The Brewster Bun is decadent. Flaky, buttery, finger licking good. I could have one every day.

I visited this place by recommendation yesterday. It took me 30 min to get there from where I live on the Cape and I had the worst experience I have ever had during my 27 years living in America. The owner was so rude to me and my daughter that we both were left pretty much in shock! My daughter and my 11-year old granddaughter headed to the store (with masks on of course) to buy some baked sweets for themselves. I was waiting for them in the car. An employee stationed outside did not allow the little girl to come inside citing that only one person from a party can come inside (I see that others speak of laminated menus but they were not offered to them). This was a strange rule considering that we have never been to this bakery and a child needs to see what's offered before they can order. After buying some stuff my daughter saw that the other customer had her (young) child inside with her and asked an employee to clarify the rules - particularly, why her daughter was not allowed in. The owner quickly appeared and said neither apologetically nor politely that these are their rules. When asked to explain again she just blurted out: "Get your stuff and leave my store immediately!" My daughter was shaking and in tears when she emerged out of the store and I decided to go in and find out what's happened inside. I asked the owner why she was so rude to my daughter. And without any explanation she said to me the same: "Leave my place!" I am 73 years old and that young woman did not have any respect to me! Why? Who gave her the right to be so rude to her customers?! There are many ways businesses are trying to stay afloat in the times of Covid and being rude to their customers is definitely not one of them! We have supported many local Cape eateries this summer - eating out on a terrace, buying from the shop window outside and self-seating on picnic tables etc. There are many ways to continue serving in a health conscious way! I don't think such behavior from the owner is appropriate (what kind of lesson is she giving to her younger employees!) and I would never recommend this place to neither my friends nor relatives. UPDATE: The part about my daughter harassing a teenage attendant outside is an outrageous lie that puts owner's entire response below to question- as my daughter proceeded straight to the car, which I witnessed!- in tears-without talking to an attendant. We then sat in the car together processing and after I went in (while my daughter and granddaughter remained in the car)- we left. I am not going to continue discussing my opinion or this experience. read more

Wonderful new bakery here in Brewster. Thumbs up on both my ham and cheese croissant, and my daughter's plain croissant. Great selection, very friendly service. You're not going to find Valrhona chocolate brownies around these parts, right? read more

Arrived for breakfast. Staff was rude, at bit snootie. Food was OK but VERY overpriced. Felt very rushed.

No need to go to Paris for the best desserts on earth. Eat Cake is a gem of a French bakery in Brewster. They created an assortment of 145 desserts, including millefeuille, chocolate decadence, apple tart, strawberry frasier and chocolate mousse, for a dessert buffet at our son's wedding. Magnifique! So the pastries are amazing. The almond croissant was one of the best I've had. Do not make the mistake of ordering the quiche unless your bringing it back to somewhere you can heat it up....and even at that beware. We didn't have such a place and the staff didn't mention it would be cold. Very disappointing and there was also a big hunk of something like sausage in it that I couldn't chew. Ok, changing my review after a rude response from the owner. The owner's response to C-19 protocol is to leave your small children outside by themselves as there is only one person per group inside. I respect the fact this is your protocol and just wanted folks to know they will be asked to leave there small children unattended outside alone if you are the only adult. For folks who do not like the idea of leaving your children alone outside you should consider another bakery. I know I will be. I wish you luck as a small business owner. read more

My only regret is not finding this darling little bakery at the beginning of our stay in Cape Cod. I've been to bakeries all over the world, but Eat Cake 4 Breakfast makes hands down the best cheese pastry I have EVER had!! Excellent coffee too. read more

The shop was pretty and clean. The selection was small- my daughter was looking for doughnuts or something tiny, and the server recommended a Brewster bun for her, which she didn't like. I tried it and it was a little too chewy and dry, maybe because it was later in the morning and not as fresh. I also tried a cheese danish, which was large with a too-dry texture, and the small spot of cheese in the center was tangy. This place was hyped up to me and I don't understand why. read more

This bakery is ridiculously good. 5 stars aren't enough. Pastries are light and flakey. Not overly sweet but very flavorful. I've tried many things and they are all fabulous. The Boston Cruffin is my new favorite, but you really can't go wrong. Also, the pies are totally worth it! read more

