in the spread. The bread was good. I love the lattes a lot more than I thought. I like the thought of a place you could work remote from and then transition into having a wine flight after work. Plenty of outdoor seating. The service wasn't the best at this one. Missed out on some items. But I know everyone can have an off day. All sorts of folks around. I wish it had a bit more cooling in the outdoor spaces. read more

I was thoroughly disappointed with my visit. The beer was flavorless and dull--more reminiscent of copycats than a distinctive brewery. I was eager to try the bakery, but the loaf of bread I purchased was stale and excessively dry. It was clear that it had been sitting out for too long. I was alone in the thanks giving week, wrapped work early on the Tuesday and started looking for a new place to try out. I had read about Easy Tiger in one of those top 10 in Austin articles and when the name popped up in search, I decided to try it out. The place has a feeling of warmth and a nice aroma wafts around, I think that's because it is a bakery too. Being alone, I chose to use the bar seating for once and was immediately paid back for my choice with very attentive service. I got a beer, the chicken sandwich and the tomato bisque soup. All of them were excellent. I wish they had a choice for a grilled chicken sandwich because the fried chicken did have more oil than my liking but the coleslaw and the sauce made up for it. They have really nice patio seating and cozy ambience across the board. I am coming with the family soon. read more

Easy Tiger features artisan bread (including baguettes, croissants, pretzels), locally roasted coffee, a full bar, and more than 29 local and craft beers. We have plenty of outdoor on our covered patio with TVs both inside and out.

History

Established in 2012.

Easy Tiger began as a bake shop and beer garden carved into the heart of the Waller Creek district of Austin’s downtown. On the patio, amongst the rocks, locals and tourists found a bustling beer garden with an ivy laden table tennis scene and a quaint little European bake shop upstairs. Bakers (we call them doughpunchers) baked a little extra each night, and eventually restaurants and markets all around town began to carry our artisan bread and pastries. Today, we have two spots in Austin – a roadside oasis and patio up North and a family-friendly, scenic respite off South Lamar. Based on the decor I can tell they're not trying to be a "trendy" bakery and remain true to their identity as a neighborhood business. They still had a good number of pastries available but I did get the last strawberry danish of the day (pictured). I also got the almond croissant.