I've been going to this bakery since it opened its doors. Every time I walk in, I am greeted with a smile and a friendly hello from either the owner or her lovely staff behind the counter. This weekend was the first opportunity I had to custom order a large quantity of goodies for a party. The owner, Danielle, worked with me in a short amount of time to put together a beautiful spread of different tarts for my family's baby shower. She was even willing to consider doing some of her specialties that she's done in months past. Presentation is always on point and the berry tarts that she made looked flawless even after travel and being set out for the guests. Before pandemic I had had their treats before but actually never had been to their new location (which is absolutely beautiful inside). March 2020 everything closes down as we all know! I'm a huge gift giver but I can't get to any stores to Mail gifts to our out of state family for Mother's Day, Birthdays, Fathers Day etc.... No worries Eat Cake for Breakfast will ship fresh baked goods! Everyone got Brewster Buns and absolutely loved them!!! It was so nice to be able to send loved ones a special treat and support such an amazing small business, emphasis on AMAZING! Thanksgiving 2020 I Ordered 3 pies online to be picked up on Wednesday. Somehow I got there before it was crazy busy picked up my pies and walked past the line growing out the door. The pies were unbelievable a chocolate cream (that was my favorite) and apple and pumpkin! Can't wait for this thanksgiving to get more! So yesterday was a coworkers Birthday she loves Brewster Buns so I popped in to get some goodies. I hadn't eaten breakfast so $40 later I had the goods haha. I got two items for myself to try that I had never had there before. A ham and cheese croissant which I always love from anywhere. But this one ruined others for me!! This was the most amazing croissant I ever tasted, I heated it up in microwave at work and the salon was sooooo jealous it smelt amazing tasted amazing it was just incredible!!! The second award winning treat was an eclair bomb, holy moly this thing was probably the best thing I have ever eaten!!!! I'm not kidding I can't even describe how delicious is was! So glad we went here on day one ( and every day for a week lol). I think we were able to try everything over the course of a week. Favorites: everything croissant filled with cream cheese and almond croissant. The iced coffee is absolutely amazing. Brownie was incredible. Pie was fantastic. Granola bar was delicious. My entire family loves Eat Cake for Breakfast! When I saw that Heath Bar Cookies were being offered it was a no brainer to order them for my mother's birthday! She loved them! This place is nothing short of amazing I'm slowly working my way through the entire menu. Danish and pastries this good are hard to find anywhere let alone Cape Cod. The Brewster buns are unbelievable and my favorite. The blueberry and cheese danish are so delicious and another favorite of mine is the double chocolate cookie. We stopped at Eat Cake 4 Breakfast on our last day on the Cape, and enjoyed some of the most delicious pastries I've ever had outside France. We are from Upstate NY and booked our vacation before Covid hit, and spent months thinking we wouldn't go, but in the end decided we could do it safely by bringing the majority of our own food and mostly sticking to the beach and rental cottage. But on our way out of town we decided to stop for some pastries and I was so impressed by the safety measures at this establishment. It was a relief to feel safe and know that the staff was safe serving us, as travelers. And now that I'm home, I wish I grabbed some extra items (although truthfully they would not have made it home) because the pastries we bought were so incredible. I've been visiting the Cape and going to eat cake for a long time. They recently moved to a larger location. The owner and her staff are fantastic and informative. Due to COVID they have a strict but efficient social distancing policy. 1 person in per party (unless you have a small child with you) and a U shaped line to bring you through. To make it easier for patrons they will show you the menu outside and one of the staff greeters is very friendly and informative about what is on the menu and the ingredients. I never waited long and the reward of my beloved Brewster Bun was always worth it. Other things worth mentioning are their croissants. Their quiche (they will not heat it up due to COVID) but take home and heat or enjoy it cold it's worth it! Pretty much everything is delicious and made with love. This is not a factory or a donut shop or a diner. This is a specific menu and everything is made with obvious love and care. You can also mobile order and they have delivery. They are a small business trying hard to have all enjoy and keep people safe in the process. What could be wrong about that? The food is worth any "hassle" if you can call it that. PS over 170,000 Americans have died due to Covid as I write this review and your complaining about a line for amazing pastry?!? Let's get a reality check please. Bravo Eat Cake. We went there for a late breakfast. We had ham and cheese croissant and smoked turkey and asiago croissant. Between both, we prefered the smoked turkey croissant. At first bit of the croissant, I feel like it was a yesterday croissant since the puff dough wasn't crispy. I would recommand to heat it up a bit. In the oven to get the crispyness of a croissant. The almond croissant was generous and well covered with grilled sliced almonds. I was disapointed by the greek yogurt pana cotta. I don't understand the hype. Selection was really small. Cappuccino was OK. the Brewster bun was good. The pain Au chocolate tasted like it was from a grocery store. The ham croissant was decent. But they don't have a way to warm anything up. Who wants a cold savory croissant? $27 for 3 pastries, a cappuccino, and 2 bottled drinks. read more

So disappointed today. We drove about 25 minutes as we've been to the bakery before and loved it. Today we ordered coffee, which was excellent, and then a cheese danish, the highly touted pistachio chocolate croissant and an almond croissant! The pastries were so heavy and dense and the pistachio croissant couldn't be cut and there was essentially no chocolate to be found. Felt like we ate sinkers for breakfast. Since Eat Cake 4 Breakfast has reopened in their new location, I have been disappointed in their baked goods, to say the least. Their pastries and croissants used to be so fresh and light & flaky, they melted in your mouth. Since reopening, the pastries and croissants have been dense and heavy, and just not fresh. I'm not sure if they are selling products that were made the day before or freezing them, but the quality is not the same. I really hope they consider this and go back to the exceptional quality that brought me back to this bakery again and again. I gave it 3 tries since they reopened in their new location and I don't think I will be back anytime soon. Possibly, I'll try back this summer... read more

This Bakery is amazing. My family ordered several different croissants, Danish, and of course Brewster buns. All were outstanding!! It's worth the trip, and price. You get what you pay for. If you want hand made, fresh ingredients, and baked good made with pride and care then you have found your Utopian eatery. My family will be coming back here - maybe by the end of the week..... Well I made it back here only a few days later and had the pistachio encrusted chocolate croissant- simply incredible. It was made more enjoyable that it was WARM. What a huge surprise at 10:30. It demonstrates this bakery keeps putting out amazing treats throughout the day - meaning there is that much demand for their product. A top notch bakery - unlike any I've experienced. read more

Came here for the second time. Tried the lemon tart and the Brewster bun. The Brewster bun was amazing--one of the freshest and softest things I've ever put in my mouth. But the lemon tart was disappointing--the crust was practically inedible it was so hard (really seemed overbaked). The filling was good, but def not worth $5. read more
